SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State women’s golf team will begin their 2025-26 season Monday at the Leadership and Golf Invitational, which is co-hosted by Seattle and Washington and played at Chambers Bay Golf Course in University Place, Wash.

The Aztecs will play 36 holes Monday and 18 Tuesday. Both days will start with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.

The 17-team tournament field comprises of nearly all West Coast schools and features Mountain West counterparts Fresno State and San Jose State. Other schools competing include: Cal Poly, Colorado, UC Davis, Oregon State, Long Beach State, San Francisco, Grand Canyon, Eastern Michigan, Hawai’i, Arkansas Little Rock, Louisiana Monroe and the host schools Washington and Seattle.

Head coach Lauren Dobashi (5th season) will use the lineup of Kylie Phi, Nikki Kato, Ema Narita, Stephanie Barbaglia and Manon Martin

Phi (Fountain Valley, Calif.) started all 11 tournaments for the Aztecs in her freshman season. She had a team-best five rounds below par and set a school record by winning Mountain West Freshman of the Week three times.

Kato (Redmond, Wash.) has played in eight tournaments with seven starts across her first two seasons at SDSU. Last year she shot a career-low even par 72 in the second round at this tournament.

Narita (Tokyo, Japan) has finished second in scoring among Aztecs in her first two years on The Mesa. Last year she had a team best 95.2% count percentage (29.5-31) and had the team’s best stroke average in the spring while leading SDSU in four of their six spring tournaments.

Barbaglia (Johannesburg, South Africa) has finished as SDSU’s top golfer in each of the last two seasons. Last year she tied a career-low with a 213, which included a career-best 67, at this tournament.

Manon Martin is the lone freshman on this year’s team. She comes from Courbevoie, France where she placed third at the 2025 Championnat de Ligue. In 2024, she won the Grand Prix du Golf PGA France Du Vaudreuil, took second in the Grand Prix de Saint-Malo, placed third in the Grand Prix du Stade Français and fourth in the Grand Prix Dames de la Ligue PACA.

This is the third straight season, the Aztecs have opened their season at this tournament. They placed fourth (out of 16 teams) last year and were led by Barbaglia’s T-7th place finish (213, -3).

Chambers Bay is a links style course along the shores of Puget Sound and was named the best public course in Washington State by Golf Week.

The forecast on Mondays calls for partly cloudy skies with temperatures reaching the low 70s. On Tuesday, it will be warmer with temperatures in the high 70s.
