SNY NFL Insider Connor Hughes agrees that there are no moral victories in sports but the play of Jets quarterback Justin Fields in the season opener despite the 34-32 loss to the Steelers, does provide hope for the 2025 season.

Aaron Glenn said after the Jets
3432 lost to the Steelers that he does not believe in moral
victories and that’s the right mindset to have as a coach. But
if you’re looking for Silver, Linings there is no greater one
from this game than the play of Justin Fields.
He struggled so mightily throughout OTAs, minicamp
training camp in the preseason that you worried heading into
the regular season, how he would look. If the Jets needed
to put the game on his shoulders and asked him to play
quarterback. Well, if this game was any indication
he’s gonna do just fine completed over 72 percent of his
passes through. R 208 yards and that gorgeous 33-yard
touchdown to Garrett Wilson also ran for 48 yards and two
more scores on the ground. He looked fully
in command of this new offense. Another new offense that he’s
learning was calm and decisive with the ball. Avoided
turnovers, avoided sacks against a pretty good Steelers
defense, featuring Jalen Ramsey. And TJ W, the Jets have pieces
on this team defense. Like Quinn and Williams are Quincy.
Williams sauce Gardner Jermaine Johnson Will McDonald, who had a
pair of sacks on offense. They have Garrett
Wilson, Bruce Hall, even their tight ends came to play in
Jeremy record. Mason Taylor, the offensive
line. Missing a V2 is still stroke. Still showed strength
opening up holes on the ground. With the Jets ran for 180 yards
and keeping the Defenders off of fields is back for the most
part, but if Fields can play quarterback, like he did on
Sunday, the Jets aren’t going to be thinking competition.
They’re not going to be thinking competitive.
They’re not going to be thinking seven, eight wins. This
is a team that could make a legitimate playoff. Push of
this Fields, is the fields. That’s here to stay.

  1. THANK YOU for saying it. The fields who went 4-2 with the Steelers last year is real. He’s a STUD. And he’s the Jets QB now baby.
