September is popularly known as the Harvest Month, and it is best manifested in the activities at Singapore Island Country Club, which is reaping the benefits from a busy programme that leads to the club’s Island Location.
Leading into the month was the club’s signature event, Around the World Golf & Gourmet Adventure 2025, which brought together members and corporate partners to celebrate international camaraderie through golf, gourmet cuisine and cultural showcases.
The unique event on Aug 30 teed off with golf and the teams had country names, with even Benin, Hawaii and Bhutan among the 36 nations.
The strongest team on paper, Team Cayman Islands, won the event, led by former professionals Lam Zhi Qun and Lam Chih Bing. They also won Longest Drive prizes with their 320m and 300m efforts respectively.
Prizes were given out during a fabulous dinner which featured global delicacies created and produced by SICC’s food and beverage team.
Interactive booths also offered an immersive experience by showcasing traditional practices, culinary techniques and artisanal crafts.
The event will also be remembered for a hole-in-one feat by Kim Mi Jeong on the Forest Hole 4, the prize being a diamond brooch worth $8,000.
And the icing on the cake – which also made diners stay until the end – was a main lucky draw prize of a Dongfeng Box car which was won by Benny Tay, a director at Prudential Financial Advisory.
The theme of wonderful golf and great nights is bound to continue at the annual Rolex Golf Challenge on Sept 12 at SICC’s new course.
Singapore’s oldest golf club is also looking forward to the official opening of the Island Course on Sept 17, which will be graced by Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong.
