Every year is a big year for big-time golf-club companies, with continual new releases and technologies to help golfers play their best.

With the golf season winding down, and another round of club launches presumably right around the corner, which brands have had the biggest years in the fitting bays?

On this week’s episode of GOLF’s Fully Equipped, Bryan LaRoche, owner of Fleming Island, FL’s BryanGolf, answered that very question for the different equipment categories.

He started with Ping drivers.

“A lot of Ping woods, a lot of Ping drivers, all the drivers,” LaRoche said. “Like a lot of [G440] SFT. Them doing the 9-degree in SFT is one of the most underrated moves in custom club fitting history in my mind.”

With Ping’s G440 line released at the beginning of the year, the company added a 9-degree loft option for the draw-biased SFT model, which stands for Straight Flight Technology. In previous lines, the SFT head was only available with 10.5˚ of loft.

The G440 driver family (MAX, LST, SFT) is optimized to deliver more ball speed through multiple advancements, including PING’s deepest CG in a driver to date and a shallower, thinner face, while continuing to ensure the game-changing forgiveness expected from a PING driver. Golfers in need of slice-correction technology fit best in the G440 SFT (Straight Flight) option, which features a two-position (Draw and Draw+), adjustable 23-gram back weight. HIGHLY FORGIVING Lighter head weight allows for heavier back weight.  FASTER FACE  Shallow, thinner, face increases ball speed for more distance, higher launch.  SOUND DESIGN New shaping, carbon crown and internal ribs produce muted impact experience.  FREE-HOSEL DESIGN Saves weight to lower CG, increase forgiveness. Allows for more heel-side face flexing for consistent ball speed across face.

LaRoche said that helped solve a huge problem for the target SFT player.

“I couldn’t fit too many guys into the 10.5, because most of those guys who are needing an SFT, they’re not just struggling with a big fade, they’re also struggling with spin,” LaRoche said. “We’re able to get a lot of guys into the SFT.”

When it comes to irons, LaRoche said Titleist came “in from the top rope here at the end of the summer” with their new 2025 T-Series lineup.

“You can pretty much fit anybody into the Titleist irons,” he said. “You can find some iron, especially if somebody needs a little bit of height. And I know we talk in fitting, and we hear with Titleist’s every video, it’s 3Ds, 3Ds. The 3Ds are real.”

When it comes to fairway woods, LaRoche said he ran the risk of sounding like a broken record, but said TaylorMade’s Qi35 line was “pretty much unbeatable.” He added that making all the 3- and 5-woods adjustable across the line has been a huge help.

As for putters, LaRoche said he doesn’t have any putter fitting technology at his shop, but he can still fit L.A.B. Golf putters thanks to their fitting technology, which only requires them to find lie angle and length.
