NEW YORK — The Columbia men’s golf team and Director of Golf Rich Mueller officially introduced three newcomers to the 2025-26 roster on Thursday. Joining the Lions are first-years Alejandro Formosa, Sam Johnson and Neil Kulkarni.

Alejandro Formosa – CC – San Mateo, Calif. / Hillsdale

Sam Johnson – CC – Brentwood, Tenn. / Brentwood
Prior to Columbia: Four-year member of the Brentwood High School boys varsity golf team … Also competed in lacrosse through 2021 … Three-year golf captain … Helped Brentwood to three Class AA Tennessee State Championships … Individual Regional Champion in 2023 … Named the 2024 Williamson County Golfer of the Year … Graduated summa cum laude … Member of the National Honors Society … Also competed in AJGA events, Sneds Tour (Tennessee’s Junior Golf Tour), Tennessee PGA and Tennessee Golf Association (TGA).
Neil Kulkarni – CC – Ashburn, Va. / Independence
Prior to Columbia: Four-year member of the boys varsity golf team at Independence High School in Ashburn, Virginia … Three-time First Team All-State … Three-time Washington Post All-Met First Team … Helped Independence to four straight Virginia Class 5 state championships … Three-time individual state championship runner-up … Took third at the 2024 Mid Atlantic Junior Invitational … Finished 17th out of 120 at the 118th Middle Atlantic Amateur at Columbia Country Club … Qualified for the 2024 U.S. Junior Amateur, missing match play by one stroke … T-9 at the VSGA Junior Stroke Play at the Federal Club … Qualified for the Virginia State Amateur at the Piedmont Club … Top 15 at the 2023 VSGA Junior Stroke Play … Third at the 2023 AJGA Penn State with scores of 67, 71 and 69 … Member of the German Honor Society.
