Air Niugini has taken delivery of its first Airbus A220 aircraft, named Papa Golf Alpha, with more aircraft set to follow in the coming months.

Captain Samiu Taufa, the airline’s Officer in Charge and Acting Chief Operating Officer, confirmed with Post-Courier Online during the signing ceremony between the airline and Airbus yesterday that two additional aircraft are scheduled before the end of the year.

“Mid-November we are getting plane number 2, around the beginning of December we will be getting plane number 3.

“Those first three aircraft that are coming in, the next two are identical to this one. They will be appropriately named Papa Golf Bravo and Papa Golf Charlie, after this one which is Papa Golf Alpha,” Captain Taufa said.

He added that the first three aircraft are on lease from Azora, the leasing company that signed off with Air Niugini during the contract signing event.
