Ben Griffin breaks down a roller-coaster final round at the Procore Championship: a three-birdie start, steady stretches with “easy pars,” and late 5–6 footers that didn’t fall—including the short putt on 18 that would’ve forced a playoff with World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler. He explains the poa annua challenge late in the day, why he was trying to make eagle on 18, and how he’ll sharpen those inside-six-feet looks. With two wins this season and multiple runner-ups, Griffin says he’ll bounce back and keep learning.

Ben, uh, how would you describe that round today? It looked like it was pretty steady, but was there was there a different feeling to it today? Uh, I got off to a great start. Um, burning the first three. Um, kind of gave me, um, some Charles Schwab final round vibes. Um, got off to a great start and then was kind of just stuck in neutral for a while. Um, felt like I was giving myself a lot of decent looks, not great looks. Um, made some, you know, a lot of pretty easy pars. Um then down the stretch I hit some uh had a mix of great putts that I hit and a mix of uh you know some missed kind of five sixfooters um that you got to make when you’re trying to win. And so it’s a bummer uh didn’t make some of those. I’ll get back to work and uh need to start making more of those inside six feet. That 18th hole hasn’t been kind to you on the weekend. Would you like to play that again a couple of times? Um I mean I don’t really think of it that way. Uh, you know, I just try to hit good shots and, you know, there’s a lot of hard holes I play, a lot of easy hard or easy holes I play. And I mean, I’ll I’ll get 18 back if I have a chance at some point in my career. Otherwise, it’s all good. Uh, gave myself a good chance. I was trying to make eagle. Um, putt was just a little slower than I expected. And, um, I don’t know if I hit my line or not on the last, but I looked up and it looked a little it looked like it was breaking pretty good to the left. And I I tried to play it straighter to right center. And so, um, it’s tough late in the day. Again, I said it yesterday, late in the day on Poig Greens. You’re just trying to put a good stroke on it and see what happens. I felt like just wasn’t quite as sharp from short range as I need to be. Um, but I’ll get to work this this next week and uh hopefully make every single one of them at the RER Cup. You have a very admirable, positive attitude. You’ve had a couple of wins this year, but you’ve been on the back end of it too a couple of times, couple of runner ups, and this is I think third one this season. Does this one sting a little more or does it is it like not as frustrating or I mean anytime you finish second it sucks. Um but you know I’m I’m so grateful to be playing golf, so grateful to have opportunities down the stretch. Um you know, I just need to execute a little bit better. But you know, every time I’ I’ve finished second, I feel like I’ve learned something. And um I just really got to make more of those five, sixfooters on Sundays. It’s uh those are the ones that that help you win win the tournament. I had a couple on the on the front nine that I missed and then I had a couple down the stretch that I missed. Um from mid-range I I make a good amount. Um it’s just a bummer. It seems like it’s a consistent thing. So I’ll look at it. I’ll I’ll watch all my Yeah, there’s my putt. Yeah, I guess just broke a little bit, but uh happens. I’ll be I’ll bounce back. How hard is it when the world number one’s like doing that on the leaderboard? Well, you you know, you expect it. Um I knew I needed to shoot a lower round. just the fact that I had a chance shooting, you know, two under, three under. I I honestly thought I needed to go a little bit lower today. Um, you know, he’s a hell of a player. He’s got the resume that’s better than pretty much everyone here, but you know, he’s just like any other player. Everyone can everyone can beat everyone. You just got to you just got to play better. You obviously got off to that great start. Was it as simple as like you said, some of those 50-50 putts or does something kind of feel off, you know, down that stretch? Yeah. Um, no. It felt great down the off the start. even felt great kind of in the middle of the round just um the cars just weren’t aligned. I hit some putts that I thought I hit decent putts and didn’t fall and I hit other, you know, I still made some five sixfooters. It’s just uh I think I just left myself way too many of them. You need to either convert those or or make a few more from mid-range. Um it’s all good. I I’ll give get to work. I’ll look at things and uh I I’ll practice hard this week and make sure I’m ready for the RDER Cup. How different are things for you now that you know you’re this happens and you have two wins this year. you’re you finished second a few times like this is no longer some horribly deflating thing I’m sure is is there any difference in just how you feel in that sense that now this is your normal being in these positions. Yeah, it’s it’s nice. Uh I just feel like I’ve grown so much as a player to put myself in the positions I’ve had I’ve I have this season and um yeah, you know, it stings anytime you don’t win, but you know, it’s not from a lack of effort. I was I was pushing hard down the stretch. Hit some great putts on 16 and 17. Either one of those could have easily dropped and then 18. Uh I was trying to make Eagle and uh and won it outright because I didn’t want to take him on in a playoff. I wanted to go ahead and do it and um it’s just a bummer to finish that way. Um you know, it happens. Uh you know, not everyone’s a robot like Scotty, I guess. Thanks for being so gracious with us. Thank you. Yeah, of course. Yes.

Love his attitude!
"didn't want to take him on in a playoff" seems like Scottie has these guys in their head just like Tiger did in his prime…Scottie +140 before the final round was EASY MONEY!!
