The Ikoyi Club 1938 Ladies’ Golf Section will celebrate a landmark milestone when it hosts its 50th Anniversary Ladies Open Golf Tournament from November 11 to 15, 2025, in Lagos.

In a statement, the Ladies’ Captain, Peggy Onwu, described the forthcoming championship as “a unique celebration of 50 years of commitment, skills development, and building connections with ladies across Africa and beyond.”

This year’s edition, tagged “The 50th”, is more than just a tournament — it represents five decades of legacy in Nigerian and African golf. With its international flair and growing prestige, the Ikoyi Ladies Open is expected to attract significant attention from across the continent and beyond.

The 2025 theme, “Go Beyond Golf and Golfing”, aligns with the Section’s vision to showcase not only the prowess and resilience of women golfers but also the broader values of leadership, friendship, and togetherness that the sport embodies.

The anniversary tournament is expected to welcome about 200 golfers from across Africa, with confirmed participants already registered from Kenya, Uganda, Ghana, and Zambia, in addition to entries from across Nigeria’s leading golf clubs.

Festivities will kick off with the unveiling of the historic 50th anniversary logo, adding glamour to what promises to be a memorable celebration.

Mrs. Onwu noted that the highly competitive field makes predicting a winner difficult.

“It has been a full calendar year for ladies across the continent, with several open tournaments held. This 50th edition will be no different, as it will showcase the essence of golf, building friendships, humanity, skills, leadership qualities, and togetherness, while strengthening connections across Africa and beyond.”
