I’ve been practicing hard before a golf trip to Scottsdale. I can’t seem to get any consistent accuracy with my irons. My misses tend to be either a pull or I leave the club face open and the ball goes 45 degrees left. If I swing any less than full my mechanics break down completely. Any tips?

Swing changes before a trip are rough. I’ve never had any that stuck during a trip. Manage the best u can if u wanna score well. If it’s your first time playing desert golf, then remember the ball goes further and tends to roll out more with the dry conditions. Bermuda grass can be tough to hit out of so take practice swings and feel the club face interaction. Fat shots will be eaten up in Bermuda grass. Aim for the widest parts of the fairway, and middle of the greens.
It’s beautiful out there so have a blast and tweak your swing when u get back. If u can take videos on the trip, you can study your swing issues after and take them to a pro.
Your swing is flat. Tuck your right bicep under your chin on takeaway.
You are standing the wrong way around.
Use your wrists. In your backswing when your left arm is parallel to the ground the club shaft should be almost completely vertical and perpendicular to your left arm.
For now, try shortening your swing so you don’t go past vertical.
