Tonight from Camden yards in Baltimore. It’s the Pittsburgh Pirates against the Baltimore Orioles game two of the three game interleague series. The Happy Paul Skes day to you here. He is the big man. It is the 30th start of the season for Paul Skes. Kind of a milestone start for a guy who’s looking for a cy young , no one in the history of major league baseball has posted this low of an, er, a for pitchers 1st 52 starts in the live ball era and he strikes him out with the fastball. It’s 97 right by Jackson Hall who strikes out to open the bottom of the first. It is just absolutely remarkable what we are watching in real time. It’s almost like we don’t appreciate it enough. Can you believe it? But because it’s such a unicorn , it’s so good, so great at the start of his career, he strikes him out with a fastball down the middle. That’s 197 punch outs for the season. 11 pitches in the first inning. A little tapper here could be trouble. He has no chance on the bare hand and that’s one way to beat Paul Skeens hit it too softly infield, single for Mount Castle and rips the ground ball to second base. It’s Yorke and it’s just in time for 463, double play swing and a foul tip struck him out that strikeout. Number three for Paul through the first two innings. Nothing, nothing. Pirates. And Orioles start number two for Tyler Wells in his return from right elbow UCL surgery in a long time. We’ve seen Tyler Wells in this ballpark deals and it tipped off into the global and held for strike three second strikeout tonight for Tyler Wells, curveball cut on and missed for strike three back to back strikeouts for Tyler Wells swing and a miss him away with a fastball. Tyler Wells. Welcome back. 123. You just blew away the side. Dylan Carlson leads off the scoreless. Oh, wow. Good night. Ya. Good luck. I don’t, I don’t, I don’t think Paul could have walked this 60 ft six inches into the plate and put it in a better spot. My goodness 199 for the season. Looking for his first. You would presume of many 200 strikeout seasons. And Beavers jolts this one deep to right field and off the base of the wall, Dylan Beavers on an 02 fastball cranks a double and he just barely missed a home run that would have been a home run in nearly half the parks in the league. 14 out of 30 Dylan Beaver’s second hardest hit ball in the big leagues and the Orioles said their second hit and their first legitimate one with a runner at second for Kobe Mayo. Will this be the pitch to get him to 200 for the year? There it is 200 strikeouts for Paul schemes that ball out 200 Ks status quo for Paul Skeens. I don’t think he wanted this pitch to end up where it did in fact, but certainly gets away with it. Tyler Wells, who has struck out four Pirates with three perfect innings and his first home start to the 1st 10 in this game through three innings, eight swings and misses. He hasn’t done that in three years only once. Has he retired more to start the game second time around the lineup. Now you expect the Pirates have pretty decent at bats after now getting a look, Spencer, the native swings and ropes went out to deep right field toward the wall and gone home run for Spencer hz. You hear the fans cheering his first home run as a big leaguer in his home state of Maryland and the Pirates have a one nothing lead, not disappoint. He knew it right when he hit and he points to his family that here as he touched his home plate and a lot of high fives in that dugout. Now, with the prates up in a no hitter and the shutout all in one big swing Sam to lead off the bottom of the fifth one. Pittsburgh and bust him inside strike three, call, seven strikeouts for schemes tonight. He’ll take over the national league strikeout lead faces the Orioles for the first time and Carlson, wow. Holy smoke. Operative word is smoke. And Paul Skeens having a night here in Baltimore first time facing the Orioles through five innings. He has struck out eight Paul Schemes night is over after just five innings gets to 178 on the season. Seems like more late season maintenance. The Orioles are happy to see literally anybody else in the game after an amazing five innings. He will be replaced by Carmen Laski in his 30th game of the season with a leadoff man aboard his third base runner tonight. That is right on the money and we talked about this last night , greg, how impressive it has been to watch Henry davis develop from behind the plate this year. The throwing has been very, very good, very accurate. I always like to say with catchers, if you’re not noticing them back there, they’re probably doing a very good job swing and a miss struck him out , Tyler well, is going to have to fight the rain as it’s arrived here in downtown Baltimore as we move into the seventh inning, 22 swing and a Miss reynolds is down on strikes to open up the seventh inning strikeout number six for Wells, 81 pitches, 55 strikes six and that’s vaulted high in the air, but playable out in left Carlson through the drizzle mopes over to his right. He’s underneath it. A one handed squeeze for out number 26 and two thirds for Tyler Wells tonight allowed just one hit. Tony Manlio will come get the baseball after two long at bats in the seventh and a look up at his right hander and applaud him for a job well done. The Camden yards crowd will oblige. It’ll be nick Yorke to lead it off for the Pirates as we start the eighth inning, swinging a soft ground ball toward third Jackson playing back and he flips it and I don’t think he’s going to get him anyway. That’s an infield hit for nick Yorke broken bat, a little dribbler down the third base line. Jeremiah Jackson over at third base was not able to pick that ball up. He had to go a long way. They walks for the second time. He is both of the Pittsburgh walks tonight. Now, the lineup card is going to flip over for Jared Triolo, who’s yet to get a hit, cut him into pieces. That’s Kane with a K Stroud Strands two and the Orioles are still knocking on the door just a one nothing deficit through 7.5. And so Matson pulled off a magic act last night keeping the Orioles from scoring in the 10th Colton Cowser will lead it off. Colton trails a change up to right field and that ball bangs off the wall to Brian reynolds. He hit it so hard that he couldn’t get past first, but that is one of Colton K’s best swings against top speed this year for isaac Manson. He’s holding opponents to a 186 batting average against the middle. It’s a base hit will pump the brakes at second. You see enough fastballs on 2 to 2. Yes, you can sit on one and that’s exactly what Dylan Carlson did and that will end the night for Isaac Matson in all likelihood with the lefty Evans Sisk warming. Although there’s no sign of Don Kelly yet, Matson is going to stay in there against holiday either way, it’s going to be Matson try to wriggle free from this self created jam in the eighth with the time run at second Johnson behind him at first. It’s a ground ball through the left side. Jackson. Ho attacks the opposite field as he’s done so masterfully in his second year, we are tied in the eight as Halliday gets the job done. The third hit for the Orioles in this inning. Orioles have been involved a lot of tight games lately. Tommy F last night tied it leading off the top of the ninth inning and he walked him. So instead, Cruz will bat against Garcia, a change of pace. Enrico garcia elevates the off. Speed strikes out Cruz and the Orioles can walk it off again. And now here comes Samuel. Well, he was your hero yesterday. Does he have anything in store for you on this Wednesday night? Trying to get to the 10th, the one to swing and a miss struck him out and Santana sends down the heart of the order in order for the second straight night, we’ll go to extra innings. Tom Nicholas was all over the place on all four pitches that he delivered to who is willing to sacrifice his at bat. But Pittsburgh in efficiency in the strike zone have a runner at first and at second base, they’re not going to get anything out of this. Nicholas slipped at first hesitated and lost everybody safe and the Pacers are loaded. What a week for the rookies? Can they shine here again? And now it’s all stopped for Beavers in his 20th major league game. The Orioles do it again. But when they do, they prefer walk offs. Beaver’s first career walk off for me. Four straight wins. Be a walk off for the Os.

It's amazing how advanced Beavers is. He just makes Coby Mayo, his much more celebrated prospect teammate, look silly. Unlike Mayo who just goes out there and tries to hit every pitch 450 feet, Beavers clearly has a plan. His last AB that won the game for O's is a great example. Even after the count went to 0-2, you didn't see any panic from him. He clearly had a plan which was he was only gonna hunt for a fastball. He's patient every AB and has a short/compact swing, the exact opposite of Mayo.
Classic
Please save PAUL SKEENES career Pittsburgh
Send Cruz down. He’s taking up a spot for no reason. Let a promising rookie have a shot.
Why did they take out Skenes? only threw 64 pitches
Another QS for Skenes and another pain night 😭⚾
폭주기관차 배지환선수 콜업 축하합니다 응원합니다👍
Pulling Skenes early from the game was a tactical mistake
Bob says the park is beautiful and the food is delicious. Go Pirates 😂
In case any baseball fan is curious why Paul Skenes doesn’t have a good W/L record: 6 Pirates players have a batting average below .200. 14 Pirates players have a batting average below .245. On the ENTIRE roster the Pirates have one guy (Tommy Pham) who hits .258 & another guy (Nick Gonzalez) who hits .274.
It’s depressing.
A director who deliberately tried to lose
“Beavers fever!” Baby! Go O’s! I don’t know? I’m already starting to think ahead to next year & that maybe with one more picture and we stay healthy. We might have some good arms! 😊
The Baltimore Orioles are 68-77⚫️🟠⚪️🐦⬛
Skenes is the best pitcher, winning the Cy Young Award in his second year is amazing.
They say a two-way player will win the Cy Young Award next year, but that's 100% impossible.
Since the two-way player hasn't won a single major title as a pitcher, he's third-rate as a pitcher.
It's presumptuous to compare him to the Skeens.
The Orioles are showing why the expectations were high for this year. Wirh a healthy pitching staff they could've really made some noise. Magical month of baseball so far.
Let's go O's
Let’s go Orioles 68-77
U just got beavered
Arrrr… Scuttled once again on the rocks of the Chesapeake… The cruel fates have been against us for what seems like an eternity, me gritty, sea dog Maties… But we shall never give up, and we will take as many of the scurvy Skallywags down with us to Davey Jones locker… Man the cannonballs, Mr. Pham, and raise the Jolly Roger in honor of Mr. Skenes… Arrrr 🏴☠️
I wasn't expecting to be very interested in watching Baltimore this late in the season, but they are making baseball worth watching.
Scenes has to leave
Wao casi 400 ponches en su primeros dos años 😱
Tyler threw a gem
I don't recognize many of the Orioles.
Glad the Birds showed some perseverance
