Rumble at The Eagles Ranking Series is the first of a series of challenge supermatches to determine the armwrestling rankings in Utah of active armwrestlers. The Utah Rankings committee members are Meagan Blake, Angela Miller, Cody Hunick, David Wilson, Jeff Kirby, Kody Merritt, and Troy Tueller.

Ready to go. [Music] Oh, you turn your hat back. Thank you, sir. All right, guys. I thought I was Whoever wins this match, I believe Chance Holiday. [Music] So, it’ll be a tough tough day for eliminating. Both these guys loading a lot of back pressure in that setup. Just a little bit there. Justin trying to get it straight. Don’t move. Go to go. That’s a slip. Cody had control. was able to wear. My job is to wear you at this sounds like a John Brazine. It’s like it’s like they’re come they’re teaming up on me. It’s not very fair. You’ve asked for it. Dude, where’s your hat? Like make you look good and you need all the help you can get. I need some I need some some looks. that kind of good stuff trash about my hat. Let’s go. Straight to the bag. Cody Miller. One zero. Dang, Cody had complete control. So much for that. That was just a warm up, right? That ad living. Okay, so Cody Merritt, today it’s a ranking super match series and you have two super matches to do today hopefully. So, and actually it’s father and son coming from southern Utah. Yes. To challenge you. Well, actually, or you’re challenging them. I’m challenging them. So, what position are you in now? Third. I want No, I’m like fifth. Okay. Left hand. Left hand. Okay. Uh, so Eric Holiday is the father and he’s number four. So, the rules state that I need to go to them, the person above you. If you want to challenge somebody, you need to go to them to complete that challenge. Well, I contacted them and asked if they’d be interested coming to this event, which made it a lot easier. And then, so Eric’s the father and he’s the one that’s above me at number four, and I wanted to compete for that position. Well, I spoke to Chance, who’s number three, and that’s Eric’s son. And Chan says, “Well, what if we do a backto-back?” And I thought, “Okay, then I wouldn’t have to drive up there twice if I won the first match.” So, um, what happened is the winner of Eric and I have agreed to pull Chance immediately after. So, hopefully I get to do the two matches. So, that’s what’s amazing is that you’re doing them back to back. You’re not getting a rest between them. Yeah, it’s it’s what I I agreed to and signed up for. So, it’s kind of what I got to do. Unless Eric wins the match with you, then he has to go against his son. Pull back to back. So, yeah. But we’re assuming it’s going to be you. I’m hoping it’s going to be um and knowing this father and son, I’m kind of thinking you probably would have preferred it the opposite way. I Well, you know, I thought both they’re both very, very good. Uh Eric is just crazy strong. Like just stupid strong. Um, uh, and Chance is like a pretty good technician. He knows how to arm wrestle and he’s strong, but he’s not as strong as his dad, but he’s probably a better arm wrestler. Um, and he’s fast. He’s fast. So, I was thinking, which would I like better? And I think I I think I would prefer having Eric first because he is the stronger person. meaning if I do get a little fatigued, I won’t a chance is not as as strong in my that’s my thought process. Okay. But he’s also fast and he’s also a technician. He could exploit weaknesses if I if I get in a position where it won’t be good for me. So, you’re going to have to stay out of long battles with Eric. I’m I’m hoping to finish them all rather quickly. Yes. Okay. And I’m sure he’s hoping the same thing because he’s got to do the exact same thing. If he wins, he’s got to pull right afterwards. So either way, I’m hoping they’re quick matches. Wow. So it’s amazing that this ranking series in Utah is all the way from north all the way to south. Can’t get more extreme than you guys. Yeah. Yeah. Cuz I’m I’m on the northern border, they’re on the southern border. And it’s here we are in the middle. Here we are in the middle trying to trying to figure this out. And I really like the idea of this rankings thing. I think it’s a good opportunity for Utah arm wrestling to one come together be more of a competition creates like it creates rivalries but it also creates relationships and when you compete with one another you become more I guess closer is a good way to say it and I think that this whole process is going to make Utah arm wrestling as a better and stronger. And it’s also going to give us more recognition. These videos that you’re doing, the stuff that Megan’s doing by putting the list together, this Megan Blake, by the way, she’s in charge of this whole thing. She’s done an amazing job. She’s worked hard. Yeah. I think it’s the all of the stuff coming together is going to is going to only strengthen and make Utah arm wrestling better. So, I’m I’m excited about it. Good. Good. And you’ve of course been a big proponent of this from the beginning. Yes, I I’ve I think it’s a great situation. We with my own little team up in Northern Utah men and we’ve done a ranking system for the last couple of years and it’s really helped our team like get better because they have something to shoot for. They have a reason to try and compete to to reach that next level. I agree. and I I’ve really enjoyed it and I think the team has enjoyed it. So, doing it on a larger scale with Utah, it’s a little bit different, but I think it I think it’s a really good idea. Yeah. Good. So, well, thanks Cody. I appreciate it. Good luck today. I’ve been told he was pretty good. I don’t know who told you that, but So, what are your expectations for today? Well, when I go up to that table, I’m going to do everything I can to win. But let’s face it, you know, he’s he’s going to I’m going to have my hands full, literally. Do you have a specific plan or you’re just praying for the best? I got one plan and I’m going to give it all three times everything I got. Okay. And um you want to share that or not? Well, as long as he’s not listening. He’s not listening and he won’t see this before the match. No, I’ve I’ve obviously arm wrestled Cody quite a few times and uh uh I’ve just got to get in my mood if I stand even the slightest chance of doing anything with him to stop the match, you know. Now, is there anything in the back of your mind where you’re thinking of helping out your son if in case Cody wins? Well, I just tried to talk him into going all five either way, so I don’t think he wants to. You want to tire him out a bit? So, if after the first two I realize that I’m I’m just going to try to wear him out as much as possible in the setup, hoping that my boy has a little shot. Okay. Yeah. Uh, anything else you’d like to add? No, Cody’s a great guy. So, you know, it’s actually an honor to do a super match with a guy of his at his level. He’s kind of the elite as far as I’m concerned. And so, yes. Uh, yeah, that’s That’s probably about all I like I say, I just I’ve just got to get the move I’m hoping for, which would I’m hoping maybe stop the match, right? And uh if I can stop the match and then cheat like crazy. Isn’t that the name of the game? That’s the name of the game. Yeah. And hopefully maybe I can pull something out of my hat. I don’t know. The only chance I have is to stay outside. He’s way too big for me to go inside. I’m hoping I can stay outside, stay out of the strap, and maybe grab a thumb and keep it. And we’ll see how it goes. Now, I do remember you arm wrestling somebody as big as Cody. In fact, bigger than Cody years ago at Fitcon, Brandon Allen, his first arm wrestling tournament, and you did beat him. I did.
