BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – An Aggie and NBA Champion brings his golf tournament to Bryan for its second year.

The Alex Caruso Foundation, founded by Oklahoma City Thunder Guard Alex Caruso, is hosting a fundraiser to raise money for the nonprofit organization’s mission to provide kids with the tools and resources to stimulate personal growth through athletic, academic and social opportunities.

Caruso was raised in College Station and says he always enjoys the chance to come back to the BCS area.

“My mom and dad still live in the community, so getting to see them. Getting to go to some old restaurants that I love, Wings And More, Layne’s, Koppe Bridge, hitting all the OG spots and just getting to see a bunch of people in the community.”

Caruso says he always knew he wanted to start his foundation to give back to the community he grew up in.

One of the main beneficiaries of the fundraiser is the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Brazos Valley, whose values also align with the Alex Caruso Foundation’s mission.

“Just leaning into developing the youth and giving them opportunities that, maybe they wouldn’t have outside of, some of these donations that we’re able to support the Boys and Girls Clubs with. It’s a great day to come and have a good time and understanding that it’s for more than just going out there and playing golf.”

Caruso is coming off of a championship run with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

To help celebrate his second NBA Championship, the Larry O’Brien trophy will be at the golf tournament and available for photo opportunities.

If you are interested in participating, foursome and sponsorship opportunities are still available for purchase.

The second annual Alex Caruso Foundation Golf Tournament is happening on Sep. 8 at The Traditions Club in Bryan with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
