HARTFORD, Wis. – First year Ray Zhang (San Ramon, Calif./Dougherty Valley) tied for fourth individually to lead the Macalester College men’s golf team to a fifth-place finish at the 15-team Wisconsin Lutheran Fall Invitational, held at Washington County Golf Course Saturday and Sunday. The Scots ended up with a two-round score of 606, which is the second-lowest score in the program’s history for a 36-hole tournament.

Zhang shot a pair of 73s to tie for fourth at +2 146. Sophomore Aaron Cheng (Mountain View, Calif./Taipei American School) carded a +5 149 to tie for 11th, while senior Ben d’Entremont (Cranston, R.I./Moses Brown School) was one shot behind Cheng in a tie for 15th. Sophomore Liam Sarmiento (Sioux Falls, S.D./O’Gorman) tied for 65th to close out the Scots’ top four.

 

Next week Macalester plays at the Saint John’s Fall Invite Sept. 20-21 at St. Cloud Country Club in St. Cloud, Minn.
