Keegan Bradley made a tough choice to not play in the Ryder Cup, choosing to pick six players (Collin Morikawa, Justin Thomas, Patrick Cantlay, Cam Young, Sam Burns and Ben Griffin) to round out the US Ryder Cup team. He said it broke his heart not to pick himself, but he believes in his players and his commitment to being the captain at Bethpage Black.

I grew up wanting to play RDER Cups. I grew up wanting to to be fight alongside these guys and broke my heart not to play. Really did because um you know I you work forever to to make these teams but ultimately I was chosen to do a job. I was chosen to be the captain of this team. And my ultimate goal to start this whole thing was to be the best captain that I could be. And this is how I felt like I could do this. If if if we got to this point and I felt like, you know, the team was better with me with me on it, I was going to do that. I was going to do whatever I thought was best for this team and I know 100% certain that this is the right choice. And these six guys again played so incredibly coming down the stretch here and made my decision a lot easier.

  1. Love Bradley. He oozes passion for life, his family, and the game. Still, this is going to be a rout . They need to change the rules. If its is going to be Europe vs US, make it a requirement the Euros need to be living in the country they represent. Right, I realize they almost ALL live in the US, and NONE of them live in the country they represent. That’s my point. After LIV split up the game , the US have very little chance to make a go of it .

  2. @GaryYoung,
I don’t understand your point at all. If you are born in a European country, you must represent that country by playing for Europe, and the same goes for Americans.
The fact that Rory McIlroy lives in Florida and together with the majority of the European players compete and live in the USA, does not make them American.
If you think about someone like Ernie Els who has been based in Florida and London for decades, it does not mean that he would then qualify to play for USA or England, because he’s 100% South African!
