Over 1.6 million scores were submitted for handicapping purposes in August 2025 – the highest ever for one month, according to England Golf.

The figure surpasses the second highest number ever – which was also this year, in May, when 1.597 million scores were submitted.

August 2024 is the third highest month since the World Handicapping System (WHS) was introduced in 2020, with 1.569 million submissions.

While 2025 has seen a particularly dry, sunny summer, it has seen record numbers on the course, with 53 percent of scores submitted through competitions, and the remaining 47 percent through general play scores. Just under nine million scores were submitted in the first eight months of 2025, with last year’s 10.214 million looking set to be surpassed by the end of the year.
