CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — UNI women’s golf team is set to compete in its second tournament of the season at the Redbird Invitational in Normal, Illinois, continuing a promising start after teeing off its fall schedule in August for the first time since 2018. The Panther men’s team is preparing to make its season debut at the Wildcat Invitational in Manhattan, Kansas, and is looking to have a strong season as it begins fall competition.
Scheduled for Sept. 7-8 at Weibring Golf Club, the course for the women’s Redbird Invitational sits at 6,093 yards and a par-72. The men’s team will compete on Sept. 8-9 at Colbert Hills Golf Club, which plays at 7,525 with a par of 72.
While Tee Times haven’t been announced for either tournament yet, the first two rounds of the women’s Redbird Invitational will start Sunday at 8:30 a.m. CT and Monday at 8:30 a.m. CT with a shotgun start for both days. On the men’s side the Wildcat Invitational will start on Monday at 8:30 a.m. CT and Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. CT.
The UNI ladies return to action after finishing in eighth place at the Jayhawk Invitational. Freshman Jane Petersen led the Panthers, finishing in a three-way tie for 19th place with a score of 230 (+14). Addison Berg finished in a tie for 22nd place, shooting a score of 232 (+16). McKenna Mallow finished in 47th place, shooting 250 (+34), while Hannah Graves finished in 48th place with a score of 252 (+36).
The Panther men return seven golfers from the 2024-25 roster, including four seniors: Calen Bishop, Cooper Hanson, Brock Seiser, and Nile Petersen. Nile Petersen and Calen Bishop both notched a season-low of 69 last year, with Petersen’s coming during the second round of the WIU Invite and Bishop’s at the Tommie Invitational in round two. Petersen also posted the UNI men’s best average score of 74.80, with Bishop right behind him posting an average score of 76.48 last season.
Cooper Hanson carded a season-low 71 at the MVC Championships in round three and an average score of 77.25, appearing in 24 rounds last season. Brock Seiser shot a season low of 71 during the second round of the Zach Johnson Invitational while tallying an average score of 79.77 in nine rounds.
Junior Tanner Dinnebier looks to build off of a strong sophomore season after posting the second-best average score on the team last season with a 75.52 and shooting a season-low of 72 in the third round of the Jackrabbit Invitational. Dinnebier appeared in 27 rounds and shot in the 70’s 25 times last year.
