[Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Applause] [Music] What’s up everyone? It’s Ruben from the Golf Collective and tonight we are going to unbox this brand new set of custommade Wilson golf clubs. These golf clubs have been custom made and custom fitted to me and my swing. Uh I went through the whole Wilson AI fitting process a couple of weeks ago with Mark from Wilson Australia. It was an awesome uh awesome process. Um awesome experience too. If you’ve never been fitted for clubs, highly recommend go and get fitted. If you’re in the market for new clubs, go and get fitted. Fitting is for anyone. It’s not just for the elite player. It’s not just for, you know, tall people who need a specific set of clubs. It doesn’t matter. Tall or short, whatever you are, you can get fitted to a set of clubs that actually will suit your swing and suit your game. Now, the AI fitting process is actually pretty unique. It’s got this little sensor that sits on top of the grip. You wouldn’t even know that it’s there. You don’t even feel it when you’re swinging. And uh they’ve got what’s called an AI club. Now, this club will use artificial intelligence to give all of your swing characteristics and data. I mean, I’m talking everything from force at impact, uh wrist movement, uh wrist acceleration, like everything. All the data that an overthinker like me would just love to have. So, uh, you have about five swings and the little sensor will send back a whole bunch of information back to the iPad or the iPhone that the fitter is using and then from there it will actually give the fitter suggestions on what to fit us into or what to try out during the fitting. So, you know, there’s there’s everyone’s different, everyone’s swing’s different. Um, like my bag, my personal bag at the moment, if any of you looked in it, you would be so shocked. You would think, what the hell? Like why do you have stiff wedges and then regular shaft irons and then you’ve got a stiff uh stiff 3-wood and then you’ve got an autoflex driver shaft that who knows what flex that is. I’ve always been a player that’s just gone off feel. I don’t go off what the label says. I don’t go off what you know if if I’m swinging 105 I should be swinging stiff. Like if I’m swinging 105 I don’t care. I’m I know what my swing’s doing. I just want to swing something that feels comfortable and feels good. So it was actually really interesting when I was in the fitting. I guess what we were trying to get to was trying to mimic the same feel that I currently have with my current irons. And my current irons are quite light. Like I’ve always been big on trying to find the the lightest possible shaft with the stiffest flex cuz I for whatever reason that’s just what feels comfortable to me when I swing. I’ve swung 130 g extra stiff irons before and I tell you what, I think it was like by 13th or 14th hole I was tired. Like those things are heavy to swing. So, you really have to be like really strong, really powerful to be swinging those things. So, I know there’s some people out there that are probably sitting there going, “Oh, but I’ve got like a really fast swing speed, so I should be using extra stiff or too stiff.” Look, I’ve got to be honest, from my perspective and from from from all the experience that I’ve had, some of it’s just your ego talking. Let the ego go. Go and get fitted. And whatever the AI system tells you that you should be playing, you really should listen. All right. As you can see, we had a whole lot of fun at the fitting. Uh fittings are fun. They’re not meant to be scary. And look, don’t be afraid if you hit a couple of bad shots. Um, that’s not my first fitting that I’ve ever been to. I remember I’ve had fittings in the past, and I’ve had fittings where I could barely make contact with the ball. It was a long time ago, but hey, it still happened. And you just wear it. And you know what? They’re not looking for what’s going on as far as shot shape and all the rest of it goes. What they’re looking for is just swing characteristics. And they’re looking at the way you deliver the club, what your tendencies are, and then they will fit you to something that will be suitable in the range that they have. Let’s get into this box. Let’s see what clubs that I got fit into. You have to excuse my my sniffling. Actually, you’re going to have to excuse me allgether for a second cuz I got to go blow my nose. One sec. I’ll be back. Oh goodness. All right. What a time to be sick. I mean, come on. All righty. Let’s get these out. Admittedly, the two of the wedges that are in this set, they are the wedges that I will be gaming, but they aren’t the wedges that I will be keeping. So, this particular this particular two wedges that are in here, they’ll actually be a giveaway uh in the coming months. So, stay tuned for that, but I will show you them. Um, very unique. So, we went through and uh we got fitted or I got fitted to the 50° 8° bounce. This is a really really nice looking wedge. Um, they do a great job. They just they’re very clean looking. Very very nice. I love it. Fresh new grooves. Haven’t had those for a while. So, that’s the 50°. Uh, what else have we got here? All right, so these are the two that we will be giving away in an upcoming giveaway. Um, so we’ve got a 60° 60° bounce and a 56° in um 10°ree bounce. So, these have been customized. I can’t show you these uh for too long, but you will see these in a giveaway. I’ll tell you more about those in uh in coming weeks, coming months. So, we’ll pop those straight in the bag. But yeah, three wedges, a 50°, 56, and a 60. Um, I can’t remember which one exactly, but I will find out and I will put a little uh thing down the bottom here to let you know which ones of these can’t be customized in bounce. I think it was the 60. I can’t remember. I think you can customize the the bounce of the 56. Um, either way, uh, one of them can’t be customized, but you probably don’t need to anyway. Uh, but yeah, these are great wedges. Man, that’s a nice looking bag. Okay. I don’t know about the red though because it’s Spartans color and I’m not for sale Jimmy. Not yet. Liam’s probably sh sitting there himself. Well, he shouldn’t be himself because I’m not really playing that well, but that’s fine. Actually, speaking of not playing well, um that’s something that I’m going to be committing to over the next 6 months. I want to get my handicap back down to the respectable level where I believe it should be. I have not practiced uh nowhere near as much as what I used to and it’s starting to show. My game is extremely rusty and you guys will be seeing on the videos that’ll be coming up on YouTube what my game’s actually like. I can either be really really good or really really crapola. Um there’s no real in between at the moment. Played the springs on the weekend and I eagled the first and I think I had three doubles in the round as well. So that’s my golf in a nutshell. Um I’ll just put those over there. Wow, these things look nice. All right, I should probably turn these around so you guys can actually see them in the uh overhead view, but these are some great looking clubs. Right, so what uh what we went with with these um we went a split combo set. So for those of you who don’t know what a split combo set is, uh split combo set is pretty much just going like so so there’s about four different ranges of clubs you can get um in the Wilson range. Um there’s obviously the Dino power um range then that goes to the staff metal the staff model range and then obviously your blades as well. So typically um what uh probably the better players would do is uh get a combo set a split set and the reason they do that is because they want the forgiveness in their longer irons. So in your irons of like four, five, and six, you’ll go like normally a cavity back and that would just give you a little bit more forgiveness on those long shots because to be honest, especially a player like me, I’m not pining with these clubs. What I am seeking is the green or just anything near the green. So, I just want that little bit of extra forgiveness from those clubs so that when I’m faced with that 177 m shot or anything above that really, um I’ve got some some extra comfort knowing that I’ve got some forgiveness in my clubs cuz irons can look scary. Um sorry, irons blades can look scary. I’ve played blades for a long time. Um look, and it’s not an ego thing. I know some of you probably sitting out there going, it’s just ego, but that’s not an ego thing. I just like the profile of of the way that blades look. Um, I don’t for whatever reason, I just can’t seem to play game improvement odds too well. Uh, I know I’m blaming the tools, but I just can’t. Something about them, I just can’t. Something about them when I when I when I’m looking at them, when I’m standing over them, they just they don’t sit well with me. So, me being the overthinker that I am, I’m sitting there more worried about how the club looks versus what I actually have to do with the club. So yeah, not a good thing. So yeah, look, part of the fitting process is you’ve got to be comfortable and happy with what you’re looking at, too. And that’s one of the things that Mark had pointed out to me as well. Like, you know, I I think I was actually hitting some of the Dino Power um some of the Dino Power irons better. I was actually hitting the AI fitting tool, the fitting club really well. Uh and I asked him if I could have a set of those, but unfortunately they don’t they don’t make and sell those for for consumers. Um, but yeah, you’ve got to you’ve got to be comfortable uh at what you’re looking at at a dress. You’ve got to have it’s got to be confidence inspiring so that you’re not scared about pulling off the shot. You’re not sitting there thinking about your club when you should when you should be thinking about hitting the green. So, anyways, enough uh enough blabber. That’s what I’m renowned for. So, um we’ve got pitching wedge 987 in the blades. Now, these blades look amazing. Um, and then we’ve got a 6, five, and four in the staff model, um, CB. So, check that out. The staff model CB. We should probably peel those off and I’ll show them to the camera. It’s like peeling the uh the cover off your first phone screen. Are you going to zoom on me? Yeah. Check that out. They are nice looking clubs. Um, the shafts I went for I got fitted to as well were the KBS Tour Light Stiff. So, the ones that are in my current irons at the moment, um, what are they? They’re regular. They’re regular flex KBS Tour. Um, I don’t think they’re the lights, but anyways, they’re regular. So, they feel super light to me and super easy to swing. Um, because I uh I had a wrist injury um 3 years ago now, pretty significant one, and my swing’s just never really been the same since then. So, I’ll be probably swinging senior flex soon. But um yeah, I wanted the feel to mimic the current irons that I had and these shafts did that for me. So part of the Wilson fitting process again is just finding that fitting and finding that shaft that suits you and your swing. The beauty, one of the things I really love was when Mark was fitting me, he wasn’t telling me what he was putting in and he wasn’t even telling me what what irons or what heads were on the end. Like he was literally looking at a dress. Uh are you happy with it? Are you comfortable with it? Swing it. What do you feel? And it was funny because as soon as he put this shaft in my hands, like it just it felt uh familiar and it felt like my old clubs, which would just make the transition really easy. Like I’m still going to have to spend time with these and and get the feel right. But um regardless, it will make the transition super easy. So um I’ll go ahead and just um unpeel these. But um as far as fitting goes, if you’re interested in getting a fitting, um you can get in contact with me. I will give you the the names of the fitting places that you can go to and uh and then from there uh we can have a conversation about um the set that you if if you want to purchase a set um we can have a conversation about that. So with custommade sets uh TGC members will get an extra little present on the side. So um I will confirm what those are uh to the members in the members area. Pretty significant. You’ll get some cool stuff. Oh, I think my cat’s going to come and try and What are you doing, cat? She wants to be in the video. There’s no space for you, mate. All right, come on. But yeah. Okay, that’s all the cavity backs anyways. They’re all They’re all in there. They look super good. They look so nice in the bag. Very nice. Right, the blades. These things are gorgeous. I think the cat’s actually going to attack the camera. Don’t. Camera’s a friend. Leave it alone. Thanks. That is a stunning looking iron. That is absolutely gorgeous. Check that out. Nicer. Oh, I hope I can teach these clubs some good habits. What are we talking about? Of course I will. I just have to win the cup race again. Um, so that was the eight iron. Oh, man. Is it bad that I feel like Oh, there’s my cat. What are you doing, Missy? trying to get in on the action. Oh, that’s your spot. All that hard work getting this set set up and then she decides to be a part of it. You going to sit there? Yeah. I will be talking about the Wilson balls as well. Uh I’ve been trying at the lately I’ve been trying both of the staff model balls. So, it’s they’re pretty much comparable to like two of the top brands. Um, like the Prov1’s and the TB5s, uh, both of the X versions of those, these are very comparable to those. Um, so if you normally play the TP5 or you play the Prov1, the the Wilson staff model, uh, the standard staff model ball is pretty much a very similar feel to that. Uh, personally, I do find them to be, uh, more softer. Um, but that’s not such a bad thing. Um, I’ve never really played a soft ball. Uh but recently I’ve been sort of leaning towards that one more so um than the X, but um they also do the X version. So the X version uh it’s just like the Prov1X and it’s just like the TP5X. Uh very very similar characteristics, similar feel. They’re a really reliable ball and um I know I said it in a podcast recently like my short game’s mud. Like I’m I don’t have a great short game, but um I can actually feel the difference with these balls when I play with them. So I can actually they feel nippy. They feel like they’re very responsive around the greens. And look, I don’t know if it’s just because I was sort of more trying to to to focus on that to see if I could notice a difference. Maybe that’s why I I I noticed that there was a difference, but I don’t know. I know I’ve been gaming them. I know that other players in TGC have recently moved to them and um I’ve heard nothing but good things. So, give them a go. If you see me at an event, hit me up. I’ll give you a sleeve and you can have a little test out yourself and see if you like it. All right. So, going into the woods. Ended up getting the Ventus Blue Shafts. I’ve never played Ventus shafts, so this will be a first for me. Uh, I normally have a tour AD in my 3-wood. Um, and then I have a Autoflex in my driver shaft. Now, I’m going to be playing some rounds with the Ventus. I really want to give the Ventus a go, but I think it’s it’s going to have a tough task. It’s going to have a tough time trying to keep up with the auto flex. So, it’ be interesting to see how we go with that. But, yeah. So, what we went with here, uh, after a couple of hits, we ended up going with a forward. Uh, I normally have a 3-wood in my bag and then next to that I’ll have a three iron. So, the funny thing is with my three iron and my um my 3-wood, they go almost the same distance. Like my three iron will carry like 205, roll out to like 214 and then my 3-wood normally will like carry 215 and then roll out to about 225 or probably actually probably carry more like 210. But they’re always in roughly in the same vicinity. So Mark suggested going to Forwood and I was just thinking like all the courses that I actually do play more often. Um this club was more suitable, the distance, the loft, everything. Great looking clubs that address as well. Um you can have a look at that. That is very nice looking club. Fourwood uh what is it? 16.5° in loft. Ventus uh stiff shaft. So yeah, be nice to get this out on the course and and give it a give it a go. But if you see me out in the course and you want to you want to have a hit, as long as you don’t sky it, I uh I’ll let you come out and give it a go. But in saying that, we’ll be organizing some some fitting days and we’ll have some demo sets around that you guys can can get stuck into and have a go with. Uh we’re going to be doing some some of our own private fitting nights as well, where probably not more so a fitting night, but more so like a demo night where we’ll have a demo set there, a left-handed or a right-handed, and you can give them a hit, give them a go, see if you like them. It’s a great looking great looking product. Um, even the the head covers look great. Really nice. All right. So, for those of you who don’t know, you normally have these little tabs on the head covers. So, what you do is you switch these over to the one that it’s associated with. It’s just one of those small things. But, yeah, forward in the bag. Okay. All right. Now, the big dog. So, what we went with here was the Wilson Dino Power Carbon 10 1/2° loft. Um, you can check that out. really nice looking club. Yeah, great looking. Uh so 10 and a half degrees of loft. Again, went with a stiff shaft. Um 50 g. Uh 60 g is in the forward. But yeah, I was hitting this one pretty well and the spin numbers were good. Uh swing speed was good. Carry was almost very it was pretty much the same as the autoflex to be honest, which was interesting. Um, most of the testing that I did with the auto flex, I think it’s probably more delivery than anything else. But the autoflex, whilst it was faster with club head speed, I still was only getting this like the same amount of carry out of both. But I wasn’t testing it against this. So, there’ll be some tests coming up with that. And I’ll also do an Autoflex versus Ventus test. So, be interesting to see. The Autoflex shafts are bloody expensive. So, I’m really hoping that I can um get along with this Ventus. I’m sure that I will uh cuz that will stay in the bag. But, yeah, there you have it. That’s my That’s my bag. So, uh, Lab putter will be going in there for now. Um, I’m still not sold in it. I’m still not sure what I’m doing with my putter. Um, I don’t know if any of you saw, but recently my golf spy, uh, put up a post. Uh, they did a putter test and, uh, the Wilson putter won the best mallet. So, that’s worth checking out if you haven’t already. So, yeah, if you see me out on the course, guys, come come have a chat, come have a look, check out the gear, check out the bag. Look, I’m more than happy to to run through, you know, all the stuff that’s there. If you want to have a hit, just let me know. But yeah, again, if you’re interested in the fitting, uh, get in touch with me and I will point you in the right direction. 1. "not just for the elite players, not just for you know, tall players who needs a specific set of clubs" why do I feel targeted in that statement??? 🤣
