One of the hardest things in professional golf is following a low round with another, but that’s the challenge facing Angel Hidalgo today.
The fiery Spaniard yelled and fist-pumped his way to a brilliant nine-under 63 on Saturday, a round which included a DP World Tour record-tying 12 birdies.
Hidalgo, whose hopes of setting a new course record were dashed with a double bogey seven on the 16th, said he felt like he was playing the PlayStation at times.
Matching yesterday’s 63 will be a tall order, but Hidalgo will not be overawed by the occasion. After all, he stared down Jon Rahm in a play-off last year to win the Spanish Open title.
