Hi everyone, it’s Matt here from AF Golf Store Cambridge and in my hand today we have Ping’s latest putter. This is the PLLD Ali Blue Onset putter. We’ve seen a trend recently of putters having zero torque, near center shaft, lie angle balance. This is Ping’s take on it and we’re going to have a look and see how it performs. [Music] So, first impression, big fan of the all black. I’ve always liked all black putters, uh, all black head, all black shaft. I just think stealth look. Also takes away a little bit of the shine for the few days of summer we do get in the UK. Putting it down behind the ball. I haven’t been a massive fan of center shafted putters. I think they sit at times a little bit awkward for me personally. Um, but looking down at that initially, I actually think this sits really quite comfortable for me and potentially could get used to that. Um, having used a heel shafted putter for much of my golf. I think that looks very unoffensive to the eye initially. So, in terms of some of the tech on the putter, we’ve got a mixture of aluminium and stainless steel. And what that’s allowed Ping to do is move mass into certain parts of the putter in terms of forgiveness and balance. Obviously, putting the shaft in the center of the head, there are potential compensations that company has to make to get the balance in the right position. [Music] In terms of the face itself, it’s Ping’s traditional deep mill on the face. So, what you’re getting is a very soft sound and feel, but what it does allow you to do is get a really good response of where you’ve hit the hit the strike. That felt very centered and you can get that sound and feel from the putter all the way through into the grip. And I quite like that Ping have gone for a smaller grip style. Um I think you get a little bit more feel and contact off the putter head. Like from that one there, I could feel that I left the face a little bit open through impact. I sometimes feel with the larger heads when they’re making them center shafted and with the bigger grips, you can just lose a little bit of that feel. That one felt a bit better. Not bad from this range. So, overall opinion for me on this putter from Ping. Uh, big fan. As I said, like the look, like the feel. Um, and it’s already appealing to some of Ping’s tour players. Cory Connors has been using a model uh very similar, if not exactly the same on tour now for a little bit of time. These are a limited edition run, so once they are gone, they are gone. So, if you’re interested in trying the Ping Ali Blue PL, come down and visit us today. [Music]
