Tom Brady had high praise for Jayden Daniels last season, with the former seeing the game in a different light now that he is a commentator for FOX Sports, after the NFL performed a controversial U-turn on his role in the offseason.
And he will instantly have chance to see him up close again with Brady’s season in the booth starting in Washington as the Commanders take on NFC East rivals the New York Giants. Brady has long been known as the greatest quarterback of all time due to his longevity and success. As such, the NFL legend is uniquely qualified to speak on matters regarding the game, especially as it pertains to quarterbacks, with the 48-year-old using his insight to see aspects of players that others might not see.
The seven-time Super Bowl champion’s insight was on full display during an appearance on the ‘Let’s Go! with Matthew Stafford, Maxx Crosby, Peter Kings & Jim Gray’ show last year when discussing what separates Daniels. Meanwhile, Brady also set the record straight on his relationship with Greg Olsen after taking his FOX job.

On the episode, Brady lauded Daniels’ mental fortitude and at one point, even compared him to golf legend Tiger Woods. “How do we really evaluate confidence? How do we evaluate poise?”
“Some people have it, the moment isn’t too big for them. They look at the challenge and they think, ‘Man, this is going to be amazing when we beat these guys.’ And other guys look at the challenge and go, ‘Oh man, I really don’t want to mess up.’
“I think that fear of failure instilled in a lot of people in early points in their life keeps them from the ultimate confidence in themselves that allows them to go to their maximum potential. Even though Jayden Daniels is just a rookie, he has that poise and confidence.”

Brady added: “Look at a young Tiger Woods. He had never proven on the big stage that he was ready for the big moments at the Masters in 1997. But he proved that to himself in all those junior amateurs that he won. “He didn’t care who he was playing. It was him vs him. And when you’re a great competitor, you don’t care your age, you don’t care where you’re going.
“You just care about your inner belief in yourself. [Daniels] has that. That’s something that is very difficult to teach. I see it in coaches, I see it in players, I see it in other great sports figures. You believe you’re the magic and that’s where the magic comes from.”
In 1997, the then-21-year-old Woods won The Masters by 12 strokes, just eight months after turning pro. Woods’ 12-stroke win is the largest margin of victory at The Masters, surpassing Jack Nicklaus’ mark of nine in 1965.

Along with Brady, Joe Theismann also applauded the Commanders for going all-in on Daniels and appreciated the work ethic the young star showed in his rookie season.
“It’s really exciting what this football team is going to be able to do… Jayden is making a world of difference. He doesn’t want to be good — he wants to be great,” he said to Pro Football Network.
“But it’s not that ‘all-about-me’ kind of syndrome. He’s all about the football team. He’s all about him getting better as well as the team getting better, and I think he’s extremely well respected by his teammates.”
Daniels and the Commanders will start the 2025 NFL season against the New York Giants on Sept. 7.
