A website that tracks President Donald Trump’s golf outings is taking a stand against what it claims is a lack of transparency from the Trump administration regarding the president’s health.
DidTrumpGolfToday.com announced it will no longer rely on the president’s official schedule to log his golf days, but instead will only update when there is a confirmed public sighting of him on the course.
“Until further notice, golf days will not be updated unless a confirmed sighting of Trump on the gold course occurs,” the website reads. “The Trump administration is actively narrative crafting information to hide Trump’s declining health including his published schedule to discourage media questions.”
The website’s decision comes amid persistent public concern and speculation about the president’s well-being.
A recent YouGov poll conducted on Sept. 2 reports that around half (49%) of Americans believe that the president has been vague when it comes to revealing information about his health, fueling ongoing rumors.
Particularly around Labor Day weekend, when the president was out of the public eye for three days, prompting rumors that he was either seriously ill or dead, according to USA Today.
He combated these rumors by golfing on Saturday at the Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Virginia.
The website’s purpose is to report on Trump’s golf outings while updating the estimated total taxpayer cost.
Based on a 2019 government report, the website estimates that the cost of Trump’s golf expeditions is at $77 million.
The president has golfed on 55 out of the 228 days in office. This accounts for 24.1% of Trump’s time since the start of his second term.
