OOLTEWAH, Tenn. – The No. 13/14 Tennessee men’s golf team is set to take part in the inaugural Invitational at The Honors Course, hosted by Chattanooga. 

The event opens with 36 holes of continuous play on Monday with the final 18 holes being played Tuesday. 

The Invitational at the Honors course included a 12-team field that features seven top-15 teams according to Golf Channel’s preseason rankings. 

Established in 1983, The Honors Course is a private golf club located just northeast of Chattanooga, Tennessee, in a community known as Ooltewah. The Pete Dye-designed club is focused on amateur golf and has hosted many amateur championships including five USGA championship events along with the 28th Curtis Cup in 1994. 

The Vols are coming off a hot start to the 2025-26 season after winning the Visit Knoxville Collegiate as a team while Reed Lotter was the individual co-champion. UT shot 19-under overall throughout the event and had five golfers place inside the top 10. The team win marked the 12th of the Brennan Webb era, which places him third all-time in head coaching wins in program history. Additionally, Lotter became the eighth Vol under Webb to win at least one individual title. 

THE VOLS’ LINEUP

Lance Simpson

Simpson, who has become a mainstay and one of the most consistent forces in program history, is coming off a top-five finish at the Visit Knoxville Collegiate where he shot 5-under overall to tie for fourth. Simpson logged a round-one 66 and final-round 68 to help secure UT’s team win. 

Jackson Herrington

Herrington, the 2025 U.S. Amateur runner-up, also secured a top-five finish to open his sophomore campeigh. The Dickson, Tennessee, native shot a three-round total of 4-under with each round in the 60s. 

Reed Lotter

Fresh off his first career individual win in his Big Orange debut, Lotter is set to make his first lineup appearance for the Vols. The Savannah, Georgia, native competed in the Visit Knoxville Collegiate as an individual. After starting the tournament at 1-over, Lotter rallied with a pair of 66s in the second and third rounds to climb the leaderboard and secure the win. 

Josh Hill

The senior secured a top-10 showing at the Visit Knoxville Collegiate with a 54-hole total of 208 (-2). Hill provided Tennessee with a 67 and 69 in rounds one and two of the tournament. 

Bruce Murphy

Murphy also logged a top-10 finish in his first tournament of the season with a 2-under score. The Johns Creek, Georgia, native carded a 66 and 67 in the first two rounds. 

THE VOLS’ INDIVIDUAL 

Chase Kyes

The freshman finished just outside the top-25 in his collegiate debut at the Visit Knoxville Collegiate. He came up clutch in his first career round after carding a 4-under 66.
