PGA TOUR and U.S. Open champion Webb Simpson believes in the @firsttee, and after meeting a few recent grads in Atlanta, we completely understand why.
Our own Addie Parker joins a scramble, presented by @wellsfargo, with Nyla Sims, Anthony Ford and Kristen Nwadike – with a very special appearance by Webb himself – at Bobby Jones GC to learn more about their experiences and the continued commitment by Wells Fargo to keep the program thriving for young golfers around the U.S.
The intersection of golf and culture.
Behind every drained putt or hosel rocket into the stands is a human being with complex emotions—among them, an insatiable appetite for golf. That’s what we’re after. Golf’s humanity is what makes it so special to us. There have never been more reasons to love this game, and we’re endeavoring to explore them all.

All right, we’re here at the Bobby Jones Golf Course in Atlanta. I’m with some friends. We’re here with Wells Fargo and the first TE. The Wells Fargo supporting the first se tournament going on today. And I’m excited to hang out with you guys. Truly, this is going to be a ton of fun. Yeah. So, I think we need to roll some putts, though. Kind of get us warmed up. For sure. Should we do a little like closest to the close to the flag? I like that. I like that. I feel like whoever goes last has a significant advantage to get to watch. So, you’ll go last. No, actually, you go first. I’ll be first. I’ll be the I mean, if we’re going here Oh, boy. Oh, wow. These are brand new, so I’m literally taking the plastic off. It’s maybe not the best idea to do right before tournament. We’ll see how it goes, but I’m excited. These are gorgeous. I’m excited to get them a little dirty, break them in a little. We’re going to have some fun today. [Music] Love, thank you so much for joining us today. We have you for a few holes here with our friends Wells Fargo for this first tea scramble. What’s the importance of this partnership and just the power of possibility, giving people an opportunity to be a part of a community? It it’s it’s really cool. Well, I think Wells Fargo has seen just the uniqueness of the first TE in the chapters throughout the country and they’ve been consistent in their support of the first TE chapters and I know from experience since 2009 in Charlotte getting my first experience of the first TE chapter there in that community. Um, I was really blessed to see the passion that not only the Junior GR has had to learn this great game that has brought me so much in life, uh, but also that Wells Fargo has continued to invest in local chapters. Nice. I want to go. That worked. That was team. Made our job easy. [Music] Best Encourse golf snack. So, I’m about to get judged here, but don’t judge till you try it. It does sound gross, but it tastes amazing. Okay. So, my wife makes some homemade sourdough bread and instead instead of almond butter and jelly, I go almond butter and butter. I can I can sense your judgment a little bit. No, never judgement. We live judgement. We listen and we don’t love it. I love it. Perfect. And walk it in. Well done. Hey, great to meet you. That was so much fun. So good to meet y’all. Be with you. Nice to meet you. I have this thing that I I have a series on Scratch called Add’s Baddies where it’s basically like the cool hot golfer, someone who does something kind of just like fly and suave. I fear you’re it web. Like you’re you’re appreciate it. You gave us the juice that we needed. So I appreciate you. Thank you. I appreciate that. I mean, are you kidding me? Do we even need to hit right now? That is ridiculous. Anthony AJ, you just graduated from Howard. I did. The first te kind of taught you and like what are some lessons that you’re now applying to your adult life? Yeah, I mean I’m coaching back home so I’m around a lot of kids and I just see the spark when I tell them something to change in their swing and they hit it, you know, so much better and that just that’s for me that’s that’s what it’s all about. Hi everyone, my name is Nyla Sims. I’m a recent graduate of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. You are part of the first future entrepreneurs powered by Wells Fargo. How was that? Oh my goodness, it was incredible. They selected three H.B.CU students and it’s basically to give them a mentor and kind of give them like a professional and personal development. And then to play golf with Rory Malori was even more incredible. So, I just felt like I was dreaming the whole time I was there. [Applause] When I first started playing golf, I wasn’t the best. I will shank the ball and I would top the ball and I’m like is golf even for me right? So through the you know the mentorships of you know different coaches and staff we like you know I’ll just stay with it. Grew through the program had an awesome community and it’s like the best kept secret. I wish more people would be involved. Jesus need to add a profession. Mom gave birth to professional golfers. I don’t think she realized. Damn. This is her hole. Going home. Oh, please. My goodness. Oh my gosh. Oh my god. We’ve been here with So, we’ve been here with Wells Fargo all day and it’s pretty cool that we all grew up in the first two program and over the last 14 years, Wells Fargo has raised over $2 million for the first two program na nationwide. So, it’s pretty cool that the next ones up get to experience kind of the resources and the benefits of such an amazing partner. But like I don’t know like what do you guys think that you would do with like $2 million when if you had it and you had to give it back to the first te? What would you do? Like what would you do differently if you could do something for like younger you? Um I think for me um maybe towards scholarship you know education access is a big thing. you know, a lot of people are trying to go to college or like to trade school, just trying to guarantee that kids um can get in for like the least amount of loans possible if no debt um particularly. So, I think that’s what I would do. I love that. For me, I would most likely um invest in like a golf equipment for students and then technology so they’re up to date with things and they get to use like Trackman or different, you know, Flight Scope, everything so that they have that information to become the best golfers they can be. I’m going to second that. Na, you took my answer. Um, equipment and technology and facilities, just being, you know, letting the golf be the only thing they need to f focus on, not the scholarship or finance part, just being able to play and um, be at, you know, even playing field with everybody else. Yeah, I think you guys each said something really cool about you’ve gotten these experiences along the ride of being a part of First T. I think I would probably invest mine in like the experience, like giving the kids a reason to like go to a tournament or like get to meet the pros or do something kind of cool. Like we all want to travel. We all want to get exposed to some stuff. So I think that’s probably what I would do. Yes. And then also investing in programs like this. What a day. Thank you to our friends Wells Fargo for supporting the first te. Who would have thought that a bunch of alums would come together and have this much fun? But uh what a day. What a day. I wish we could do this every day. Seriously, a good day in the office for it. But uh thank you again to our friends at Wells Fargo. This is awesome. Thank you. Thank you.
