If I owned this house which is right on the tee box of semi private course, do I have to be extra quiet?
Can I host a gathering on a Saturday when people might be teeing off? Not rowdy mind you but a bbq and some music and 20 people?
I always wondered how this works

By the way some of these golfers are loud as shit too

You can do whatever you want. I would just make sure to check your hoa rules first

  2. goodyear_1678

No, it’s your house. Do what you want.

The simple thumb rule: don’t be a dick. If you’re being loud or rowdy JUST to piss off golfers or people having fun, then re-evaluate life and breeding.

  3. OhhClock

Not at all. Live your life.

If anything the golfers need to be the ones being quiet and respectful

unpopular opinion but if you’re getting upset about some noise thats coming from 10+ yards away from you, you’re just a sensitive asshole. I highly doubt that some noise coming from that far away changes the outcome of your swing whatsoever. OP, its your house and would be wild if you were expected to treat every amateur golfer like they’re playing for the tour lol

  5. Fragrant-Report-6411

I’d be more worried about the language you’re going to hear from the tee box than how much you’ll bother them

As long as there is a steady volume of noise golfers should not have issues.

If there is nothing in the terms/contract of the house, you can do what you want, but I suspect there is something written in the contract somewhere. If there isn’t, do what you want, why should you have to be quite when you have some golfers playing loud music and shouting

  7. Real_Explanation_298

I’ve golf at golf courses where they throw giant gatherings. Like the bring those giant inflatable slides for kids or whatever next to the tee box. It bothers me 0%. I actually prefer it next to the tee box vs like 250 yards away where I’d be worried about hitting some kid playing. A vast majority won’t care. Some A-holes might care, but screw them, you live there. That’s what I think anyways.

  8. at-the-crook

try shouting “Hey Batter-Batter-Batter”…. I think golfers like that……

  9. CommissionIcy9909

Hell no. Every single time I play, at some point or another grounds crew are mowing grass in the area, crows are squawking, some bros are blasting country music, and in the other direction guys are hootin and hollering after a big putt. If I paid $100 dollars for a round and found my ball next to a guys yard and he had a party going with a live band I wouldn’t care. Live your life friend.

Do what you want, the golfers will be louder probably.

  11. bigjohn141

Way better to buy next to the tee box than 100-250 yards past it, especially on the right hand side. Also, I would probably suck at every hole on that golf course except that one. Practice every evening after the clubhouse closes.

  12. Key_Sound735

I’m sure that’s where the grandkids hear the word “fuck” quite a bit

  13. Hog_enthusiast

A guy on my course literally plays the bagpipes. You can hear it from everywhere on the front 9. I kind of like it though.

  14. meathead13_

In my experience it’s not just any noise in general that bothers people when they’re taking a shot, it’s a sudden change in the amount of noise around them.

I play with some people who are just as distracted if everyone stops talking right as they’re about to tee off as they would be by someone yelling at the top of their backswing.

I don’t think anyone would really care as long as you aren’t purposely trying to mess with someone’s game.

  15. kaedenb123

There’s a guy in my course who has parties every weekend and he has a megaphone and heckles every freaking person on the tee box behind his house 😂 it’s great lol

  16. reddit_and_liked_it

Hell no. I use my blower on the deck when people are putting for fun!

  17. Right-Round9339

Hells to the m-n-f-n NO!!! This is still a free country and you own that spot. They are just renters passing by.
I am a golfer by the way, and I always know in those neighborhood golf clubs, expect noise… conversely, expect your home to be hit by a golf ball a few times.

  18. Lietenantdan

It’s just like living anywhere else near people. You can have parties, just be respectful and keep everything at a reasonable volume.

  19. WizKhaliba420

If there is a tournament going on I would probably be more respectful noise wise but if it’s just a random Sunday heckle and cheer for them. Pressure makes diamonds, if they can’t handle the noise of a random house they will be next to for 3 minutes then maybe they should find a new sport or a more expensive club

  20. Turbulent_Echidna423

I see signs on golf courses here to respect the neighbours .

  21. streetglide109

have jell-o shots on hand and a mega phone and play games with them if they don’t like it f em

  22. Mtanderson88

Homeowners can do whatever they want. Most golfers aren’t bothered by it

  23. bluecgene

Imagine you can play one hole when no one around you

  24. HVAC_instructor

Nope it’s your house you do you. The golfers will adjust

  25. There’s a great couple of clips that a guy’s son is sitting on the edge of his property near a teebox and right as they go to swing he yells “Jackass”.

Most of the golfers laugh because he’s like 4-5 age range, but it’s his property so what ya gonna do!

  26. Benny_Pops

Engage with the golfers after putts are made or tee shots are hit especially when they are good shots/putts. Always have beer, Bloody Mary’s and Tequila ready for the fun groups. Act as if you are playing with them and you’ll have a blast!

  27. burlymugg

as long as the noise is consistent, and not BANG out of nowhere, it is fine. Even then, Its your house, have fun. Very nice of you to inquire here though ha.

  28. Easy solution. Put a cow bell by the tee box. Then a notice that says:
“Sry for the noise from our little BBQ. If you want silence ring the bell so 30 of us can watch you tee off”.

  29. tomnan24

Property owner prerogative. Your guests deserve more thought than golfers

  30. It’s your house. As long as you’re not breaking any laws or rules, have at it. If my game is shitty when I come by your place, can I crash your party?

  31. There was a par 4 at my old course with a house overlooking the green, it was the 1 handicap hole. He had party’s on Saturday sometimes and the guests would cheer when someone got a birdie. Was great fun. 😂 I had the pleasure of getting a birdy one time (only time I’ve ever birdied that hole)and was informed it was the first of the day after they stopped cheering. Best day of my life. 🤓

  32. Kawika33

I lived on the tee of a par 3, over water in NC. Every summer we’d treat it like the WM 16th. We’d have shots; keg stands cheering sections, BBQ the works. Fucking blast. Only people who would complain just tee’d off early. Stayed with HOA rules and no one gave a shit. Was a blast

  33. CryRepresentative992

If they can send balls into your backyard, you can send sound waves into their tee box.

  34. MattsNewAccount620

I played a course in Hyannis MA and there were homes surrounding the course. One of the homes had a BBQ going with about a dozen adarondack chairs and coolers of beer at the edge of their property next to the par three tee box. Clearly large party going on.

They would cheer if you hit the green and boo if you missed it, but would hand out beers.

I never forgot those people whoever they are, living my dream.
