[Music] Hello and welcome to another Gomez practice round. We are here in Milford, Michigan for the 2025 Dlo. We’ve got an Elite Series Plus this week. Four rounds. Germ yours. Toboggins. Toboggins. Four rounds. Brutal. Bring your ski poles because this place is a full-on trek built for the younger people. Yeah. Like us. like us. Hey, hurt my knee. No, don’t no laughing. Laughing. Who’s laughing? Paul, me. The people that came out here this morning. That’s right. We’ve got a huge audience here. Milford, Michigan. Make some noise, guys. Yeah, that’s big. That sounds nice. This is a big one, guys. We got I think the second most people we’ve had all year out here live. We’re going to do another one of these confirmed in Vermont for the first playoff event. still waiting to see about MVP, but maybe there too. So, if you’re in the Vermont area and want to check out the Gemma’s practice round, go ahead and check out those uh that website right there. Thank you editors for editing that website. Yeah, there you go. We’ve got a guest. We do. You want to intro? You want me to intro? You want me to intro? I don’t talk much. All right. This guy has been absolutely shredding lately. He’s been shredding for a few years. Coming back from an injury, he’s coming back better than ever. Yep. Freshly married man. Let’s bring in Raven Newsome. Thank you. Thank you. What’s up, guys? What’s up, baby? Good to see you. First time on the show. Yeah. Good to see you. You, too. Thank you. What’s going on, dude? What got into you? Yeah. What’s gotten into you? Well, I’m not uh injured anymore. Um, so that’s Yeah. Yeah. And then, uh, that’s a good point. And then Sarah and I got married, so we were all stressed about the wedding for a little bit this off this season. Yeah. Yeah. So, that was really cool. And then I had like um in my offseason I put in like a bunch of work. I added like a ton of distance. Uh so I added like 75 ft in distance. And then as soon as I started on tour like all the landing zones were easier. So I just started playing like a lot more aggressive and I was like oh. And then now I’ve chilled out a little bit more and I remembered how to play golf. So that’s helping a little bit too. Awesome. Well, you know the deal. Today we are going to do triples here at the Tobogans. We are going to rely on each other. We’re going to shoot four under. We’re gonna shoot four, maybe five under. Yeah. On the front. Yeah. We’re We’re gonna we’re gonna try to go go as low as possible. This is my last round of the week. I’m doing DGN, but these guys are going to be preparing for the week. So, any extra shots that you guys need to throw to warm up, go ahead. Feel comfortable doing that. Um, we do not have a disc to give away this week. Instead, we are going to give away a nice little whale sack with a the two hot geese honk on it. We’re going to give that to Raven to use whenever he needs to keep his hands dry. Perfect. Um, so we’re going to sign that. We’re going to give that away in the Joe Pro Patreon. Thanks for subscribing to that one more time. All right, let’s get to it. All right, want to practice? Sure. Yeah, let’s do it. Let’s practice. Sweet. Yeah, you can’t throw. You can dance. [Music] Okay, hole one is iconic out here at the Kensington Debogen course. We have 516 ft par three, blind to the left, uh forehand for a lot of the big forehand players, backhand turnover for a lot of others. There’s an OB left and OB right by the pin. Um, it says 60 feet of elevation on the tee. That is incorrect. It’s I think it’s a closer to like 90 feet of elevation. It’s a huge drop, but if I’m wrong, then oh well. Either way, big forehand, I think, for everyone. Paul’s going to go back in. Let’s do it. I’m going to I’m going to actually lay it up in the turnney, but Are you really? Yeah. All right, we’ll send it. I did last I I wasn’t here last year. I’ll go first though. You weren’t here last year? No. Injured. Oh, you you did commentary though. Yeah, I did. Yeah, you weren’t playing though. No, I didn’t even do that. I don’t think I had a new I had a new baby. Oh, I had a new baby. You had a new baby. She just turned one. She just did. Congratulations to Raina. Woohoo. And you guys picking up the cues. I know. Okay, this could I might park that hole. I’m guessing. Yeah. Oh, that’s our triples partner. Yules. That’s OB by 100 miles. Oh, it’s going left, isn’t it? Yeah. Yeah. Dang it. Maybe Maybe you’re in that little pocket. No. All right. Yeah, that’s You’re absolutely right. That is not in the pocket. No, it’s not in the pocket. Here, I’ll give you I’ll give you something to go for. Thank you. Yep. Thanks. I was initially thinking I was going to go backhand actually on this one. Oh, I know. Isn’t that crazy? But I was actually thinking that. Maybe. Maybe. Don’t. Have you tried these? No, not yet. Let me just go again and free you two up. I’ll put this one real close. All right. Two in a row. Go for it. Perfect. Free you up. Great. I can’t let that be the deciding factor for me. That thing is soaked now. There we go. That’s 100 miles out of bounds. We are freed up to still play disc golf. That’s all you guys. That’s as free as you could be. That’s kind of crushed though, bro. Dude, that’s out there. Lead that back. All right. Hey, will you hold this? Yeah. It doesn’t get all soaked like that one. What a dummy. What are you guys doing? You did that. Whoa. What are these guys doing? What are these guys doing? There’s a truck down there. Should we worry about hitting where are we going to hit it? Am I Could I hit it? Do you go? That’s That’s a good layup. This is my first shot on this course this year, though, so I have no idea. Rip it. Yeah, I’m going to throw it farther than I think. How short How short was that? That was like 60 100. Okay. 100. Jeez. We do uh six trips. Okay. 100. And it’s in C2. How going to be both? Jeez. That’s it. Yeah. Getting a flat’s key. Yeah. That’s a 78footer. Yeah. It’s not good. What? Here. You want Is that good? Okay. Yeah. You liked it? I Hey, man. Don’t judge it. They really like it. They’ll knock it until they get up there. They have Do I need to go farther this way? I’m going to I’m going to go farther. I’m going to go. Extremely. What’s the distance? Hey, I got a I got a guest that’s going to throw real quick. What’s that? Oh, he just put a heat with a heat. Yeah, you guys. All right. Very, very flippy. This guy does more for charity and disc golf than anyone in the history of the sport. Watch this, guys. Here we go. Yes. Oh my god. I told you. I tried to warn you. That was good shot. Good shot. Better than mine. Way to get it out there. Tie your head. Shame. You weren’t You weren’t expecting this. You stepped up and threw. I appreciate the courage. Just rip this one like a I’m going to rip it. Flip up. Out of bounds is fine as long as you throw it hard. Yeah. Yes. You asked me to go out of bounds. Paul, that’s just fine. I delivered almost. Nope. Save. My goodness. Those are Yeah, this is going to be a round, huh? Jeez. All right. I’ll wake up. Yeah. Okay. Got it. That’s actually something. Nope. No. Dang it. Not. Oh, we’re cooked. Oh, that one that one’s worse than my first. Hey, no, you you contributed in a big way. Well, I think we’re putting so we got that going for us. That’s why I’m laying up. I appreciate you guys throwing really bad ones to make me look good. I feel like that’s what we do, man. It’s all about boosting up our guest. I feel like if I Those are both mayhem inbounds on this hole. It’s a win. Oh dear. What’s changed in your philosophy? Just the OB lines. Yeah. Oh, the fact that there’s OB, right? Yeah. Yeah. That that that added a big dynamic of this whole Yeah. I will never throw you like throw it into that junk to 28 ft, which is incredible for this and be out of bounds. Yeah, that’s correct. Yeah, man. I honestly am cool with taking like a 45 footer on this one. I think that it’s one that you can like totally get yourself into some weird trouble with. I actually play that. Well, I can get closer, but if I play to 45 and then I miss a little right, it’s great. Yeah, this is a this is a hole for the guys who are throwing 450 flat ground hisers that are just having a field day on this hole. Had enough on it. Wasn’t short. I was very You want me to get it low? That’s not too much better. That was close. It was better, but it wasn’t too much better. Yeah. Acceptable, man. To at least say that that was a Okay. Semi-professional bid. Ravenhood. No. A little. All right. One more for fun. That’s it. Oh, close. Dang. He’s been online, though. First putts. First putts. Sorry. Oh, wait. I forgot the first part. I appreciate that. At least I Are we going to do the new guy? What’s that? The new pins. All new pins today. Don’t be getting my disc more wet. I think that’s probably probably right. Yeah, it is. Thank you. Appreciate it. Uh, good start. Good start. Parts are good. What do we have? We have a We got a new T on 15. I know. We have new pin positions all over the place. Like this one. Really? Yeah. Yeah. I think we showed stuff that we’ve never shown before. Don’t you think? I think that’s right. Yeah. All right. That’s news to me. I just I All I knew about was there was a new teapad on 15. Hole two is a new pin position. I’m not sure the distance. I’ll say 550. I think it’s a little shorter than the one up top. Uh drive wants to be left side. Left side as far as you can without being in the woods. And then it’s a big turnover or a really tight sidearm to get to the bucket around the corner into the woods um on that right side wood line. So pretty interesting hole. Played it yesterday. It’s really good. You did play it yesterday. I did. Okay. All right. Yeah. Just be left side, not in the woods. Just be left side, not in the woods, like I had mentioned in the little thing I did. Yeah. So left side and in the not in the woods. Yeah. Yeah. Got it. Please flip. Please flip. Oh, that’s Yeah, we’re we’re loving life. We’re kind of cooked now. What? Really? Just got in the rough a little bit. Yeah, we’re buried. Buried. That’s a great buried in the rough. Okay, so just try and get a little farther than that and it’s good. Yeah, please. We like that. Anything by there, even shorter and left just on the fairways. money. Rave hold. Rave hold. Oh, hold the line. That’s better than germs, honestly. Wow. How in the world is that better than I’m kidding? First back. Nice. Yules. It up. So, that one. All right. Come on. Get some legs. That’s money. All right. Okay. Okay. Okay. I figured it out. I don’t know, though. That’s good. Cuz that’s going to have that little No, that’s literally couldn’t drop it in a better spot. Yeah. Right. How far How far is it from the basket from there? Uh 300 ft. Okay. It’s not so bad. Not maybe in distance like 260. Is it like still uphill? It’s just a little bit. It’s just a tight like really tight Annie from there. Okay. Like if I could drop my for how far I throw, drop my disc right there every time, I’d love my life. But if in theory, if you could throw it like 40t farther, would that be better? Cuz it makes that angle worse. Okay. Yeah. But then you’re getting tight on these branches and you’re bringing the See how I’m like just short of the wood line kind of out on the left? Yeah. Plung twister. It’s just no. I don’t care where they put That’s a clunky twin twister. Wherever they put the pin here, it’s always going to be tricky because the runup’s super important on this. Yeah. So, see, well, just walk up here with me. I shall bring it. It’s hard for the sidearm cuz you got to like and it’s really tight. I’m also walking up with them, but thank you. Yeah. Scram, dude. Jeez. That guy right there. Oh, whoa. over a mound. Fun. With the mound in front of it. I know. Yeah. So, that big tree is a really good indicator. You want to go tight to that and those branches will kind of get you. Got it. Yeah. Okay. Wow. Okay. Cool. Yep. Yep. Yeah. Tough little cookie here. Yeah, dude. You’re right. The sidearm is is kind of funky. Tight. It’s like um I would want to do yours, but we got these bushies. But only thing I like about mine is the flat ground, but you’re right. This runup stinks. Honestly, this ground helps us turn it, too. If we’re throwing it back in, let’s take it. Let’s do my drive’s been the exact same height as last two. Take someone else’s shot. That’s a good Thanks. It’s a look. Oh, yeah. It’s just a long one. He kicked it forward. It’s all right. He kicked it forward. It’s all right. So, a little higher and a little better next time. That’d be good. Oh, boy. Yeah. Side. It’s real. Side is so harder for me. Yep. Oh my gosh. Okay. Somewhere in between ours is probably great. Do the sidearm and just get us a look. Closer than mine. Hold this. Yeah. I think full send at the big tree and you won’t get to it and it’ll go right in front of it. Yeah. On the the tight one. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, yeah. He knows. Hunky claw hopping style shot right here. Yes. Yeah, that’s fine. Go. We got a It’s a look. I like it. You’re on that mound. I bet it’s a look. It’s not great. Good. Good shot. Way to way to bring it in for the team. Yeah. Need to be a little higher. I needed to throw the Nate Hold Heath. Yeah, I like mine, but I just too turned. I think this too early in the morning for me. Yeah. This is an interesting hole. Yeah, I think it’s really nice nice distance is paramount as the whole course. That’s the theme of this course, right? The more distance you get, the better the softer angle you have to go. Right. Right. Paul’s right. Keeping it on that left side increases the angle. Yeah. Uh the likelihood of having a shot to get to the green. Ow. Yeah. Is that yours? Yeah. No, we’ll take yours. It’s a better lie. Oh, no. It’s okay. It’s okay. Hey, I thought you guys were better than this. This is just going to be a theme today. This is This is the goal. I’m in a slightly worse spot. Same distance swing. I don’t need to anchor. I missed. Almost. You think this for a perfect triple? Yeah, it made it my jump forward a little weird. Oh boy. It’s just still going. not unattached. Leave it there. That does make it a little easier though. Now he’s going to literally jump butt and trip on it for the perfect triples hole. Y perfect. Perfect. What? How did that not do the thing? It was a pixel. Just glides forever. It’s so glidy. Yeah. Sucks. You’re so nice start, guys. Oh boy. That’s never happened before. That’s a tough hole. I’m not gonna I’m not even that upset about it. Playing it for the first time. It’s a backhand. Like you have to have so much distance off the tea to get the forehand into that into that green. Or you just got to have something more than I’ve got. That’s for sure. Cuz that’s massive. So this this is hole three. OB left, OB right. This is a really daunting T-ot, but if you throw it far on the T-OT and inbounds, you’re kind of golden. Um, so your goal is backhand off the tee with a little bit of turn and finish or a forehand that you can punch to like 400 410. Um, and then you’re looking to get a pretty simple upshot. It is wide open on the green, but there’s OB on both sides. So, the farther up your T-shot you can get, the closer you’re going to be able to uh stick your upshot. This one is a birdie you want to get, but you can also let slip really quickly. So, it’s all about the T-OT and then give your upshot as simple as possible. I’m gonna go backhand. All right, sweet. You’re taking it? Yeah. Oh, yeah. Rip it up, buddy. Cool. Do it. We need an eagle cuz we’re two over. Oh, that would be fun. We need two eagles. We need six. That would be great. Six eagles. Of course, you’d never get eagles. That would be incredible. Yeah, dude. I don’t need to throw. Announce what you were throwing. Boost, baby. Wow. What was it? It’s a boost. Oh, that’s actually kind of bad. Boost. No, it’s not on the top of that hill. It’s a forehand eiser from there. What are you talking down? Yeah. You going to do your thing so I can do mine? You can act like that. You love it there. All you want. I do love forehand. All right. Guess I’m going. Sweet. I’ll just park it, dude. That’s why communication. I’ll park it. You don’t worry about me, dude. Is that going to Yeah, it’s a trail. It’s going to flip more. Oh, yeah. Just fight it. Is that OB? Fight it. Fight it. Go OB. Go OB. Yeah. Yeah. Beautiful. Nice shot. Very pretty trail. And I And I’ll put you through trail. I threw a trail on the trail. That better be the flipp thing you’ve got in your bag. It’s pretty good. That is nice. Wow. Nice, dude. That’s That’s a good tournament play right there. Nice shot. Now Now I look weak. I put one in play for the birdie range and they’re just like, “Oh, just rip it.” This hole is very rarely not windy. Yeah, that’s true. Yeah, those things those shots were sweet, guys. If you are teeing off at 9:00 a.m. and avoiding the wind, you got other things you got to worry about. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, unless you’re first card off. I’ve been in my last three tournaments. You kind of put us in a bad spot. We weren’t going to be able to see the hill. Probably taking Paul’s dude was perfect. I think I think between the two of you guys is probably the number. Yeah, maybe 680. Beautiful drive, guys. Thanks. Thank you. Yeah, don’t give them credit for this one. Mine was like kind of better. It was all 673. Read them and wheat, Paul. Wow. Thank you. How far do we got to the basket? Like the important number. This one’s two years old right there. That’ll do it. Drop in it. Drop in it. Go. Okay. Well, that’s I’m going to try and make it. What’s wrong with you? Was that not close? I think I hid it a little short. I’ll try and make it. Oh crap. Thanks, Germ. Yeah, I know, dude. My bad. Hey, here’s what you should look at. Hold on. looking the second flag. Yeah, a little left. Middle flag. It’s just like a foot left of it. All right. Say 215. 215 foot left to the second flag. That could do it. Oh, I hit it. Close. Nice try. Dialed in the settings, dude. Holy moly. Oh, yeah. Quick drop. Oh, I like it. Go. It’s not good. Go, Ryder. Ah. Close. We’re back. We’re warmed up now to warm up all of our throws. I’m listening to Brad when he said, “Dude, when you just step up and fire, you’re kind of the guy.” So, I’m like doing the whole you think long, you think wrong method. I was just talking about that yesterday and how silly it is. How how dumb is it? Talk to us about how dumb think long think wrong. Well, you need a routine. That’s if you’re if somehow you can get your mental state to a perfect spot and go really quick, that’s great. But then in a pressure situation when you when you’re like, “Wait, do I just go fast now?” Yeah. Oh, I got to rush it. It’s going to mess you up probably. Nice job. Who pinned it? It can start. That’s We got nine people. Someone else left one, I guess. Okay. Nice. Sick. Watch out, bro. Jeez. Oh, that’s none of you guys. Nope. Nope. That’s okay. You just We got another two-stroke penalty. I just It’s okay. Yeah. Nice. All right. Cool. Nice. You even got some hang time. You can put them out the ball. Yes. Feels like you miss a dunk and it bounce up and still winning. Yeah. You’re like, “Hey, counts as a dunk.” Mhm. Yeah. When you get like just a couple fingers over the rim, you hit it and it just bounces straight up. Yeah. Like a layup. Yeah. Oh, well. Yeah. Well, okay. Hole four, 580. Same hole as the past, we hope. Um, there are a few changes to this course. We’ll get to them as they occur. Uh but yeah, this is just one where you want to do one of two things. There’s a backdoor hiser route um that has a pretty narrow gap if you don’t if you want to go completely clean, but still a lot of players choose that route because it’s pretty open off the tea and even if you crash into some stuff, you’re falling to a pretty decent spot. The other option is the early line forehand turnover that has a little bit wider clean route and can get you farther up, but um you got to get the angle perfect for it to be a good shot. Yeah. But it should be a birdie that everyone has marked down because this is one of the easier holds. This is like Yeah, I think it’s like third easiest or second easiest or something. You want to pick this one up? All right, I’ll I’ll go forehand first. I’ll try the the fun route. Okay, me too. Just put a little I like it, guys. Thanks for Yeah, let’s go. Good stuff. Hey, we’re under par. We’re under par. Can’t even say that we’re not even under park. By the rules, we’re we’re still one over. We’re three over somehow. Yep. Three up. Got to hold. Got to hold. Hit the tree and we’re good. Hit the tree and we’re good. That’s not good. Not good. The angle’s pretty bad from there. It’s all right. I’ll put I got to throw a little harder than that. That was pretty soft. That should be perfect. Is it? Yeah. Yeah, that’s a good spot. Low ceiling. Raven to be our freaking hero once again. Yeah. Don’t worry, guys. I’m on it. That’s better angle off the the get go. Oh yeah. Now sit. Sit. Boo boo. Nice. Yeah, we like that. Thank you. Good shot. Appreciate it. Got Raven. That’s crazy. They’re good people. The Carolinas don’t have a baseball team. What the heck? They are out in full force. What are you talking about? We got AAA teams like this. Awesome. Uptown Charlotte representing Triple A, baby. What are you being serious about, buddy? About that far. Nice. What’d you get, Brad? About about there. Nice. Sweep. All right, pre-run, guys. Come on. We’re sending. Okay, fellas. We’re sending. Thank you. Thanks for the number. Oh, yeah. Little little early, right? At least you got it up and stuff. I’m going for it. All right. Still learning, you know? Never stop learning. Just can’t. See, I like that he went driver cuz like why would I go mid-range? Oh gosh. Good shot. Why would I go approach shot? Yeah. Yeah. Kept the height up. Yeah, that’s what And you could have hit a branch. I went with a fireball just because you guys were all close. Normally I would throw a tempo or a pyro from but you went you went tempo right or hex. Yeah. No, I went tempo because I was still trying in my head. I’m still this distance and but the objective isn’t to throw this distance. Yeah. The objective is to have the right height. 60 ft past this basket is the idea here. And we had a little bit of a low ceiling. So it just with that slow disc, I don’t think I was ever going to get there. I’ve got nothing to play for this week. I am I am here for glory only. And then what are you glory for? Why would you ever have a mid-range or putter in your hand at all? I’ve got to break that mindset. I almost picked the 13 speed. Yeah, I got to break that mindset. I threw a 12 speed. Shoot. Yeah, you did. But it’s flippy and it’s like a control little guy. Yeah, it’s more of a fairway. All right. He’s too slow. Got him. Um, did I get all the way to that fairway? Oh, sweet. Even better. Hole five is a par three. It’s 480 ft. Beautiful little hole. Nice green grass that starts halfway down the fairway telling you exactly where you need to go. Big tree in the middle. You want to throw something with a little bit of heiser preferably to hit the gap because this tree on the left kind of blocks the nice little flex that you typically want. Have it late flip kind of where Josh is right there. Come back. Don’t hit the puffers. Skip up. You’re golden. The puffers. There’s a dog down there. There’s a puffer. If you have puffer. I don’t have good vision. Puffer. I got puffer fish. I want you guys to park it so I can try and move it. Yeah. There’s the hiser. There’s the late flip. This is everything I was talking about. This is exactly what you’re talking about. That’s so acceptable. That’s so acceptable. And a good kick. Great. So, super acceptable. Nice. That was awesome. That one, my dude. Well, I wasn’t sure what it was going to do off the log. Oh, okay. All right. How could I predict it was parked? Cuz it always bounces off the log. Always. I don’t know. It’s the first time I’m throwing back in. It’s like, uh, I don’t think so. Now we can totally do that. Yeah. Yeah. Missed that one tree that always. Yes. Nice shot. Thanks. Okay. Sweet. That’s awesome. All right. This is a Miracle flip right here. We need a miracle. Oh, I like it if it was higher. Damn it. It’s great. Acceptable. Acceptable. It didn’t hit the wall. Does anyone Yeah, but you knew it wasn’t high enough. You said it from this. Do you mind if I try? Throw as many as you’d like. You guys can throw, too, if you want. Throw as many as you like. Just kidding. Don’t do that. I am curious what the world record for largest disc golf group ever is though. We could break one of the We could break that record with one of these Jonas practice rounds. We could. Has there been a record set? 1.2 million people. One or two million people. Probably take mine. Go ahead. Pie. Let Let me take this backhand on this one. Let me see. I need to pop a couple putts. I have not putted at all except for the long guys. Are we waiting on the next hole anyways? Yeah. Look at you. Big strong guy. Thanks. All right, you’re getting picked. Here you go. Take this one. All right, you set the station. Here you go. You can use this. That’s scary. All right. Pick your spot. Okay. All right. Got this, dude. Let’s get it. [Applause] Yeah. Yeah. Yep. Okay. All right. Now, you get two putts. You didn’t know you get two putts. It’s okay. It’s okay. It’s okay. It’s a warm-up. It was a warm up. It was a warm up. Yeah. Yeah. Fast claps. Get it. Yeah. Nice job. Good putt. That was great. Yeah. Yeah. Nice. Give that man a slow miss. That would be sweet. All right. Um, there’s a couple of shot shapes on this one that you can throw. You can throw a backhand roller to cut. I think it’s the best shot for the hole. So, you’re trying to land it on this side of the hill, roll down and over into the ditch, and then take an up shot from there. You’ll see some people throw forehand hiser just to get to a landing zone, and then throw a flex forehand in. or you’ll see a late turning putter or mid-range backhand that kind of stalls out to set up for a forehand hiser or a backhand turnover. Um, but I already talked about the roller. Thanks, S. Yeah. Um, so I think the roller is the best play for the hole. I think that predictably you get it around the corner and moving forward, you’re going to give yourself a simple up shot if you get through the gap. All right, so is that what we’re all doing, dude? If you roll a bunch, you can hit berries and it’ll stain your disc. Oh, that’s true. All right. You want to go? It’s for you. Try to dye your discs the natural way, folks. Roll into berry bushes. I kind of love it. I definitely love it. If long as I miss that tree on the left. Yeah, that’s the main I love that. Yeah, that’s good. You want to go? We’re going to clap for that now. Yeah. Thank you. What are you rolling? Uh, I’m going to roll Crave. Okay. Let’s see what happens. It could be really good with that cut. How flippy? I don’t know. I don’t know. We’re going to find out. I don’t throw many rollers. We’re going to find out. Yeah, but it was a more aggressive line. Do you throw a roller, too? I sure am. Yeah. One of these three is going to be at least down the hill. The shot we take. Proven facts. So different. Each one of them was so different. There’s got to be a good one. I think that one’s gonna be great. That one’s gonna be great. I don’t know. I think you’re too far right. I think that one’s aggressive. Did you announce your disc? I didn’t hear you. What? Did you announce yours? No, that was a shift. A shift? A shift? Yeah. It’s a good one. It’s a St. Jude uh charity disc. So, the proceeds of it go to donating to St. Jude. So, I love it. We got it as a as a disc from MVP when they first came out. So, it’s been great. Ready. Nice. That’s a great Frisbee throw. Thank you. All right. Now, makepark.com or just make the park part. I’m going right at her, I think. Yeah. Give it a go. Why not? Yeah. Give her a little go. Try to hit Josh. Pull it a tad bit. Pretend it’s a putting game. He gets hit everyone. Gotcha. Oh my gosh. But I don’t want to hit him. It’s good thinking. But that’s his job. He has to stand in there and take it. No. If I hit him, I don’t make it. No. No. If you’re in route of hitting him, the chains are going to catch it and stop it. That’s silly, dude. I don’t believe that. That’s not the route that I was thinking of. Me neither. Sorry, Josh. Pulled her a little. Wow. The one route where you could actually still hit Josh and have no chance of going in. Incredible. Yeah. I was like, whoa. It had a kind of a chance with a little leaf hit. Did it? Heck yeah. No, it didn’t. I know. I’ll go right at it. This is the chance we’re talking about. Oh, good height. Little stable. No, it was a good height, though. Yeah. Here you go. Nice angle out of the hand. Just on the pro. Feels weird. I feel like I’m not really Yeah, I feel like I’m not really practicing. I’ve just been our runner. The one drawback of triples is that you’re playing a you’re playing an alternative style of a practice round. That’s why we like to we like to encourage second shots. Maybe not third or fourth or fifth, but like second shots as like a if I was in this position, what would I actually do in a tournament play? But that the first play, let’s run it. Okay. I like it. Then we can get But it’s okay if I throw a second. Is that what I’m hear? Absolutely. It’s a practice round. It also feels not like a practice round. No, I know. No, I get it. So, I just wanted to make sure that we’re that that’s okay. Somehow these people know that we’re going to be here at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesdays and they show up nowhere. Freaking embarrassing when you throw that shot. What do you mean? Why are you getting embarrassed? It’s dis golf. We’re all trying our best. Hole 7 667 foot par4. We have uh OB left and right keeping you up this fairway that goes down a valley and back up the hill. The landing zone is you really want to get to the flat. If you come up short of the top of the hill, your second shot is cut off so much due to the low ceiling and the rise of the hill that you your second shot gets really really tricky. So, very important you get to the top of the hill. If you’re left side or right side, you can either throw a forehand turnover or the backhand straight at it. But, um, yeah, this approach shot’s pretty tricky even if you’re only like the 260 range. So, it’s a par4 that I usually feel pretty good if I get, but a lot of players get this one pretty easy. I don’t know with that OB left. It’s tough. It’s harder now. Yeah, I’ve always found it to be kind of tough. It’s a little tricky. Well, it’s just when you usually there’s right to left win. So, just pull the turnover gets pulled to the right and then once it gets on hiser, you’re throwing fast. So, it’s skipping. Mhm. Even though I’ve never played it with the OB. Okay. The OB’s all new. I’ve been left a bunch. OB came in last year. Slightly. That’s not really That’s not enough to make a difference really. No. Let’s just trust it. Is it flipping? Yeah, it’s flipping perfectly, Paul. Yeah. Is it’ll be left? No, it’s right in the middle. No, but it skipped a little left. It’s going to be an awkward forehand or a hiser backand. I’ve been missing this disc my whole life. Seriously, trails are so good, man. So noted for me. Yeah, dude. When we made the detour, I aced with it like two days later and I immediately texted James and I was like, “Thank you.” That’s sweet. Yeah. Terry. Terry. Come on. Rothosberger. Yeah, buddy. Nice shot. Thank you. Be honest. The only reason you throw a disc because it’s Rothosberger, isn’t it? Yeah. Yep. Well, you got two Steelers quarterbacks on your disc. Terry Bradshaw and Ben Rothosberger. Mhm. Whoa. Great. Did you ever I like that play, buddy. Thank you. Yep. You ever made that uh connection before? No. Isn’t that crazy? I’m going to try one more if you guys don’t mind. Yeah. Still practice round. Remember, did you see the vandalism in Charlotte? I hate to bring attention to it, but it did say that none of somebody just wrote none of Joseph’s aces are real. Oh my gosh. Somebody took the time. Yeah. You know, Joseph Phillips from Another Round. Oh yeah. None of his aces are real. Someone just thought that that would be a fun thing to ride on a bench. It is fun. Don’t ride on a bench. Don’t ride on benches. They’re made for lunches, sitting, picnic, which could be a lunch or breakfast or dinner. Well, here’s the thing. You have breakfast picnics. When when you when you come into the sport, I’ll go ahead and out myself here. I did something bad. My second ace I ever got, I wrote my name on the number plate cuz I saw other people were doing it. I thought that was the acceptable thing to do. Yeah. And I didn’t know that that wasn’t like part of the disc golf subculture. Wasn’t kosher. And uh yeah, I found out by, you know, just hanging out with the guys in the club, you know, when someone mentioned vandalism and writing names on baskets and how mad it made everyone. And I was like, “Oh, yeah. That’s it’s a horrible thing to do. Terrible thing to ever do that.” Yeah. So then you just put a little bit of time into club work and you work your your uh your atrocities away, I guess. Pay your dues. You pay your dues to society. I’ve been dreaming of landing in this spot for years out here. Really? I never I I just haven’t thrown the right disc for this hole ever. Oh yeah, that’s a green light for us. Pretty pretty pretty. Send it in to me. Send it in. Green light through the hole. Oh gosh. Damn. I wanted to kind of see it finish. Try and make it. It’s going to be deep. It was going to skip just a little bit right and deep. Yeah. But it was going to give us skip and made everyone go, “Oo, I wanted to make it though.” We like those ones. See, it it promotes that. Come on, do something fun. That was at least kind of fun. Yeah, I tried. Thanks. Appreciate it. They’re making me do all this all this long running. You want to go like first? Well, I’m into it. It’s fun. All right. Do you want to throw a real pro shot? No, I I will tomorrow. What would you throw? Um I would probably throw an entropy. You go backhand. I would go backhand from there. Uh oh. I didn’t realize this OB is so tight on the backhand. I’ I’d go forehand. I would throw pyro turnover. I like the forehand for for anyone who who’s like, you know, who who can easily go back and forth. I like the forehand here. I think it checks on the hill better if you keep on the front side of the hill and not skipping away. I didn’t realize the OB was on this. That’s the only reason I was thinking backhand because this part is it used to more be able to go all in this high stuff here, but you’re kind of in Yeah, I think that makes sense. That makes this whole a little tougher and probably something that it needed to to have. Yeah, I agree. Wow. Good shot. Good shot. Thank you. Uhhuh. Thank you for letting me watch turtle back. Turtle back. Yeah. Thanks, dude. I’m going to be playing the tournament and I’m just going to be running every up had one practice round. That’s why actually we we’ve had some winners. We’ve had quite a few winners on the practice round before they won. Yeah. But we also had Ganon quite a bit over the last couple years. That helps. Increases the the chances. Yeah. Let’s talk to Raven Newsome about his forehand grip on camera. Segue. God. Show them what you got. All right. I didn’t notice this until coverage and someone took the screenshot of you throwing. Yeah. This is my grip. We We call it the Ravenclaw. Yeah. Everyone has their own fun weird names for it, but the Ravenclaw. I I’ve never met anyone else that throws like this. I started playing when I was four. Um and I think it was how my little hands really could like get around the disc and I just never changed it. I can still pump beforehand so it never really impacted it. I actually can throw forehands really well in rain and wet because I have more surface area on the disc so I can get more torque and more behind it which in turn helps me a lot. Have you tried uh altering it? I can teach I can teach them. I can throw it like this. This is always put it in there. Yeah. Here you go. This one tuck it and then these ones straight straight. And then scrunch the Spider-Man. All right. Here we go. I’m just messing with all right. Here we go. This is This is the Spider-Man. Like that. Ah. Yeah. Yeah. kind of. And then pinky off. And then you’re you’re pressing down with your thumb on your right pointer finger joint. Yeah. Yeah. Like that. Right in there. Uhhuh. Yep. That looks good. All right. We want to remind you guys, you guys all signed a waiver. So if you guys get hurt today, Oh, you can’t sue us. This is fine. I’m going to just flex it through that little guy. You guys did sign easy peasy. Mhm. Yes. Huh. It wasn’t too bad. Yeah. Results didn’t change one bit. So that’s nice. A little bit better. Yeah. So, I never teach people to throw like this. Uh, all my clinics and lessons and stuff, I always teach like this or here or stacked or power, but for me, this is what’s always worked. So, I I thought I thought somebody was trolling. I did not know that was your real grip. I Thank you for the uh the Thank you. Every time I’m on Thank you. Thank you. Every time I’m on coverage, someone screenshots. They’re like, that’s funny. I just never before. Yeah, it’s wild. Hole eight, par4, 500 ft. Uh, this is all actually out of bounds, I think, right here. Even though it doesn’t say so on there, there’s a string line that goes right across where the gap is. Hit the gap. My keypad’s off the off the thing. Yeah, it shows that. Okay. Okay. Okay. Yeah, it’s indicating same thing. Yeah. So, we’re out of bounds here. Um, the safe zone is right where the gap is. Hit that on hiser. Go as far left as you can. There is out of bounds over there, but it’s really hard to get to the out of bounds. And then from there, it’s a big high turnover to the right. really technical hole. Um, one of the best on tour probably. I It’s crazy how just because you don’t throw shots like this both ways. How can 500 ft be challenging and fair? This is the way to do it. Like this has got This is a good hole. It’s a great hole. It’s a true Sshaped hole. Yeah, that’s a great shot. That’s awesome. Wow. I feel so much better about hitting this guy. Yeah. All right, it gives us a chance. Oh, you trying it? This is what I always do. So, I I’m not sure if it’s the right play or not, but I think that when I throw this Well, nothing is better. I thought it was I thought you were trying my grip. No, you said I’m trying it and I was like, “All right, cool. Go for it.” I I mean, okay. Yeah. Yeah. I thought you were surprised by the forehand, but you’re not surprised by the for I love the forehand. Okay, cool. I’m just I’m like Raven, come on now. You know this. I do. Well, you throw forehands. I’m going to try it. I don’t know if I do, but I’m going to try it. Got it. Oh, that’s it. That’s it right there, baby. Oh my god. It got so good, dude. So good. Nice. Nice. Nice. Oh, that was nice. I I last second I changed my grip to yours. That’s why it flew like that. Ah, I see. I see. Okay, so backstory on this hole. I think I’ve hit the gap twice ever. So, if I hit this gap, I want a lot of applause. It’ll make me feel really good. Yes. Yes. Thank you. Thank you. Never before felt easier. So happy for you, man. Thanks, guys. Hey, thank you. Y’all are awesome. Is he OB? No. No, he’s he’s up here. Oh, okay. Let’s take it. It’s this place that you’d like to think is a great spot, but it’s actually really tricky. What are you talking about? This is where we’re taking back. Oh, we’re definitely throwing this shot. But I’m saying this is like the high ceiling turnover is blocked intermittently with these random branches. Yeah. And there’s no way to throw a forehand here with this tree. So I just find this to be a really tricky spot. I mean might be a good place for you to throw your little flick roller that you did last two weeks ago at a lot. Oh my gosh, dude. The funny part about that was sick. Everyone who was watching, there was not a lot of claps, but Paul Ganon and uh and Kyle immediately were like, “Dude, oh my god, that shot was sick.” Yeah. And I was like, “Ah, that’s the only one that like That’s better than a thousand claps.” Yeah. That’s the only one that the pros get, you know? You’re like, “Wow, that was a tough one.” That was such a good shot. Yeah. Like I love that. Just miss that little stuff up there. It always does. Oh, you hit the cage. You hit the cage. Oh my. Good shot. It’s really good. Like you always miss that stuff. Can we just get an eagle? You squared the cage. Damn it. You You even ramped a little bit off it to keep Yeah. Oh, going. Little high. A little deep, honestly. Deep. Like like high on the hill deep. That was a great shot. Yeah. I don’t know how to throw that type of touchy. That was what you did was gorgeous. It’s so crazy cuz it’s so close in the backside. It’s my beautiful hex. It has to be perfect. Some people know what that is, but I love this thing. There was such a narrow corridor. Nice shot. Thank you. Come on. Eat it. No. A little overturned. Other than that, it was gorgeous. Sweet. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Relay. Relay. I think I think you want to be overturned. So, it’s like a sharper god. Dude, you would have killed him. He would not have stood a chance. Brad. Wow. That was close. That was close. Okay. You want to know a funny story? I’d love to know. All I want to know from you from the rest of the round is funny stories. Okay. So, my family, all of them live out here. Like all of my mom’s side, a bunch of them. So, I’ve got like aunts, uncles, uh two sets of grandparents, like the whole thing. Right. I thought that your whole family was North Carolina. No. Um I’m from North Carolina, but anyway. So, uh they all come out every year to come and support me and and caddy and hang out for my round, right? And this every year is the worst course that I play. It’s just so long. I’ve always had a tough time on it. Now I finally I think I’ve got it. But yeah, a little more distance. Yeah. But they always come out and they’re always like, “Oh, we’re so excited.” And I’m always just getting smacked around by the course, dude. I’m like, “Holy cow.” You know what? You know what matters? No, nothing at all to them is how you play. Yeah. We always have fun. They want to see you happy and that’s it. But it’s so hard to keep that perspective when you’re out there just getting exhausted from every single hill and Yeah. And they’re out here just like in full force, man. It’s awesome. It’s so special. But it it definitely cracks me up cuz my first year on tour, I think it’s like a DGBT record. But my first year on tour, I cashed here by uh three strokes and I was 16 or 17 for 21 from circle 2. It’s the most C2 makes in a single tournament. You were working. I was 78% from circle 2. So whatever that math was C2 makes is that is unheard of. I was averaging five or I was averaging four and a half a round which is just crazy or four four a round or something like that. I remember one time the only time I ever remember counting how many C2 putts I made was after playing DA. Ah you’ve played DA? Yeah, I love DA. So you know that C2 putts are scary out there. Yeah. And I made 13 of them in a three round tournament. Oh snap. And I remember thinking to myself, that’s the best I could ever imagine putting. like this is the highest it gets because every putt, every C2 putt comes with the risk of losing your putter. Yeah. No, I mean it could be but it wasn’t 16. I mean that’s and crazy was I me and Jonathan Nicholson always had like a friendly rivalry and so we always would like we boo each other when we got on teapad like just random fun stuff like that and he uh the only the second place he had like he was like 45% from circle 2 on the tournament. Oh my god. And and I beat him by like 30 something%. Crushed him. Soul crushed him dude. Yeah. I felt bad. All right, this is hole nine. It’s a par three, 472 ft. Just don’t throw it in any of the junk. Just throw it forward through that gap. You can throw a forehand or a backhand. The key is to throw uh just straight all the way there. You’re going to have a lot of people that throw a nice little stand up mid, uh some fairways. Uh I used to throw forehand, but now I throw a better backhand. So, I’m just going to rip it kind of right at it and hope for the best. Take your putt. That’s the key. Is it from the long te? I guess so. Hold on a second, Paul. This is important for information for us. Apparently, we just got a notification that the caddy book has been changed on hole two. It’s no longer a par three. We may have had playing the correct hole. Your reputation may have just been salvaged. The A is 650. The B is 680. So, probably is probably said 650. You said five. You said you were close within 100. Dang, that’s sick. He’s like, “Now I have to film.” Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Thanks for the update. Damn. I would have aced just now. Thanks, dude. Just kidding. Okay. Right out that tree. Nice Raven Hood. No. Oh gosh. Okay. So, if you’ll remember from my whole thing, you don’t want to do that. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. More left. I pulled it. I was aiming at this tree to try to break it off, but I still would have been right. Yeah. It’s a tough little guy. Oh, mama. Go in. Please hit the tree. Please hit the tree. Holy cow. Park the other hook. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. You are going so far, bud. Nice shot. Trails don’t freaking play, dude. The disc wants to go forever. All right. Well, hey man, you’re close. I’m just gonna try a putter. I want to see if we can get it there. New new Raven. I put 580 power on it. Is it going to slow drift? It’s trying so hard. Gosh, bro. That’s pretty. Oh, thank you. That’s a shot you could take in a tournament. You wouldn’t feel bad about this, especially 16 to 22 C2 putting. Yeah, right. I’ve been throwing like the Thanks. my tournament play. Yeah. Sorry. This is probably my tournament play. Okay. Let me see if it’s the same. You going boosties? Yeah. I think I’m not really sure yet. That was not committed though. Trail. So, I play it to Oh, that’s great. Put your trail in your hand and throw it to the big tree right there cuz that’s not that far. Your trail was the very first trail I ever threw last year at Worlds. I knew you would love it. And I did love it. Super spinny guy. It was a fun throw. Mhm. I was trying to explain my point. Sorry, man. He distracted me. Why don’t you tell me what you were saying? I was trying to do like a you my tournament play. What’s your tournament play? I don’t want to do it anymore. You don’t want to? Well, what you going to do? You going to break it a little bit? Are you going to start it on the right? You can do it. Talk to me about you want to throw. What do you want to throw? I’m going to quite far. It’s okay. I’m going to throw a slight hiser at those trees and I try to hit the big tree on the left. Yeah. And then if you accidentally mess it up, you park it and if not, you get putt. I believe in you. Thanks. Go throw it. Oh, that’s great. Yeah, I think I want to start my boost like there. Yo, that’s the one. I knew you could do it, buddy. I knew you could do it, dude. Good one. Good one. He’s back. So, that’s my tournament play. Yeah, I like that play. Smart play. What was the first play? I was trying to make it. Oh, nice. Smart. You’re thinking you try to donnie it. Trying to grow the sport, dude. ESPF, dude. Every shot. That throw I just threw. You’re not growing nothing. Threw. He just threw that throw. He just threw. Hey, I just want to say something. We worked really hard after our slow start. Oh, no. And we are now going to be seven down through nine. I’m really proud of us. We had uh things were not looking good. We were getting warmed up. Looking good. Mhm. We’re back now. We’re back. I was like all the way up stronger than ever. Hey. And I told them all I want to do is shoot better than four under. So I think Dang, that was your that was your baseline? Yep. Yep. As a unit. As a as a triple. Triple C 400. How little do you trust us? Hey man, after the first two holes, I wasn’t super confident. You’re like, see, 400 is a pretty good baseline. Solid one. And I can’t get a ton of birdies on the back or I used to not be able to. So, it felt like a fair number. I feel like you can just get in the back nine and your wheels can just be spinning and you’re going nowhere, man. Yeah. You’re just like you’re just like an ATV in the desert that can’t get up the hill, dude. that that that thing once we get to this back nine, it’s just like hole after hole of Yeah. How far can you throw? Not quite far enough. You know what I’m excited about? I think this year I can get hole 14, dude. That’s all I think I finally can. If you think that you’re a big distance thrower, that’s like the challenge, right? Yeah. And I’ve I’ve hit like 55 footers on it before, but I think this year you might be able to get there. Make make work easy on yourself. Yeah, I think so. I think that tree saved you guys from getting the black eye. Yeah, that would have hurt. That thing was coming in with the the quickness. That would have hurt. I don’t know my own power. Now, that’s a great tournament play. Thanks. Yeah, I’m going to try one from the putter just because it’s fun. Nice. This disc wins MVP of the round so far. You go back that way or this way? Four. This way. Yeah. Yeah, give her a couple practice putts. Stay high. There we go. Better, better. Thanks. Thanks. Thanks. I realized I hadn’t thrown a C2 putt since we missed on hole two. So, that wasn’t helpful. All right, that’s going to wrap up the front nine. After a slow start, we pulled it together, boys. Yeah. Proud of us. Proud of what? We missed the first two. Now we good. Seven now. Yeah, now we’re seven under. Yeah, that sucks. That’s what I thought would happen. Yeah. No, I did. I thought that we were going to get a bunch in a row after those first two. There’s some there’s some birdies that you expect to get that you know in triples you’re going to get. There’s also some birdies that I think are good to get. Like I think whole five down the hill. Although all three of us threw great shots. That’s one you can miss. The turtle back can be bad if you’re not in good position off the tea. Nine. Nine. The last one. I mean Yeah, there’s a couple birdies that are definitely not easy to get. The back nine though is a monster. It’s big time. And we’ve got some new OB that we’re going to talk about. Some new teapads. Mhm. Uh any new basket placements in the back n so we got a lot to learn in this back n these guys are going to be here with us nine more holes. Tell them about that. What is this? All right. This is a a whale sack that’s got the two hot geese on it. Um this thing is working out really nice. Giving me good grip out here. Doing good stuff. Uhhuh. It can get humid out here. So it’s good to have something like that for your hand. We’re going to sign this give this to one of you guys on the Gemas Pro Patreon. If you are interested in joining an live audience like these guys, uh, in Vermont, we’re gonna have another live practice round for the beginning of the playoffs. So, come check that out. Nothing more beautiful than Vermont in September. It is good just the best place. Yeah, it’s it is the reason why we have the playoffs there. It’s a great place to be. Two Eagles on the back. We’re going to try to get two eagles. So, come on back to the back nine and we’ll see if we can do it. Get out of my Get out. [Music]

I love how NO ONE clapped for Heinold hahaha
Big Jerm was the man at Am states flymart! Stayed so long for people. Dudes a gem!
That Uli shirt is sick! Where do I get one??
I saw Raven with my buddy at Papago Disc Golf Park warming up for the Memorial with a huge stack of MVP discs a couple of years ago. He asked us about what other courses are around Phoenix. Nice guy and happy to see him do well.
"You can put it on the boooaard- Yes!". We miss ya Hawk. Is Jeremy a Sox fan?
Aww, Raven is so sweet and genuine! The way he went over to Paul @50:18 😊😂 Great practice round!
More Raven! Love that guy
I've played this course. Yes I'm an Am, but I was also a collegiate track athlete at the time. It was mid July. It was brutal. Lost 3 discs, gave up after we got to the top of the hill on hole 14
Honk!!
A used whale sac? Yuck!!
This guys voice is cartoonish!! 😮
Nice to be back, super fun practice round to watch. Raven was a terrific guest – chatty, personable, funny but cool.
Amazing to witness in person, genuine people. Raven is amazing he talked with me prior and after the round. Great people and seeing this in person was once in lifetime situation. Thanks jerm, uli, and raven.
Raven is such a cool cat I followed him and Kramer, Jake and Makela at persimmon ridge last year it was so much fun
raven just jumped real far up the list of my fav pros! this was so enjoyable to watch
Raven sounds like a cartoon character when he speaks.
When Paul said "wow that sucks" about the pixels glide, I was like damn that was salt! Then big jerm had the nastiest comeback ever. Blasted that trail with gyroscopic precision and power unpresidented in the world of conventional plastic. Pure f***in badassery on the course.
26:19 that’s acceptable
Does uli use hat lifts instead of shoe lifts?
Glad i was able to be there in person. Was such a fun event, love watching these guys
Per google earth, hole 1 has 61 feet of elevation drop. I was eye balling the pin location so give or take a few feet.
After all these years, still wishing Paul and Jerm had combined their unique superpowers to reach final form form Big Perm!
Why does the guest sound like a very young Paul???? With my eyes closed, I could see Paul in my mind…..Just saying. Try to pitch shift Paul's voice on some of the guests' statements……lets see how close that is?
An 1/8th pitch may do it.
“We do not have a disc to give away this week”.. here’s a sweaty sack instead
I loved this round and think by hole 9 Uli was like “you guys talk and talk and talk and….” 😂😂😂😂
How far can you throw… not far enough… Jerms description of toboggan 😂😂❤
"Why you gettin' embarrased? Its disc golf, we're all tryin' our best!"
-Raven Newsome 2025
Spoken like a true man of the people!
A round with Raven is officially on my goals list! What an awesome guy!
Why do I feel like Jomez giving away a Whale sack is absolute bullshit 😆 I mean, Whale sacks are cool, and they don't have to give anything away, but if you're gonna don't be that cheap.
Big Germ plays solid in these practice rounds. I don't get why he ain't in the top 20 at every tour stop?? He is really good.
Correct, do not write on benches. People put a ton of work into those benches. But yes, what we wrote is true lol
