I started hitting again this summer after about twenty years. Surprised at how well I did and had developed a draw instead of fade/slice.

My natural shot was always a long, high fade which could get a little far right at times.

I recently for the first time took a video of my swing and noticed that I release a little early. I hit the ball pretty much at the moment of full extension.
I believe that this probably has and caused me to somewhat slide the club not only through but also under the ball.

Though the shots seem powerful (long and high), they are assuredly missing some potential. I know there is more distance to be had if my hands are leading the way, but more importantly probably is the ability to keep the ball down some (especially in the wind). I tend to pick the ball or have an almost V shaped swing with a low point right in front/under the ball. A steep angle of attack.

I hit a few balls yesterday and was working on having the hands in front. The distance increase was very noticeable. I even asked on of the range guys if the distance posted took into account the tee area for the day. I'd say about 165 with my 9 iron (red flag was 157), 175 with the 8 (yellow flag was at 182), and the whippy, weighted 7 training club going past that (currently don't have my 7 irn). And these are old school TaylorMade ICW from 1991.

However, I still hit high balls. I don't know if I am still releasing too early and just getting better weight transfer, if I hit a little too high in the club face, or maybe I am coming down on it too much.

I am attaching a few club face pictures.
I did hit more towards the heel on a few shots. I am guessing that this is from trying to get the hands out in front more. That is not my usual tendency.
Order of pic: PW, 9, 8, 7, and two of the 5.

My question is if I am striking the ball too high in the club face or not.
And what should I do to work on having a less steep swing? Probably impossible to answer without video.

Thank y'all for any advice.
