In this rally, look at how Shi Yu Qi uses his stop drops to set himself up to attack. Sometimes when setting up for an overhead, with the same exact set up as you would for a smash, instead hit a stop drop where you swing but stop right when you contact the bird, creating a loopier shot that typically shocks your opponent and catches them off guard. The drop doesn’t have to be perfect and super close to the net, but if the motion looks good, it will most likely trick your opponent, and potentially set up a better chance to attack!
