And we are back. Lots going on this week in the world of golf. Ryder Cup picks are in. Teams are set. Everything is good for Bet Paige Black. But we have a few events to look forward to. And most notably here on the Emerald Ale this week, we have the Irish Open taking place at the K Club from Thursday. So, I’m going to be talking a little bit about that in a couple of minutes time, who I’ve picked, um the course setup, what’s going on down at the K Club and whatnot. So yeah, I just want to just touch back obviously on the RDER Cup quickly. Um, no surprises with with team Europe. I think everyone’s been pretty much um not shocked at all what’s gone on there. Totally expected picks. I would have liked to seen one or two other changes. Um maybe just the one. As I said, I think Matt Fitzpatrick was was pretty lucky in my opinion. I know we did finish the season pretty strong. and had a good showing at the Omega European Masters last week. But in terms of um just refreshing it up, I think for Europe would have been nice just to have maybe one more change. I know obviously we have Raasmus in for Nikolai. Um Hogard is the only change to the team. That’s it. But I would like to see Harry Hall come in just for that consistency he’s shown all season. A little bit something extra, a little bit more bite. Um Mafitz Patrick’s record is very poor in the Ryder Cup as well. 17 and zero. So I think that’s something you know a lot of so I think I saw I’ll try and pull it up here Pablo La Lathabel um he was formerly of Liv is obviously back in the uh European tour wasn’t best pleased with um the picks. There was a a little bit you’re always going to get that from some players. He wasn’t best pleased with um the picks Luke Donald made. I’m just going to pull that up here. Um basically commented uh there you go. You see it there yourself. um team will go the best whatever Luke zero players in the schedule but like I I don’t really understand that from from him like it’s hardly shocking the picks not shocking at all I would have liked to seen one as I said but like this sort of talk is is is pretty mental and the other one I have to sort of touch back on as well was also um Sergio Garcia came out last night and basically said he thought he was getting picked and that’s why he pulled of the Irish Open. Sorry, Sergio. All great respect to you. You’re a Ryder Cup legend. I know you you hold the most wins, all that, but in what right mind do you think you were you were going to be picked this year? There was three or four guys in my opinion easily ahead of him in the pecking order. We can name them right now. Marco Penge, Harry Hall, um, and obviously Matt Matt Wallace. So, I I find that’s kind of baffling that he’s used as an excuse to pull out of the Irish Open this week. Said his head wasn’t right after learning the picks and he wasn’t involved in the squad. So, in my opinion, okay, Grant, you’re not you’re not playing the Irish Open. Disappointing. Would have liked to to seen him obviously compete in in the field this week, but he’s not. But I I I just find that a baffling um line of talk from Sergio Garcia heading in to uh the Irish Open this week. And yeah, know very disappointing as well, I have to say. Rais Hogart, it sort of demeans the championship. Um him obviously pulling out as well, the the reigning champion, their defending champion, supposed to be defending champion. He’s obviously out of the field as well. Disappointing. And as I’ve talked about, I’d love to see the Irish Open. You know, there’s obviously been sponsorship issues over the years. The purse is is is got back to a very reasonable level at the moment, but it used to be half this even three or four years ago. So, Amjen have done a great job and sort of rejuvenating the Irish Open. But it’s it’s really is shameful considering the amount of amazing Parkland golf courses and amazing links course we have in this country. And I know there there’s been that debate between um if you’re not aware of it in Ireland there’s been a debate between um the Lynx courses and the Parkland courses hosting it because let’s be quite frank about it. Some of the Lynx courses around the country they charge extortion of prices. They outpriced their locals from playing um on their courses. And yeah, it probably is rightly so that we see more Parkland because they’re they’re way more affordable to play. Um, if you’re just a passive player, it’s literally half a quarter of the price to to go along and play one of the the Parkland courses and their top top quality course. I played uh the the K Club uh where the Irish Open is this week. Man, it would be great to see a country with so many amazing golf courses have their open championship, you know, in the middle of the summer before the Open. And um I think it should be you know if I know there was for a fact I know there was efforts number of years ago to get a co- sanction before the open like the Scottish Open is. So you’d have the PGA Tour and the TP World Tour uh co- sanction it effectively and you’re going to attract obviously a better field a better purse all that and you know it is a shame I think it should be before the RDER Cup as well and before the open but that’s not here nor there at the moment. I think you obviously need to attract the the best sponsors in the world and that hasn’t been the case in the last number of years uh with Irish golf but to be fair a really good feel this week. So um I’m I’m massively looking forward to it going to get stuck into some chat on that now. Um do get your comments in anything like that you want me to talk about. Do subscribe if you’re getting um any value out of the show. Uh loads coming up as well obviously with the Ryder Cup in a few weeks time. I’m trying to organize a few things um to speak to a number of people about with um bet page. Like what is it now? It’s so close, guys. I can’t I stop. But it’s so close. It’s coming up right around the corner. So, yeah, going to be focusing on that a lot. But the focus now um that we’re going to be looking at is obviously the Irish Open. H Okay, let’s talk a little bit about the course. Had numerous um European opens here in the ‘9s to the thousands. I was at a number of them. I was actually at the Ryder Cup as well when it was was there at the K Club on the North Palmer course which is the more prestigious of the of the two. Last Irish Open here was 2023 Vincent Norman won and before that was 2016 when Rory won. Um 700 7,441 yards, four par fives, uh 10 par fours and four par threes. Parkland as I said if you’re American and tuning in. Um but but the thing here this week with the course and I know it’s it’s very generic. You have to obviously be accurate because the roof is very painal this year. It’s going to be really long, hard to get out of and the weather conditions are going to be really really um important I think here this week. It’s been very blustery. It’s going to remain blustery this week. There’s going to be rain um spells as per usual with with sun. So I think it could be very much a horses for courses track who’s gone well here in the past and we obviously always say that but I think more so than this week with the weather around with the RDER Cup coming up I think we’ll see some of the RDER Cup stars uh really trying and and get knocking towards their prime this week um in how they approach uh you know getting the mindset right for B page all that B page can’t really get in my head at the moment but yeah Uh yeah, let’s get let’s get into it. First of all, I am going to go um and talk about my picks, who I’m going to go with this week. I have the tea times there in the bottom as well if you want to have a check them out. Um some really good groupings. Roy Mroy, sorry. Uh Shane Larry is going to be out with uh Brooks Kepka, which is really exciting. I like that a lot. Brooks is a guy obviously doesn’t play too many DP World Tour events. He’s this is his first time playing the Irish Open and he played in the DP World Tour. I think 2012 to 2014 didn’t play the Irish Open unfortunately but great to see him in action. Um Sergio as I said and Raasmas Hogar both pulled out. Pretty annoying. You have Patrick Reed in the field. Marco Pen, Shane Larry, Ryan Gerard, very good player in my opinion. Been very impressed with him since breaking through the season on the PJ tour. And you’ve you have Tier H Hotton as well from from Liv and Patrick Reed. So there’s yeah, there’s plenty uh of exciting players here in the field for the Irish crowd to get excited about and I think we’re going to have a really good fun tournament to watch this week. So yeah, okay, first of all, I’m going to go with Tier Latton this week. He is my out one and done pick. If I had anyone to pick this week, it would be Tier Latton. Had I had sort of a decent season on at Live Golf. H finished six last time out in Riad. Didn’t actually win this season. A couple of top fives I think was his best. uh like there’s no point really talking about top 20s and live because the fields aren’t that big. But he’s had a few top fives this season. Um I think it’s three top fives he’s had this season with Liv. But the interesting thing when Tieran Hatton tends to um play on um the GP World Tour events, obviously the Liv guys have to play on them because they need certain amount of events on their calendar to keep. Um, sorry, I’m just put on my uh MacBook two screen here. So, they need a number of events obviously to keep their GP world tour card for world ranking points. So, if you look at that, there’s the field this week. We have Rory’s obviously the highest ranked player, Shane, Larry, then Tier. And if you look at Tier’s, you know, obviously events he’s played outside of Liv, he he tends to play events and it’s obviously understandable wants to reduce his schedule. His schedule obviously is not heavy with Liv, but any European tour event he tends to play he I mark he he marks it very very clearly in order to give himself the best chance to win. So he doesn’t actually have to play as many events as he does and he generally finishes very well. Look at this here. Okay. So, obviously taking away the major championships there, first three. Uh, hero Dubai as a classic back in January won that. Um, you go back down here uh Saudi uh the the PIF Saudi Open fifth, DP World Championship sixth. Could have won that second at the HSBC offer Dunh Hill links first. The other two obviously not so good, but that’s what you’re looking at I think with Terl Hotton. He’s he’s iron marked this going right I know the Ryder Cup’s coming up and all he he want to play more golf and practice but this is probably one of the events he needs on this uh to play on his schedule to to keep you have to play a certain amount of events as I said on the season same as Brooks Kepka um Brooks obviously doesn’t need cuz he’s a you know he’s he’s a major winner and Patrick Reed is obviously doing the same you have to play certain amount of events to keep your card in order to get the odd bit of world ranking points cuz obviously live does not award world ranking points and to keep the card. So, I’m liking Terrell this week. Um, you’re going to get him. I think he’s coming in at um on the on the exchange you’re looking at here 17.5, which is bite my hand off now. I I’ll take that. And then if you go on the sports book, you’re going to get uh 12 to1. So, five five quid difference between the two. And I think if you look at what Tier as I’ve explained there going into everything that Tier will will be in contention and he also he finished here where was he missed the cut last time. He missed the cut in 2023 if I’m if I’m not mistaken. I’m pretty sure he missed the cut but he was finished third in 2016. Okay. Right. I can’t find it there. He finished third in 2016. Um, so yeah, I’m liking Terrell this week. Far different golfer. Um, ever evolving Teron. Just love watching the guy play. Fiery and I think that is probably the value better of the week. I I do like Marroy as well. Obviously winner here in 2016. Found a little bit of form. Found something good as he said last week or not last week, two weeks ago got the tour championship in the final round. He liked the way he was playing and that’s a good sign for him coming into the RDER Cup and and and generally he obviously does play this course pretty well. So Rory, but you look you just are you going to back Rory at seven to two? No, not for me. Like I just don’t get it. Uh I think it’s way too short. Could easily win. He he will be in my top six picks to win, but I just don’t like the odds this week. I will not be having a pump. But yes, obviously very good. um prospect to win this week. I do like Patrick Reed as well. I think um had a solid season on live. I think he finished seventh in the overall standings. Great ball striker. Um really just solid everywhere. Great short game and I think his accuracy so so good with his iron, so good with his short game. Um that he’s going to be knocking on the door this week. Do I like the price? 20 to1. It’s okay. It’s not too bad. You get them 20 to1 on the sports book and you get them a little bit better like uh 39’s I think on the exchange. So yeah, like I think it is worth an eachway point. I’d probably go on the exch on the sports book before we’ll go on the exchange with that on an eachway, but I think he could be uh knocking on the door. And another obvious one I probably just named all them there a few minutes ago. Marco Pench um really just come into his own this season. shot some unbelievable rounds in the DP World Tour. Six sec second in the race by rankings. Seems to be in contention most weeks. I think next year is going to be a massive year for him. Probably going to go on the uh PGA Tour next season. And if you look at this guy and in what he offers, what he brings, it’s just again solid all round game. And I think you’re you’ll get a you’ll get a much maybe healthier price on Marco P. Oh, only only 16 to1. H I do like that. I think he’s going to be knocking on the door come Sunday. uh here in Ireland. Um it’s phenomenal talent. I really like this guy. He can go out and blitz like a 10 under round and and and look unaffected. So I do like um that as a as as a price. Um I have to say, but as I said, I think I’m my one and done definitely this week is going to be T the Mor look and analyze and break down what we’re uh what we’re going with here. Shane Larry, another one. Not a great price. Again, I think you could maybe maybe dismiss it maybe bas based on the value. 14 to1 doesn’t really cut the most for me here. I think you should be a little bit deeper. I know the field isn’t the deepest in the world, but you’re looking at a price at 15 to1. Could very well be in the mix. Finished third here, I believe, in 2023. Um, just going to pull that up there. Yes, Shane did finish third in 2023. Uh, sorry. There we go. Um, obviously Vincent Norman won. Hurley Long, Ryan Fox was there. He’s not playing this week. Thirst Lawrence um is not playing after his win last week in the Omega European Masters. But yeah, like 12 under he finished there last time. Um, two off the lead. Definitely worth a punt. Am I all over? No, because Shane’s form has been so erratic the last number of months of the season. um did to be fair did find some form in the over the weekend at East Lake and you know he’ll be hoping to bring that in here at the Irish Open but do I see him win it? Yeah, yes I can. Um but sometimes I think this part um this sort of quarter of the year Shane has has been a little bit up and down and and just obviously was probably always going to get a rider cup pick as we talked about but what what hasn’t been too impressive in the in the closing stages on the PJ tour season but be looking like Rory Mroy like Tatton to find that form this week and I think we’re probably going to see one of those guys win. Did I mention this earlier on there hasn’t been a winner of the Irish Open? um from the UK and Ireland over six years. So I think this that could change this week. That’s that if um my picks are to go off. We’ve had a really good year of picks as well, I have to say. I think I’ve won about eight times. Um which has been pretty unbelievable. And if if I’m not doing a podcast, I am going to start doing them more regularly. Uh you can follow me on Twitter at NYGRA4. Uh Instagram the same. So get involved. I always post them there. and and and I am going to next season especially, we’re going to be doing content every week, every event. Um, and really sort of more databased stuff in terms of the selections and what selections are winning. I must actually pull them all up on Twitter. It’ll just take so long to do it and see um how many we did get this year. I think it was eight, but uh we’ll talk about. So, my next pick this week, I think one to look out for is Ryan Jared. fantastic player, really um impressive season last year. One at the Barracuda, recorded five top 25s and two top 10s, including a runner up at the Valero Texas Open. You’re going to get Ryan at a lot better price here. I know it’s, you know, he’s really good, Paul’s Ben Griffin, and he’s a guy that um is just such a talented golfer. I think if he keeps the ball in the fairway, solid all over irons, good putter, he can get in contention here. And like he’s not coming over for the good of his health. He’s coming over here to have a a crack at this these American guys. So he’s like 90 to1. You’re going to get Ryan Jared at this week. That’s that’s pretty crazy odds. That’s on the exchange on the sports book. I’m just pulling up now here what you’re going to get him at. Probably about half that price, I would imagine. Um yeah, 60 to1 on the exchange. like we’re at the five or each way there I think at 60 to1 on the sports book. Um just a really talented guy comes from um that stable of where Ben Griff and all the boys went to college. I think it was George I’m not even sure where where they went to college but incredibly talented guy. I think we’re going to see a lot more from him next year on the u PGA tour after his breakthrough win at the Barracuda. Other names I think you got to throw in there. You got to have a look at Brookxie. Anytime Brooks Kevka on a limited field is at 85 to1 I’ll be having a little play. I don’t care what anyone says. Not shown amazing form being really poor and live this year. But if you look back again I said this this is why I thought maybe he might have got a pit pick for B Page because of performance at B Page in 2019. Obviously winning there but more recently he played Oakmont and he finished what tied 12th at Oakmont at the US Open this year. One of the most difficult tracks ever. So if Brooks is on it like I think 85 to1 Brooks isn’t coming over to just have an off week. I saw he was working really hard on the range with Pete K doing a lot of work this week. I think he got in on Monday and was out to the course um I think the same afternoon if I’m not mistaken. If look at the DP World Tours social media feed you’ll see it there. But I think that’s a really good price. You know Brooks keeps it on the fairway. um can get his iron player going. We know how good he is around the greens. Five-time major winner at 85 to1 on a you know a field that only has what? Let’s have a look at the field. What’s the field actually have in terms of it’s like you know Shane Larry’s world number 23 three Rory Maroy is world number two and they’re the top two on the world rankings list coming into this week. So, oh T Lawrence is playing actually sorry I beg your pardon. Um but yeah, no I I do like uh Brooks as an outside pick just from in terms of the value I think is absolutely stop cursing. But yeah, that there are my picks to be but if I am going to go and I have to say it is it is Ty. Tier always starts coming in playing well before Ryder Cups. We’ve seen it the last two times. He starts bubbling, starts getting hot and I think on a course that he’s finished third on before you’re going to see a fiery Tier Hatton and I think Tier could that could be come I know it’s not the biggest prize anywhere but I think it could be a big price come come obvious thing to say but I do like I think there’s some other really good eachway bets as I mentioned there if you go further down the field as well. Um, Alex Fitzpatrick, you look 90 to1. Um, Matthew Jordan. There we go. I actually like Matthew Jordan. 100 to1. That’s a good outside bet in my opinion. Kido Migliatsi did okay here, I believe, in 2023. I think he finished at eighth or ninth or maybe a little bit further back on 800. Let’s try and pull that up here. Um, so yeah, there is there’s definitely value to be had there this week. There’s going to going to be a few sneaky players here that are going to try and get in. Um, where did Gido finish there? That was 2020. That was 2016. So, Gido finished. Let’s have a little look here. Yeah, there we go. Nine under par, five behind off the lead. Doesn’t have great form this year, but I think, as I said, I think it’s a horses for courses track um that you could get some some good value bets on this week. And I do like the ones I’ve mentioned. As I said, I did do a piece on that uh on the sun. Um Patton, Maroy, Reed, Penge, Larry, and Gerard. As I said, the course of 7,441 Parkland. Beautiful track. House of the Ryder Cup. Whatever year, what year was that? 20 2010 2010, I can’t even remember. But it was incredible scenes down there in Straen in County there. The prom is going on this afternoon. But I think we’re really um there is a there is a buzz around the Irish Open this year compared to previous years where it’s been sort of flown under the radar a little bit disappointed as I said with the two boys pulling out. Um just you know the Sergio Garcia excuse didn’t cut it for me. I like no offense Sergio but I don’t think you were ever I don’t think he was ever getting picked for that Rder Cup team. Um yeah I just thought it was it was a bit odd to to use that as an excuse. That interview was with Golf Magic, by the way. So, you’re free to check that out um with Sergio Garcia. So, yeah, I think we’re going to be back a lot in the next few weeks to talk obviously about the RDER Cup and whatnot, everything else that’s going on in the buildup to it. Uh I’m going to try this. I’m working on a couple of things that we’re going to get done before it. Uh I’m going to be in Spain for it, but I’m going to be going to be playing golf over there. So, I’ll be I’ll jump be jumping on doing live streams, any sort of alerts, breaking news. So yeah, if you want to hit me up, uh do subscribe to the channel if you’re getting value out of it. Do hit the notification button does help. Uh been a massive response to some of the videos so far. So really appreciate that. Uh on socials, Nile McGrath 4 on Instagram and Twitter. So yeah, um I think that is pretty much it now. Yeah, do go check out if you want my I I I’m going to do more detailed reaction in terms of how I felt about um some of the picks and obviously more buildup as I said in the coming weeks to the RDER Cup. But um yeah, listen, enjoy the Irish Open this week. I think it’s going to be a really, really good one. One of the best we’ve had in a number of years. So from Nim McGra it is. Good luck and good night. Cheers, guys. All right. All right. All right.
