Hey there friends. So, I wanted to chat through Chris Gdderup’s swing. Talk about a couple things that jump out to me. Uh, obviously highly functional, but there’s some unique aspects to this as well. I’d start with this ball is probably a little bit further back than what we would call traditional. Along with that, he’s a little bit of forward shaft lean. Typically, you can get away with that when you’re a higher speed player like him. The slower you swing, certainly the more you’d want to see that ball up in the stance with less forward shaft lean, maybe even a touch of reverse shaft lean. From there, what I like about his move is it kind of reminds me of Jack Nicholas with this trigger. One of the first things he’s going to do is turn that head away from the target, right? Kind of a little bit out that way. That sort of sets up his rotation in the back swing. Boom. Now, one thing that jumps out to me for sure, while he makes a huge pivot, there’s not much lateral motion away from the target at all, if anything, he starts to kind of back up towards it. Right? If I just draw a little lateral line off his lead hip to start, get it out there off the edge of him, he sort of starts to back into that by the top of the back swing there. Right? What’s very cool is now he has, you could argue, almost the entirety of the down swing to start really pushing off that left leg and foot, which helps him create a tremendous amount of power through his turn in the down swing. And he just roasts fades out there. Really fun one to watch. Let me know what jumps out to you about his swing or if there’s any other tour pros you’d like me to take a look at in the future.
