The Hope College women’s golf team delivered its lowest round of the season, firing a second-round 323 at The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall on Saturday to move up one spot to a third-place finish at The University of Olivet Kyle Campbell Invitational.
Led by senior Sara Muir and junior Allyson Zuidema, the Flying Dutch ended the 36-hole, two-day event at 87-over-par (340-323).
Kalamazoo College topped the field at 62-over (329-309), 21 strokes better than runner-up Saint Mary’s (332-327). Hope finished two strokes ahead of fourth-place Calvin University (334-331).
Muir (Ada, Mich. / Grand Rapids Christian) led the Flying Dutch by tying for fourth in the 96-golfer field at 15-over with rounds of 81 on Friday and 78 on Saturday.
Zuidema (Northville, Mich. / Northville) took 10th at 18-over after a first-round 83 and a second-round 79.
Junior Rachael Jones (Grove City, Ohio / Grove City) tied for 12th at 20-over with a first-round 85 and a second-round 79.
Junior Jaiden Winters (New Carlisle, Ind. / New Carlsle) placed 14th at 21-over after a first-round 85 and a second-round 80.
Hope also received second-round scores of 86 from freshman Anelise Gatti (Brighton, Mich. / Brighton), 87 from junior Kylie Gernaat (Kalamazoo, Mich. / Kalamazoo Christian), and 88 from senior Caydee Constant (Grand Haven, Mich. / Grand Haven).
The Flying Dutch’s next event is Friday-Saturday, Sept. 12-13, at the Heidelberg University Fall Invitational at Fostoria Country Club in Fostoria, Ohio.
