In round one of the PGA Tour Champions Ally Challenge, last year’s champion, Stewart Cink would get off to a fast start and have the lead after day one.

It was a beautiful day here at Warick Hills Golf and Country Club in Graham Blank for round one of the Ally Challenge where many golfers got off to a hot start. We’ll start off on hole two where Ken Duke is on the fairway looking to chip the ball near the hole. He gets a great roll and it stops right next to it and he would tap it in for a birdie. In that same group, Mark Hensby has a long putt for a birdie. It takes a curve and heads for the target and it would spin in. He would finish the day in fourth place at six under. It would be a strong day for Steven Elker who would be consistent all day including the final two holes where he would get a pair of pars. He would finish the day in second eight under par. But the reigning champion of this tournament, Stuart Sink, continued where he left off last year on hole 10. Sink would chip a beautiful shot just near the pin. He would putt it in for his fifth straight birdie. At the end of the day, Sink would be leading the way at 10 under and have a two-stroke lead over Elker going into round two. After the round, we talked to Sink and Elker about the course in round one. Tried to get out of the gates quickly and um and I did that, you know, I just I just drove in the fairway and and hit some really good iron shots. My iron shots, I tidied that up and then made some putts obviously. I kept my ball in play. Hit a lot of good iron shots. We got a great game plan, me and Chris. The one standout probably outlier was the putting was it was kind of like a almost embarrassingly good day on the greens. Um I felt really good out there, really stable. Uh the ball was just rolling nicely and a lot of them went in. It was just one of those days. Some more great golf is coming your way this weekend here at the Ally Challenge with play continuing on Saturday and wrapping up with the final round on Sunday.
