MIDDLEBURY, VT (September 13. 2025) – The Tufts University men’s golf team teed off on their 2025-26 season at the Duke Nelson Invitational with round one taking place early Saturday morning. The Jumbos finished 13th out of 20 teams in the competition after round one.

Three Jumbos earned the same score through round one, with juniors Brendan Roy and JP Noone joining senior Holden Kittelberger with six over par. Jumbo debutant Brooks Cahill-Sanidas and junior Nick McCabe also competed for Tufts as they combined for 13th place and a team score of 28 over par.

Roy’s day kicked off with an inauspicious front nine. His prospect improved on the back nine as he finished hole 14 with a birdie. Ultimately, seven bogies kept him six strokes above par with a 77. He finished in 32nd place individually.

Kittelberger started his day with an immediate birdie on hole one but finished out the front nine with a few bogies. Two birdies on holes 10 and 13 helped him finish even with Roy with six over par. Kittelberger also ended round one in 32nd place individually.

Noone didn’t match Kittelberger’s feat of a birdie on hole one, but followed it up with a birdie on hole two instead. He finished the front nine with a birdie again, but five bogies down the back stretch kept him even with Roy and Kittelber with a six over par.

Cahill-Sanidas finished his first round with the Jumbos as the final scoring golfer, taking home a 10 over par and 76th place individually after round one.

McCabe finished round one 13 over par, highlighted by a round-opening birdie on hole one and another on hole 16.

Round two of the Duke Nelson Invitational continues tomorrow at 9:00 am.
