Hamilton, N.Y. – Senior Anthony Maglisco (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) tied for 16th place to lead the Le Moyne College men’s golf team to a 13th-place finish at Colgate University’s Alex Lagowitz Memorial on Saturday and Sunday at the par-72, 7125-yard Seven Oaks Golf Course.
Lehigh University claimed the team title with an eight-under score of 856 after rounds of three-under 285, even par 288 and five-under 283. Seton Hall University was second at one-under 863 following scores of 292, seven-under 281 and 290. Villanova University finished third at 872 after rounds of 295, 288 and 289. The Dolphins finished at 896 following a pair of 303s around a 290. Lehigh’s Noah Zyung earned medalist honors with a nine-under par 207 after carding rounds of four-under 68, 73 and six-under 66.
Maglisco, who tied for the best mark on the par-3s at one-under, finished in a five-way tie for 16th with a 219, which featured eight birdies and 35 pars. He opened with a 75, including three birdies and nine pars, to land in an eight-way tie for 41st place. He jumped into an 11-way tie for 27th place with a 73 in the second round, which featured two birdies and 13 pars. He took another two shots off his score in the final round to finish with a one-under par 71, which included three birdies and 13 pars, to jump another 11 places.
Junior Owen Corby (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland) landed in a four-way tie for 38th in his first event of the year with a 224, which included eight birdies and 32 pars. He tallied a 77 in the first round, which featured two birdies and 10 pars, to land in a 10-way tie for 58th place. He skyrocketed 40 places up the standings and into a five-way tie for 18th with a three-under par 69 in the second round, which included four birdies and 13 pars. He dropped back in the standings with a 78 in the last round, which featured two birdies and nine pars.
Sophomore George Green (Hilton, N.Y./Hilton) tied for 57th with a 227, which featured seven birdies and 31 pars. He was in a nine-way tie for 49th place following a 76 in the opening round, which included one birdie and 12 pars. He carded a 74 in the second round, which featured three birdies and 11 pars, to move up seven spots into an 11-way tie for 42nd place. He recorded a 77, including three birdies and eight pars, on Sunday to slip in the standings.
Freshman Jacob Olearczyk (Barneveld, N.Y./Holland Patent) recorded a 229, which included four birdies and 33 pars, to finish in a three-way tie for 61st place. He had 13 pars en route to a 77 in the first round to join Corby in the tie for 58th. He moved into a six-way tie for 53rd with a second-round 74, which featured three birdies and 10 pars. He slipped to the tie for 61st with a 78 in the last round, which included one birdie and 10 pars.
Sophomore Mike Maslanka (Taylor, Pa./Riverside) landed in an eight-way tie for 71st place with a 232, which featured three birdies and 32 pars. He was in a three-way tie for 75th place after the first round at 79, which included one birdie and nine pars. He climbed two spots in the second round with a 76, which featured one birdie and 12 pars. He moved up another two spots on Sunday with a 77, including one birdie and 11 pars.
Junior Carter Mizro (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) finished in a four-way tie for 80th at 234, which included four birdies and 33 pars. He joined Maglisco in the tie for 41st with a first-round 75, which featured two birdies and 12 pars. He dipped into the tie for 53rd with a 76, which included two birdies and 11 pars. He posted an 83 in the final round, including 10 pars, to slide into the tie for 80th.
