COALVILLE, Utah – The 25th-ranked San Diego State men’s golf team is in 11th place after two rounds of The Wohali Monday in Coalville, Utah. The Aztecs opened with a 5-over-par 289 in the first round on the par-71, 7,873-yard Eagle Course at The Wohali Club, but struggled to a 24-over 308 in the second round and are at 29-over through 36 holes.

Playing without its No. 1 golfer Harry Takis (Brisbane, Australia) because of a minor injury, SDSU was forced to rely on its four other golfers in the lineup in the five-count-four event. San Diego State, which is ranked 25th in the preseason Bushnell/Golfweek DI Coaches Poll, is 11th in the 14-team field at 29-over 597. Senior Chanachon Chokprajakchat (Bangkok, Thailand) is tied for 44th at +9. He opened with a 2-under 69 with four birdies and just two bogeys. Chokprajakchat, however, carded a 11-over 82 in the second round with seven bogeys and two double bogeys (and no birdies).

Classmate Tyler Kowack (San Diego/Canyon Crest Academy) is tied for 54th at +11 after rounds of 74 and 79. Kowack logged two birdies and five bogeys in his 74, and one birdie, seven bogeys and a double-bogey on the par-4, 445-yard seventh for his 79.
