WILLIAMSBURG, Va.– The William & Mary men’s golf team kicks off their season on Saturday with a trip to the Bryan National Collegiate hosted by UNCG.
Tim Pemberton enters his sixth season as the head coach of the Tribe, with Davis Adams, Preston Burton, Luke Walmet and Grady Williams making up W&M’s four returners.
Teeing Off
William & Mary men’s golf kicks off their 2025-26 season with two days of competition over 54-holes at the Bryan National Collegiate hosted by UNC Greensboro on Sept. 6-7. The Champions Course at Bryan Park will play host for the event. The tournament is one of four repeat events from a year ago on the W&M fall schedule.
Looking Back
The Tribe’s 2024-25 campaign saw Pemberton’s squad post a 297.0 scoring average over 29 rounds. W&M scored five top-five finishes in its 10 events a season ago, highlighted by a T-2 finish in the fall finale at the Lehigh Invitational. The Green and Gold also posted three team rounds of par-or-better over the year. Preston Burton is W&M’s leading returner with a 74.82 scoring average over all 29 rounds last year. His score was counted a team-high 28 times in 2024-25.
Finishing Strong
For the second consecutive season the Tribe had the final round was the team’s best scoring average wise. W&M opened its season last year with an even-par 288 in the final round of the Bryan National Collegiate.
The Course
Host of the 2010 U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship, the Champions Course at Bryan Park was masterfully designed by renowned architect Rees Jones. From the back tees, the track plays to a par of 72 at 7,255 yards with elevation changes, forced carries and bunkers waiting on every shot. Since 2010 the Champions Course has gained national recognition, being named the No. 9 best course in North Carolina and third best public course in the state by Golf Digest. It was also named No. 4 Top Public Course in N.C. by North Carolina Magazine.
History at Bryan Park
For the third straight fall the Tribe will tee it up at the Bryan National Collegiate. W&M earned a third-place finish in 2023 before coming in fifth out of 10 teams a season ago. Three of the Tribe’s last five rounds on the Champions Course have resulted in scores of even-par 288.
Fall Schedule
The Tribe’s fall schedule features limited changes from a season ago. After beginning at UNCG for the second straight year the Green and Gold returns to The Goat (Navy), the Nemacolin College Invitational (West Virginia) and the Georgetown Intercollegiate. W&M’s last two fall events are new adds this year, sending individuals to the VSGA Intercollegiate at Lake Chesdin Golf Club in Chesterfield, Va. before wrapping the fall at Old Dominion’s OBX Intercollegiate on Oct. 26-28.
