If there is one game that you don’t want to miss in college football this weekend, it’s Michigan at Oklahoma. Oklahoma will be a five-point favorite. The total sits at 45. And in this video, I’m going to talk about the side. I’m going to talk about the total. I’m going to try to predict the exact final score. So, let’s get into it. Oklahoma is coming off a 35-3 win over Illinois State. John Matier threw for 392 yards, three touchdowns, and a pick on 30 of 37 passing, breaking Baker Mayfield’s record for a debut for the Sooners. He also ran for 24 yards and a touchdown. Oklahoma, though, just 103 rushing yards on 32 carries, 3.2 yards per carry. And I see a lot of analysts saying, “Oh, we’re not sure if Oklahoma can run the ball.” Uh, I think that’s a bad take. I think that Oklahoma knew that they had Michigan on deck. They knew that the Wolverines coaching staff would be watching the tape of the Illinois State game all week long. So, they weren’t going to show that much. I would expect uh our buckle to uh bring out a whole different bag of tricks this week in a home game against the Wolverines. One thing I will say about uh Oklahoma, Brett Venibals, the head coach, has a record of 21 and5 against freshman quarterbacks in his career as a play caller. Uh 21 and five, that’s quite impressive against freshman quarterbacks. However, what can we read into that? What is the value of that statistic? Because in order to uh to really lean into that statistic, you have to tell yourself that Bryce Underwood is a freshman quarterback and he’s comparable to all 26 of those freshman quarterbacks involved in that statistic. And I think it’s highly improbable that all 26 of those quarterbacks were of the same stature of Bryce Underwood. I can tell you one thing, Underwood’s the only guy that’s got a $12 million deal. And is Bryce Underwood more comparable to the 21 quarterbacks on the losing side or the five quarterbacks on the winning side? I haven’t looked into it, but I think that question probably kind of answers itself. But before we talk about Bryce Underwood and the Michigan Wolverines, big news at wager talk.com for the rest of September. We got a promotion. You can get 30 days all access football. That’s NFL, college football, CFL as well. I’m hitting over 75% with my CFL picks this season. The number one CFL capper at Wager Talk since I arrived on the scene five years ago. Uh NFL, how about a perfect 5-0 preseason dating back to last year’s playoffs? 215-1, that’s 81% uh with NFL picks. College football week one uh let’s say this. The reason uh we’re really let’s say we’re looking forward to week two about that. We’ll just leave it at that. As always, no purchase necessary. You’re more than welcome to tune in just for the free picks, but I do want to hear your comments. Please let me know who you like in this game, uh, in every other game on this slate. And if you don’t mind, please smash the like button as well. That really helps us out here at Wager Talk TV. Now, let’s talk about the Michigan Wolverines. They’re coming off a 34-7 win over New Mexico. That’s a New Mexico team that lost its entire roster and its head coach and its offensive coordinator. Um, their defense was terrible last year though, so the turnover might have actually been a positive thing. Bryce Underwood throws for 251 yards and a touchdown on 21 of 31 passing. Uh, Justice Haynes runs for 159 yards on 16 carries. Um, again, how much can we read into these numbers? the Wolverines coaching staff would have known that they would be putting everything on tape for Oklahoma to look at all week. So, probably a lot of vanilla. Just get out of there with a win. They did get uh some action for Bryce Underwood. 251 yards and a touchdown on 21 of 31 passing isn’t bad. And uh they ran the ball for 201 yards on 32 carries. So, they pretty much doubled the rushing uh per carry statistics of Oklahoma. Again, we’re not reading into these week one results against Cupcakes. But let’s talk about the total because when it opened at 45 a half, I thought to myself, that’s a pretty low number uh based on the quarterback play that I expect in this game. And what would that number have been if it was Davis Warren and Jackson Arnold in this game? Would it have been 35? I mean, uh, because I I would expect a lot more scoring with John Matier and Bryce Underwood than I would with those, uh, previously mentioned guys that, um, don’t inspire a lot of confidence. Let’s look at some of Michigan’s games last year. A 1913 win over Alabama, the total was 41 a half. And a 3112 loss to Texas, the total was 45. And again, that was with Davis Warren at quarterback or Alex Orgy or one of the the handful of guys they used without any success in the passing game last year. And I expect it to be different this year. I I think that if uh if Michigan goes down 21-7 in the first half, they can they can expect to uh throw the ball and get back into the game with Bryce Underwood, at least they they have a chance. They have no chance with Davis Warren or Alex Orgy. I I think both these teams score 21 points and if we get to 212 21 we’re not going under that number of 45. I think the final score is going to be 27 to 21 for Oklahoma and that means it’s going to be an over. I like the over 45 in this game based on what I think we can expect from the two quarterbacks, starting quarterbacks in this game. Your reasoning is illogical why Oklahoma didn't run the ball…no Coach in the history of football has hid their play calling their first game…this makes no sense at all. We are talking about the Running game and not some type of Trick plays…there is no excuse for Oklahoma only having 103 yards against a team this bad …this has to go down as the worst handicapping I have ever seen and I have been doing this for 40 years…
