Ex Tour Pro vs LITTLESTONE GOLF CLUB – A Course that Broke Me
Welcome to the fantastic Little Stone Golf Club on a day that’s probably as benign as you can get. Oh, what is happening? Fast asleep. Oh, I love Lynx Golf. Oh no. Oh, that’s really spinning. Oh, what a beautiful hole. Oh, right. It’s uh you’re going to have to be pretty precise around here. There are bunkers everywhere. No, it’s not on the fairway. [Music] This is a beautiful Lynx golf course. So, let’s go find out. Hi everyone, welcome back to another Academy versus video. And as you can see from the thumbnail, welcome to the fantastic Little Stone Golf Club. Now, Little Stone’s got an 18hole course and a 9-hole course. And we’re going to play the championship course today. Very, very classic Lynx course as you’re going to see lots of bunkers. Let’s hope we can avoid those. But it’s really a great links course in terms of plotting ourselves around. So let’s hope we can do that. So everything you need here. Putting green, got a chipping green over there, practice area, indoor facilities, indoor academy. So we’ve got everything here at Little Stone. So today we got a little bit of wind again. Um probably a bounty about 10 mph. So we’re in for a right treat weatherwise. Right. So the first te’s is just behind me. Trev’s down there ready to go. Well, I think he is anyway. So, let’s go to the first tea and let’s see what Little Stone has to offer. And by the way, it’s been about 40 years since I’ve played this course. I’m really looking forward to playing it again. And I know from friends who play here quite often that this is a beautiful Lynx golf course. So, let’s go find out. Okay, welcome to the first tea here at Little Stone. So, what we’ve got to do is try and keep it out the bunkers and keep it out the rough. So, it looks like the rough’s up here. Um, as you can see, it’s 297 and wind off the right. So, I’m going to hold one in here. Because of the lack of wind, I was thinking of doing four down, but I think I’m going to start five. So, five down could be pushing it a little bit too much, but let’s give myself a challenge. I definitely don’t want to make any bogeies. That is for certain, because uh I’ll be right up against it there. But anyway, we’re going to attack the course and we’re going to attack the first here. Okay, little stone. Let’s see what you’ve got. I faded it into the wind. Hopefully it’s going to go straight through those bunkers. Oh, pitch front edge of the green. I think it may have gone over. Well, I was thinking three would as well. Right. Okay. Let’s see if it’s gone through the back. So, as you can see from the card, it’s not a long course. 67 near enough. and uh of the whites. But like any links course, it’s uh you’re going to have to be pretty precise around here. And especially in the summer, and we’ve had a pretty strong heat wave, you’re going to have to be pretty accurate because the the more firm the ground is, the more accurate you have to be and precise with your yardage. So, little stones are a classic links course. It really is. And you’ll see that with the bunkering and the the mounding, but 6,700 yards and if you get it blowing 20 miles an hour, which isn’t strong because, as you can see from the drone shots at the start, we are right on the coast. So that’s why I started five down. If it was blowing here, well to shoot level par, but because it’s so benign, 10 m an hour warm, and it’s going to play shorter than the yardage, I think I’d start five down. Okay, let’s see where this ball is over the back of the green. See if it held on to the back. Okie dokie. Right, we have uh yeah, we’ve come through the back of the green. Unfortunately, it would have been absolutely great here. We’ve just come off the back here. So, we’re about a few inches inside the thick rough. So, as you can see with the little fly over, we’ve got a little mound to go over, but then it’s downhill. So, anything just over here, it’s not obviously not going to come out with spin because of the lie. Got some grass behind it. So, I need the club to come down. So, it’s going to be a wristy type of action. I pitched on that down slope. Go on. Yeah, I’ll take that all day. Didn’t come out. That little grass behind the ball just kind of killed the strike a little bit. And that’s why you need that wristy downward stroke for a shot like that. Right, let’s see if we can make the birdie. Okay, so haven’t had a putt, so bad preparation. Okay, let’s see if I can get off to a quick start. I need it. I think this is about left lip, I think. Oh, it went the other way. Oh, a bit right to left. Okay, it’s a shame after that drive, but that’s a par on the first. That keeps me five down. There’s that tower. It’s very iconic for Little Stone. Right, the second 409. We’ve got a brook going across the fairway. And it says it’s 290 to it. So I want to probably hit this 270. Judging by that t-shirt on the first, it probably went about 300 odd. Um I’m just going to hit a three iron. Thread it through the two bunkers as you can see and just let the kind of the ground do the work here. Oh yeah, that’s out the middle. It worked out well. See where the distance is. Yeah, slightly on the left side of the fairway. This looks like it opens up the the second shot. Yeah, that worked out well. The T-shot, we’re about kind of 30 yards before that brook there, as you can see. So, I think we’ve got about 135 because the wind’s right to left and in practice, I’ve been actually really working on my fade, so you should really hope to see some fade shots today. Well, I will. I’m going to just hold this in. I don’t want to stand there off these tight lies and hit a really hard wedge. doesn’t really work out off these really tight lies like that. You don’t get the the the ball jumping like that. You get it spinning more. So, I’m just going to hit a nice little comfortable nine iron. Little hold up shot hopefully. Oh, it came out very soft. It’s pretty good for line. Was very good for line. Okay. I don’t know for distance, but it pitched round about the flag hopefully. So, if you’ve been to the playing videos before, you would have heard me say a lot about the the lie first for chipping, but that goes for approach plate on the fairway as well. So, you can see the uh how tight the grass is on this link’s course on the second shot there. So, I played for that extra spin and it did come out pretty soft. Let’s see if it’s got up there pin high. So, I was surprised when I came over the hill there with it being short. So, either that came out extra spinny or I got the yardage wrong. Let’s try and get the pace right. Greens look like they’re going to run nicely. Oh no. Oh, I knew it was short from about 3T out. Damn. Had the line perfect as well for once. Right. So, that’s a par on the second. So after two, I remain five down. Oh, I could have done with that. Right, the third 393. I’ve looked at the yardage chart. There’s a couple of bunkers down the left. Winds right to left. I got to make sure that I don’t turn this at all. It’s a blind T-shot, but I’ve got a couple of poles up there showing me the way, but I’m just going to take it slightly right of that. So, I want to be safe and sorry. Oh, over the black and white one. It’s holding its line though, so it should be okay. Hit it well. Okay, let’s go down there and see if it’s skirted with those bunkers. Patience, it’s really important in golf, good and bad. So, what I mean by that is let’s start off with the bad first. If you get off to a slow start or you make a high number, let’s say for instance Oh. Oh, my ankle. Oh jeez. Oh, just went over my ankle. Right. Oh, I’ve just gone over on my ankle. That’s what you do when you film. You’re looking in the camera and not looking where your feet are going. Right. Okay. What was I saying? Right. Start off with the bad first. That being if you start off slow, make a high number. Let’s say you, I don’t know, you make a double bogey on the first. So, you’re two over after one. and you make another on the second. So, you’re four over after two. Now, if you got a high handicap, it’s okay. But if you’re off nine or six or something like that, so you can press the panic button, can’t we? And uh let’s say for instance, myself, if I’m four over after 14, it’s not that bad. You can make a couple of birdies and you shoot two over, albeit high professional standards, but it’s not as bad as four over after two. And the good is we can all get a little bit excited, can’t we? So, we can be on for our best score. We got four holes to play. Start overthinking it a little bit. So, it’s really important just to hit the shot ahead of you. I know it’s the biggest cliche, but we’re out here. We’re on our own. Our destiny is in our own hands in golf, but we’re out here for quite a long time. Say 4 hours, 3 and 1 half hours. So, it’s a lot of thinking time, isn’t there? So, just keep your patience as best you can, good and bad. Well, that couldn’t have worked out any better. probably discurted slightly with that bunker, but you would have seen by now the bull tracer, which is going to leave us about 50 to the front, maybe 60. So, it could be a tricky one to get close to this cuz if I pitch it on the green cuz we’ve got a bit of wind down, um it may go too long. So, I’m going to have to skirt with the front of the green here. So, I’m not sure, but I’ll just have to play a little spinny one hopefully and pitch it as close to the front of the green as possible. Certainly clipped it. Go. Pitched on that apron and kicked forward luckily enough. Oh, I got it short. Yeah, probably just pitched it a bit too short and the apron killed it, but got a birdie chance. Let’s see if I can take this one. Reasonable effort at it to be fair. Go. Oh, that was a that was a smooth roll. My patience. So after three, my first birdie and now four down. Right. Yes. It’s always nice to get the first one under the belt. Albe it I was talking about my patience, but 418. So I’m going to start it down the path. I’ll highlight it at the clubhouse flag post here. Oh, got it towy. Oh, it’s going to go a long way hopefully. Little bit down the right. Little bit of an inside one, but hopefully that’s gone a long way if it’s hit the fairway anyway. No, it’s not on the fairway. Uh it looks like it’s pitched here cuz we got the uh yeah, the ball mark. So yeah, well positioned bunker. So this is just going to have to be a kind of a just a a whack out really. And then hopefully we can get up and down. Clipped it lovely, but it’s only gone about 70 yards, 60 yards. Okay, this is where I was hoping my drive would be. Anyway, we’re in decent shape just to clip a little uh 56 sand wedge in there. I think we got about 70, probably about 80 yards. It’s all about yardage here cuz we got a little false front, too. Clipped it well. Little left. Oh, no. Short. Right. Let’s see if I can pull the rabbit out of the hat for this pup. Okay, let’s see if we can pull that rabbit out the hat. I’m going hit it pretty firm, so it’s not going to break as much as if it was dead weight. Oh, too far. Yep. Yeah, I didn’t didn’t get it started really a bit too far there. Okay, so that’s a bogey on the fourth and back to five down. Keep that patience. Right, the fifth is par five. 5 2 1 bunkers everywhere. So, I’ve had a look on the map and the bunker you see on the far left there, 294 yards away. So, judging by the first, I can get there with a driver and that’s why I’ve got a 3-wood in my hand. But that brings in the right hand ones into play. So, you’ve really got to commit to your line if you’re choosing a club to lay up or power through. Okay, it’s straight at that bunker. It’s holding up so it shouldn’t go to it. Wind took it a little bit second half, but I think that’s okay. I saw it bounce anyway. You can see I’m way before that bunker that I was trying to lay up, but it’s okay because pretty lethal to go in them. So, I’d rather be safe than sorry, but it’s left me a longer second shot than I thought. I think it’s about 260 uh to the front. I’m going to hit a real powerful three iron. Just try and run it up there. Oh, I got it a little high in the face. It’s a little bit up in the air. Go on. Ah, it’s short. I think it’s about 20 yards short of the green. Yeah, I got that high in the face there. It didn’t come off as quick as I wanted to. Right. Up and down needed. So, the classic Lynx dilemma, that wasn’t it. Off the tea. Do I lay up? That’s going to leave me a longer second shot. or do I take advantage? I can’t with these bunkers. Lynx bunkers, if you ever played a Lynx course. Yeah, once you go in them, there’s no whacking five irons or hybrids out of them. That’s for certain. So, it’s not bunkering just for bunkering sake. It’s just sticking bunkers like I did on the previous hole there. Just pushed it slightly. Yeah. So, perfect placement of bunkering there, little stone. So, that leaves us about 20 yards short of the green. And then we’ve got another 20 yards or so tipping uphill. You’ve got enough room there to land it well on the green. Just going to play a 56 and just let it run out a little bit. Or if you ever played off links tight lies. Oh, what a treat. Oh, clipped it. Nipped it beautifully. Oh, go and you’re in. Oh, right on line from here. Oh, that was an absolute classic. The tightness of the turf and the texture of it really allows for that little nip spin shot. Oh, I love Lynx golf. It’s a little bit further away than I thought. Looks like about 4 ft, something like that. What do we see here? A little bit right to left, I think. Struck well enough to stay on its line. Moved a bit more than I thought. That’s a much needed birdie on the fifth. That puts me back to four down. That was good timing, that’s for certain. Straight after a bogey as well. It’s always to It’s always nice to get one back to the core straight away. Right, first par three. Looks like a beautiful par three with a big old pop bunker at the front. Let’s have a look. Oh, it certainly is. And the pin’s right next to that pop bunker, too. So, it’s 158, but I think that’s to the middle. The pin looks like it’s at the front. So, it’s probably say 150. So, that would probably be in between a nine and an eight. So, I’m just going to hold a little eight iron here. a right to left wind to really make sure I start it on my path and my line. Oh, looking good. It’s all about distance. Oh, the wind’s got it now. Oh, the wind took it. Second half it was fading in. Lovely, but I’ll take that. It could uh get in some trouble on this hole. So, if you’re looking to get a little bit more consistent, if you can get the starting line right, which basically means where the ball starts, if you can get that consistent, then I’ve got a a video coming out, instruction video coming out all about that. And I think I’m going to call it, it’s something like the hack to the golf swing. Um, it’s probably been out by now, so I’ll put it on the screen and I’ll put a link in description to it. And it really gets the path right because if you haven’t got the path right, which is basically the club head coming down into the ball, if you’re too over the top or too into out, you’ve got to try and neutralize that because if you can get it as close as you can to plane, the plane line for that shot, that club, and that was a perfect example of making sure my starting line was not right. Cuz what I didn’t want to do is leave it right in that pot bunker there. Right. Okay. Looks like we’ve got ourselves about a 20 foot pipe. Let’s see can slot it. This would be a very very interesting hole into a 20 25 mph wind. Pin at the back there. Big fall away. Left and long. Beautiful little green. Right. I think we’re about a foot outside left cuz we’re downhill. I can’t race it. So, it’s going to take the maximum break. I hit it too hard. Oh, I hit it too hard. I think that’s not too bad. Just over read it. Okay, that’s a par on the sixth. A third of the way round and I’m four down. Right, one or two birdies before the ninth here. Seventh, second par five, and the last one before the 18th actually, which is the third and final par five. So, let’s try and take advantage of this. Got bunker on our right, but that’s only 250 from here. And we got some gor on the left which is 260. So let’s try and thread it between the both but just inside the right hand bunker. Maybe the corner of this little fence ahead of us. 544. Second shot will be more downwind. It’s pretty much straight across here. Right to left. So let’s get a good drive away. should get a long iron into the green. Oh, that was the best today. That’s my favorite statement, but that was drilled for me. And she’s running, too. Right, let’s go and see what club that’s left in. Time for another birdie, hopefully. So, as you can see with the course map, Little Stone is an out and in course. So, the Ninth is the furthest point away. So, a very classic Lynx course. But yeah, you can see with the map how much it’s a an out and in. So, to answer the question, we’ve got a five iron left. Got the 200 plate here. Right to left wind, albeit slightly quartered down slightly. Those four bunkers aren’t really in play. I wish I hit it this far every time. Oh, got it clean, but slightly left. Leave it wind. Right. It didn’t bounce funny or left or anything like that. Just pulled it slightly. Okay, let’s get up there and see if it’s okay. Perfect for distance. Just shortsided ourselves. We’ve got a little bank here. This is an options tip. I’ve got options here. Lies. Okay. So, I’m just going to pitch this up the top there. We got the wind in our favor here as well. So, I’m going to carry it up here. And this will hopefully take a bit of pace off if I hit it a bit quick as well. In terms of the first bounce, let’s see how we get. I’ve broken record again, so apologize if you’ve uh seen plenty of these. Lie first. So lie dictates. I can pretty much do whatever I like here. I could putt this, but there’s too much apron here. Yeah, I feel comfortable cuz I feel okay with my chipping. Just to drop it on the top of the little hill here, or bank, I should say. Easy. Oh, right. Oh, I thought that was my first eagle. So, there you go. Just playing the options. And you’ve got to obviously execute it as well. So, that’s that little dab shot I’ve talked about in the past where you just kind of have a little wristy, let the club head, let the hinge do the work, and then just drop it. So, you’ve got the height, you got the distance, but there’s some softness to the ball as well. Nice light grip, too. See if we can tuck that one in. So, you don’t get many that come off as you plan, but that one did. Rightyo. So that’s a birdie on the seventh. I’m now three down. Yeah, it’s so important, isn’t it, to get that drive away. I used to say to the junior academy when I had it that need to bookend a hole, be good at driving and be good around the greens. And we can’t always be fantastic strike and approach play. might get the yardage wrong or a slight mis strike, but we can try and be consistent or a little bit more consistent off the tea and round the green. So, I recommend you do the same. It can really take away the stress of the hole and just take away those big numbers, too. Okay, the 8 379. I think it’s another one that makes you think here. [Music] See the bunkers on the left? Uh to it, it’s 305. So, on a normal day, I’m probably not going to get there. So, as much as I want to probably just whack a driver, and we all do, don’t we? Got to try and play the odds here. So, just down the middle, but just hold a little 3-wood in. Yep. Just held up. It’s gone quite high, so probably haven’t got the distance I’m looking for. We didn’t run anywhere, but it’s right in the middle of the fairway. Just plotting ourselves round, especially in Link’s courses, the bunkers. Just trying to put ourselves in the position, even if it means sacrificing one or two more clubs into the green. All right, so we left ourselves a little bit too far back actually. Don’t know if I ballooned it a little bit. It did go quite high that 3-wood. So the pin’s relatively middle of the green, it looks like from here. So we’ve got a false front on our right. So we want to try and avoid that wind right to left. I think we’ve got about 130. Hold off. Cut nine iron. Oh, hit it clean again. Little bit left. Hold your line. I think that could be a bit long cuz I pulled it. Let’s go and take a look to see if it is. Not the best swing that just got that little bit flippy there. I think the starting line was okay, but that’s my bad shot. A little bit flippy. Handsy. So, it’s really important to identify where your miss is. So, where do you miss it and what your bad shot? So, it’s just trying to play the odds a little bit. We can’t be perfect. I think Ben Hogan said he only hit three shots around that he felt that he came out perfect. So, it’s just a game of just trying to play the odds, kind of plot our way around the course. So, anyway, you would have seen that before me. Yeah, about 30 feet away is not great. Okay, let’s find that rabbit in that hat. A little bit left to right. Wind’s into, but it’s not going to do anything. It’s got to be It’s got to be pretty strong to affect the ball. Oh, no. No, no, no. Went straight across the hole. Took a step, didn’t I? Oh, it run out of pace a little bit. Anyway, right, we’re at the furthest point in the course here. So, the ninth is a par three and it is Oh, it’s 204 to the front into the wind as well. So, we’ve got about 220 to the middle and I think I remember this hole from about 40 years ago. Pretty sure I remember like hitting driver into this hole. Anyway, today I’ve got a three iron pins on the left hand side. Stay there. It’s trying to fade. Oh, it’s going to be close if it’s the right club. I just drifted into that bunker. Oh, that was so close to being good as well. If it was enough club, it would have gone around that bunker. But anyway, the first greenside bunker of the day. Oh, didn’t need a lot more. See the ball line just came off that bank. But anyway, as much as this looks pretty uh scary, it’s quite it’s not an easy bunker shot. There is no such thing. But all I’ve got to do is kind of just get it over and let the ground do the work. The tough thing is hitting it hard enough to get the height, but not obviously too um hard. So, in a bunker shot, there is no arc. So, it’s not like a normal shot where we’re kind of arcing around. There is a lot of steepness. So, it’s really getting my hands club out here. steep and let gravity do the rest. Oh, it’s too far. Oh, there wasn’t a lot of sand in there. Oh, there’s less sand than I thought. Felt a little bit more walking in, but it was a perfect amount of sand, but I just played just got it a little bit clean there. Right, I need to hold this pup anyway. I may play this with a bit of pace. I did dribble it. Oh, I dribbled it. Oh, it broke more because of that. Damn. So, that’s a bogey four. And after nine, I’m back to four down. Right, I need a quick start on the back nine to have any chance to even half, I think. Okay, the 10th turn back home now. We’re downwind. 417. So, we’ve got a couple of bunkers. Where are we here? The one on the left is only 200 off the tea. The one on the right is about 280. Right. Okay. So, we need to miss that one on the right, too. Let’s see if we can munch our way down there. A little bit of a dog leg to the right. So, I think the green is behind that bunker. Let’s make sure we start it to the to the left a little bit. Oh, it’s fading just inside that bunker. Come on and take a bounce. Right, I got that right out of the middle. So, let’s hope that’s uh got quite close to the green. So, as we know, we don’t know what’s around the corner in golf. So you can’t really plot ourselves round and say we’re going to do this and that, but the 18th is a par five. So I’m four down with nine to play. So if I can make three birdies in eight holes, worst case scenario, I don’t mind being one down playing the last cuz it’s going to be left to right down so I can use my fade to get extra distance. So I don’t mind that. So although four down with nine to play isn’t the greatest place to be, that’s what I’m thinking. So, I’m thinking three birdies in the next eight holes. Right, let’s do it. Trev, ready to do it. I think he’s up for it, too. Anyway, let’s see if I can uh turn the tide a little bit on this back now. Okay, worked out pretty good. That what I thought was a bunker is a pond, so it must have just skirted, but the fade must have just taken it round up to the top as you can see. Perfect little little pitch in here. here. So, my caddy said it’s about 50 yards to the front and about 25 on from there. He’s looking the other way. So, it’s downwind. So, I don’t want to pitch it too far up the green. Don’t want it running over the back. But, let’s try and get this close. Again, these little nippy lies. So, hopefully a bit of spin. Oh, that’s really spinny. Hopefully, that’s going to stop quick. Not too soft. Oh. Oh, you can really see that spin. Wow. Well, haven’t a pit shot like that in a while. Right, that needs to go in. We’re going to get a lovely sunset tonight as well. No clouds in the sky. So, hopefully uh when we finish off 18, we’re still alive. Links Golf with sunsets. It’s beautiful cuz you can see all the mounding as well on the fairways and the greens, too. Wish me luck this one. I’ll need it. Oh, it’s nothing like those little spinny pitches on these uh lynx grasses. Wow, that really had some nice check on it. All be it too short. Right, I think this is about left lip. I’m not going to give the the hole away. Nice and firm. Oh, it was definitely firm. All right. Oh, I needed that. So, it’s a good start to the back nine, which I needed. So, after 10, I’m now three down again. Wow. Right. The 11th. So, we’ve turned around. We’re back into the wind. What are we? 413. That bunker on the right there. There he is. 245 to it. So, I need to go to the left of that. Yeah, just hit it towards that kind of green side bunker up the top there. Beautiful hole. Wow. It’s got a ditch running along the left hand side. Oh, what a beautiful hole. Green’s up by that camper van there. It’s a highlight. Oh, it was too lovely to see it left to right. Haven’t done it in a long while. Okay, so that’s the uh that’s the drive over and done with. Let’s go and see if it is a seven or an eight iron. It’s actually less than a seven or an eight. I think I’ve got about 135 to the pin into the wind. It’s in between clubs. I’ve got a nine in my hand. I don’t know whether to hit a uh an eight here. May just hit a solid 9 iron. It’s not that windy. It’s probably about half a club wind. Maybe pressing on a club. Yeah, I pulled it a little bit. I saw it bounce. Not the greatest nine iron I’ve ever hit in my life. Let’s see if it’s given me a birdie chance. So, it goes without saying how grateful I am to everyone here at Little Stone for allowing me to come and film and especially to James who I’ve been corresponding with. So, thank you very much. It’s absolute pleasure to play here after 40 years. Yeah, I’m not surprised it has the reputation it has. It’s a really strong golf course. And I’m obviously playing this on a day that’s probably as benign as you can get. And if your golf course, if you’re watching this, would like me to come and play and not only play the match, play against your course, which obviously I will hopefully help me promote the club and uh in my own little way anyway for the channel. A pretty stunning backdrop there, isn’t it? What a beautiful hole this is. Right, it’s worked out better than I thought because there’s a there’s a bank here. You might have seen it come off the bank. It probably did cuz I pulled it more than what is it 15 20 ft something like that. So, right, let’s give this our best chance. This is a great birdie to try and get here. The fortunate local knowledge there. Anyway, let’s see if we can take advantage of it. Okay, what do we see? I think it’s I think it’s slightly right to left cuz there’s a bowl here. So, everything’s coming off that bunker quite severely downhill. So, it’s going to take any break that’s there. So, I’ll need to read this correctly. It’s coming behind you. I think there’s a slight left to right at the start and then it’s going to start feeding right to left from about here. Let’s see if I read this right. Don’t break. Don’t break. Oh, it didn’t break. Oh, I got away with it, I think. Oh, but I’ll take it. Fast start on this back nine. So after 11, I’m now two down. Oh, that’s given me a chance at Oh, it didn’t break. It just held its line. Also, I read it wrong, but I don’t mind in this case. Okay, the 12th. I think it’s about 438. 428. And there’s a bunker at 3:28. So, I’m having to be a bit more conservative again cuz if I hit driver well, that’s got a chance to go in. So, I’m going to hit this 3-wood. And it’s down off the left the wind. Oh, I hit that. Well, slightly down the right. Yep, we hit that. All right, that. So, hopefully that’ll leave me about a wedge in. So, let’s get down there and find out. Okay, down the right side. I don’t think that’s a 3-wood. I think that’s more forward that club. Anyway, I think we’ve got about 150. But remember, 150 isn’t our pitching distance. This is probably about 140 145. I’m going to hit a hard wedge. Balls blow our feet. So, hydraulics down and then just swing as normal. Oh, it’s come out a bit soft. Oh, no. Go. Not sure. I can see it on the green, but I don’t know the distance. Oh, it came out spinny again. Wow, these fairways, you know, just came out a bit soft on that lie again. I haven’t really left a birdie putt. Anyway, it’s downhill the last 8 ft, 6 ft. See if I can track it. Oh, not that much. Stop the birdie run. Okay, there’s a par on the 12th. So, with six to play, I’m two down. As you can see with the sun, it’s pretty low. So, going to get my skates on here. This is what Lynx golf is all about. Wow, what a beautiful hole. 13 407. So, a couple of bunkers up there. The one on the right isn’t in play, but the one on the left is. It’s about 280 to it. I’m going to fade it off it. Take it straight over the bag. Straight over Trev. It’s fast asleep as per usual. Oh, out of the middle. Come on. Keep fading. Come on. Oh, it’s a tight one, but I think I saw it bounce and just kick up a little slope and back down again. I didn’t see it finish. Right, let’s see where this drive’s gone. If you’re an Academy supporter, it’s good news. I’m about 5 yards short of that bunker. Just going down the hill now where I saw it disappear. So, got away with that. I’ll just show you. Here we go. My green’s just up there. Okay, let’s see if we can send one in close here. So, it looks to me the pins at the back. The wind into our far left. I think I’ve got about 140 145. I’m going to hit a really solid nine iron knowing it’s not going to go long. Use a bit of wind, too. Oh, came off it a little bit. Hold your line. Oh, came off it. That’s what made it go short, I think. Just got it a little late again. Well, you would have seen before me. Yeah, not too bad. Give myself pretty good like 15 footer up the hill there. Yeah, it’s up the hill again. Right. Okay, come on. Let’s give this a good run. If I hold this, I think I’ve got a chance. But concentrate on what I’m doing. Let the results take care of itself, hopefully. Hold, hold, hold. Oh, that worked out well again. Wow. Oh, this back line’s proving to be pretty fruitful, if I can say it properly. So that’s a birdie on 13. Oh, I’m now only one down. You okay, Trev? You hungry? Dinner time soon. Okay, 14. I think it’s about 185 to the middle. Maybe 190 cuz the pins at the back. Wind’s right to left. Little down. Just a little bit. Just a hair. But with my fade, I think I can really commit to like a six iron here. Hold it in a little bit. Pitch it in the middle of the green. Oh, I got it a little clean. Is it enough? Probably not. Oh, that was really clean. Right, let’s hopefully it’s on the dance floor. The sun’s getting low as you saw. Beautiful evening, but got to get going. I want to play the 18th in the dark if I make it there. Doesn’t look too much in it. A little bit left to right, I think. Easy. Yeah. Little bit steamy downhill. A bit further than I wanted. Take the flag out cuz it’s leaning a little bit this way. Okay. Just managed to sneak it in there. That’s a par and 14. I remain two down. All right, time to get a birdie before that 18th. Okay, the 15th. I think it’s 354 from what I just saw. 354 dog leg to the left, wind left to right. So, not sure this is a driver, but my clubs are up there. I’m just going to play a driver over the middle of that bunker. Just let the wind and fade take it. Oh, that was a late evening one. That was a bit necky. It’s got the right a little bit. I didn’t see it bounce. Oh, I need to check my glasses. I think it’s okay. Oh, for a bit of a necky one, it did well. So, I’m in prime position here. Had more room to the right than I thought, actually. Um, but anyway, we’ve got a little pitch up here into the wind and the pins on the left, but we’re down the right as you can see. So, happy days. So, let me just clip one in here. Hopefully, it’s going to be nice and spinny. Probably about 50 yards. Oh, it’s really clippy. Oh, it’s a little late. Kick to the right a little bit. Not great. You really have to adjust to the this turf. Ball just kind of climbs up the face and spins. So, yeah. Beautiful to play off, but just takes a bit of adjusting. Okay. So, this is a great chance uphill. A little bit left to right, I think. Left lip. I’m going to hit it quite firm. Hold your line. Oh, man. Thought that was in then. Right. I’m really up against it now. That’s a par on 15. Oh, I needed a birdie. I’m two down, three to play. That was a chance. So, I’m on the 16th green now, but I’ll put this on to just after the putt, just before I tee off. I realize I’m only one down. So, I put overdue pressure on myself there on that putt, but I’m only one down with three to play. Well, it’s all the faffing around with the cameras. You kind of lose track a little bit. Anyway, one down with three to play it is. All right, this is not a good time to be faced with a 464 par 4 16. Good news is down off the left. I think I’ll just send it just inside this bunker which I can carry. Oh, right. Come on. Oh, that’s a towing under, but it’s okay. Yep. Over that bunker, but it bounced. So, Oh, I can definitely feel it’s late in the day. Right. Come on. Let’s stick one in there close. Oh, don’t you love those Terry ones? Oh, this has gone a long way. Only about 100 yards short of the green. Play a little 52 in there. I don’t think it’s a 56. It’s spinning off the front there. Bit of a false front. Right, let’s get this in there. Close. Need it. Line drifting a bit. Right. It looked a bit long from here. Hopefully it’s not. We’re losing the light a little bit. The sun’s gone behind a cloud there. We haven’t got a lot of daylight left. Right, it’s time to make a birdie p. Yeah, I’ve just realized I’m only one down, not uh two down anyway. Wouldn’t have made any difference. Still do the same thing. Okay, not too bad, but 15 ft downhill, right to left. Hold your line. Oh no. Oh no. Oh no. Okay, so that’s a par and 16. So I’m not two down. I’m one down, two to play. Oh, no one likes the old horseshoe. Okay, great. Par three now. 17. It’s 164 to the front plus probably about maybe 15 yards. So 180ish downhill, downwind, left to right. So 180 pitching at 170 would be a six. I’m going to play an eight. So I’m going to get it right up in the air. Use the downhill and the downwind. See if we can get this close. Oh wow. Two to go, one down. Oh, that’s my best strike with an iron today. It’s all about the distance. Didn’t see it bounce. It’s not the front, I don’t think. Right, let’s get up there before it gets darker. Okay, I’ll bring you up here as I normally do. And it’s quite good news. Just a little bit past and keep pitch there. I think we’re just going to be okay for light. There’s not going to be another woodlands finishing in the pitch black. Okay, we’re uphill right to left. Oh, what is happening? No one likes the old Harry horseshoes. Okay. Can’t do anything about it now. Just a par on 17. Oh no, a little stone. That puts you dormy one up. What’s in my favor? There’s a par five next to finish with. Oh no. That was that was nasty. Right. Okay. The 18th. As you can see, there are bunkers everywhere. Oh, glasses are steeping up. Right. Birdie required first of all. Fairway is required. Okay. It started pretty straight. Little bit to the right, but it should be short of that far one. I wish I could see, but I can’t. Worked out. Okay. Pretty close to that right hand bunker, but I don’t think it mattered what club you hit. You’re gonna unless you really lay it up, but that brings that left hand one into play. Anyway, we’re in good shape. We’re about 10 yards, 8 yds behind the 200 to the to the front. So, we’ve got about 208 to the front plus I think the pin looks way back. So, it looks like it’s a pin and a green. You can’t miss to the right. Anyway, I’ve changed the settings on the drone, so it should be a bit lighter. Should be able to see. Oh, I am stiff now. Right. Come on. One good swing, Warren. It started left side of the green. Fade and wind. Okay, it started left. It’s trying to fade. Okay, I’m not sure. Didn’t hear anything. I didn’t see anything. We need to go and find out. Right. Okay. We’re in this bunker here. Looks like there’s quite a lot of sand in there on the up slope, so it’s easy to really fat this. Um, you got a bit of room to play with. And it’s downhill. Quite a lot of sand here, so I have to hit this quite hard. Get this quite precise, I think. Oh, came out well high. Did it run out? Oh, it ran out. You know, that looks pretty good. Pretty close, right? Let’s see. Let’s see if I can knock that in for the half. Right. Okay. It worked out really well. Oh, thank goodness. Still got a little bit of work left, though. Two feet, something like that. Right to left, I think. Outside the hole. Okay, pretty good up and down. Well, in the circumstances, very good up and down. So, that’s a birdie on 18. Oh, so Little Stone. Oh, yeah. I’ve got an amazing golf course. Oh, that was really hard just to get a half, but I’ll take a half. So, Academy versus Little Stone Golf Club Match All Square. So, as per usual, I’ll just go over to the clubhouse, say a few words in closing, and uh I’ll see you over there. Okay, everyone. So, we’ve just decided to make our way to the edge of the first te here, as you can see. And oh, what a beautiful golf course, people of Little Stone. Oh, you’ve got amazing golf course here. I was feeding my back a little bit out there with a few holes to go. So, I’ve got to get home. Trev’s got to get home. He’s got to have his dinner. And we’ll see you next time. So, thanks very much for watching. Thanks for making it this far if you have. and we’ll see you then. Cheerio. Right. Should we go? Dinner time. Dinner time. Let’s go.

I needed this video today. Terrible things going on in the US at the moment. This will bale a nice break for a little while.
Was the reason you were coming off your irons due to tearing your right foot ligament? I had a Swing Coach who wanted me to keep my right heel off the ground during the swing. I believe it was to stop my sway. Now he is worried about my right knee not staying in place so I can’t coil. I want to Thank You for the Vertical Drop video! I’m working hard!!!
Played both the Championship Links and The Warren which is actually ( or was ) a great little shortish 18 hole course ( great tough first hole ) Proper old clubhouse with that golf history feel. Love the place !
To watch Warren play Littlestone was once again a master class on ball striking and on how you play this game with all its variables, the bigest variable being me and you. To be able to play so consistently just prooves how important the set up is, pactice drills and a suitable mind set with sutable information. We need to understand how we play golf and our phisical limintations that effect how we can swing the club. That way you can make effective change, this will then give us that consistency we know we are capable of. They have never standardised the colour blue so go and explore your own golf colour palette.
The golf season here in Glossop finished over night so to have all these golf courses that you have filmed and played will be a great help to us all as the nights draw in. Thanks again Warren.
I play the warren a lot it’s 18 hole and also great
Warren, I can only assume you ear plenty of carrots
Hope the ankle heals well. This was good.
Delightful links course. Thanks Warren. So many courses, so little(stone) time…..😀
Another good watch Warren, cheers.
Instructional videos are great, but even better when the teacher post tour player, gets out on the course to demonstrate how you put it all together. My favorite channel on the Tube by far!
Great video that does justice to a fantastic and very underrated course. Super golf too!
