Yasir Al-Rumayyan, governor of the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia and LIV Golf founder, has revealed that he played a round of golf with Charlie Woods.
Al-Rumayyan played golf with Tiger Woods in the Bahamas last year, as a potential merger between LIV Golf and the PGA Tour was discussed on the course. Talks have been ongoing since 2023, but new PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp admitted that he’d rather focus on his organization before exploring a deal.
In an interview with David Rubenstein, Al-Rumayyan discussed ongoing deals, his golf aspirations, and his relationship with Woods. The LIV founder revealed that he’s played with Charlie Woods, stating: “He’s okay”. It comes after Charlie’s ‘I’m broke’ claim and his true net worth becoming clear after a trust fund revelation.

Al-Rumayyan was asked about his high-profile round with Tiger Woods last year, and said: “I played almost with all the golfers, the professional golfers from both the PGA Tour, DP World Tour, and also LIV. And yes, to answer your question, I played with Tiger and his son.”
Rubenstein asked Al-Rumayyan to assess Woods’ game, and he replied: “He’s okay.” Charlie Woods is still only 16, but has enjoyed a breakthrough year as he embarks on a professional golf career.
Woods won his first American Junior Golf Association title in May, besting a 71-player field that included four top-five-ranked AJGA players. Woods was 15-under-par through three rounds and shot six-under on the final day.

Woods hit the second hole-in-one last month, during the final round of the Junior Players Championship. Woods holed off the tee of the par-three third hole at TPC Sawgrass, but his first ace came during a round with his father.
Tiger and Charlie teamed up at the PNC Championship in December last year, and the younger Woods aced the par-three fourth hole. “It was one of the highlights that we’ve ever had,” Tiger Woods said.
“We’re talking about earlier on the hole previous, he made his first eagle. And now he just made his first hole-in-one.
“It was a magical two-hole stretch. I’m just so happy for him and for the enjoyment we had as a family.”

While Charlie Woods has one of the best mentors imaginable, an 82-time winner on the PGA Tour, Tiger wants his son to be himself on the course. “I was always reminding him, ‘Just be you.’ Charlie is Charlie,” Woods said.
“Yes, he’s my son. He’s going to have my last name, and it’s going to be part of his core. But I just want him to be just himself and be his own person. That’s what we can only do.”
Tiger Woods is also nearing a return to golf, after he was seen hitting balls at The Nexus Cup on Tuesday. Woods had Achilles surgery earlier this year, which ruled him out of the Masters.
