FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State Men’s Golf team heads to Omaha, Nebraska for the Creighton-hosted Bluejay Invitational at Shadow Ridge Country Club on September 15-16.
 
Tournament Schedule
The Bluejay Invitational will be a 54-hole tournament played across two days, with the first 36 holes being played on Monday and the final 18 on Tuesday. Both days are scheduled to tee off at 9:00 a.m. CT.

The Tournament Field
Hosted by Creighton, the Bluejay Invitational will feature 11 teams in the competition. Along with the Bison, the field includes Southern Utah, North Dakota, Northern Colorado, Canisius, St. Thomas (MN), Lindenwood, Drake, Bradley, and Omaha.
 
The Course
Located in West Omaha, Shadow Ridge Country Club features a championship level 18-hole course designed by the architects from Jackson Kahn Design. Consistently rated as one of the best courses in Nebraska, the par-72 course has a yardage of 7,079 from the back tees. The 600-yard second is one of the course’s signature holes. Shadow Ridge has hosted a wide variety of tournaments, including youth tournaments, collegiate events for both Creighton and Omaha, and acts as a U.S. Senior Open Qualifying site annually. In May of 2025, Shadow Ridge was the host of a sold-out Barstool Classic qualifier, a fun competition for everyday golfers with the chance to win $20,000 hosted annually by Barstool Sports.
 
Bison at the Bluejay
This will be NDSU’s first appearance at the Bluejay Invitational as it is the tournament’s inaugural year.
 
Last Time Out
NDSU enters the Bluejay Invitational following a season opening win at the Metropolis Intercollegiate, where senior Rylin Petry picked up his first career win and coach Dr. Ekren Miller secured his first win as a Bison in his debut. Senior Gabe Benson recorded his highest finish as a Bison at 14th and as the only other golfer from NDSU within the top-15 at the event.
 
Bison Competing
The Bison will be taking five golfers to the Bluejay Invitational. The golfers competing in the event will be the winning lineup from last week’s season opener, including: Gabe Benson, Rylin Petry, Jake Skarperud, Carter White, and Max Wilson.
 
Bison Notes
– Rylin Petry enters the Bluejay Invitational following his first career victory at the Metropolis Intercollegiate. Petry recorded nine birdies and 35 pars over three rounds to win the event by one shot. Subsequently, Petry was named the Kwik Star Summit League Men’s Peak Golfer of the Week for the third time in his career on Thursday.
 
– Gabe Benson led the team at the Metropolis Intercollegiate with ten birdies and the lone Bison eagle of the tournament, posting his highest Bison finish at 14th. Benson recorded a career low 54-hole score of 219.
 
– Carter White will compete for the second time as a Bison, following his collegiate debut at the Metropolis Intercollegiate. White recorded seven birdies and two rounds of 73 in the event to finish inside the top-25 of his first career tournament.
 
Looking Ahead
Following the Bluejay Invitational, the Bison will head to West Des Moines, Iowa for the Zach Johnson Invitational. Hosted by Drake, the event will take place at Glen Oakes Country Club on September 22-23.
