The Boys and Girls Club had fun and learned some golf basics during a fun outing at River Birch Golf Course in Star.

50 young golfers are getting a chance to learn from a PGA Tour pro. I’m your Star Neighborhood reporter Greenley Clark with how this clinic at River Birch is opening doors for local kids both on and off the course. One by one, 50 members of the Boys and Girls Club of Ada County walk on to River Birch Golf Course, swapping classrooms for a different kind of lesson. Waiting for them a two-time PGA Tour winner Troy Merritt and the Boyisee State men’s and women’s golf teams. The free Golf with Us Clinic, a national Bank of America program, aims to make the sport more affordable and accessible. Bank of America is really excited to be here for youth on course with our friends at uh Boys and Girls Club and a first te and um bringing kids together to learn how to play golf. Kids rotated through stations to practice chipping, putting, driving, and even foot golf while learning lessons beyond the game. I don’t care if they can’t hit the ball, I can’t, or if they hit the ball better than me, that really doesn’t matter. It’s just getting the kids out, trying to instill a love for the game or at least try to find a spark. And if you can see some smiles, hear some laughter. That’s really what it’s all about. Many hope the experience will not only grow the game, but also give kids lessons they can carry through life. It’ll be mostly about character building and integrity and honesty and and the lessons that you get out of it. Not so much hitting good golf shots. I mean, we’re here to have fun. The pros hope this event could be the first step toward a lifelong passion for the next generation of Idaho golfers. I’m your star neighborhood reporter Greenley Clark for Idaho News Six.
