Eight years ago, Flight Scope changed the game when they came out with their MEVO launch monitor. And now they have updated it with Gen 2, and I’ve got it here with me. We’re going to unbox it. We’re going to talk about the differences between Flight Scope Meo 1 and Meibo Gen 2, and we’ll put it all together for you in this video. I’m Ryan Bingy with Golf Newset. Great to have you here for this one. Uh, I got this box from Flight Scope probably about three weeks ago, two weeks ago, and I was out of town. Uh, I didn’t even know it was coming. It was a total surprise. I had no idea this was coming and one of our friends was kind enough to come pick it up. Just got it uh from them. Got a chance to see them. And this is the Flight Scope Meo Gen 2. So, just for some comparison, I bought the MEO Gen 1 in 2017 when it became available for pre-order. It It’s this guy right here. It’s the exact unit. I’ve had it ever since. I’ve used it in some club reviews, not all of them, but a lot of them. you know, it had a nice little kickand to it. At the time, it was revolutionary. You picked like 10 or 12 different data points. It still used old USB version 1.0, like the the very thick version of it to charge. The battery life was great. It still works. It’s still very good. However, things have changed. Technology is better. Light scope has improved lots of things on their own. And so they wanted to come out with a second generation of the MEVO that not only did a lot of the things that the MEVO still does, but allows you to do some additional stuff, including simulation. So, first I want to open this box for you. I’ve already kind of done the hard work of it. Open the box. Throw that down here. This is the MEO 2 box. Okay. So, by comparison, here’s the MEO one box. So definitely a bigger product, right? Way bigger. Way bigger impression. And so we’re gonna open up here real quick. There goes that. Got our little piece of paper here. Pull this out. And this is the box for the MEO 2. Okay. So it comes in a nice carrying case. This we open up here as we’re opening up. It’s a $1,200 price point. I think the original MEVO was something like $500, $550 somewhere in that range. I mean, it come down obviously in the years since because while they had done firmware updates and other updates to the software, the mobile software, you know, the the core technology had not changed a ton, right? But this is definitely a step up in class. So, here it is. Here’s the MEO 2. It’s good looking uh by comparison, just so we’re completing the full comparison here. That is the MEVO one and that is the MEO 2. Very very different, right? Um, actually this is this almost feels a little bit heavier to be honest with you than this does. I don’t know the exact weight difference. I didn’t research that ahead of time. However, this guy uses fusion tracking which is an improvement upon the original of the MEVO. And this is obviously a bigger unit. It’s got a kickstand on the back. So, you just press this bad boy in and all of a sudden you got a kickstand there that it can sit on. You can use this thing indoors and outdoors with the handy dandy quick start guide that comes with it. It’ll recommend that you want to use this. There’s stickers that come with it. I actually still have in my office a big old sleeve of these aluminum stickers from when I bought this MEO eight years ago. I haven’t used them all, but you can use these Chinese stickers if you are hitting the ball indoors. You need at least 8 ft of clearance from where you hit the ball to where it hits a screen or hits, you know, hits a contact point so it can pick up the data. This has to sit about, I don’t know, a couple feet behind it so that you can make sure it captures the data correctly. There’s a power switch there. It’s got a charging cable here that’s USBC. So, this is the same kind of charging cable and charging port you’re going to see on pretty much all your cell phones these days, but it’s USBC. Probably if you have like a Nintendo Switch or your kids have it, it’s probably the same kind of charging thing as the Nintendo Switch. If you’ll notice back in the day, they had not gone to USB minis at that point. So, you still had the big old thick ones that go in there. I’ve kept this cord all this specific cord all these years because of this. and, you know, came in a sleeve at the time. This obviously comes in something nicer. The technology is better for this $1,200 product. So, it picks up 18 different points of data. So it picks up carry distance, roll distance, total distance, ball speed and club speed, smash factor, which is of course just a division problem, vertical launch angle, horizontal launch angle, spin rate, spin axis, apex height, total flight time, lateral landing, the angle of attack, and your shot type. That’s on the full swing. You take away a little bit of that, of course, for chipping because you take away the shot type for that because it knows the shot type, right? And then on putting it will give you the launch speed, total distance, and ball direction. So all of that to say with all of those data points, this also comes with a lifetime ownership of E6 Connect simulation. So you get eight golf courses with this thing right out of the box. You get Kiwa Islands ocean course. You get Tory Pine South. You get Kapalooa Plantation, Balorama out in Spain, Sea Islands Seaside Course, Pelican Hill out in California, Chateau Whistler out in British Columbia, Canada, and Latroe Country Club in Pennsylvania, which uh my in-laws live like 10 minutes away from play. Really enjoyed it. It’s really kind of a nice little bonus to be able to uh to have that as part of the eight courses. So, you can use this in iOS or PC straight out of the box. So, if you’ve got an iPad, which seems to kind of be what they’re pushing people toward, but you can use an iPad to connect with this and then that kind of displays everything. Uh you can do it with your PC either way. Then you can get it onto a projector if you have a home simulation unit and that way you can do pretty much all the simulation you want to do from this unit right away. no subscriptions, which I I think is tremendous. I think was a great choice by them. I know a number of companies offer subscriptions, yearly subscriptions for their rangefinders. They didn’t do that with this. They wanted to get you something that you could use that you could use a simulator with that could be kind of an everyday workhorse type unit for you if you do a lot of data tracking. And you could do it indoors and outdoors. You could do it in simulation. You can do it just to get data. It’s not heavy. It’s easy to transport. This is a winner. And the next steps for me are going to be putting this thing into action. So, uh, we’re going to charge this thing up. It has a six hour battery life, so it says, and of course, if you keep it plugged in, I’m sure it stays in for longer. So, if you did it for indoor simulation, you could use the charging cable, have a extension cord and just keep this thing rolling pretty much as long as you want. But for an outdoor purpose, you’re going to need the battery. So, you can use that. So, we’re going to try it indoors and outdoors. I’ll try the simulation capability with it. I do have a simulator set up in my garage, so we’ll give that a shot and we’ll see how long it lasts, how well it does with the data, what the simulation looks like, uh, indoor and outdoor comparisons, all that good stuff in a future video. But, I just wanted to unbox this cuz I was so excited about getting this. I had to wait a couple of weeks because I was out of town, didn’t know it was coming to get the box. Wanted to show it to you, talk about it for a few minutes, talk about the improvements over the Mibo One. I’m obviously somewhat nostalgic about it to have kept it all these years and still m have been using it in reviews to to this day to capture data about golf club performance. So really excited to check this out. We’ll have a future video probably in one to two weeks where we go through all the paces with this, but we have a lot of content otherwise to get on the channel because it’s been a long summer and a lot of stuff is kind of backed up. So wanted to get this out there on your radar. Harahar. uh about this launch monitor that it is $1,200 that it is a a pretty reasonable price point for what you get with the simulation capability, puts it squarely kind of in that Skyrack range, which I think a lot of people would like if you are in that more budget friendly range for a launch monitor and you’re looking for something with simulation capability. Certainly more expensive than kind of some of the super low-end units. Uh, but this is, I think, a really nice sweet spot for you that you can use E6, you can do the simulation with it right out the box. There is no subscription. It’s a higherend unit in terms of quality and technology based on my experience with Flight Scope. So, this is going to be a great thing to be able to try. Can’t wait to do it. We’ll let you know the results soon in a video and we’ll see you soon on the channel. Well, thanks so much for watching.
