I Challenged Him In The Golf Course Parking Lot| Walk On Wagers East Coast

Hey guys, welcome back to the channel. Today we at Whiskey Creek in Maryland. Very beautiful here. It’s a ball rolling by. We have a very special series. It’s Walk-On Wagers East Coast Edition brought to you by FourYards Mortise. Let’s get into who our victim is. We had a previous offender victim, Ellis. He said there’s a very good college coach in the area that we have to challenge. His name is Greg. He thinks he’s coming to play with Ellis few times in like 10 minutes. Let’s see how this goes. How’s it going? Good. You must be Greg. Oh, right. Yeah. Hi, I’m Alen. Nice to meet you. Pleasure. You’re supposed to be playing with Ellis today, right? Yeah. He might have lied to you. You’re playing with me. It’s not the first time he’s lied to me, but probably not the last either. He said that you’re a great golfer. You’re a coach in the area. Yeah, I coached George Mason University, so he went to school. So, you were his coach that organized that swing he has. No, I can’t take credit for that. Definitely not going to take credit for that. You’re a bit of an upgrade over Ellis. Oh, no. He’s going to see this. Are you okay being on camera? Sure. Do you want to play a golf match? Well, I will say I did uh I kind of sprained my ankle the other day, but I’ll give it my best. So, yeah. You just want to get all the excuses out before the first tea box. So, just make sure to really exaggerate it too for them. So, what is your index? I don’t know. Probably a zero. I am a 5.9. Something like that. Oh, that’s what they all say. That say, you said zero. You’re probably plus if we’re being honest. Um, we’re going to play whites together. Is that fine? Yeah. As far as strokes, what do you think is fair given we’re playing the same T- box? I don’t know. What do you I think I’ve been playing for seven years, so I don’t have the heavy. Yeah. So, I don’t have a crazy golf background. I didn’t play college, none of that. Is it stroke play or match play? Match play. Three shots is pretty good. Is it I think I’m getting moved to three shots, but you know what? I’m here for the challenge. Maybe four. Do you think forcefair? Yeah. I I I don’t know. But I we can adjust if it seems ridiculous. Like I don’t think it will. Okay. I think four is going to hold up. I’ll put four in the corner. I use Jin to handicap it out perfectly. But like I assume you probably don’t carry one anymore. I mean that’s part of the the art of the hustle is accurate information. Speaking of Ellis, he left this in Switzerland. I had to take this home for him. He bought an elephant in Switzerland apparently. What? I wouldn’t buy this. Why would he buy that? Maybe it’s for his mom. Let’s give him some credit. He could have probably if it’s not for his mom. Like that’s pretty uh that and he left his dog swimming vest. He brought his dog to Switzerland. Oh yeah. What kind of dog is it? It’s a little wiener dog. He’s a Yeah, he has a mini wiener dog. This This keeps getting better and better. Yeah. I can’t believe he didn’t show you the wiener dog has his own Instagram. That’s an awesome swing for seven years. Thank you. Did you get to hit balls at all? Uh, yeah, I hit a few. Oh, okay. Well, excuse counter number three, four. That was a little I think that might play for this shot, the pole shape. Yeah, I don’t think it’s that long. Flew back late Tuesday. I went flew back into Dublin. Had a 5h hour layover. You’re coming off of a lot of travel. Yeah. Okay. Any more excuses? Do we have anything else? No. No. Going once. Going twice. Let me think of a few more. Come on. Oopsies. I didn’t know it was going to drizzle today. I know. It’s played yesterday and it started like Did you play here? Boring. No, different course. Oh, yeah. Didn’t you say was it Musket Ridge? Yes, Musket Ridge. So, funny story with the Barst Classic. Bartol classic. I went to that course first. Missed the first hole or two. It’s like Whiskey Creek, Musket Ridge, and I didn’t know. So, I ended up pulling into the other golf course. I was like, “Doesn’t look like there’s going to be a tournament here.” So, I called my buddy. He’s like, “You went to the wrong course.” And he ended up birding the first hole. So, he kind of enjoyed that. So, and that course is not close. That’s like a 25minut. Yeah, it was about a half hour. And that tournament, was it like formatted to where it’s individual or is it No, it’s best twoman 50% of handicap. This is not. I got 131 Good shot. Get up there. Thank you. All right. All right. 95. A little into the wind. Should be on. Right. We got two on the dance floor. Oh, you’re playing tailormaids as well. That’s good. Yes. Yeah. These greens look like they’re in really good shape. Yeah. We’ve had a ton of rain. It’s been like South Florida. I used to live there. It’s like been the same. Just hot, humid, rainy. How long were you in South Florida for? 2007 to 18 in Jupiter. I assume it was for golf. Yeah, I was there before Tiger and Ricky, but and Rory, but got to know them a little bit when I was down there. Oh, really? That’s awesome. Yeah. Well, not Tiger, but Okay, this has to go to the right even though the high points of You want tended or uh It’s okay. Oh my gosh. Hit a house. Oh, that’s pretty good. You’re right. Wow. Great putt. I’ll give you some love on that. That was way too much. Okay. Right out of the shoot, you almost hold a 70footer. Nice par. Thank you. Oh, left it short. Nice roll. Thanks. You got the lab. I needed something. My putter was the worst club in my bag for like years. Like legitimately years. Like I didn’t learn how to putt until this last year. I was horrible. Better late than ever. Yeah, I would just get to the green and feel like, okay, my job’s done. I got it here. I didn’t enjoy putting, but now I’ve like learned to love it and this putter definitely helped me. Putting is like an artistic version of golf. It’s like very different. You have to embrace it. Starts with the mindset. You know, Ben Hogan when he started, he used to be a great putter and then, you know, his eyesight started getting the yips a little bit and then he came to the idea. He’s like, you know, this isn’t fair. Hitting the balls harder. It should be one shot for a regular shot and a half a shot for a putt. What do you want to play for per hole? What do you want? I’m down for whatever, but uh I’m hate to be the bear of bad news, but I took you for that hole cuz I didn’t pop. See? So Oh, you’re taking the four. I’m Oh, you want me to take the three? No. No, that’s fine. I was going to say like, trust me, my my handicap will handicap at some point. Like, well, I don’t care. 10. 10 a hole? Yeah. Uh, all right. How about we do we’ll do five a hole. Five a hole. Okay. With your four. Yeah. to hustle a hustler that you know what they say. What do they say? What do they say? Rat can’t can’t smell its tail. So, I completely saturated my glove yesterday. I didn’t let it dry out. Key mistake. Well, anyways, now I’m rocking this freaking pineapple mesh thing. Yeah, it’s a good look for you. It’s a good look for me. Good shot. Thank you. I think What’s your low score? 72 at a par 71. Yeah, closer, but still terrible. All right, just in the rough. Pretty good considering you didn’t warm up. Yeah, well, I grew up at a course with no range. Okay, so this is this is nothing new to you. You’re not new to this. You’re two to this to this day. I don’t like to start with wedges. I’ll start with like a nine or an eight iron. Yeah. Well, you know, Tom Watson used to famously start with like a three iron. I kind of follow that mindset. I don’t think you’re wrong about that whatsoever. Well, one thing about golf, you know, you can kind of need to do your own thing and whatever works for you, you run with it. Okay, it says it’s playing 91. I either got a big 56 or a tiny 52. I think I’m going to take the 56. M. Wow, you flushed it. Well, looks like the right club, maybe. I don’t know. My divot definitely didn’t fly backwards, but 65 How long have you played golf for now? Pretty much my whole life. I mean, I grew up Pennsylvania. My sisters played college basketball. I played basketball. So, it kind of came from that background. None of my friends growing up played golf. It was just me and my dad kind of thing. And then it wasn’t until I got to college and started playing on a team there and really had people my own age that play. After that, golf started becoming cooler. So some of my friends started playing. Like when you start before your friends start, like they don’t really have a chance. Well, you’re always beating them. I don’t think they would have had that much of a chance anyway. I see what you’re saying. So now they’re always like, I have five nieces and nephews and it’s like or my friends kids, it’s like, hey, can you help them out? Hey, can you give them some lessons or some tips or whatever? And you know, it’s still like anything. It’s like if you play it for fun, just have fun. Your expectations need to meet, you know, what you’re able to do. If you’re busy with life and work and jobs and you can’t practice, just enjoy the game. It’s funny cuz I always tell people about that. Be realistic with your expectations when it comes to golf. Like, we all suck at golf. Like, it’s very hard to be good. You know who actually the most annoying person in the world is? It’s the guy who’s like pretty good. He’s like a single digit. And he’s the guy that wants to prove how good he is to you. And it’s like, dude, I don’t care. Like, you’re not the best guy I’ve ever played with. You’re not the worst. You’re going to be somewhere in the middle. So, just have fun. You don’t put in the time or have the talent to be like a pro. So, they have pro expectations. And that’s why now with the data strokes gain, it’s like, you know, what a good shot is. We do that with our team. It’s like defining with strokes with proximity to the hole because people think it’s like, oh, a pro should never miss a green with a wedge and like Tiger missed like 80% of his greens with a wedge. But don’t let reality get in the way of a good story if I hit it. Wow. Nice birdie. All right, you got this one. I got a must make. By the way, that was a great shot in there. Pick the right club. All right, we got a muddy ball here. Going to play this. You know, you’re allowed to wipe it off. I know, but I don’t have a towel with me. It’s on my car and I’m a little dry towel or is it wet from yesterday? It’s dry from yesterday. So, I got a wet glove from yesterday, but a dry towel. Make it make sense. That was a great putt. Pain. All right. Not a dry eye in the house, as they say. But that was a good putt. You know, one of the things we talk about with our team or our players is putting, you know, you have so little control over it. Once you hit it, you’re literally putting on a plant and it’s imperfect. There’s footprints, there’s ball marks, there’s all kind of stuff. I always like the the Jack Nicholas. He said, “Um, not every putt I made went in.” I thought that was a brilliant way to look at it. At the end of the day, you’re right. We’re subject to the mercy of the greens. Sometimes it hits something and it moves. It’s like, okay, well, that wasn’t a true rule, but all you could do is hit the right line. You couldn’t anticipate. Yeah. And connecting what to what we were saying with that person that struggle, you know, with golf. It’s like giving up the control. Like, we’re such control freaks and a lot of time, you know, people that are super successful in life, you know, gravitate towards golf cuz it’s so hard. At the same time, they’re used to controlling everything. In order to like really be a great golfer, you have to accept what you can’t control. Do you want to go first or uh you have honors. Okay. Oh, wow. Nice shot. Thank you. And you were worried about four strokes like you’re on the pink. I I saw the way you hit the ball. It’s amazing. I mean, you lipped out one two putts in a row, too. So, I mean, playing 140 or is is this like actual? Well, I think it’s right about right around there. 140 to 145 cuz it’s uphill. Okay. I was in between. I hit a little nine. If you hit a nine, I need to club up a little bit. We got the tee by four yards more. I called this a one yard more. Little mini cute little Got an eight iron. Oh, that should then win. Thin to win. Good shot. That’s going to be stiff again, you know, kind of I’m glad I clubbed up cuz if I hit that nine thin, that wouldn’t have been to win. See, I have this aesthetic nice towel. Well, yeah. It’s like a satin towel. It’s like a Picasso. Like I don’t know why I I like it, but it is. I mean, it’s I need a second one, though. You know, cavemanesque. Too cavemanesque for the Picasso’s house. Yeah. Yeah. I’m just more utilitarian. See, as a lady, I think I’m probably a very utilitarian woman. Like when it comes to being artsy and all those things like like putting for example, like that’s an artsy thing. And it took me the longest to figure out. All I wanted to do is pound driver and learn how to hit hard and far. And that’s like that’s not very feminine. Like most women like would come to putting more than hitting. Yeah. But that’s fun part. But but that’s one of the you can always tell when learn the game of golf as an adult or as a junior. It’s basically how they swing. Cuz a junior, you’re small, you’re light, you’re weak. So, you learn to use the ground and you learn to use your whole body and hit it hard. Adults, they’re so afraid to make mistakes. So, they swing very inert with their lower body, like they’re in cement. You know, the other part is the mindset. Again, you get a successful adult, they don’t want to make a mistake. And when I worked at a private club, I asked, “Oh, how’d it go out there?” And they would always tell me like their worst shots. Oh, I played okay, but then on this hole, this hole, and then I’d get a 10-year-old kid and you’d say, “How’d it go out there?” And all they want to do is tell you about their best shots. I would tell the adult, “What’s wrong with that?” That’s the mindset you need to have, the positive, you know, remember the good ones. Correct. So, that’s why kids swing with no fear. And that’s actually the best way to develop kind of a a powerful golf swing. All right, I’m going to bring my towel next time so you’re not wiping your ball off. You saw me secretly doing that. My secret little ball wiper thing. So, you use aim point? Uh, I have an adopted version of it. I don’t know that it works or if I’m just doing it cuz it’s my routine, but I try to feel the greens like visually look at the high point. So, I don’t know if it works. It’s just part of the Well, hey, the value if you think it works, that alone is powerful placebo effect. All right, that’s good par. Kind of a funky. Yep. Oh, I played the break. It wasn’t there. Oh, let you off the hook. See, in my head, I was already down. In my head, I was like, “Yeah, this is You never know.” Wow. Nice shot. Thanks. Oh, just in the rough again. Yeah, you hit the driver. You’re great. Thank you. It’s a four yards Mortise. Is that the secret? Yeah. Hitting it just just four yards further. That’s all. I might have to invest in them for our team. Got to get a good fly or lie going on. I got some. They’re pink. I don’t know if pink’s your thing. I’m not afraid to rock pink. I like that. Real men wear pink. Agreed. Now that I know Ellis has a wiener dog. Oh, yeah. All makes sense. It all It all adds up. I think you literally got the dog for, you know, to meet girls, but a wiener dog. Mini wiener dog. So, it’s not just a regular wiener. It’s a mini. Correct. It’s a micro wiener. Yes. I’m not touching him. But yeah, I didn’t get any good information when we played our match. I I didn’t get like I didn’t know any of this about him. Like I asked him all the kind of standard questions, you know? He didn’t push at all. He didn’t He didn’t tell me about his microer like Well, maybe he’s embarrassed about it. He might be. Just bring the whole bag. Why don’t we? You see how it blended in though? Like I thought it was a piece of trash. Whoa. He said I could wipe it off, but that’s not like technical. Yeah, I think you got ground under repair. Casual water. Okay. Ground. So, I I could actually take relief from that. Yeah. I don’t have a tee to do it the USGA way, so I’d mark a T. Okay. I don’t know where the pin is. I think I should just take a sevenwood straight and we’re in some water. Oh my god, this if I hit this mud, I’m going to be wearing it. Shot went straight, but I think it’s on my face. Yeah, I got mud on my face. Love that. I’m going to hit my seven. Trusty sevenwood. I love the seven wood. That’s why I just hit back there. You’re going for it. Oh yeah. Go big or go home. No micro wieners here. No. Take. All right. You’re good. It’s just short. Just in the fairway. You keep it uh keep it clean on these or Oh, no. You can drink as much as you want. I personally won’t cuz my game doesn’t go with my game. Unless I’m down bad, but you can drink if you if you like. You know, one was a discreet boozer, so he was fine. And the other was an obnoxious Oh. bag of booze. Lazy. Yeah. People didn’t take so kindly to him. I give you credit for just like going in cold with people. Yeah. I mean I I mean just rolling up in the parking lot with me. I could have been a crazy you know. You could have been. I’ve been pretty lucky so far with the golfers I’ve challenged. I haven’t had a bad experience where like you know anyone’s been weird or creepy. And I like to think that there’s if you took the general population of people versus golfers like you’re going to have less golfer creeps than you have regular people creeps. That’s true. Just you know even if it’s by a slight percentage less likely. Yeah. thin it to win it. No kick it. Okay, it hit a few times. It’s might be just 74 yards. It looked good. Thanks. I think it’s a little deep. Is it you or me? I think it’s you. Probably me, I guess. Yeah. Wow, nice touch. That’s good. I’m in like a plot of like a straight line of dirt. I saw that. You could get a drop if you want. That probably I mean I don’t know that that USGA does that it’s inconsistent. But is there a rule about that or no? Cuz I don’t want to take it if it’s not a rule. Well, that’d be that’d be kind of It’s definitely not supposed to be there. I mean, they could easily either say you’d have to play it or not. I guess I’ll just play it. All right. I guess it wouldn’t be that different out of that. Yeah. Not bad out of there. Good shot. I’ll take it. Well, you’re stroking, too, so I got to make that. Yeah. To win. I mean, you don’t have to, but yours I don’t technically have to. Yours is good. Oh, thanks. You’re the best. This almost feels like it’s coming downhill. Right to left. Good putt. Thank you. Do you have an athletic background before golf? Yeah, I had played a lot of sports growing up. I did. I could tell. Yeah, I did softball, volleyball, some swim. Uhhuh. Once I had kind of injured my back. Okay. So, yeah, I’ve I should have honestly just started golf when my grandpa encouraged me to. But, see, Gramps always knows best. Gramps knew, right? He was so right about it. Thought it was a boring sport. He He knew. Correct. One thing when I recruit, I look for good athletes that maybe started the game late. You know, a lot of kids that either played baseball or basketball or something else and then same thing like you, they came to golf for whatever reason and they’ve become very good, but they got a late start in terms of the college recruiting process. And a lot of those athletes have more potential than the junior golfers. Not that junior golfers obviously are better, like there’s a point, but I think that they have more love for the game and they’re willing to get ahead as far as like spend the time and hours to Oh, I agree. I think there’s a lot of transferable skills in other sports to golf that people don’t realize and that competitiveness competitiveness like you can’t shake that. Yeah, man. This is gorgeous. Yeah. Especially in the fall when the leaves in another month, month and a half. Like the acoustics I I remember this hole specifically last time I was here. Like the acoustics are just so good. All the locust lotus. Yeah, I was calling the locustes. The Lokai Lotuses. The white lot. The white lotus. I watched that recently. Did you watch that? The white lotus. Good. Yeah. I like the first season and then like one of them kind of went off the rails. Yeah. The I think they’ve had three so far. Yeah. The middle one was a little weird. Yeah. I agree. Going. I hit it so bad. It’s fine. Yeah. So bad. You’re only 10 yards off the fairway. That’s That’s a good miss. I should have known better. I’ve cut every driver and now I have to hit a high draw. You know, I noticed that. I was going to ask if that was like your shot shape of choice, the cut, or if you were just like warming up with the No, not really. Yeah, it’s still warming up. And so, we got the four yards more. Four yards more. Also makes a little hybrid tea. I call this the two yards more. And then last but not least, the one yard more. This is just when you’re teeing up little iron shots. Very effective. I like these TE’s. They give you what they call a fly or lie. So it gives you gives you, you know, a little boost on your competition. Huge thanks to FourYards Morris for sponsoring this video. If you guys are interested in their TE’s, you can find them at any Roger Dunn Global Golf Dick Sporting Goods. You can also purchase these online. If you’re interested, scan the link below and it’ll lead you directly to their website. Because let’s be honest with ourselves, no matter where your game’s at, we could all use four yards more. Ankle still a little stiff. So, but the good part is on the other side, it’s predictable. Oh, no. That’s trouble. I think it’s okay though. It’s in the bunker. Is it? Oh, I thought it was over the bunker, but definitely in that bunker on the right. We’ll see. But no, like I said, seriously, I’m not just saying it like you have good swing, good motion, you you have good kind of uh fundamentals, things you can’t teach. You just keep keep playing and playing. You’ll just get a little better, a little better. Especially then, you know, it’s about the scoring, getting up and down, you know, the putting part like you said that that’s your money club. like you have to make putts to play well. And it’s it’s also about the momentum. Putting is since it’s final, putting is the last thing you do. If you hit a bad T-shot, a bad second shot, even a bad chip, you could theoretically make a great putt or a great next shot. You know, with with putting, you make a bad putt, it’s over. Yeah. Putting is like the great equalizer is what I call it. Because a lot of these old guys, they come out, they don’t get hit the ball far, they hit straight, but once they’re on the green, they’re deadly. Exactly. You know, they’ve had they’ve gotten their reps and they know what the greens are doing. And some of them don’t putt anything inside of 4T. So that really I mean, that’s Yeah, that that really helps the handicap, right? You pick everything up. Yeah. If I’m playing and I’m logging it for Jin and it’s inside like I I have to putt it out otherwise. You could tell like again there’s a certain way you handle putting if people are kind of nervous or they’re fidgety. People have actually said something to me about the lack of putts I give just cuz like I’ve seen guys literally that haven’t ever putt out a one-footer. Miss a one-footer. Correct. Well, again, it’s the ego part. Yeah. And that’s the I can’t miss this. No, I don’t miss these. Exactly. It’s like Well, first of all, again, it’s that that giving up that control. Everybody’s going to miss one eventually. Yes. But so it’s like the fact that Yeah. should it not happen? Obviously, but it will. Yeah. And then it’s like how do you how do you react to it? Mhm. Cuz that little seed will sit in your head for the rest of the round if you’re not mentally strong. Well, usually the very next t-shot. Oh, yeah. Where people they’ll get up and they’ll hit a bad T-OT. Now you’ve compounded it. That’s why Sheffller, you know, his bounceback stat on tour is unbelievable, which is a hole after a bogey or worse. He leads the tour. He was like 50%. I didn’t know that about him. Oh, yeah. That’s interesting. All right, we got 115. Well, at least you got a good lie in the bunker. Oh, yeah. This is This is a great bunker shot. Taking a pitching wedge. Just going to try to hit this clean. Oh, no. Did I line up there? Okay. I think it’s just the next T box. Oh, I think Yeah, probably a little bit, but it sounded a little thin, too, so it might have just I thought it line to the flag. Okay, I got to get left of you and then you could adjust from the flag maybe five yards. Bunker. Really? Yeah. There’s a Wait. Tried to tell. Was the bunker in front or behind? What’s that? Was a bunker in front? Yeah. Oh, that’s why was trying to give you over here. So, shoot. I didn’t All right, you got this. This is for par. All right. Sounded like it was a little firm. Yeah, a little wet. Oh, that’s the beauty of match play. You can get them all out on one hole. Yep. Wow. Is that slow? Do you want me to pull it? Sure. Thank you. That’s good. Good win. Thanks. I hope I didn’t pop there. That’d be a waste of a pop. I don’t think this hole would be a pop. I don’t think so either. So, to be honest, if I probably had to make, you know, grind to make you feel better. Probably could have grinded it for a par, but Oh, you’re saying that you missed that putt because you didn’t need to make it. Is that what you’re saying? No, I’m saying my third shot I probably would have gotten a little closer. Not the fourth one. Yeah, you’re right. You You had it pretty safe as far as you didn’t have to do very much with that that first shot. You know, to me, I just I want to see you play well, too. So, all right. Now, I really have to grind. I have no pops till 9. Wow, that’s perfect. Yeah, nice shot. will work. Shot. It’s going to be okay. Should kick left. Yeah, this is Yeah, perfect. There you go. Scotty Sheffler. Bounce back. Thanks. It’s funny cuz I was thinking about that. I’m like, I got to hit a good T- shot. I got I can’t let this one go out the window. You know that song by him on camera. Everybody makes mistakes. No, never mind. I don’t sing more for me. I can’t. I’m a horrible singer. I know that, but Everybody makes mistakes. No, everybody has those days. By the way, I like 1 2 3 4 and then it like goes in every like the beat gets like, you know, the club something like that. No, closer. Is that a middle pin or do you see the pin location right there? It It’s kind of It’s middle but it’s way left. So, it’s a real shallow part of the green. So, the deepest point of the green is kind of where the rake is in between the two bunkers. All right. I’m going to favor that side definitely towards the rake. I’m taking a nine. It says it’s going to play 124. Does that not sound right to you? Yeah. Are you using your slope? Yeah. Oh, okay. Speaking of Yeah, it’s 124 to the pin. I think it’s going to play 30 35 uphill into the wind. Good swing. Definitely played that 30. Good. But maybe it might be just a hair deep because that green’s so shallow there. But yeah, we’ll see. It was a good strike. I think this is By the way, I would just again being my coach in me, you took a a proper drop, but if I had to, I’d probably try and put that on the up slope for that shot as opposed to a little down slope. Okay. See, I was just so it wouldn’t come out so flat. I wasn’t sure if that was technically closer. Like that’s why I took it this way. Like I don’t want to like Yeah. No, you were you were good. Like I said, just maybe that would be give myself a better advantage. Yeah. Yeah. Cuz you hit a good shot. Well, hopefully it’s not too long. How long have you been with Tailor Made? Well, when I was in college, I was with titleist and then when I was a playing pro titleist and then by 10 years, I guess almost. So, you were playing professionally at one level. Okay. And then, um, for like four or five years, I got offered a job as an assistant pro at a high-end club in Boston. Oh, which club? Uh, Weston Golf Club. Oh, wow. That place definitely does. See, nice birdie time again. Bounce back. She’s leaving me hanging out. I tend to have uh not good stats as far as like bounce back. I played a qualifier the other day and I had no bounce back. Like I was good through nine. I played well. Mhm. Made the turn, hit one out, hit another one. I end up with a triple. I went triple double double. So consecutively. Yes. See, that’s my point. Even with our players, I would say 2/3 to 3/4 of, you know, if they if they play 18 holes and they’re four over in a round, probably three of the over is in one cluster or or two clusters. Yeah. And then the other 14 holes they’re even or under. Like that’s the hardest part about golf is you can learn the skill set and be good, but the mental part like people kind of underestimate like mentally being able to bounce back and be strong and not like There’s a mental conditioning to it. So, what qualifier did you play? Uh, the midam. Good for you. Thank you. It was my first one ever. So, I kind I didn’t expect greatness, but I was still like I was a little disgusted with myself afterwards. Like, I just feel like I could have played a lot better than I did, and that’s never a fun feeling. See, but that’s what makes you a good competitor. So, you just learn from that. Yeah. And I I did learn a lot. Like a lot of things, a lot of rules I didn’t even know that I learned. Well, I was going to say there’s a lot of things to tournament golf that’s very different. Get there and you made it. Oh, darn. That’s good. Good park. Thank you. So, what was the the a rule or that you thought was surprised you about tournament competition? So, my caddy he got upset cuz I put my uh my putter down on the fringe. And he’s like, “Do you don’t ever put your equipment down on the surface of the near the surface of the green cuz a player could say something like you were using that to indicate the slope.” He said it wasn’t a rule, but it was something that you don’t want to do in tournament. What kind of cat? You had a hard oak. Yeah, that’s not a rule, but hit the ball. Same thing was you. Good. Would have had it if I hit it. Another rule that was actually a rule. So on my practice round I was at hole 18 and like there’s a fence that fences off the cars and there’s ivy growing on it and I was not up against it but I was close to it but in my practice swing I hit a couple leaves. Oh no. Yeah. Yeah. And he was like okay like he let me hit my shot and after he told me he’s like hey if that happens like that’s like the leaves falling and stuff like that’s a penalty. Yeah. And I was like okay good to know cuz like I genuinely didn’t know that. Yeah. And that’s a good one to know cuz it could it happen. It’s like a common occurrence. You know, you hit it up against a tree and if anything falls Yeah. It’s deemed to be improving your One of the girls was telling me she forgot to sign her scorecard at the end of round and she went to the parking lot and then ran back. Yeah. And they deemed hers like off site and she got left the scoring area. Yes. And they like she got DQed. There was an official there and they said that they had changed that ruling. Well, a lot of times what they’ll do is they’ll it’s not their responsibility against the players, but they’ll they won’t let you leave the scoring area till they have two signatures. Like they’ll check that failure is part of success. And when I say failure, I don’t mean it was a failure for you, but in my head it was, but then it wasn’t like like you said, I learned a lot. It’s like I can’t expect to win everything or win something I’ve never done. Yeah. Your first competitive tournament. My goodness. I got 117. Does that sound right? That sounds right. I got the same. Oh, I pulled it. Had the right number, too. Nice shot. Good shot. Thank you. Oh, a little short. All right, uphill putt. I’ll take that. Was solid. Thank you. Just maybe the wind got you a little bit. Yeah, I think I I didn’t flush that one. It’s definitely half a groove. Well, it’s hard to into the wind cuz if you go long now, you bring both into play. Exactly. I rather have more conservative misses. For a long time in golf, like I didn’t have any fear. I didn’t think about protecting the score. I would just be like, “No, I know this shot.” Like, I wouldn’t think about my misses. And not that you want to plan to miss, but that was a part of my game that I really had to work on was just management. Yeah. And that with our guys, that’s what we work on so much. Obviously, they’re already very talented, skilled golfers. The management side, to your point, rather than thinking of it as one shot, if you think of it out of 10, all right, if I were to hit 10 shots, how do I kind of minimize, you know, the damage of the worst shot? That is a a different way of training. We have to tell them like rather than thinking about the best possible scenario, it’s like well you also have to consider the worst possible scenario. You know, to me it’s like financial, right? The riskreward analysis, right? You can’t just think about, you know, the best hitting the home run with it. You got to think about, you know, if it goes broke, too. Yeah, exactly. Oh, we both got some check on the screen. Yeah. Yours spun back even. Yeah. It it it always seems to spin back more when you’re short of the pin. Yeah. Than when you hit it long. Exactly. And you get it long, I’m off. Short, no problem. Spin back for days. Don’t mind me just playing with my mud ball. You know, I used to caddy, too. And the grossest thing was when people would spit a lugie on their ball. The last thing I wanted to do was like then a spitball. Well, if you have a caddy, you shouldn’t be touching a spitball. Like, they shouldn’t be doing that. People sometimes would do it out of like habit. Oh, so it was like their routine. Now you’re touching their spitball. Like, oh, gross. This guy just smoked 42 cigars and had eight vodka tonics and just hawking them all over. Yeah. Oh, little misread. Oh, nice roll. How many of those? Thank you. Do you have your initials on your belt? No, this is actually my team G GP or my initials is GM. Okay, got you. That’d be a real tool move, but Okay. I feel like this has to come off the hill a little bit. I’m going to go inside, right? That’s what I see. If I were your caddy, I’d say hell yeah. Nice. Solid. Thank you. So, where did you hide? Come back. Thank you. Down uh at Old Palm Golf Club. Is that in uh It’s on PGA Boulevard. Okay. Yeah. Across from PGA National. So Raymond Floyd was uh the founder and architect designer and you know Ernie Ells in there and a couple of guys uh you know they have a bunch of guys that kind of lived in there played on tour and you know for what a while uh Ian Baker Finch lived in there Brad Faxton the uh Lee Westwood had lived in there and was a member and played golf with him and Louis Taisen and a bunch of South Africans Charles Schwarzel so just being around that place and the members were all great. They were super successful people and they gave us the opportunity to play. So when we were done, we take carts and and then they had three practice holes where they shot a lot of commercials and and golf digest or golf do or golf magazine stuff. So yeah, it was really an unbelievable incubator for, you know, people that were trying to aspire to get to the highest level. That’s how then I got to Boston was one of my old sponsors and he was a member there. He was a big commercial developer. Um, and he knew the town and he goes, “Yeah, yeah, that club and that town is the wealthiest place in Massachusetts and my business partners lives there.” And the one thing I learned is that I love teaching golf. I love sharing my passion. So that’s how I kind of got into they put me in charge of the the juniors. And then you know to me I thought the most under kind of utilized appreciated segment was women. So to me it was like you know women I had read control 75% of the household income. So I’m like well if we make country clubs more welcoming and let the moms and and the women use it more everybody wins. The kids will they’ll sign the kids up more. So that’s how we really started. And then when I I became the director of instruction at Manor Country Club in Rockville, once a month we in the summertime we did this uh beat the pro happy hour. We had a little short course. So we’d play two holes. I’d buy him a drink. It would set the mood. It would be we’d get women who had never set foot on the golf course. And we’d go over everything where how do you get a golf cart? You know, how does it work? It’s free to go to the driving range. like everything that you take for granted with protocol that makes a a country club or a golf course intimidating for people, you know, and then afterwards they’d all play a scramble. So, the one time we had like 28 women and if you hit a bad shot, who cares? You take the best one. Yeah. And they almost beat me the one time and there’s a video online of the one God lover narrating, we’re about to beat the pro. And then I made like a no-brainer and then afterwards we’d all have a drink and their families would meet them. It was great. So, it was so fun. Also, yeah. Yeah, that’s a great way to get women involved because a lot of women like they don’t know the first thing. I have so many girlfriends that they want to take it up and they’re too intimidated to go to the driving range because they don’t understand protocol. Correct. Like you said, there is protocol. There’s things you have to do. People don’t know where to drive a cart. No. Like some of them might want to drive it on the green. So, you explain all that little stuff because again, if somebody comes over and yells at you or the marshall or they’re just doing their job, well, that might be a reason I wouldn’t want to come back. Yeah. Exactly. I always loved the beginners that aha moment when they would hit a shot and they’d light up. To me, there’s there’s no better feeling when you see somebody accomplish that. That was better. Wow, that was incredible. Are you Nice shot. Thanks. Good one. Well, that is right of the cart sign. Yeah, but you’re in the fairway. All right. Good shot. A little longer approach shot, but she’ll So, yeah. So, to me, I didn’t kind of come through the traditional sense. So, like what you’re doing for the game, I think is awesome cuz you’re bringing people that maybe normally wouldn’t be interested in golf to it or like Top Golf, all these things. Like I said, I I love it because, you know, once you play this game, you you see all the benefits and how awesome it is. Yeah. Well, my goals are to play the best golf possible. When I started this channel, I didn’t know how to do. I just love playing golf and I was used to kind of creating content around golf. And I feel like short form didn’t suit me very well. I’m more of a I don’t know like short form feels very shallow and quick. Oh, look at the look at the deer. There’s a deer. So for me long form like in like the relationships you make in the game, the people you meet, the different stories you get. I think I find more satisfaction in than just like putting up a quick clip of me hitting the ball. Like I want to showcase more than just like one shot here and there. So I think long form look at look at what good good’s done. Exactly. They were the pioneers. Do you see this baby? I got my beer. Go. You know, sorry. We We took those for those. I got more on me. It’s funny. I saw them on the driving range and I thought to myself, I was like, one of them could be on walk on wagers. One of them. Oh, I trust me. I’m sure you made their day. Now, they were like, “Keep going. You got like” Like, they were like randomly just gave me words of encouragement as they were leaving. I was just like, “Okay, thank you.” All right. 149 playing an eight iron. Another another good shot. Green and red. 15 ft. Go, go, go. Good putt. Thank you. I adjusted at the last second. A little right. A little more right. And I seem to always miss on the right side. Like these putts for me. Well, a lot of times for for a right-handed golfer, you stand on the left side of the ball. So, it’s pretty common to aim too far right. Not just on putts, but all shots. Man, there’s some real unique bugs here. This thing is dead. But like it just has some beautiful wings. It’s a shame it’s dead. All right. Look at these pretty wings. It’s a big one. I need to try and make it. Sorry. Don’t mind us. We’re just observing the bugs. Trust me, I appreciate your love of nature. Oh, that went that way at the end. Yeah, a little bit. That was a tricky. That’s good. Thanks, Oh, I pushed that. That’s Damn it. I lost that one. So, I’m down one going into the last hole. But you’re popping. Damn it. I’m not opposed. I’m always looking for victims and it’s Yeah. Well, you do a fair match. Oh, yeah. For sure. All right. It’s suiting my shot shape today so far. I think this is a par five, too. Oh, where’s the cut? That was least. Yeah, I hit that one better. Ah, your best of the day for the last hole. That slice really just plays, doesn’t it? Just how the hole was drawn up way down there. Yeah. I don’t know who’s coming to my party most days. I don’t know if I’m playing that or like for my tournament, I was playing a draw. Like not a baby draw, an adult draw. Like it was when you got to dance with who br you. Yeah, exactly. That was that was smoke. Yeah, today I’ve definitely been feeling that bias. Like I feel like when I’m trying too hard, I hit a draw with my uh drive relief. When I’m just kind of like getting not lazy, but just kind of letting the ball do its thing, I’m more of a fade player. Well, you hit it plenty far enough regardless. Do you prefer playing? I prefer I prefer the draw cuz when I’m drawing it those days I’m hitting it a little better, right? Like if I’m hitting it off the tea, like I’m pounding it, it’s a draw. Like the week fade, like that’s not a that’s not a strong day for me when it comes to like yardage. Yardage, I guess it doesn’t really matter cuz like I’m getting where I need to go, but like I like to see it, you know, go far. I hit two range. Yeah, thank you. Ah, 216 behind. What club do you need? So, is your play to hit a cut? Well, the problem is my balls on a downhill sidehill right to left. So, to hit a cut would be really hard. I mean, I’m going to try and hit it over the trees. Okay. Short pretty straight because again, the lie is going to deloft it a little bit. So, we’ll see. I did, but I didn’t hit it high enough. All right. Clear shot in. Yeah. Not the place I wanted to be. This is a good place to be hitting your T-shot from. Says it’s playing 215. I’d probably just play the number a little downhill, but yeah, that’s what the adjusted number is, but actual is 224. Oh, okay. So, I think I’m just gonna take a 3-wood. Uh, if it’s a little, if I hit it good, it should be there. Maybe a little long. Well, to the front though, it’s probably only 200. Yeah, I was going to say I can I think you’re probably better off hitting your hybrid, but I think I think I’m better off hitting a sevenwood to be honest. Yeah. Yeah, I like a sevenwood. You know, you launch it up in the air, the wind will take it. Oh, good shot. Thank you. Kick left. Am I Is there something right there? No, I think you’re just in the fairway just 5 yards. That was a safe play. Yeah, it was a good smart shot. No, ma. That that that 3-wood can be a treewood. And I know there’s no trees really up there, but I just Well, especially given the circumstance of the match, you’re getting a shot. Yeah, why bring in Why go for the eagle now when you could make an a birdie right there? Why Why one with an eagle when you could win with a birdie? That looks really good. That’s all over it. All right. Incredible shot. Saying there’s a chance. There’s definitely a chance. Some guy I played with yesterday, he called him the hydrated hippie. He was saying that that’s like a super exclusive club. Like Bill Clinton would like land his helicopter there and play there in the area. I think I know what you’re talking about. I I think there’s only like 60 members or something really, but I don’t know. I I could There is a course. I don’t know. I think that might that’s probably the one. He said it’s super exclusive. He’s like, “Oh, yeah. Call them. They’ll probably let you on.” Cuz again, the season’s limited a little bit here. And most people, they start they all go on vacations everywhere, end of June and July. So, they start coming back now the fall and everything busy. But, you know, uh they have some sister course here. Um, Blue Mash is a good one. Really? Okay. So, you might be able to get them to hook you up with Blue Mash. And there’s a third course. See, this is owned now by Keer Sports. They own a stream down in Florida. Oh, really? So, Keer is a major golf course management company. Oh, interesting. Okay. I didn’t know that. They they must have a league or something. Yeah. They had some tournament going out. I noticed I had to go to the bathroom right before you got here and I walked in to like the main area and they were like undoing an announcement. I was just like deer in headlights like I’m just here to go to the bathroom. It was Yeah, it was a awkward moment. Don’t Don’t mind the one woman that’s here. Yeah, literally. But of course, like the guy’s on the mic and I like walking right behind him. I was just like, “All right.” Yeah, you hit two good shots. Go. Good shot. All right. Got a net eagle putt. Yeah. Net eagles are just they’re just birdies. I can’t feel good about a net eagle, honestly. Well, hey, whatever. Birdie, I’d love to see this go in, though. Me, too. Net eagle or birdie. Great shot you had out there from the rough. That was incredible. Thanks. Okay, this is a mover for sure. Right to left. Pretty uphill. When did they buy a stream song? Was that very recent? Yeah, a couple years ago. Good try. Oh, that was way too aggressive. That’s good. Oh, my knee just popped. You okay? I Yeah, I did hear that. Ah, I’m going to be limping on the back nine now. Oh, nice. The dramatic effect. It was great playing with you. Pleasure. Thanks for having me. Thanks for coming on. I appreciate it. Yeah, you. So, we tied that hole. We tied that hole. Yeah. So, you won five bucks off of me, you know. Wow. Great birdie. That was a really clutch. Well, it was great playing with you. Thank you for coming on into the channel. Thanks for having me in the parking lot. I was just going to like Yeah, I wasn’t going to have this kind of fun, so Well, thank you for being open to it. Really appreciate it. It was pleasure meeting you and seeing you and you have a great game. And like I said, I I’m I’m going to be watching uh the rest of your content. Walk On Wagers East Coast Edition continues at Whiskey Creek Golf Club in Maryland. This entire East Coast series is proudly sponsored by 4 Yards More, the performance golf tee trusted by golfers everywhere.
4 Yards More

For Episode 2, I lined up a surprise victim—Greg, a golf coach at George Mason University—who had no idea he’d be playing me. Here’s the twist: Greg was set up by a previous victim Ellis, who secretly referred him into the Walk On Wagers spotlight. We surprised him in the parking lot and went straight into a handicapped match play battle. The format was straightforward: same tees, strokes adjusted. But Greg isn’t just any golfer—he’s played professional golf, worked as a head pro, and now teaches at Laurel Hill Golf Club. With that much experience, this East Coast edition turned into a true battle.

  1. You picked a good one! A cool, humble guy with a lot of positive insight on the game of golf. I really enjoyed watching this one. 🇺🇸⛳️🇺🇸

  2. This guy is fantastic. Can you please do a video with him about the etiquette on the course. Growing the game is awesome if people respect the course. “R&A Rule 1.2” refers to respect for the game, players and COURSE. A couple of the tee boxes you were hitting of is evident that people don’t care. Where to drive, how to rake bunkers, fill divots and repair pitch marks etc would be killer.
Even spend the first few hours of the day cruising around with the grounds staff and see what they have to do to keep shit going.

  3. What a nice guy Greg seems. His knowledge of the game and his game itself are good. Interesting listening to his stories and views on the game. Great watch, thanks Mazzy. ⛳️👍

  4. The moment Maz pulled up to him, his eyes 👀 dropped. It took a few seconds, but he collected himself gained eye contact 😂

  5. Immediate observation from the west coast. I love these east coast courses, hate the east coast weather. Haha. 😂

  6. He was horrible. His long drawn out blathering. The last dude with the man bun was cool. He just didn't have the game

  7. Poor maz would play so much better without those giant melons between her arms.. they get right in the way and we all don't mind at all

  8. Mazz, this was such a great vid.. Greg had such positivity going on. Keep up the great work, hope to see ya one day at Steele Canyon while I’m practicing 🏌🏻‍♂️

  9. Mazzy, i'm a Senior 60 + been told I'm creepy, but when I've asked what makes them say that… " It's your age!" What do you think that means?

  10. Really entertaining match, I liked that you really picked his brain about rules of the game, it really shows you are serious about learning competitive tournament golf

  11. Just as nature abhors a vacuum this guy abhors a silence. As my old granny used to say – he can talk the hind legs off a donkey 🫏

  12. Good business model here, congrats! A beautiful funny buxom woman approaches guys in the parking lot to play a round of well played golf What could be better? 😅

  13. I have to tell you thank you for my new dog. L.A.B. woof woof ! I got your putter and changed my grip to like yours . i went from 38-43 putts to 28. 'O my, it really works . more 1 putts & no 3 putts now. THANKS AGAIN.
