NEW YORK — The Columbia men’s golf team opened up its 2025-26 season on Monday, hosting the first two rounds of The Metropolis Intercollegiate. The Lions are in contention, currently in fifth place at 22 over par, just nine shots back of 36-hole leader Siena College.
Individually, first year Alejandro Formosa carded rounds of 3-over-par 73 and 2-under 68 in his collegiate debut. The rookie from San Mateo, California, had three birdies in his opening round and followed with four more in Round 2. Formosa (+1) is in solo fourth on the 84-player individual leaderboard, just two shots back of the lead.
Senior George Rubelsky bounced back from a 6-over opening round to shoot a 1-under 69 in Round 2. He currently sits tied for 14th. First year Neil Kulkarni, also making his collegiate debut, carded rounds of 74 and 72 and is tied for 21st at 6 over.
