🏌️‍♂️Struggling with an over-the-top swing? You’re not alone — it’s one of the most common faults I see, and it can cause all kinds of problems with your ball flight. In this video I’ll show you a simple way to fix it by focusing on the relationship between your right elbow and right hip.
The idea is to keep those two working together instead of separating at the top of the swing. Do that, and you’ll stay on plane, stop casting, and get into a much stronger impact position. It’s a straightforward drill, but it makes a big difference if you’ve been battling that dreaded over-the-top move. ⛳

Hi, I’m James from Nugget Golf and in this video I’m going to be talking about how to get rid of that over-the-top swing which causes so much havoc in your game. I know it has done with my game in the past and these are the tips that I’ll use to eliminate the over the top swing. It’s one of the most common faults that we see on the Nugget Golf platform. I have an alignment stick here just set out as a a guide of this plane of glass that you tend to see which is from if I set up the ball from the ball it goes through my shoulders and over the top is pretty much when players will break that plane of glass and will come over the top and smash into it. And what tends to happen is when they get to the back of the top swing, this is when the right elbow and the body come um come apart from each other and you get the wrist, you know, the casting motion. So the tip I use for the over the top swing is is right elbow, very simple, but right elbow and right hip and keeping those aligned as much as possible. So the reason it’s important to keep those aligned is it eliminates almost that, you know, that casting effect. And what happens is if you focus on right elbow, right hip is you turning through right elbow, right hip, if you’re left-handed, left elbow, left hip, that’s when you get the really solid um hopefully on plane swing. Uh so from this angle again, I remove this, put this down, and if I go to the top of the swing, it’s here. From here, this is where we want to get that right elbow bend, right hip aligned and set up for the best impact position because it’s all about impact. So again, top of the swing, right elbow, right right hip. Let’s go take a swing. Hopefully that helps remove your over the top swing. For more tips like this, subscribe to the channel.
