ROSS Golf Club’s latest major Summer honours board cup competition saw 95 men taking part in the annual Bradley Court Cup, reports KEITH RAY.
The bogey format is based on match-play wins against the course handicap when one’s handicap-adjusted net score on each hole is better than par.
The occasion proved extra special for 17-year-old Isaac Vitale, a four handicapper, who delivered a remarkable four under par net 68 which included six birdies and just two shots dropped to par.
Isaac’s +8 finishing score made him a decisive champion, which he said was largely due to him using ideas learnt from the Happy Gilmore golf movies.

As Isaac played each shot, just like Adam Sandler in the films, he focused on something in his life which made him happy, which enabled him to experience what in golfing terms is referred to as ‘flow state’ and ‘being in the zone’.
Peter Smith +6 was runner-up followed by Phil Andrews +5, Roger Bennett +4 and a host of +3 scorers, Ian Kitchiner, Rob Symonds, Kingsley Matthews, Antony Graham and Paul Vitale, Isaac’s proud dad.
Former John Kyrle pupil Isaac, who is seeking his PGA qualification at Hartpury College and now with a 2.6 World Handicap Index, can look forward with confidence to a promising golf career.
Mindful that he kick-started his career at 12 joining the Ross club’s Tim Hall School of Golf Juniors’ Academy, Isaac will also be looking forward to the club’s annual prize-giving presentation evening on Saturday (September 13).
This follows the annual knock-out finals, when eyes will be on the two 36-hole match play events to decide the 2025 men’s and ladies club champions.
This sees Tom Shotton and Marcus McEvoy both aiming to become first time men’s winners, while Sally Fycun and Sophie Price contest the ladies’ final.
