absolute scenes in Ireland yesterday. Um, just what will that win mean to Mroy? Yeah, it means the absolute world to him, Joe. I’ve already had a chat with Rory on the range here at Wentworth this morning and he’s still buzzing from it. He’s smiling from ear to ear. He says that in a 17-year professional career, 45 worldwide wins, he has never heard a roar as loud as that roar, which agreed to that eagle putt to get him into that playoff against Yokam Laragrin yesterday. and he says he spent time sort of flicking through Instagram seeing the putt from various different angles and and seeing the crowd just erupt in the background and sons hugging dads and everything and just how much it meant to all the Irish fans who were there at the K club yesterday that is the reason he was saying that you know he loves coming back home and playing in front of a home crowd and it’ll be similar this week at Wentworth the the crowds here at Wentworth will cheer him on as well no doubt and it has been an incredible year for Rory Mroy began by winning at Pebble Beach won the players championship obviously then completed the career Grand slam at Augusta. That was incredibly emotional, emotionally draining for everybody who was there watching it as well and for Rory himself. And then to win the his second Irish Open in front of that incredible crowd at the K Club yesterday um was just remarkable. And there is one final ingredient which would make it the most special year he says of his career and that would be winning an away rider cup in just a couple of weeks time. And I think the important thing for Rory is trying to conserve his energy levels because playing 75 holes over the last few days at the Klay Club. The emotional emotionally draining is to win in front of a home crowd. This will be a big week as well. He’s won this tournament in the past before back in 2014 and has knocked in the door plenty of times as well, losing the playoff to Billy Horchel last year. So I fully expect he’ll be contending up near the business end this week as well. He does have the advantage that he gets to sleep in his own bed this week, which players love. His European base is an enormous pad on the Wentworth Estate. So, he got here late last night. He’s got a full night’s sleep and was on the range, as I said, just sharpening up this morning. So, he’s loving every second of it at the moment, Rory. The team um and it’s just a really case now of making sure there’s any energy levels are at their most optimum when he gets out to Beth Page, but I’m sure they will be. Yeah. So, everyone gearing up for the RDER Cup, 11 of the 12 Europeans playing at Wentworth this week. Who else is likely to be challenging? Yeah, that’s right. 11 of the of the 12 of that team, Sept Straa, the only one who isn’t in the field this week. Joe and also Captain Luke Donald and two of his vice captains, Franchesco Molinari, Alex Norin, all in the field uh this week as well. And they all actually head straight out to Beth Page on a flight together on Sunday night as soon as the final rounds concluded here at Wentworth to have that little two-day team trip to Beth Page, which they did before the last Ryder Cup of Rome as well. And you’ve heard so many of the successful victorious team from that side in Rome saying how important that team trip was. Not just to to get to know the golf course, but to get to know each other as well and sort of build some bond. So they’re doing exactly the same thing this time. They’ll head out there on Sunday night, have a couple of days at Beth Page, and then a few days to sort of rest and recover before what will obviously be an incredibly draining week. The other contenders to look out for this week, well, I would say most of that team because they’ll all be just trying to sort of sharpen up their game. the likes of Tommy Fleetwood successful just a couple of weeks ago on the PJ tour. Bob McIntyre, Shane Li, who has had success here in the past back in 2022, the champion here. So, they’ll all be names I would imagine that would be up near the top of that leaderboard uh this week. And Billy Horchel also worth mentioning Billy because he’s been out for a few months with an injuries on the range just over my shoulder here behind me. Great to see Billy back again. and he’s won twice around here and is just chomping at the bit I think to get some uh professional golf under his belt again after what’s been an incredibly frustrating few months out with injury. But it is a great week and look there’ll be lots of RDER Cup chat given that it’s just a couple of weeks away but this is a huge tournament in its own right and the sun is shining. The crowds will be fantastic all week. They always are here at Wentworth and we’re gearing up for what should be a fantastic few days. Lovely stuff Jamie. Okay.
