U.S. Open winner who’s banked almost $30M eyes up career away from golf in shock admittance
Fitzpatrick reveals football dreams despite golfing success. Matt Fitzpatrick, the 2022 US Open champion, has revealed he’d rather work in football than golf despite earning over $30 million on the course. The 29-year-old Englishman, currently eyeing a Ryder Cup spot for 2025, confessed in a BBC interview, “I love football way more than golf. I’m obsessed.” A lifelong Sheffield United fan, Fitzpatrick said he’s fascinated by the sports data and culture and hopes to one day work within football, though he admits it’s wishful thinking. While focused on qualifying for Luke Donald’s European Rder Cup team, Fitzpatrick acknowledged recent struggles in form, but believes he’s found a better mental approach to avoid past slumps. The golfer has competed in three RDER Cups and is aiming for a fourth appearance next year at Beth Paige Black. Friends, what is your opinion about this? Share in the comments.
