#NHL
The Knucks were 0 and2 last year. Only two
shootouts all year long. So it’s Miller who gets it started in the shootout. Swoops on in from the
left wing. Waits and a glove save from Harrison. Patience paying off for the goalender. Tough to
stay patient when Miller goes wide and comes in with not a lot of speed, but the flexibility of
Harrison allows him to take care of the low part of the net and then the glove upright makes
the save. Great stuff. Flyers captain will be their first shooter. Does he go backhand forehand
here? You’ll see his banded move. Three of seven last year. Comes on in shuttles. Oh, he tried the
Forsber, but Lankanin was up to it. [Music] Yeah, Cooch tries to fool Lankin with the old Peter
Forsberg move, but slides right off his stick. So, Elias Patterson will be next up. 12 of 34 for
his career. 0 for two last year. Swerves on in. and could not beat. Boy, Sam is so patient
in these shoots. It’s incredible. I mean, this is a good move. I don’t know if I think he
gets a piece of it, but when Person goes backhand, forehand, that angle should be there, but look at
the blocker. I mean, he got it with the blocker. All right, buckle your seat belts. Matt Feishkov
with his first NHL shootout attempt. And we know he has a million moves. Which one will he try?
Here he goes. Picks up speed and Lakinan dropped his stick but was able to stay with him and make
the save. Omichkov tried to change up speeds. He started slow, picked up speed right here. He
picks it up and then tries to go backhand back to the forehand through the legs and I think the
stick that was on the ice is what made the save. Jake the Russ the former Bruins the big side
for the Canucks in with speed and he stos [Applause] the speed that can hurt you but he also
elevates it right there he takes a little off it de Bruss does comes in with the speed and just
flips it right in the top corner great play there by de Bruss up to Travis Kknney to keep this game
alive. He’s only two for 18 in shootout attempts in his career. 0 for two last year. Roars on in
and scores. Kknney ties the shootout at one and we play. Both players the Brusk and Kknney come
in with more speed than their prior shooters and it pays off. Kknney moves it to his forehand.
Lankin opens up and he sifts it right through the five hole. by percentage. Conor Garland’s the
best either team in his career. Eight for 19 in shootouts. Cuts on in. Oh, Harrison somehow kept
that out. I thought he was dead to rights, but it didn’t go. Oh, this is a great move by Garland.
See if he gets a toe on it. No, he lost it. Yeah. I mean, he had him. If he keeps it on his
stick, I think he’s got a little bit of daylight. So Tyson Forester can win it for the Flyers. One
for six in his career. He’ll try from the right wing. And Lank not sure, but he made the save.
He got enough of it. Yeah, I think Tyson had it in his mind that he wanted to shoot this puck the
whole time. Give credit to Lankin and he gets out, but watch where he ends up. He’s at the top of the
blue. There’s not much to shoot at. For trying to get him to back in and hope something opens up. So
now it’s Brock Besser, five for 23 in his career. He’ll try the deliberate approach save. Yeah,
the the slow doesn’t work on Harrison. That’s where his patience pays off. I think you got
to you got to go with speed against him. Look where he is. I mean, he’s able to remain
at the top of the blue paint. Good save. So we play on into the morning back east. It’s
Morgan Frost with a chance to win it for the Flyers. One for two last year, two for seven
in his career. He could be slick. Slowly on in De shot score. Morgan Frost able to wait
him out and the Flyers win the hockey game. Two-1 in the shootout. 32 your final and the
Flyers continue to pile up points in season openers. Zukarelloo who started the scoring
tonight airs in on Joey Decor and scores. Well, heck of a move here and pump fake. Pulls
it to the backand. Joey bites and doesn’t get him with the stick and it’s an empty net. But
that’s a world class move there. Second time tonight. He’s trying for the poke check. Tried
it in overtime and Baldi missed the net. That one thereell scores. It’s time to cue the maestro.
Oliver Borkstrand, shooter number one for Seattle. We’ll take a wide route and think about it. He
scores. Beautiful move by Oliver Bjorkstrand. Making like a snake. Ali in around quick little stick handle and then
elevates the puck up and over the glove of Mark. Andre Flurry Carell Capri in the two
hole for John Hines is Carell Capri off off the goal post. It looked like he went for a little bit of a
change up there trying to catch Joey leaning. Just a soft one just trying to post it right
up over that blocker side. Hits the post and out for Seattle. Captain’s choice. Jordan
Everly with two goals tonight. Goals 300 301 in his career. Everly calmly in. He scores.
Make no mistake, McCracken lead the shootout. Another one that goes to the
glove side on Mark Andre Flurry. Shooting third from Minnesota.
Matt Baldy. Number 12. Third shooter. Baldi. [Music] Here we go. Matt Baldy slowly in. It goes high. That’s Kraken hockey,
baby. Win number one. And it comes via the shootout as they get it done tonight here in
Minnesota. He comes out of the one slot. Curls wide left. Robertson on Blackwood upstairs into
the corner. You couldn’t paint it any better. He He’s the greatest I’ve seen since UC Yoken
around here. Everybody knows. The goalenders know what he’s going to do and they can’t do
anything about it. He just paralyzes their glove hand and nails that top corner. Young Will
Smith, the 19-year-old, is going to be the first short shooter. What a talent he is. First
shootout at the NHL level denied by Utinger. He’s had a pretty quiet night in a very man game
here this evening and Auter with great patience just stared it off the pad and cuff of the glove.
So here’s Duchain an opportunity to give the Stars a commanding lead in the shootout.
Duchain scores that combo does it again. Yeah, Bang Bang. This is meandering marksmanship
from Matt Duchain. Threw a little stick language at him and then rifled it five hole. And Aud who
is 75% in shootouts in his career. If he can get a stop on Mle Granland, he could complete
a perfect homestead. Granland to extend the game. Scores. Gorgeous patience by Granland.
Yeah, he came in from a bit of the flank and it got Jay God scrambling a little bit as he’s
tried to hold moving across gave him too much against the grain. Just a little flipper finds
Twine. Johnston is 0 for three in his career. If he can score his first shootout goal, he’ll
end the game. Johnston scores. Perfection in the shootout on the home stand for the season
so far. And the Stars outlast the Sharks 3-2. Man, what a mortiferous little release
this is. Bang. Perfectly placed. Poor McKenzie Blackwood nearperfect in the game
and heroic over and over again. Get into the skills competition and he got beat. Bang,
bang, bang. Eight for 37 in his career, 22%. And here he comes to lead
it off. Barzel at the goal post. A nice move by Barcel as he kind of waits out
Primo. And it’s a quick move to the backhand and and I think he beats him, but he just
can’t beat the iron as he cranks off the post, comes back and it’s out of harm’s
way. Cole Cfield with two goals on the night. Nine for 20 in his
career. Cfield into the slot. It’s no shock that he comes down that side. That
is his favorite side. I think he should fire it from the dot. That’s where he scores all his goals
from. instead he cruises in tries to go five hole shuts that down. First career shootout attempt
for Max Simplicov for the New York Islanders and Siplov will cut to the right side
into the slot and his backand goes wide. Well, Ciplov tries to fool Primo thinking
he’s going to cut across the net. Instead, cuts back to the short side quickly and Primo’s
got that left leg out. There wasn’t nothing there, I don’t believe. And it rattles off the back
into the corner. Nick Suzuki to shoot for the Canadians. 11 for 26, which is 42% in his career.
Hasn’t scored a goal this season yet. Does he have one in the shootout for Montreal? attempting
can’t get it as it’s poe by Morav. All the zigging zagging coming down the ice and Garamoff
with a really quick poe on the Montreal captain as he comes in and tries to wait out Garamoff
and a really gutsy play to lay that stick out. Often times you leave your five hole vulnerable
when you do that. Good poke check by Horvat to shoot for the Islanders. 11 for 33 in his career.
Horvat slows down. Horvat denied by Primo. Oh, nice job by Kaden Primo as the brakes get jammed
on by Horvat. And that’s to kind of throw the goalie off when he’s backing up. It’s to kind of
stop to get him to kind of hesitate and Primo does a good job of hanging in there, making the
save. And look at this. The youngster Lane Hudson with a chance to win it in his first
career shootout attempt for Montreal. Princ. That’s got to be something for the youngster
here. First shootout as he jams the brakes on a bit too and then tries to go five hole.
That’s a couple of Canadians that feel like the five holes there are not something that
they picked up in the video watching Harlem, but he’s had that thing shut down.
Kyle Pali 8 for 38 in his career. has a little speed gambling.
Slows down, scores. Top corner. You go all the way back to the first period. It’s
where he buried his goal earlier in the game as well. He loves this spot. Right hand shot. He goes
right over the right shoulder of Primo. And what a dart. He fires up into the top right corner. So
now the Canadians need a goal to stay alive and for that they’ll go to another youngster. Kaan
will get a crack at it to try and keep this game alive. Kinan scores and he does. Well, the one
thing about putting guys out there that have never done it before is the goalender has no read on
them whatsoever. They’ve watched no tape on them and Kaan just cruises in and beats them high above
the pad and below the glove. ruin. Really nice shot for Kappa and especially with the anxiety
going down knowing if you miss it, it’s game over. He keeps this thing alive. Simon Holmstrom one for
four in his career. Homestuck scores. Great move. Well, you can say that again. What a
beautiful move. And he’s got lanky reach, too, right? So, he’s going to take it from
all the way to his back hand. That thing’s moving across the crease rather
quickly. And Primo gets caught. And All Hanaman for his first career shootout
attempt to try and keep it alive again for the Canadians. Two goals on the season for
Hanaman. Hanaman scores. A great shot. Here we go to round six. I love the medal
of these young guys. No problem. Kappan, Heinaman, they just cruise in and roof
this thing right in on Vlamoff and it’s a quick snapshot as he hits the hash marks and
a real beautiful shot and this thing continues. Now it’s Jean Cabriel Pou that’ll
shoot for the Islanders next 0 for three in his career in
the shootout. denied by Primo. Slowly meandering down the left side of
Kaden Primo and I think he just realizes he’s got to hold his ground there and
he does and trying to go far side. Good save by Kaden Primo. Alex New Hook 0 for one in
his career, but a chance to win from Montreal. New sets down over there in the seventh round.
Start to get the feeling that there might be no end to this. It’s like the long shift in
the second period for the Canadians. Well, it is baseball. He could go nine rounds,
nine innings. This is a guy who’s got 17 goals against Montreal Canadians in his career.
We’ll see if he’s got one more. Brock Nelson. Nelson handle the slap. Stop 130. At some point
you got to think you’re going to see Kirby Dock. You got to think he’s going to be coming over
the board soon. And it looks like it’s going to be another defenseman in Mat. Mike Mat one for
three in his career in shootouts and he’s got a chance to win it. Mat cuts down to the left side.
Mat comes in. Stop by. Off we go to the eighth. Well, you got to know these guys are exhausted.
It’s been a long hard-fought game and this thing continues. And for the goalenders, too, right?
It’s been a long night and they’re battling now into the eighth round of the shootout as Xunctural
Canadian Romanov’s going to get a shot at this. Alexander Romano with his first career shootout
attempt and he’s stopped by Primo. Glove save. All leather. Thanks for coming. Kaden Primo just
snags that out of the air. Romanov just tries to wait him out. And again, over that pad, right,
that’s the sweet spot. Usually just above the pad, below the glove is the spot you want to try
to hit as Slavowski will try to end this. Slavsky one for four in his career. Slavowski
is in. Stop by. To the top of the ninth we go. Well, it is the season. It is the baseball
playoffs as Slavoski tries to wait him out on the backhand. He just didn’t have a chance
to get it straight up. Good glove positioning there by Var. You got to love all these defenseman
going now. Noah Dobson up for the Islanders. Oh, Dodson 0 for three in his career in
the shootout. Dodson scores. Well, you don’t get 70 points in a season being a
wallflower from the back end. Dobson is a really solid offensive player. He cruises in and doesn’t
try to disguise it at all. He cruises right in and fires it right where he was looking. Logan Mayu
will get a crack at it now. Another defenseman. First chance. Bottom of the ninth needs a save.
May needs to score. Woo! back. Islanders win it three-2. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Guzmano
goes wide on Adulovic in stick handles. Digs backand. It was there but he whipped on it on
the last second move. Kusenko with great hands trying to wait out the goalender and he had room
but the puck just slid off the end of his stick. Ricard Raquel had a goal in regulation. 42%
shooter in the shootout. Raquel in Dustin Wolf Raquel shoots scores. Wow. That’s a goal
scorers goal right there. Take your time. One little fake and you get Dustin Wolf just a punch
over just a little bit right there. Great release. Opens up the blade at the very last second. Puts
a touchdown. Anthony Banana game number 500 in his career. One for six in his career. The shootout
in on Adulkovic. Mantha slows backand scores. All right, John. I didn’t want to jinx him before,
but that’s his go-to move. if I didn’t want to say it. He scored a goal earlier this year the
exact same way he gets the goalender open up and slides it five hole. That is just a slick
little move. Sydney Crosby in on Wolf shoots off the post and out. Wolf with a little kiss for his
friend on the glove side. Great hands by Crosby. He’s going to come over the top of this puck.
It looks to me like he’s showing five hole and then just quickly turns a wrist over and goes
glove side. Rasmus Anderson two for five in his career. Goal and an assist and a whole lot more
tonight. He’s been all over it trying to come up big for the Flames. Anderson in the shootout.
Bondadelkovic snaps and scores. He got it through. Raspus Anderson gives the Flames the edge just looking for an opening opening and right off
the goal glove and you can see the disappointment but that’s a huge huge goal for Rasmus Anderson.
Rust on Wolf save wins it but he scores. Okay, two two very similar goals. One by Raquel and
now Rust. Very, very similar right-handed shots, both of them. They come from the right
of the goalender and get him moving just a hair and go glove side. Conor Zer
looking for his first ever shootout goal. What a time it would be to get one.
Zeri to the forehand. Stopped by Dulkovic. Well, I’m not surprised Ari was in this position.
He’s been so good tonight. He had so many good looks and tries to go above the pad. He had room,
but he had to go about five more inches higher on the right pad. Matt shooting at 33% in his career
coming in the game on the lineup. Wolf Latain De’s backhander with the stop to keep it going. Wolf a
little bit unsure. So, another right-handed shot, Latang, and he’s going to show the same sort of
thing that he might go glove side right there. And then he goes backhand and Wol was able to
track that down. Unsure of where the puck was, but nonetheless, he made the save. Azam Cadri, the
hero stopped by Adelkovich. He tied it up late, but couldn’t beat him there. Let’s take a look at
this. Is he trying to set him up five hole? This one was hard to get. No, he’s just going to go
glove side and just kind of miss missed the shot. Bars Eller at 35% in his career. Wide on Wolf.
Eller in drags Wolf. The stop bounces in the crease and stays out. All right. Learning on the
fly. It’s his first shootout for Dustin Wolf at this level and last couple. Watch this one.
He’s still a little bit unsure of this one, too. He knows that he’s kind of made the save,
but he’s not sure where it ends up. 11th shooter. First career attempt for Justin Kirkland.
Kirkland comes in, shoots, scores. [Applause] Kirkland with the smile. Would it Will
it be enough? What an amazing 10 days for Kirkland. comes in, goes glove side
and gives the Flames an opportunity with one save to win this game. Wol trying to
stop and Ganny Malin little spin around that center coming in straight away
on Wolf G. The Flames win. [Applause] careerhigh for him. More on Morazzic scores. [Music] That was a confident shot going down the
right side as a lefty. And once he brought it to the forehand there, boy, plenty of torque off that
stick right there on just a wrist shot. Connor Bernard caught his breath after that long shift
in overtime and he’ll be up first for the Hawks. Bernard on Darcy Keer. Round
one. Slows down. Scores. Great play. Came in with a little speed.
Shooters shoot and dancers dance. The kid’s a shooter. Brings it to the forehand. Only
in one quick motion just fires it past the goender Darcy Kemper. 1-1. Two goals for
Lefrier in the game. Round two. Lefarer stopped by Morazzic. Not a piece of
that one and steered to wide. Well, he loves going to that stick side and he’s good at
it here on a breakaway situation. He slows down, pulls it back into the wheelhouse and catches
the top part of the blocker and the right elbow table up next. Tervine and in on camper scores a beauty on the
back hand. Oh, what a move that is. He got him to bite. Got him to bite. Hoisted it on the
backand on the forehand here. Here’s where he gets him to bite a little bit. The goalie loses
his balance. Lunging forward and Terra Bindan makes him pay. Adrien Kempe up next for the Kings.
Morazzic will win it with a save. Campe scores. Good read there by Kempe. Always frustrates
the goalender when it goes underneath you and somehow he had the confidence to fire it there
where usually that stick will stop that one. Hottest Hawks goal scorer early in the year is
Ryan Donado. He set up the game tying goal. He’s got a chance here. Donado scores. Spectacular.
And the Hawks complete the comeback. 43 shootout victory. Oh, what a move. What a move to have
the presence and calmness here on the forehand. bring it to the backhand and thanks for coming.
He beats the sweep check cleanly with some quick hands right here. Donado’s been terrific
all season long and here he goes. Oh my god, that’s a thing of beauty. What a move. What
a win. Improbable after 40 minutes of play. Give the boys some credit. Second shootout of
the year for New York. Their first one went nine rounds in a win over Montreal. Walstrom
coming in wide left off the pad of Nadulkovich. Not I think he was going what just five hole
there. Clutter you had an angle there. I think he was going low glove. He likes to kind
of get across come across the hash marks and go low glove. Delic kind of I think I
feel like he knew it was coming and stood him up pretty good. Here’s Ricard.
Raquel first shooter for Pittsburgh. Raquel drifting to the middle of the ice.
Little stutter step move and shot it wide. No goals through one round. See where B decides to
go. He likes to go high blocker quarter. I don’t know. That’s what I’ve seen in most occasions when
he comes in from his his off side. Yeah. See if he tries to go there again. Corvette 0 for one this
season coming in. throws the snow up and went one hand and tucked it through. Oh my goodness. Wait,
he’s playing it cool. I don’t know if he meant to do that ever. He got stuck, but what a goal. And
you know what? Maybe he did get stuck. And I keep saying when you’re just reactionary and not
thinking about something, good things happen. And the Delta, he couldn’t believe it. Here’s
Sydney Crosby with booze raining down on him here on Long Island. Sydney Crosby saves a rookie.
Islanders a save away or a goal away from a win. Crosby, the third shooter and Sroen not fooled
at all. Mary, Kyle Palmer a chance to win it. He had a goal and an assist in regulation.
Paul against Nadulkovich. [Applause] Missed it. Tried to go high blocker. Seen
him shoot that one before. Wasn’t much there. Tried to go low all the way.
And the goalender makes a great save. Islanders will ask Ilas Sro to win it for him against
Chris Latang. Leang’s pretty good on shootouts, I’ll tell you that. Here he comes. Latang
backhand saveen and the Islanders win in a shootout. They trail 3-1 in the third period.
They come back to tie it and Bo Horvac gets the gamewinning goal in the shootout.
So Cage Gonzalez will move in for the first opportunity of the shootout. Save for
tried to go five hole and he shut the door. Do gave him nothing to look at. I did not see
Gage Gonzalez as the first shooter for Tampa, but here he comes in, tries to change the
angle and then try, as you said, tries to go five hole. And that was easy pickings for
Fed. And it will be Kknney first for the Flyers. Travis Kney has three goals in 19 tries in his
career. in the shootout to the forehand score. Feathers one over the glove of Vaselpski
to give the Flyers the shootout lead. Wow, that he made that look easy. Coming in off
angle and then pulls it up and then just floats it up and over Vasilleski’s glove.
Basili looks a little frustrated at that, but he wasn’t. His gloves up, gloves up,
and drops it right as the puck comes. That was pretty. So now Victor
Hedman will try to answer. [Applause] A long reach of Headman as smooth
as they come. Save Beno again. Was he trying to go five hole? Bonotov got the stick in
the way. You got a 6 foot7 goalender. He covers a lot of ground. They’re not
make neither of the shooters so far has made a move very much. He’s tracking
as he comes across down in his butterfly, but he makes a blocker save. So now Tippet
with a chance to end things. Never scored a goal in his shootout career, but he had
the goal to force overtime for the Flyers. Tippet on Vaselpski. score. The
Flyers win it in a shootout. And it will be at least one more game for
Andre Baselpski to have to wait for career win number 300. A comeback win for the Flyers
in the third and then in the shootout. Oh, the excitement for Philadelphia right now coming
in a game like that. Goalie roulette in the for them. And then they’ve got Owen Tippet. He gets
the tying goal late in the third. Never before scored a shootout goal, but he picks a great time
to score one here on Andre Basilleski. Both the goals scored on Basleski glove side. Tough one
for Tampa Bay as they go into a six-day break in the shootout. Lar covers a lot in the net.
Tage Thompson likes to find with some speed on his shot. We’ll see that he lets it go.
Thompson off the post. had him beat but the post just as Lucan has had over the last few
games helping out Lar in that instance. No, you’re right. He had him beat there and he just
kind of puts this about a foot and a half just right over the pad. Not looking to go up top. He
was trying to put it over the pad under the glove and he does about inch and a half off. That’s
it. Igor Sharon go against Suko Pekalucan and Sharon Govich wide to the left back between the
circle. Save made by Lucinan. Tried to go low. And I think he was looking thinking Lucin might
open up here when he goes down, but he never did. Like there it is. And he tried going it and then
boom. You see how quick he shut that up. He had the paddle flat as well. All right, JJ Purka.
Let’s see what you got in the shootout. JJ Pa from center ice. Peter to the left circle now.
Cuts his way to the net. Takes a shot. Scores. So calm, cool coming back to the bench.
But you talk about a quick release. Watch this. Here he is. He fakes and then boom.
As soon as he pulled it to the forehand, he had just enough room there under Var. He
doesn’t keep that stick flat to the ice and he finds that hole. But what a quick release.
Former Vancouver Kanak Andre Kushko. He has the puck for the Flames between the
circles. Fakes Lucy with a pass save. He’s making it look easy, isn’t he? Just
staying with him. Not overplay. Look at the little jump right there because Minko
doesn’t throw him off one bit. Stays with him. He stays big. Stays upright. Number 89,
Alex. The game on his stick. Alex Tuck takes the puck at center to the right circle. Var
comes out to meet him. Tuck stopped by Var. And the Flames get another crack. One last crack
here. Nice, nice movement there by Ox Tuck, but he I think he was looking to get that up
a little higher. Watch when he pulled it back, he chips it to try to get it up. only got it
up about a foot off the ice. Justin Kirkland, the Winnipeg native for the Flames. He’s
got the puck to the circle on the left wing side. Lukan tracks it. Saved by Lucan
and Savers win it in a shootout. [Applause] There we go. The shootout.
begins and Barov just beautiful. Oh, he makes it look so smooth.
Well, we’ve seen that out of his bag of tricks before. Barkov comes
in, puts one hand on the stick. Now, here’s Kknney. He’s two for two this
year [Applause] against Babski off the great overtime. Knee is stoned by Sergey Babski’s
goal stick. When you’re going that slow, the goalender can react a lot
better. Connecting just he was just crawling towards the net. You
see Babroski had already gone down. Reinhardt has been so good in his career in
shootouts. Great percentage at just over 40. Try to really put the Panthers in charge.
Reinhardt weaves in against San Er. Snaps it off. It’s a glove save. Not much movement
there by Ersen. He just waited waited for Reinhardt to shoot the puck. Here’s a great
angle of it. Reinhardt look he think he was trying to obviously go over top of the glove.
We just didn’t elevate it enough. Here’s Tippet. Owen Tippet. Seven shots on goal in the game
tonight. Could not beat Babski during play. Here he is. Second round of the shootout.
And that time he scores. And we’re tied. Oh, that’s a nifty move right there. Tippet
really sold that he was going to shoot that puck and then he hung on to it for
the last second. He’s going to be on his forehand and just slips it underneath the left
pad. Third round, it’s Anton Londell’s turn. He’s got some slick moves. See
what he has in store for Esen. Londell to the backand. Oh, he just
wouldn’t go. Could not tuck it in. Oh, it looked good for the first 95%
of this try by Lundell. Looked like he was going to tuck it in there. That last
move. Yeah, he’s got him beat but just Oh, the outstretch left pad of denied that. Bobby
Brink can win it for the Flyers. Gathers it in and comes in with speed off the wing against
Babski. Brink stopped. We continue. No success for the Flyers coming in off that right side.
Babroski has stuck both of those opportunities. Here’s number 19 trying to go to the far
corner. Matthew Kachchuck to the fourth round trying to give Babski a chance
to end it the other way. the job deliberately slowly at the net and
he couldn’t go five hole. That’s denied. Looking to see if Es would overplay this once
goes to the back hand. Slip it between the legs, but it was off the mark. Another chance
for Philadelphia to win it with Couturier. 0 for one this season. Can Babski
keep it moving? The Flyer captain to the net and Babroski sends us to the fifth round. Babroski’s always active with that stick
and I think this it comes into play here. Look at the stick. Yep, there it is.
Knocks it off the stick of Couturier. Four straight saves now for Ears or
three straight. And now it’s Rodriguez. Rodriguez. Beautiful to the
back hand and the Panthers have the lead in round five. Oh, what a goal. Oh, this is pretty to watch right
here. Rodriguez number 28. There he makes that move for the backhand. That’s
difficult to make. Now the onuses are on the veteran goender Sergey Babroski
trying to end it and stop Morgan Frost. Cross carry, slows down at the net. Let’s go home, baby. Survi and the Panthers win the shootout
and that’s seven in a row for the Cats. Final. Look at how he’s trying to sell something. Yep.
And Eerson was committed to Rodriguez shooting the puck. Another look at it right there. And then
makes the move to the backand and tucks it in. And here’s how it ended. Sergey Babroski. Wait,
wait, wait. Yeah. The reflexes take over here, right? Yeah. Two for two. Two for three. could
not finish that one. Trying to go above the pad, below the glove, take it from backhand to
forehand. That far side opens up. I think Vanichek may have gotten a slight piece of it with
that left pad. Mlin celebrating gets to partake in a shootout in the NHL for the first time. He was
injured when the Sharks had their other shootout. So, let’s see what the 18-year-old has up his
sleeve. Several digs, but patience stays right with him. You said it, JJ. Patience. This kid’s
got a lot of deception to his game right there. He gives a fake and Harrison able to hold his
feet long enough to give the push. No problem there. So, the 18-year-old could not score. Now,
the Flyers 19year-old will try. Goff 0 for one. try to give the Flyers the lead. Round two. In for
the right wing and he scores. Slowed down and then picked up the pace and beat Vanichek. Kids got
some swagger, doesn’t he? Great move. Backhand, forehand. gets it around that right leg and then
the celebration to the crowd. What’ you expect? What a response he’s had tonight. Third straight
teenager. It’s Will Smith with some speed. He’s 0 for one. Harrison makes the save. You know, you
don’t see a lot of guys come with that type of speed. It’s almost It can throw you off a bit,
but Eri doesn’t back in too fast. You can see he’s almost at the top of the blue. Smith was
banking on the fact that Harrison would end up in his crease deep. Didn’t happen and he missed
wide connecting with a chance to seal it. He’ll get another scoring chance right here. And he
goes, he scores. He can sleep tonight. Travis Knee puts it away for the Flyers after all those
chances. He scores. The Flyers win the shootout and they win the hockey game 43. Entertaining
game here tonight at the Wells Fargo Center and the Flyers after letting a three-goal
lead slip away get the two points anyway. Well, Kenkne, we talked about it. He could
have had five or six tonight. This move, he’s done it three consecutive shootout
attempts. He’s two for three on this exact move. It worked in Tampa, didn’t work at Florida.
It works here tonight. It’s almost unstoppable. gets the goalender to move
and then shelves it. So, Raquel will kick off this shootout 16
for 38 in his career in the shootout. Save. Blackwood didn’t bite,
didn’t move. Stayed right with him. He’s holding it on that angle. His fake
shot. He kind of gives a little shoulder drop and Blackwood stayed with him the
entire way. But Kyle Granlin will go now for the Sharks. Chance to give the San
Jose Sharks the lead in the shootout. Scores. Patience and the finish. And
the Sharks are in front. Datsuki. The way he just kind of came across on
his off side. Crosby likes to do this too. We’ll see if he comes in on that
angle and just kind of lofts it back. Here he comes. Crosby’s got a chance
to get the pens even again. Scores. Similar little more power and pop. Love
that sound off the post. Takes that angle. Cuts it short though. Just bleeds it
back across. High blocker. Celibbrini. Mcdalovic says no. Just couldn’t hit that spot. His goalies go
down on that one knee. He’s going for that five hole by the stick. See that little
hole and he just hits the toe of Ned. So here comes Brian Rust. Six for nine in his
career. Blackwood with the stop. [Applause] And that means Will Smith
can win it. Army, 19year-old BC’s first year in the league. [Applause] 0
for two in his career in the shootout with a chance to complete the comeback for
San Jose. Melkovic keeps this moving. Celebrate Smither. Dangerous and scary. High
skill. They never know what they’re going to do. Anthony Bollier kicking off round number four. What a move and a finish.
Bollier puts the Pens in front. Well, all right. We get the extra shooters.
Go with your hottest guy. Four game point streak. He’s feeling it. Does that
count to keep his goal streak going, too? No. Sorry, but man, what a move. Just
sold it. Blackwood fell for that one. So, William Ecklan a Nadelovic save wins
it. One for four in his career. Scores. It sneaks through and we play
on. He just stuffed that through. back at forehand and just hit
that spot and try to fight it off. So, if Malin will begin round number five, all of PPG Paints Arena on its
feet here on this Saturday night. Mark scores. Head up. A couple shoulder drops. Look
at this. There’s a little little head bob. Just waits him out. Just waited
him out. Picked his spot and hit it. So, Alex Wenberg 6 for 24 in his career. Game
on the line. Nalovich says no. Good night. Two-point party on Fifth Avenue. Penguins win
it 4-3 in the shootout. Calgary has one attempt this year. 0 for one. Sharing coming in wide
on Barlamov. Out of the middle. Sharon Govich shoots. Misses on the glove side. That’s his go-to
move. He loves that one and he’s usually able to just rip it top corner glove side. That’s what
he is going for. Just got a little bit too much. Paul Mary one for two this season. New
York is two and0 in the shootout. Paul Mary in on Wolf. Paul Mary slows shoot.
Stopped by Wolfe with the blocker. A little bit like nets off in Washington
when he had put on the brakes and with no speed whatsoever. He’s trying to find where
the goalender is going to open up. Dustin Wolf stays on his feet. That was the key. Not
opening anything up. Straight in on Balama. Now Adik back in. Scores. What a beauty from Keno in
the shootout. Okay, those are special hands. He chose to come in quickly with speed. Slows right
down and then goes forehand backhand quickly and elevates right off the post. That is so hard to
do. Beautifully done. B Horvat for the Islanders after a sensational move from Kusmeo to give
Calgary the shootout lead. Horvat on Wolf delays shoots cut off by Wol on the glove side.
They looked to me like when Horvat came in he’s trying to make it appear as though he’s going
five hole. Wolf face up on his feet again and right there he looks as though he’s going to make
change. You know what? Dustin Wolf got that with his left pad. I didn’t see that originally.
Kirkland does he do the signature move. Kirkland in on Barlov. Scores. Signature moment from Kirkland. Does it again. And the Flames come all the way
back to win it in a shootout. Just going to try and get Barlamov to
bite on it and he does and just right at the very last second on that release
just turns the wrists over and throws the goalender. That is a gutsy win by the
Calgary Flames against the rookie Ascarov. Shen right up the middle in quickly
and it rolls off his stick and no goal. They tried to show that he was going to shoot that
puck and then he curls the stick over trying to pull it to the back end. Little bit of an angle
here. Right there. See the whoop. He’s trying to go up over the pad. He doesn’t get enough of it.
And now it’s Mal Granland for the Sharks. Crafty center iceman. Nine goals on the year and two for
two this year in shootouts. Here comes Granlin in on Bennington. Waiting and a right pad save.
Little change up shot by Granlin. Didn’t fool Bennington. Not at all. What a great job by Jordan
Bennington. Just patience, patience, patience. Look at this. Not biting. Not biting. And then he
reads that play perfectly. Gets the right pad out. And next up it’s Jordan Kyu who scored his
sixth goal of the year in the second period. On to round two. Kyro with speed again.
Stopped and start backhander saved by Ascarov. Wasn’t full by Kyro. N Jordan
does a good job of changing speeds as he gets in the offensive zone. And then
it’s tough even though they come out and they scrape the ice. It’s tough to score
on the back end with some of these shootout. So Cabbrini will shoot for the Sharks as
the rookie drifts in. Cabbrini waiting and a stick saved by Bennington. [Music] I can’t
believe Jordan Bennington stuck with that one. Celebrini was shimmy shanking the whole
way in and Jordan Bennington just didn’t bite. Stayed with the shooter all the way
across. Makes a big save. So the shootout remains scoreless. On to round three. And
Jake Neighbors hops over the boards. Can he be the hero? Neighbors comes in waiting.
Shoots. He scores. What a shot by Neighbors. That’s just great patience there. What I love
is it’s it’s cross grain for this one. So Jake Neighbors coming in here and it looks like
he’s going to pull it to his backand but no goes right back over the pad on the glove
side as Aster was getting ready to make a big push and he was caught flatfooted
there. And now Eklan must score for San Jose. William Ecklan last shooter for the
Sharks on Bennington. Here he comes. Ekan waiting and a save by Bennington. And the
Blues win it in a shootout. And Bennington ties Mike Cleote with win number 151. The
shootout. Sharon Govich against Gustoson. Sharon Govich slows it down and Gus stands his
ground with a pad stop. Gus made that look quite easy. And when you’re on top of your game and
feeling good about yourself, saves, all kind of saves look like that. Very, not a simple save,
but he made it look simple. Ready for Minnesota. Shootout specialist two years
ago. Gudrove and scores. It’s a guy playing with a lot of confidence
right now. 12 points in his last 11 games. Yeah, good for him. That’s a huge goal here
right here for the Minnesota Wild. Hangs on to the puck. Looks like he’s going
to maybe shoot top glove. Changes his mind. Turns his wrist over at the last
moment. Here’s Kusmeco for Calgary. Save by Gustoson. [Applause] And Kuzme right-handed shot. Very similar similar
play that Freddy did. just pulled it and went low blocker. Wild get the save. Calgary Flames did
not. And now Baldi can win it for Minnesota. Baldi on the attack for the Wild with a
chance to win it. A save by Lar. Yeah, Matt Baldi just tried to surprise the
goalender right there with a quick wristster. He’s got such quick hands. Saw
an opening right away. tries to beat the goalender through the wickets and Dan War
says no dice. And now Kirkland for Calgary. Augustus save can win it for the Wild. Kirkland
in on the forehand and he scores. [Music] That was the exact same move that he used in
a shootout against the New York Islanders four nights ago. The exact same play right
underneath the glove of Gusson in great position. Excellent shot there by Kirkland.
And now it’s Juel Erikson for Minnesota. [Applause] Erikson slows it down and is stopped
by Lar and the shootout moves to round four. Coming in with a fake shot right there, pulling
it to his forehand and Vidar did not bite at all on that fake shot by Erikson that allowed him to
load up that left leg because he did not bite. and now Matt Coronado the Calgary rookie in glove save Gustoson and they go to the same move right-handed
player this time trying to go to underneath the glove of Gustiffson that one directly
into his glove and throws that one back out to center as if to say I’m feeling pretty
good about my game right So is this guy Marco Rossi. Goal and an assist for Minnesota.
Rossi in with a chance to win. Saved by Blair. These two goenders going toe-to-toe right
now. Dan Blar and Philip Gustoson. Marco Rossi sliding in there. Tries to go low blocker. Nice little blocker save there by Dan. Flames going to the defenseman Rasmus
Anderson, their leading scorer on the season and he scores. Beats Gus clean. And now the
Wild need a goal to extend and they’ll go to Ryan Hartman. McKenzie Weaguer or
Anderson comes in here and just beats Gustin right through the five hole. Shot that
one. I think that one caught Gus a little offguard. Wasn’t expecting a shot from that
far out. See if Ryan Hartman can tie this up. Hartman put it just wide and the Flames win it in a shootout.
Minnesota’s comeback earns them one point and puts the Caps on a five-point
road trip in over the years in a long career. Monahan leading it off for shooter for
Columbus against Martin scores. Sean Monahan. Oh, he identified that Martin was way out
of his net here. And then as he cuts across, see how far Martin is still pretty
far out. He’s trying to match the speed of Monahan who moves him a
little bit then elevates it enough. Martine Nate just two for nine in his
career. First shooter for the Hurricanes against Makkins. Here he is. Shut down Elvis.
Mer Leakens makes the save. That’s a big save. The Blue Jackets up here after the first
round. One- nothing. And Elvis looks calm there. He stays with him the entire way.
That puck didn’t roll on Marty Nas. Little stuttering it right there. But Elvis stands
tall. Severson. Severson four for 11 in his career. Breaks down the middle against
Martin. Deep and he had it. It goes wide. So, you know, for Dean Evson, he doesn’t really
know what the guys can do, but he goes by the numbers and there he’s got Martin out of the net.
He’s just got to put it in. Oh, he just fumbled it at the end. He can’t believe it. He just
said, “I had to hold that.” Andre Spetchnikov 10 for 23. He’s got a million moves. He weaves
his way in. Spechnikov stopped by Mleakkins. Got it a little too tight. Tried to
just flip it over Elvis. And credit Elvis here. He stays with him. Locked in on
the puck and make sure he takes care of it. Didn’t bite on that fake shot. And you can
see where it hit the top of his pad. Fanti if he scores. Game over. First career suit
out attempt for Adam Fantelli. Can he win it against the Hurricanes? Round number
three. Fanti for victory. Here he is. No. Another great move here for
Fanti as Carolina stays alive. One save and the game is over for Elvis Mleakens. Elvis locked in. Look at those
eyes. Staring down Sebastian AO. AO picks off the puck and the Jackets
get the save for the win. Ao stopped by Mers Lincoln. Jackets win in the
shootout. Victory from the jaws of defeat tonight. Team high 11 goals, 25 points. And here
comes Kknney slowly meandering towards the net. and he lost the puck. Never got a clean shot away. He’s trying to get it back
to the forehand and loses it right as he comes in here trying to
cut back. First Vegas is number 16. Avalor Fibs up. Put home his team leading 11th of the season
earlier tonight. one for two in his career and he’s stopped by Fedtov who stretched out the
pass. They stayed right with Darviv on this play as he had him right on this move and
tried again. He did a good job of staying right with Dviv tried to outweight him with
the backhand. 19-year-old Matt Maykov up next. [Applause] off the post. Off the post. This one he’s going blocker side off the post. Close but for Vegas numbers
it off. Gets a little help. Jack Eel up next. 11 for 37 in his career. Post it in. Jack Eel snaps it home. And the
Golden Knights with the edge in the shootout. Oh, game of inches. Right. Mitchov posted out.
Eel posted in as he goes under the glove. Flyers need a goal here from Owen Tippet.
Ilia Samsonov’s been outstanding in this game. see if he can close out the win. Save Samson
off. How fitting is that? And the Golden Knights win it in the shootout in Philadelphia five to
four. What a game in net for Ilia Samson off. Three for three in the shootout. Oh, they do
steal it. Great job. Stays right with Tippet on this play. Moves right left. Gets that left
pad down. Nothing. Five hole. And you’re right. steals one here. Not often does a goalie give up
four, but he was their first start tonight. And he’s 0 for one. Crowd booing heavily and he lost
the puck. Got it back. Walks in and stopped by a bar if he the fact that he lost that puck.
He was still able to gather right here. Just a little slippy do kicks it up. Jurg still
had to stay with that. He tried to slide it five hole. Nice job by Branson will take the
first opportunity for the F. his first of the year. Here comes Mo Ranson. Got the go ahead at
center ice. Hill out of his crease to meet him. Branson and is in. A backhander save by Hill.
And that glove has been good all night. Sure does. Ranton and two had that puck jump on him.
Was able to gather it down and went for the old fake side and then pull it right across to the
glove. Last second. Hill doesn’t bite on that first play. The big glove eats it up. Eichel
is one for one this year. He’s next. [Applause] He takes it down the wing. I through the circle
still in. Shoots. Save by Gorgia. Huge. Gorgia does not blink. Eiko. One of the most talented
players in the game today. Comes in way wide. Takes his time just looking for a hole. Anything
Eko can see. Tries to slide it over the pack here against his hook. Here comes the reigning
MVP McKinnon. walking in, looks down the slot, holds and shoots. What a save by Hill. Boy, these
goenders, they just got nervous as Steel staying with it. McKinnon, much like Eiko, comes in,
slows it way down. Couple of stick handles, tries to get it over that left pad, maybe slide it
in the corner, and Hill just pops out the paddle. Shay Theodore, the defenseman. First of the year
for him, works it in. Theodore looks a backhand flip and another stop by Gorgia. Theodore had no
chance on this one. Came in slow, tried to go to the backhand. Watch Gorg read this the whole way.
Just back in. Yeah, we got no chance. Here comes the best defenseman on planet Earth. Kale Mar,
the third shooter, can win right here. Crowd on his feet at Ball Arena. He’s got a little
head of steam in. Backhander one of the nets. It was there. Moa just rolled off the toe of his
stick. Came in, faked the shot. Had a bunch of speed coming in unlike everybody else. Here’s the
fake shot and the backhand is there and he just doesn’t turn the toe of the stick over. Barely
misses that open. Nicholas Wall next up for Vegas. He’ll try the near side this time. Walks in
to the forehand. Save by. Holy cow has he been great. And now Casey Middlestead can win
it. GV wasn’t totally sure where this was. Big Nicholas Walk comes in and right there he’s
like just don’t slide behind me. No. Here we go. Middleton to the far side. He’s in. Casey
Middlestat holds. Holds. And a save by Hill. He ran out of room. the hands of Casey Middlestead.
I thought he almost went backwards at one point here. Comes in wide. His whole play is to try
and freeze Hill so he can go all the way across and Hill just barely waits him out. Wow, that
was a stick save. Here comes Alexander Holtz. Walks in. Holtz into the slot. Shoots. Save by
Gueorgian. Gorg just so calm and cool. hanging at the front of his crease, waiting for Holtz to
make the first move. Watch that glove come down and just shut down that right on the two. Two
train ready to depart on track three. Here he goes. Nushka swirls in top of the circles walking
down and scores. Foul Nushkin with another shot. The Avalades get the extra point in a thrilling
game. The rookies first ever National Hockey League shootout attempt and he’ll swing
in off the left side. Way out is allark. Slowing it down is cutter. Stick save by the
Ottawa neter. Yeah, veteran move by. You know, when a player comes in this slow and the
goalie goes way out to start, I I mean, it’s a it’s a head game, right? You’re you’re
trying to get the shooter to think. You don’t want to be the guy that’s reacting to him. If
you can make him react to what you’re doing, usually win the contest. Stutza career 50%
in shootouts. Swing in off the right side and do closes the five hole. Yeah, that was a a
quick little push move by Switzlers [Applause] got down in a hurry. Well, it’s been a big night
for Troy Terry so far. He doesn’t have a goal, but he has three assists. A goal right
now would be useful. Right shot swings in off the left side. Goes by hole and scores. Good patience shown by Troy here. And Omar again
because he’s way out. See that one little fake got the goalender moving. That little head
bobbed by Zegris and he slips it. Five hole. Josh Norris the next to shoot. Left hand shot and he’s going to pick it up with
speed. We’ll see if that speed continues to stall way out. Now he slows it down. He mishandles
it for a moment and that threw him off. Do got the blocker on it. Yeah. And again, Lucas
starts well out and you can see that puck kind of bouncing around and once he fumbles it once
and has to look at it, the goalender knows he’s got him. Ziggler’s going to win it right here.
Remember, he had a breakaway in overtime. The ice is not great at this juncture and the puck
flipped on him a little bit and you can see he’s in no hurry. He’s going to come in so slow. Oh my
goodness. He picks up the pace a little and scores and the Ducks win tonight in a shootout over the
Senators four to three. Ziggler slowed it down, sped it up and then decided he was just going
to go high. Omar got a piece but not enough. So here we go. And the Canadians are back first.
Patrick Line who has three goals in four games this season. 44% in the shootout in his career.
Line shooter number one in on Dostal. He scores. A bullet of a shot and the Canadians strike
first. He’s so smooth with the puck at all times. And here he just takes his time. He’s got
his head up and has a quick move to the forehand. And you can see it doesn’t go top shelf with
his shot. It goes off the pad and in past dust. Mason McTavish. Shooter
number one for Greg Burman. Stare down with [ __ ] He’ll go wide
with patience. Look for a spot. Yes. I love the change of pace here as he stops off.
He made the right move. He just missed his spot. And you know what, Joe, I’m no shoot myself. Maybe
the change of pace is great, but if you come in with a little bit more, maybe it gives the tender
little something else to think about. Cfield is 0 for one this season. 17 goals to lead Montreal
in the two-hole. Stutter step beauty Cfield. That’s quick and assertive. That’s a confident
player right there as he attacks outside the dots. Getting a look at it. Keep an eye on his
feet here. Changes pace. Get set. It’s a quick release. Troy Terry is one for one in
the shootout this season. He has dominated the game and he misses that one. Mountain gets a
piece of it. The Canadians win in the shootout. [Applause] Another home victory for the Montreal
Canadians. You can see the celebration from Monto. It was a methodical game and it was tight all the
way. defensive structure. Some massive saves by either goalender, but Montton Bowl. You can see
the smile through that mask. Tried to go five all the way up, but just had a little piece and
went wide. And if you’re a Montreal Canadians fan, I mean, the elite talent, the finishing ability,
well, you don’t always want to see a shoot up, but when it comes to it to your sharpshooters
go up, get the game done for you. Big saves by Mont. You can tell right here, it’s right
through the five hole. That’s why Terry reacts like that. He had him beat. That was the
move. It is. Tage Thompson will lead it off for Buffalo. And Sebastian Kosa. I hope he’s
got some good nerves. Here’s Tage Thompson on the rookie Sebastian Kosa. And he stops
him. Well, that’s a good start for the big guy. Thompson’s a shooter. I’m surprised he’s
Deacon. Yeah. What’s he doing? He’s a shooter. He pretty much lost control. And Lucas Raymond,
I’ll guarantee you. Well, shouldn’t do that, I guess. But Lucas Raymond has had a shot
like out of a cannon lately, and I would suspect he’s shooting the puck here. Raymond on
Rymer and scores. He digs and scores. Raymond. Well, that’s 0 for one for me on that
one. But you know what? I think Rhymer, like me, was expecting the shot and he
totally froze him. A former teammate. I’m sure they had loss in practice. Sure.
He was waiting for the shot. It never came. Mzy will tell us who he thinks has the
advantage on that one. Here comes JJ Purka. And Kosa makes the save. Sebastian Kosa two for
two in his NHL debut. Oh boy. And Mr. Buffalo himself is going to finish it off for Detroit
possibly. Here’s Patrick Kane. And look at that note. 52 shootout goals tied for most in history
with Jonathan Taves. 22 shootout deciding goals. Second of France Nielsen. Here comes Kane
to seal it and he missed. That looked like the move he had in Chicago, but he missed the
far side. Right now, it’s Lucas Raymond though with the deciding goal in this one. And it can
stand up as a deciding goal if Sebastian Kosa decides to stop Alex Tuck. Their last chance.
Tuck on Kosa. Kosa for the Red Wing win. and he can’t get that one. Tuck beats
him. We’re still even. Beautiful shot. Beautiful shot. Right hand shot. Goes to
the forehand. Not the easiest play to make, but he went quickly and then went up quickly.
And Dylan Larkin a lot of times will do the same thing from the left side of the puck as
he’s a left hand shot. Left back to forehand. The Red Wings the lead. He did it. He does.
He did it. Dylan Lin beats Rhymer and the Red Wings win it. He gets the puck. He gets the puck
for Sebastian Kosa as the Red Wings win it. 65 the final. What a crazy night. Wow. And the Red
Wings are involved in another one-goal game that never stops. But a huge comeback two-point win,
overtime or not, or shootout or not. And boy, does Larkin ever pull the string on this thing.
My goodness. Motorcycle kick. Big time fake. He’s got Rhymer right on his face. Went to retrieve
it right away for Kosa. Oh my goodness. Came in after one. Wow. And the Red Wings win by one. And
they get their first win in seven. Buffalo without one in seven. So we started off I Billy Tolvin in
against Sergey Babroski. And Babroski comes out to make the save. Yeah. And you see how far Babroski
came out Tolvin and I’m not quite sure what his strategy was here. Look at he looks off and
not really a chance. So, Lavroski does the job. Here comes the big guy looking to give
the Panthers the lead. Park sweeping in on the gore between the legs and makes the
move. My goodness. You got to be kidding me. Panther bench loves it. That was just
filthy. The court never had a chance. Look at Bararkov. Fakes like he was
going to go between the leg. its own legs and then just freezes the goalender.
Oliver Bujork strength slowly moves in and Babroski right with him all the way for
the save. Just seems like Sergey Babroski tonight he’s just reading everything perfectly
and no different on this chance here. There’s nothing to shoot at. Couple of chances for
the Panthers to win it now. Sam Reinhardt against Joey Dord. Reinhardt gets him down. Let’s
go home, baby. Sam Reinhardt. Alexander Barov do it again. And the Panthers win it. Well,
the skill on the Panthers when they get in, they they don’t get to a shootout very often. And
look at Sam Reinhardt just fakes the core goes down and now he’s a fish out of water. Stop play
during the 5minute overtime. And now a shootout starts with Nick Schmaltz against Philip Gustoson.
Schmaltz moves in. Schmaltz denied by Gustoson. Schmaltz goes to that left pad side the, you know,
the same place that he had the shot off there late in overtime. And you can see Gusison bites just a
little bit, but really good footwork to get back into position and make that left pad save. And now
Freddy Gdro goes first for the Wild. Stretches it out wide on his backand. Gro head fake denied
looking five hole. [Music] Shooting second electing to come in slowly tries to make a
fake. Valka though stays on his feet and then able to cover the five hole quickly. So now
Clayton Keller just joining us. First of all, where have you been? Second of all,
he’s a big reason we’re here right now. Two power play goals in the third tonight. Utah’s
captain Keller moves in. Stopped by Gustinson who then locates beneath. Oh, I thought that was
going to slip in. Five hole and so did the officials. They came right close to the net
before waving this off. They thought might sneak through just momentum. [Music] See, it just
Gustin just gets enough of it. He’s looking back. It has been a tensionfilled third
overtime and now shootout here at Delta Center. Matt Baldi’s up next
for Minnesota. Five for 11 you see in his career. Baldi starts out
wide. Matt Baldi backhand score. Well, that was still I mean the hands just
ridiculous on this goal. He makes Vamela move. He comes from the left side of Amela. Fakes it over
to his right. Pulls it back to his left and just no chance. [Applause] First time being involved in
a shootout since October of last season. More than a calendar year. And now it’s up to Nick Buchad
after Baldi puts Minnesota on top. Gustoson stars him down. Buchad moves in. Oh, and it’s off the
iron. It’s over. Minnesota wins it in a shootout. A right shot. He approaches Doall who creeps out
of his crease. Comes in off right wing. slows it down and hits the side of the net as Lucas gave
him nothing. Absolutely nothing. Schmaltz lost his speed and Lucas was perfectly positioned at
the top of the goal crease and eventually he had no angle whatsoever. Great patience from Dost.
Here’s who the Ducks do have to shoot in the shootout. Troy Terry and he’ll go first. The right
shot swinging in wide off left wing approaches Jackson Stalbert who got a piece. He tried to go
high glove. It looked like right-handed shot. He goes to the little push move there. I don’t
know if Stabber got a piece of it or not. So Clayton Keller, Mr. Everything for
this hockey club. Not only their captain, but an ever dangerous offensive force comes with
speed. Will he keep the speed as he’s in on do stall? He does. And he scores. No, he hit the
crossbar. The fans thought he scored. It went off the crossbar and out. They’re blowing the horn.
They’re giving him a check mark on the scoreboard, but the referee says no. This one is all
about the plumbing. Oh boy. It hits the bottom of the crossbar and bounces right across
the goal line and may have even hit Lucas in the right pad. He gave it to JS Chagar, too.
Did you see that? That’s awesome. Yeah, you’re I think you’re right. I think it hit
the back of his pad on the way down and still stayed out. I think they’re looking at this.
Yeah, Steve Kazari was over at the scorers bench and now he says we’re good to go. It’s
an X, not a check mark on the scoreboard here at Delta Center. And here’s Brock McInn in
the shootout. I don’t know what to expect. We’ve never seen him in a shootout. He
comes in with speed and Stabber denies. Stabber just kind of filled that net. Brock
McGillic. See how far the goalender was out. I mean, it’s tough to score when you’re shooting
and that goalender’s two feet in front of the blue paint. Nick Buchat missed the first eight
games of the season due to injury. And the lanky veteran approaches Lucas Doall. Glove save. Lucas
deflecting it over top of the net. And now Anaheim can win this thing in a shootout. Let’s see if he
gets a piece of this or if Buchad just airmails it. I think he just air mails it right over
the crossbar. Tavage can end this right here. I thought Lucas got a piece with the glove. But
now Mason, who played a great deal in overtime, very calmly picks it up at center ice. The game
on his stick. Can the Ducks complete the comeback? Yes. Mason McTavish shelfs it. The dads and the
Ducks celebrate two points at Delta Center. What a comeback. What a strange game. Anaheim can’t get
anything going on the power play. They didn’t need it. Well, they did get the one power play goal
to tie it and they get it in overtime with a shootout win. Mason McTavish is your hero. Lucas
Dost Stella a tip of the cap to him as well. John slowly almost unfairly moving in on the
goalender and a quick little snapshot just over the pad under the glove and the Ducks
2 and 0 this year against Utah. Monahan getting us started 39. Just had a breakaway.
Let’s see what he does on this one. 39% in his long career. He’s in and it just goes
wide off of Kachchov. Didn’t go for speed. Didn’t go for power. Went for accuracy here. He tries
to drag Coach off a little bit. Coachov moves a tiny bit, but then he tries to go over that
glove. Ooh, that was closer than it looked. How about the rookie Jackson Blake? This
is his first career shootout attempt. He goes one-on-one against Elvis. Blake in on
goal. Lost control. It’s kept out and lost. Lost himself there. He looked like he had a good
move. Set up, but then as he cut back right there, he lost the puck. His dad was really good at
the shootouts. Jason Blake. David Severson gets a chance. Saw him before from
Dean Evans. He’s 33% in his career. picks up the bucket. Center ice. Round number
two. Damon Severson in on goal and a diving picette. Straight out of the 80s. Didn’t see that
coming. Neither did Damon Severson. It looked like soon as he looked checked down right there. He
makes his move. Go check off is at the hash marks from my angle. Looked like Severson might have
had a short side shelf shortside shot a little earlier than that. But what a play by Cochov.
See what Elvis does here. Andre Spetchnikov is an impressive 10 for 24 in his NHL career.
He weaves his way in. Spec fires and scores. Pretty confident play there from the
skilled forward from Carolina. See, he’s weaving now. He sets that shot. Didn’t
waste any time once he set it. It’s a low snap. Wow, Ken Johnson. He’s creative. Jackets need a goal from KJ. He’s one
for four in his career. Trying to keep it going. Kent Johnson dances
in. He scores. Kent Johnson. Oh, Coachov here not as aggressive with the poke
check, but you see him as soon as he slides his hand up that stick, Ken Johnson slides it through
the wickets. Good heads up play by Kent Johnson. Next up and for victory is Seth Jarvis. 0 for
five in his career. If he scores the Canes win it. Jack is in the save from Mleakkins.
Jarvis is in. Dances. Lost control. We’ll go to round four. Went to the back hand there
and Elvis versus Lincoln stayed with him. Looks like he’s going to go forehand there. No, little
fake. Elvis bites, but then he collects himself. Bantilio for one this year. He
kicks us off with round number four against Kachkov. Vantilli in
makes the move and scores. Bantelli. Oh, it’s a really direct play here. He’s
shaking a lot, but he goes five hole. He pulls him open just enough right there. And
it’s hard right to the back of the net. And now the Jackets get a save from Elvis Mleakkins.
They will be victorious. Sebastian Ao 25% of his career. He comes in with speed. AO denied by
Murakens. This one is over. The Blue Jackets will begin the new year with a huge shootout
victory. The shootout will start with Dylan Stro shooting for Washington against Mark Andre Flurry. Stro moves in and FY outweights him and makes
the stop. So patient in there was Mark Andre Flurry. Kind of got out on top of the paint a
little bit later than I would have liked but just stays patient right there and nothing for
Dylan Stro to shoot at. And Matt Zukarelloo is the first to shoot for Minnesota. Zukarelloo
against Lindren. Lingren got a piece of it to flex it wide. Now, we’ve seen that play
before from Matt Zukarella where he comes in with the stick right out in front of him and
he likes to just show shoot top glove actually, but there’s a blocker because he catches with his
right hand. A little bit different look there for Matt Zukarelloo. Nice save there by Charlie
Lingren. Pierre Luke Dubois for Washington. Dubois drives in with speed. Pad save Flurry. again. Almost an instant replay there. Mark Andre
Flurry getting out there just a little late, but does not bite at all. Stays patient.
Uh-oh. He’s heading to the bench right here, but this is Mark Andre Flurry getting out here
a little late. Here’s Matt Baldy for Minnesota. Baldi scores and the Wild are a save
away from a come from behind win in Washington. Matt Baldy coming in nice
and slow, beating the goalender right below the glove. And what a big goal in
this game right here if Mark Andre Flurry can shut the door on the great eight.
See if he can get some revenge. Well, here is the matchup everybody in the building
came to see. Alex Ovetkin against Mark Andre Flurry. Hall of Famer v Hall of Famer. Ovetkin in
glove save. Flurry. And it’s a win for the Wild. Look at the Wild players jumping
off the bench to go congratulate the Hall of Famer. They knew what was
at stake there at the end. Great call, partner. Two Hall of Famers. It doesn’t get any
better than this. fakes with the poke check, gives him the top glove and takes it away.
He might he might have scored earlier in the game and got the best of Mark Andre Flurry, but
when the game mattered the most in the shootout, Mark Andre Flurry delivered. Huge two
points here for the Wild to start this road trip. And he’ll go up against Kevin
Lanken. New York strip in off the left. And he put it wide. Forced to put it wide.
Might have ticked off the pad of Lank. He’ll put the left leg up. And Borkstrand is now
6 for 23 in his career. Tried to go to the forehand and over the pad. Gets in a little tight.
Lanken. It’s got it blocked off. And here’s JT Miller. [Applause] Miller had an assist on Meyer’s
goal in the third period. He’s over for one this season and he’s what a 30% shootout shooter
in his career. He’s in off the left as well. Scores connect first blood. It really takes no
time for the puck to zip off his stick. He comes off the left severe angle and then over the pad
under the glove. The Conucks have a onezip lead in the shootout on Miller’s goal. Ko Ko Kako
likes the backhand deique. See what he does. Back hand deep and he put it wide again. Lankin
had it covered. Even if he got the wrong goal, I’m not sure was going in. Mano goes to the deep, but Lankin is just so sure of where he wants
to be in the net. He slides with him. No look. Can Jake de Bruss can end this little
flipper up over the glove to Bruss and this will continue as the Brusk is one for two
on the season now. Tried to drag it and go up over the glove. Just didn’t quite get it high
enough. It’s a good stop by Threw. He wants to go higher. Doesn’t get there. Now the game is up
for grabs here for Matty Baneers. He must score. one for seven in his career. And he stopped by
Lincoln and the Conucks win. Seattle with another third period comeback, but this time the Conucks
wouldn’t let them get to the finish line. Kevin Lankin, who came on in relief of Thatcher Demco
in the second period, able to shut the door all three shooters and the Conucks win four to three.
Baneers who scored in the third period tries to go low glove. That’s a quick release by Baneers and
an even quicker left leg by Kevin Lanken. And man, Lanken has been terrific. He was excellent in the
second period when he came in in the shootout. He knocks away three straight and the Canucks after
a New Year’s Eve loss. Game one of 2025 is in the books and it’s a win here in Seattle. Al Malin
this year is one for two. They usually go with him. Crosby, Raquel. Panthers will start it off.
Barkoff this year two for two. He and Reinhardt are always the shooters for the Panthers. So here
we go in the shootout. Barkov trying to start it off for the Panthers and Jarry makes the stop.
Tried to go in on from the right side and drag it over and and hopefully Jarry just overplays
the puck. We don’t think Barkov got enough wood on that to get the goal. Raquel went for three
this season. Jarius, his first shootout this year. Raquel got the power play goal in the
final minute to send us to overtime to the backand and Knight stayed right with
him. That’s the key is make sure that the shooter makes the first move. And Raquel, look
at that concentration, focus there by Spencer Knight. Just came across and allowed his reflexes
to make the save. All right, here’s Reinhardt. One for two this season. Round number two of the
shootout. Yes, Sam Reinhardt fires it home. When you’re in that close, you got
to make sure that you get that puck as elevated as possible. And that’s
exactly what Reinhardt did. Well, not his first rodeo. The 117th shootout
attempt in Sydney Crosby’s 20-year career against 23-year-old Spencer Knight. Crosby
Knight is right there. Oh, big Spence. calm and cool against one of the best in the game
ever. And Spencer Knight again waits for Crosby to make the first move and then gets the blocker on.
Anton Lundell has been good in his career trying to earn the Panthers the extra point. Landell
Anjari. Let’s go, baby. Lundelle ends it and the Cats win it. Chicken coops and rubber boots.
Anton Lundell is playing some of the best hockey of the season. And look at he just beats Jarry.
The second time the Panthers went on that blocker side. Reinhardt right before him and ends it in
the shootout. Well, here we go with a shootout in Denver. Cole Coughfield will shoot first on
McKenzie Blackwood. Blackwood 0 and2 in the shootout this season. Coughfield one and two on
the season as he cuts in, slows down and scores. 21 goals on the season and he’s got one in the
shootout here as he’s going to cut across and wait out Blackwood. And he just just just over
that pad and below the blocker the sweet spot. Jonathan Duan for the AS Druan eight for 30 in
his career on Donovish in his first shootout and he makes a great club save. Well, Drew, such a
shifty guy and he elects to come down the right side and as he cuts in, he goes back to the
backhand quickly thinking he’s got Dolvish, but he leaves that glove right in the right
place. What a glove save by Dovish. Now it’s Nick Suzuki 0 for one on the season as the
captain is 11 for 27 in his career. Cuts wide, gets in the slot, waits, and he lost it on the
backand as he tried to tuck it in. He had him. He had him and he knows it. This is a gutsy call
to pull this thing across on your backhand right there. It’s a sweeping pull and he just couldn’t
control it as Blackwood he he he was pushing that right leg back out. There wasn’t as much
room as I thought. Nico Ransin now 0 for one on the season. Eight for 26 in his career.
Waits do weights him out and makes the save. What a cool cucumber is Dobish as he tracks him
across as Randon goes leg kick. Wait, wait, wait, wait. And the kid doesn’t bail on it. He stays
with him the whole way across. He had nothing. Kirby Doc with a chance to win it for Montreal.
Three for five in his career. All three goals have been gamedeciding goals and winners in the
shootout. Can he make it four? Doc scores. He does. Canadians win it in the shootout. And what
a holiday road trip for Montreal as the Avalanche suffer their first loss in overtime or a shootout
this season as Montreal ends their win streak at six games for the Avalanche. Well, 160 and0 when
leading after two are the Avalanche. And there’s a blemish tonight as Kirby Doc, I mentioned how
much confidence he’s gained on this road trip in the last 10 or 12 games he’s played in. And this
is a big goal for the Canadians. And they just had a gutsy performance here. All right, Tage
Thompson will be first out of the gate here for Buffalo. He scored his 19th of the season
back in the second period, a power play goal. And the shootout begins. Ta Thompson from left
to right takes the puck at center in over the line glides to the circle far side between the
circles of the shot and a pad save by Lingren. Thompson just working his way in there and
I I think he was waiting for Lingard to open up do something but he just stays on his
feet stays tall. Tries to go back across the far side there and he just gets a left pad
on. Keeps it out for number. So Pier Dubois, a former Blue Jacket firstrounder in
2016. He shoots first for Washington. Look at it in above the blue
paint. Dubois walks in, scores. He just comes in on cuts in the middle
on his forehand and just a quick shot. You see that really quick release
there beats Lukan on the blocker side. Shooting second for the Sabres.
Number 22, Jack Quinn. Jack Quinn is a shooter. And let’s see. The Sabres need one
here. It won’t end it if they don’t get it, but it certainly makes life a lot better.
Quinn between the circles. Face backhand. Lindren gets a glove on it. And he’s
stopped the first two Buffalo shooters. And now the game is on the stick of the
capital shooter. Dylan Stro’s coming in. Gopeka Lucin will be called
upon to make a must stop here against Stro. Takes a puck at center. Come
near side this time. Walk it in. Stro holds it and a save by Lucan. And Saber still in
it here. Nice job by Lucan and keeping his body up right there. He’s down but he’s there’s
really nowhere to shoot. He’s taking so much of the net away. Stro comes down on his strong
side, cuts into the middle, and then tries going back across. But you see where Lukan’s out.
He’s almost to the top of the blue paint there, and there’s not a lot to look at. Number 89, Alex.
Alex Tuck at center ice. Sabres need a goal from number 89 near circle. Tuck walks in face deep,
scores. Alex Tuck tucks it in and the shootout. Now this is an aggressive power move right
here by Alex Tuck coming in on his strong side. He changed his direction three times right
there. In gets a piece of it with his stick, but he just powers that one through and it
gets underneath his stick across the line. Carlson against Lucin. [Applause] Sabres need
a save from their goender. Carlson to the near circle between the circles. Kick save and a
beauty by Lucin and this is a 1-1 shootout. We are heading to extra innings here now. JJ
Purk is coming up. Looks like Carlson looking to go five hole there on Lucin and he’s able to
get that left pad on it. Number 77, JJ Purka. JJ takes the puck from center slowly across the
line. One hand on the stick now too as he works his way in. Scores. JJ jammies that one into
the back of the net and the Sabres get their second of the shootout. Great patience here by
Peter. comes down the side, cuts into the middle, and that puck is just perfectly placed just just
over the top of that left pad inside the post, but it was quick and hard. Number six, Cherin and
Lucin. Mono Amano here in the shootout. Lucin, if he can stop this one, Sabres will get the
point. Cher walks in. Lucin stays with it. Yes, he did. Save by Lucin. Sabres gets the two points. He’s just waiting for something to happen. A
little stutter step right there. But look at how Lukan gets across the ice from his left across
to his right and able to make this save. And once again, EPL does it for the Sabres. Johnson two
for five in his career. First shooter skates in against Tristan Jar. He scores. Kent Johnson.
One nothing in the shootout for the Jackets. A confident play there, Kent Johnson. Unique
little sweep of the stick right there. Kept it way out in front of him and just slid it five. Almost
slinged it there between the legs. Rust is very good. Six for 10. Here he is. Denied by Mleakens.
Oh, confident save there by Elvis. Mleakens. Stays up tall and takes it right off the pad. Russ
tries to pull with a quick shot right there. Adam Fantelli is next. Remember that shootout
goal he scored against the Carolina Hurricanes. The thing of beauty. Can he make it two nothing?
He’s in on goal. Fantelli off the post. Quick hands here by Adam Fantelli. Beats Jarry but he’s
a little frustrated because it goes right off the post. Cindy Crosby. What’s Crosby got? Usually
a shooter. He’s 39% in his Hall of Fame career. He’s got a good backand too. Going to take it
wide. Cutting on in. Crosby lost control. And the Jackets have a chance for victory. Marchenko
is going to come out. Crosby gets it a little too in tight. Waiting for Elvis to flinch there and
just loses the puck. Can he do it? Can he end it here in Pittsburgh? Carill Marteno for the win.
skates in on goal. He scores. Carill Mart and goal. Ends it tonight in Pittsburgh. The streak
is history. The Jackets have come back to win it. Well, great effort here. Team effort by the Blue
Jackets in Pittsburgh. The first time since 2015, they’ve won here. And the Blue Jackets come
back down by two goals in the third period and the first win in Pittsburgh since November 13th,
2015. The team is the IGS performer tonight here in Pittsburgh. He will be the first shooter. He
was the only Montreal player to find the back of the net so far tonight. He’ll go a little
wide. Curl back in and Anger with the save. Make sure he has it and he does. Across the goal
line froze for a second there. Line A comes in all syrupy and you could read that pretty quick
that he was going to pull it to the forehand and try to snap it. Read it and met it. There might
not be a better leadoff man in the shootout in the league than Jason Robertson. Feels like he’s
been automatic. He’ll start on the left against Montenbo. He scores perfectly into the corner.
The man cannot be stopped. I don’t know why. Like, watch Montenbo’s glove. He knows he’s going to
come in and try to flick high glove. I mean, he does it every time. It’s like a mind melt. It
looks so easy and it’s so deadly. Cfield trying to answer the leading goal scorer for Montreal.
He goes way wide left almost to the boards back in and made the save on the intight move. Quick
hands trying to get it underneath the boter. This is really kitty caddy from the Stars net minder.
The great patience. You can see him on his edges there. You know, Cfield threw every move he had
at him trying to get him to bite big and open up. Stars can end it here. Wyatt Johnston a goal
to win it in Montreal. Johnston off the bar and it stayed out. Appeared to graze Montbo on the
way back out and it wouldn’t fall in. I would have bet money he was going high glove again.
Montbo out on his angle. The only spot I think was the pipe back in. Got a little touch just
enough of it I think to send it off the pipe. Canadian’s captain Nick Suzuki trying to extend
it. Needs to score to keep things going. He’ll take the winding route from the near circle.
Save by Anger. The fist pump and Dallas gets the victory. They’ve won seven in a row and they
outlast the Canadians 2-1 tonight at Bell Center. That’s a great mix to have Robertson out of
the one hole to give the goalender the lead and Jake Autinger perfection in the shootout as he
just waits. Wonderful patience. The Stars extend the lead and just a supreme performance in he
approaches Knight to the backhand to the forehand. Made it look easy. What a move by Connor to give
the Devils the shootout lead. Well, when we talk about when we talk about skill, we talk about
magic and we talk about bag of tricks. Well, he pulls out a few tricks here. There’s a pump fake,
a kickstart, and a hard fake to the back end and a jock strap up in the rafters next to Kendanico’s
jersey. That’s what happens when skill personified takes over in an NHL shootout. Here comes Barky,
the captain. Bark off for the equalizer. Scores. Saw. Oh boy. A little daylight inside the
post and not the shootout at one. Yep. Low and slow. He comes in here. He’s got that long
reach. Keeps it out wide. Freezes Markstrom. He’s got no chance on that. Such a tough
play when you got a big guy like that. Jerp experienced in the shootout as you
can see. his 27th career attempt. Lifted it over the bar. Yes, Brat looking to
freeze Spencer Knight here and then just get this over his glove with a light backhand flip,
but gets under this puck a little bit here. So, you can see it. Walks in, goes forehand,
and just tries to elevate it over the glove, but looks like it may even have scraped the
crossbar there. Last year’s second leading goal scorer in the NHL behind Austin Matthews.
Here’s Reinhardt stopped with the stick by Jacob Marstrom. Only fitting that Marky makes the
big save against right now the league’s best goal scorer in Sam Reinhardt comes in here on his
forehand with some speed. Doesn’t Rick really make too much of a move here. Just looking to freeze
him and beat him on the low glove side. Now Jack Hughes to give the Devils the lead. denied. It
looked like Knight was able to close the door with the blocker and now a chance for Lundell
to win it for Florida. Jack comes in here and looking to go low blocker and the puck just seems
to bounce up on him a little bit. A little slow on his release. Lundell with a chance to to win
it here. Anton Lundell on Marstrom goes wide. stays on the forehand and scores. Anton Lundelle
pecks the corner and in a shootout for the fourth time this season, the Panthers get an extra point.
Big big points for the Florida Panthers. Much much needed win against a team that they could see in
the playoffs. Not having getting a win against the New Jersey Devils this year. This a big
one for them. two for two this year. I don’t know what he’s thinking against 6’7 Ivan Fedah
Johnson leading us off scores again three for three Ken Johnson and it’s quick it’s along
the ice and it’s a five hole he sets a table here all the stick handling little shiftiness
and he doesn’t hesitate as he gets it way out front it’s a flick and Pedotov goes for the poke
check and as soon as Johnson sees it he slides it right through now the top player for the Flyers
Travis Kenkne 22% in his career. Slowly skates it against Terasaw. Makes his move. Flips it off the
post. Oh, he had him beat. What a creative move. That was almost Datsuki. It was
exactly what I was going to say. Draws him across. The big man goes down.
Now he drags him and it’s a flip. Oh, that close. It might have caught a
little piece of Terasoft’s glove there. Next up, it’s Adam Fantelli. Round number two.
Fanty digs and stopped by Fedto. Another low shot. You can see where they’re trying to
go here on Fedotov. He’s actually staring down Fanty sets the table. Tries to slide it
across the ice there. And Fedotop with the eyes. There’s the phenom. Matt B Mechov one for
three in his young NHL career trying to tie it up for the Flyers here. Bottom
of the second. Mechov dances in post check by Terasov. Oh, he had him. It
looked like he had him at one point, but Terasoft with a big strong arm here.
And an extra move from Mishkov right there. Good job by Terasov in desperation. And
then he sends his fellow countrymen down. Carel for the win. When he scores, it’s over.
Look at Barack off here on the bench with Cylinger Delu. He ended the shootout in Pittsburgh. Three
for five in his career for victory. Mareno scores. Mareno. An incredible goal in
the shootout. The attack has come back and defeat the Flyers.
They’ve won five straight games. And you think they don’t know what Terasaw’s been
through. He went down to the miners. He comes in tonight and gets the victory. A 3-2 shootout
win against the Philadelphia Flyers. And it’s all smiles and a little relief for that man as
he wins it in the shootout here. Two big saves, two big goals by the Blue Jackets in the shootout.
And two massive goals by Zach Waransky as you see a little throw there. Creative Nissan move of the
game by Marenko. He’s going to let one hand off the stick and just guide that puck right through
the five hole here and the Blue Jackets get the two points in the shootout. What a night here
for this team. and he will be the first shooter tonight. Here comes Gensel in on Dosto scores.
He’s a shooter and there’s no surprise there. So he comes in. Do is like, “Yeah, I missed that
one.” He lost his positioning there and seemed to get surprised by when the shot came. He was in the
middle and really nice job by Gensel to let him float. Oh, it actually went fivefold. I thought
he’d beaten them short side, but he ripped that one right on the ice before he could get down.
Speaking of ripping one, Leo Carlson also has a goal tonight and he will shoot first for and
he can’t get a shot away. He had him beaten. Vashi is going the wrong way. And Carlson’s got
some nasty moves. This one got away from him. Yikes. But got to say Bowsy made him do it too
quick. He was moving too quick and he couldn’t pull it off. Here’s points. Braen points
straight up the middle. Points stopped by the stall. Went for the just basic move fake. A
little forehand shot. They go to the back end. really good on the back end cuz he has that toe
curve and the rest of the stick is really flat. He can get it airborne quickly but he just missed.
So here’s Mason Mcavish with a chance to tie it for the Ducks taking his time. McTavish in stopped
by Vaselki. Either is really tired or this is his usual move but you could have timed this attempt
with a calendar. I very rarely see these work. I’m not sure why guys do them, but hey, everybody’s
got their thing. And the crowd gets up. And here comes Nikita Cucharov. He can put them ahead
here. He can win it right here. Cucharov stopped by Dostal. Boy, do looked really sharp all game
long. Cooch gives him a really good fake like he’s going to shoot. [Music] only frozen for a
quarter of a second here. Look how low he is. Holy mackerel. He’s ready to explode either way. And
body reaction was great. Troy Terry has to score. This one’s over. Terry in on Vaselki. Sapped by
Vaselki. And the Lightning win. minutes. [Music] Took a little longer than they would have
liked, but Andre Basilki three for three in the shootout. Great stick. Great stick
there. That’s what does it approaches slowly, drifts way out to the wing. Crowd
on their feet. He scores. [Applause] seemed to put everybody to sleep and then
strike slow to the outside and then watch him just quick Hanzo at the end. He just
pulls it and then catches Solder Bloom going down with that slow approach but
quick accurate shot there by Nyquist. Now Tavine Finn versus Finn. Terrain a quicker
approach. Sorrows Isaac and he ties it up. took a different approach. He came in with
speed and then just did a little shoulder little shoulder fake and shot in stride there and he gets
to the outside. That just buys enough time as you see Juice. He’s trying to stay patient. He did
that quick little hand fake and then shot right after and followed it up and just didn’t have time
to react. Now it is Ryan O’Reilly in round number two. He’ll come in from the near side. Brings
it back to the middle. He scores. two for two and he comes in a little fast then slows
down and it’s all about the quick hands. Quick little fake to the backand pull to the
front quick in one motion and lift him elevated up over the path. Nice slick move there by
O’Reilly. Here goes Bard. The fans giving it to him. Bard has a shootout goal against
the Predators in his career. Here he comes with speed against Sorrows. Trying to even up
this shootout. He is stopped by Jussi Sorrows trying to come in with speed and then he slams
on the brakes here and then goes really slow and then he’s going to use his quick hands and he
even waited a second to try to see if Juice would open up there and got the pads and stick down.
Have to save that one here. Game on the line. Stamp coast. Van Co’s first shootout attempt as a
Nashville Predator. He approaches. He scores. Yes, sir. Round three for three and they win it.
And this is a goal scorers goal right there. You’re not stopping that. You saw Look at
Solder drop his shoulder. Once he did that, it was game over. This is a goal scorer that
just executes head up the whole way and then makes a beautiful shot. Sodestrom just had to
look behind him and throw in the towel. What a shot there. What a shootout. We got ourselves
a five tie and a shootout. And how that didn’t get solved in the overtime guards, I have no
idea the number of chances that were there. So Tim Stutzel will shoot first for Ottawa. Ottawa
0 and one in the shootout this year. This is the first shootout for the Bruins this season. And
Tim Stutzla will start it off against Swayman. Cuts wide right gets in the slot. Wade strains
it. Scores trying the poke check. Couldn’t get it. And Stutzler burries it. Well, that’s some
crazy patience for Stutzla as he cuts across. I think he’s going to jam the five hole and I
think Swayman does too. So he puts the stick down to cover the five hole and then when he
realizes he’s not he tries to get the stick out to kind of reverse poke check him. Nice goal
by Stutzel. Charlie Coyle the first shooter for Boston against Maryland. And Coyle goes to
the forehead back and he’s stopped by Marilyn. Well, the patience of Marilyn as Coyle cruises
in right to left, tries to get to the backand and get over the pad of Marilyn and he makes the
save. Now Drake Pathther, the second shooter for Ottawa. Bath into the slot and he can’t
put that one through the pads and swimming. I thought he was going to do the
same thing as Stutela and wait it out going the other way. Take it farther
farther out and try to go upstairs. He tries to go quickly and Swayman shuts it
down. David Posternok second shooter from Monster gets in forehead and can’t slide it
through the pass of Carolina with a little stare over at him as he tries to
make it look like he’s going to fire it and then let it slide through the five hole
right there. Just let it slide through. Look at Carolina looking at him like
don’t bring that stuff to me. Close Sheru with a chance to win it for Ottawa.
Garu waits and he’s stopped by Swayman. Oh, nice right leg save there on Jaru by
Swayman. And this is all going to come down this last shot. And the pressure is on Pavl Zaka
who’s had a pretty good run the last two games. Za cuts in on Carolina. Zaka stop wins it
in a wild here in the nation’s capital. It is hard to believe with five minutes to go
the Senators were down five to three. pulled the goalie twice, got two big goals from Jensen
and Norris. A crazy overtime with tons of chances and it comes down to a shootout and a beautiful
goal by Tim Stol. Carolina shuts the door on the Bruins and they came out with an incredible 65
win in overtime and gained ground on the Boston Bruins. And here we go to a shootout. This is one
of those games you just shake your head. It’s Oh, man. It’s been something. All right, Columbus 4
and0 in shootouts this season. This is the first Rangers shootout. Terasoff is 1 and0 in shootouts
this season. Mleakkins has the other three wins. Paneran will start it off. The Rangers chose
to shoot first. Paneran breaks in, slows down, fake fakes, and no, it hit the crossbar. Stayed
out. He waited about as long as he could, and he finally got Terasoft to go down to
the ice. Fake shot. Terasoft goes down and then there it is just off the post. Kent
Johnson for Columbus. weaves his way in on Shurkin and a save by Schistin. Johnson
had been three for three in shootout. Yeah, he kept Shester Sturkin kept his stick
on the ice as Johnson tried to beat him through the legs with a quick shot. up
for the Rangers. Vincent Troche number starts off slowly, swings wide,
cuts in and shoots and scores. He almost ran into the boards on the other
side. He went so wide and then cut across. Oh, watch him pull the puck and he fools Terasoft.
Terasoft thought he was going the other way. Adam Fantelli for Columbus. Cuts in. Look, fakes,
fakes, misses. I think Sturken might have got a stick on that. I think he might have deflected
it. Let’s see if he reaches out with the stick. Just gets a piece of it. Ma Zaban Jad is up.
He can win it for the Rangers. If he scores, it’s over. Zabajad. Save made by Terasov. So now if Igor Sturken can make
a save, the Rangers will win. Marenko is up for Columbus. Here it is. Marenko
moves in and saves to Sturken. Rangers win. Igor Shester Sturkin with a brilliant shutout
performance. He made 27 saves in regulation in overtime and then he made a couple of big ones
in the shootout. So Neighbors the first shooter tonight against Hill. He goes wide. Neighbors
comes in, he scores right through the five hole and the Blues get the first shootout goal. Uh
Jake Neighbors, remember the last shootout he uh scored a goal for the Blues and he takes the same
pattern in and the last time he went low blocker and I think Hill may have been thinking that Jake
Neighbors closes that up after and goes five hole. Put the Blues up one- nothing here in the shootout
and Victor Olivesson will shoot for Vegas. And he comes in on Bennington.
Olafson waiting and a save by Bennington. He got across and got
the arm up. That’s a nice save by Jordan Bennington. Quite patient on this
one. Watch goalender. Patient, patient, and he gets that leg and that arm out there. So
Shen will be the second shooter for the Blues. And he could make it really
tough for Vegas with a goal here. Shen again. He comes in, waiting, shoots.
He scores. Shen. And the Blues have scored two straight in the shootout. And now one
save from Bennington will seal the deal. But what’s interesting is Braden Shen takes
a very similar path as Jake Neighbors. And he goes glove on this one. Right there over
the pad, under the glove. Jack Eel must score to extend it. Here’s Ekeel in. Waiting,
waiting, and he scores. What a move by Eel. Wow. Well, that right there just wasn’t very
nice at all by Jack Eel. What a move. Patience. He’s got that long reach, too. That’s what
makes it so hard for the goalenders. One, he handles a puck so well. Two, he’s got that long
reach. Not much for B to do. So Holloway with a chance to win it for the Blues. Here he comes.
Holloway shoots it high and that’s wide. And now the Knights a chance to tie it with their final
shooter. It’s going to be Doraf too who has been hot. He tied the game at 1931 and he’s got a good
shot. Must score on Bennington. Here he comes. Dorif waiting and a poke check and a save by
Bennington at the goal line and the Blues win in a shootout. The final score tonight 54 as
Bennington makes the pad save on Dorafia. What a save by Jordan Bennington. Is Doria really
going in slow being patient? Jordan Bennington and Conor McDavid as the Oilers choose to go
first. Why not? McDavid been known to score a little bit. He’s got the puck, walks in on Lion,
backhander, and a great save. Oh my. He stretches that left toe out and stops Conor McDavid and
continues his incredible. This is like a wall play so far in this one. A great save. I love the
patience by Alex Lion on that one. He outweighed McDavid and he’s able to get that left pad on the
on the puck there. Keep that one out of the net. Lucas Raymond. First round for Detroit.
After the great save by Lion. Now Raymond will test Skinner. Angling right in with
a shot. He scores. Lucas Raymond tucked it inside the right goal post and the Wings
lead it one to nothing through round one. Nice shot by Raymond. He starts out really wide
here and he starts going slow. Puts it right under the glove of Skinner. Sometimes that messes
up the goalies when you go that slow. Nan Hopkins for Edmonton. Right in shot. Never got it off. He
panned on it. Did you fan on that? He did. Wow. What about that one? I think he was right with him
though. He brings it. Yeah. He doesn’t even get a shot off. Wow. You don’t see that too often. Not
from a player like that, but if you’re Alex Lion, you’ll take it. And Larkin a chance to win it.
If he scores here to try a four straight win. Lin score. Dylan Larkin in the wings of four and
a roll. And what a start to the road trip as they knock off the Oilers by a final of three-2 in the
shootout. Raymond and Lurin. Start of the season for New Jersey. Raquel very good in his career.
40% in the shootout. He comes in slow and scores. Wow. I I didn’t think he had much to shoot at.
Very to shoot at is right, Bryce. From up top, it didn’t look like that. The angle he put
himself on, but there’s that pace and slow, slow, and just inside the post, glove hand side.
Wow. All right. Paul Carter’s going to start for New Jersey. He’s one for one this season. He comes
in with a full head of steam. Deaks and scores. That’s filthy. Yeah, he’s so good. Absolutely
filthy by Paul Carter to tie this game up in the shootout. They’ll tie the shootout out, shall
I say? Two guys doing it entirely differently. Raquel went slow. Carter went quick. And now
Sydney Crosby following the same flight path as Raquel to start. He gets to the inside
and Daw turns him away. Nice. Nice. Well, Daw this time waited Crosby out. Really good save
there by Daw on the great Sydney Crosby. We know that’s a highlight moment for him. Yeah, blocker
save. Crosby tries to go against the grain. Here comes Jack Hughes. He has scored twice today.
Goes hard fanned on it and we stay tied at one. Well, tough break there for for Jack
Hughes as he tries to get it to the forehand with the quick snap, but he just
just bobbled it. Brian Rust on Nico Daw and Daw gloves it. Nothing fancy there from
Rust. Daw was ready for the quick shot. Oh, and Daw coming up big. [Applause] Jasper Brat has
a chance to win it for New Jersey. Get a big two points in Pittsburgh. Brat cuts in Delovic makes
the save. Did that go through the five hole? Yeah, he tried to fool him and he almost did. I
think it caught the inside of the skate. Yeah. Right through. He had the five hole. It’s Anthony
Bavilier in round number four for Pittsburgh. Oh, what a move. Bavilier scores. Now the Devils need
one to extend the shootout. Yeah, that’s that’s a nice nice move by Bavilier, but Brat had it. He
had the win and that’s now Douge has to score to keep it going. Douggee Hamilton looking to
extend this to a fifth round. The defenseman cuts in. He looks, he shoots, he scores. Nice,
nice, nice. Douggee Hamilton keeps him alive. Well, Douggee Hamilton found the five hole there,
Bryce, as he goes wide to the right, pulls that puck back to the middle, drags Melkovic and buries
it. Kevin Hayes scored for Pittsburgh. Daw denies it with the glove. All right, win this for Doy
now already. That’s a that’s a beauty. What a save by Daw. Kevin Hayes is real good at this.
He’s got great hands, that long reach, deception, and Daw comes up big. Tomas Tatar with a chance to
win it for the Devils. [Applause] In round five, Tatar stops. Heavic gets a pat out. Wow. Oh, this
is a pretty good move by Tatar. And a really good save again. Look at Tatar go to the forehand. He
just has to wait it out a little longer. That’s a heck of a save. Chris Latang’s a career 31.8%
shooter in the shootout. Couple of deeps. He can’t beat Daw. This is This is tense. Beautiful
right pad save. Stretched out the right pad on Latang who has great hands and goes to the back
hand. How about Luke Hughes here in round six? He starts wide. Luke Hughes
attacks, delays, and goes wide. We’ll go to round seven. We’re going deep. We’re
going deep. I don’t have much much more air here, guys. This is tense. Cody Glass only his third
career attempt in a shootout. Bullhead of Steve and Daw stones him. Hey, Doy’s doing his part
here. Has he ever? Has he ever jersey number 28? Well, go win it right here for him.
Teemo. Teemo Meyer is next in round seven. Loops wide. Teemo in. He shoots. He scores.
[Applause] Teemo Meyer burns it in and the Devils leave Pittsburgh with two points. This is a beauty
by team Omire. Love that little fake with the pump fake with kind of the head and right leg and rips
it upstairs past Nadalovich. Beneers first attempt of the over the shootout. The former Michigan
Wolverine. Here’s Beners. Walks in, thinks, and never got the shot off. Just too many moves
sometimes, Denny. And especially with rough ice. Well, it’s a great job by Telba,
too, by waiting him out. Obviously, mishandled the puck there, but Telba didn’t
overcommit on that one either. Lucas Raymond, two for two in shootouts. First round attempt for
the Red Wings. Wide left, angles in on Decord. Takes a look backand shot and boy I think might
hit the post and trickle underneath Joey Dord. Well, he had just a few inches on that. Raven
starts us out really wide and as he comes across, it’s hard for the goalie to get back and forth
and he had him there. He just couldn’t get it back forward around his pad. Shane Wright had
two in regulation. Walks in shot. Big save as Cam Talbot stayed right with him. Got the blocker
on that one. And here we go. Patrick Kane’s got a opportunity to rewrite the National Hockey League
record books. Correct. Sure does. He sure does. Here we go. Kane second round. Right down the slot
he goes. Hangs on backand score. And it’s a new record in the National Hockey League. The most
shootout goals by an individual in NHL history. We’re not done yet, but Patrick Kane, how silky
smooth. He starts out with a little bit of speed and then hits the brakes there at the hatch
that pushes the goalie back a little bit and then he just uses those great hands. Speaking of
history, Red Wings open for seven in a row. Lexi walks in and Detroit for the second time under
Don Mlen have won seven consecutive games. First four game sweep on a road trip in almost 30 years.
Here’s the last job by Ko and Telbot just patient. Just patient again. Outweights the shooter. Really
gives him nothing to shoot at on that one either. One of one this year. Starts the shootout
in on an angle. Scores. [Music] [Applause] Watch the quick hands. Watch change forehand
backand flick. There’s no this is all one continuous move. And then he goes make sure he
you can see that he kept waiting. He wanted to see the goalender’s glove get over top. Arcadia
horn Jason Robertson for Dallas moves in. Shoots missed the net. and he tried to just pull it and
then be quick. You’re going slow, you’re holding on and then the quickness of the release would
catch and you know what Rick was down there in the top corner was open just missed for the game. 28%
in his career. Fia right up the middle. Scores. Little different right. He went up the middle.
He didn’t make the goalender change his angle, but then by the time the shots taken, I think is
so deep in his net. Oh yeah, he went for the fake. Kevin made the fake. Watch this right there. And
that’s going to go. Look at the goender flinch. He’s deep over the pad. Save here. Wins it for
the Gangs. Matt Duchain. Two goals tonight and an assist. Duchain speeding in. Duchain digs. Save.
Reick. Kings with it. And a shootout. Five- four. Riddick had a little bit of a in your face there
for after he made the save. I don’t know if he’ll pick it up here. This time Rick does not bite.
He does not flinch. And look at this. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Oh, he puts it back into the holster.
He’s more of a shooter than a deaker on these shootouts. We’ll see what he does here. Neighbors
against Solder Bloom. He goes wide. Neighbors comes in, shoots it, and a pad saved by Solderble.
Well, Jake had that spot between the wickets and he always takes that same pattern in here.
And Solder Bloom had the leg spread wide open. Just Jake misses the shot there. And now Connor
Bard will shoot. He’s one for two on the year. Former first overall pick Bard on Bennington. Here
he comes. He pulls up and a save by Bennington. Great patience there by Jordan Bennington.
He stays with the shooter. Stays with the shooter. Reloads there on the pads down here.
Then reloads right there and then back again. Drops the other pad. Denying the guard.
And now the captain Shen on to round two. Here comes Shen waiting. Backhander
and he scores. What a play by Shen. The captain with a great move on this one here.
He’s looking to pull it to the back end. Kind of bobbles it a little bit right there. See
the puck roll and then he gets it again and tucks it behind the pass of Soder Bloom.
Great patience by Braden Shadow on this. Great patience indeed. And the Blues take the
lead in the shootout. Terrainian will shoot for Chicago. Two for two on the year. Here he comes.
Terraining in and he scores and he ties it at one. Well, that uh quite a goal there by
Terrain and slowing down here. Waiting, waiting, and then he pulls it up top over the
block. That’s just an elite move right there, I would say. So, it’s tied at one onto round
three. And Dylan Holloway will shoot for the Blues. Holloway comes in up the middle waiting
and a great pass save by Solder Bloom. Wow, that was a real good save by Solder Bloom as Dylan
Holloway I believe had him here. He’s patient, patient pulling and then just doesn’t get
the puck up over the pad as Sonno with a big push to make that save. So now
Ryan Donado could win it for Chicago. It’s nailbiting time here at Enterprise Center.
He’s one for one on the year. Donado comes in and a move and a save by Bennington
with a poke shot. On to round four. Wow, Donado there. Just a few too many moves in
my opinion that let Jordan Bennington kind of relax a little and wait for his moment.
But you see several moves, waiting, waiting, and then bitter. He’s savvy with that poke check.
So on to round four. Kyru will shoot for the Blues and he comes in quickly on Solderboom. Kyro now
pulls up waiting. Had save by the hot goender. Jordan Kyro doing best to change speeds. coming
in a little bit hot and then little bit of the break pads there and then hoping that Sonner
Bloom thinks he’s going blocker but he stayed right with Jordan Ky. Now Craig Smith with a
chance to win it. Losing another save. Here comes Smith waiting. Save Bennington again this
time with the glove. On to round five. Well, Smith trying to come in here and just
overpower Jordan Bennington with that shot. Jordan Pennington doesn’t bite. Gets the glove
on it. And now Robert Thomas who tied the game at 1523 into the fifth round. Here’s Thomas coming
in and a save by Solderblue with his blocker. Well, both goenders putting on a little bit
of a display here. Robert Thomas looking to snap this thing to the blocker side, but Solder
Bloom right there for the save. Chicago. And now the youngster Lucas Riel, their first round
pick in 2020. Five goals on the year and he could win it for Chicago. Here’s Riel and
a save again by Bennington. And we go on. Now both goenders showing tremendous patience.
They’re not biting on much here. They’re staying square to the puck. That’s several saves
now you’ve asked your goalender to make. Bush Davich here got it ended into round six.
Bush Davich he waits forehand saves Totterloo and the Hawks another chance to win it. Well,
Pavl Davis coming in here a little pump fake but look at the goalie. Saw it stayed little the
entire time. Square to the puck the whole thing. And now Nazar the rookie and he hopes to end it.
Bennington needs another save. Here comes Frank Nazar right up the middle. Nazar waiting and he
shoots it wide. And now we go on to round seven. We are getting deep into the batting lineup
here. contest. Nazar comes in, tries to find his shot to the glove, but just misses the net
completely. And now Zack Buluke. He’s got good nets into round seven. Bulldog comes in with speed
now. Pulls up. Saved by Solderb. He’s been solid. Well, most players here, John, electing not to de Bulldog no different fires that the
glove save and now Ian McKay who scored a great goal midway through
the third period. He’ll try and end it. Here he comes. Mave waiting.
Save off the stick by Bennington. McKay coming in from that angle. tries to go
over the pad there. Not happening. And now the birthday boy, Nathan Walker.
Nathan Walker into round eight. Here’s Walker with speed up the middle. Lady saved
by Solder Bloom with his arm. Boy, John, we saw a lot of goals here tonight and now the goalenders
have said, “No, we’re not having anymore.” Nathan Walker comes in off that wide angle
as well. Try to go back to the blocker. Denied. And now the hometown hero Pat Maroon
[Applause] as he tries to end this game. Maroon on Bennington. Here he comes. And a save by
Bennington against his former teammate. The bakery coming in there. Pat little fake trying
to go to the block. You see the puck jump up on him here just a little bit at the end and
Jordan Bennington with the block for save. And now it’s on to round nine. Matthew
Joseph will shoot for the Blues. He scored earlier tonight. Joseph gets it
to the middle. Saved by Solder Bloom. Well, it’s got to end at some point. Felo now will shoot for Chicago. We are we are deep
into the lineup here. So Nick Felino here in round nine with a lot of speed in on goal. Right pad
save by Bennington. This is this is turning into quite the event here. the marathon between
the Blues and Blackhawks as Jordan Bennington follows this puck the whole way. And once
again, a nice pad save. And now Radic Foxa, the blue shooter in round 10. Here he comes. Foxa
waiting and he scores. What a play by Fox. And the Blues with the lead in the shootout. A Foxy move
by Fox. What a move by Radic Foxa coming in here on the angle showing shot. Sh shot. No. Pull it to
the backand and buries it. Looking pretty as ever. And now Bertusi must score for Chicago. Blues need
a save from Bennington. Bertusi in waiting. Save Bennington. Winner winner. Chicken dinner get
dinner. A 10 round win by the Blows. I mean, what a game here at Enterprise Center tonight. And
he awaits the signal from the referee to pick up the puck at center ice. The left hand shot will
approach Lucas Doall off of right wing. Lucas way out off the post. No goal. The fans thought it
went in. I think it’s post and crossbar. Watch this. post crossbar and out. Boy, what a break
for Dol Stall. So, Trevor Ziggress will lead off as the fans are just now seeing the overhead view
on the big board above center ice at crypto.com. Trevor, for whatever reason, not that popular
here in Los Angeles. And he will not go too fast. This will give the fans plenty of time
to boo him. Picks up the pace and scores. as he roofs it. His hands are just magic, lethal. He
saw that Riddick was out far and that’s why he picks up speed. You know, he he looks at the
goalender, sees that he’s being aggressive, so he picks up speed, forces Riddick to retreat,
and there was room. Kevin Fiala has not been given the official okie dokie from the referee. Almost
picked up the puck too soon. Now he approaches Doall right down the middle as he did last night.
Backhander off the post and the plumbing has been friendly to the Ducks in the shootout and they
can win it right here if Carlson can find the back of the net. Quick move to the backand. He
just tries to float it up into that top corner. So Leo with his second shootout attempt of the
season with the game on his stick. Swings in off the right side. Slows down and wins it. His
patented move and the Ducks win it. Krypto in a shootout. It’s two to one. Yeah, that is Leo’s
favorite right there. So Carlson, we’ve seen it before. Backhand, forehand. took his time, but he
loves that move, doesn’t he? He sure does. Soon as he saw Riddick leaning to his left, he knew he
had him. And it’s going to be Pierre Luke Dubois. So he picks up the puck and he’s stopped by Vamela. Carral stayed with him the whole
way. coming in wide to the right, snaking back to the middle. Looked like he tried
to go fivefold, but Vamela was on his angle the whole way. So, here’s Nick Schmaltz,
and he’ll bring it in on Logan Thompson. He scores. What a sweet move, Nick Schmaltz. A
smooth maneuver from Nick Schmaltz. Right side snake to the middle. Fake backhand. Thompson
bites and put it in the attic of the net. Potress is in. He’s stopped by Vla. When a
goalender comes out to the top of the grease, there’s almost no net to look at. Here comes
Prous. Vamel way out and he parries that away with the blocker. Clayton Keller, he can end
it. Keller is in. He goes real wide and he set it over the top. The subtle little stop up
from Clayton trying to push Thompson deeper into his net to give him himself more net to look at.
looks to go glove side. Barely missed and Vamela with the opportunity here. Dylan Stro brings it
in. Third shooter. Stopped by Vamela. And that’s it. Game over. Three for three. A brick wall in
this shootout. And I didn’t know that Vamela in check translates to brick wall. Here comes Stro.
Quick little shift to the forehand trying to go under the glove. The game-winning goal from Nick
Schmaltz. Quick fake brings it to the forehand. Gets elevation and Utah battles. Two for 11 in
his career in the shootout. Is Thomas moving to the middle sticking and Comry keeps it out.
[Applause] Comry stuck with him and extended the right leg. Thomas here with two shootout
attempts against Comry. Comry drops the leg, follows him to that far post and makes
a good pat save. 12 for 29 in his career as Mark Shley coming in with speed. Quickly
slowing down, shooting and it’s off the iron. You got all of that iron. Shley with
speed decides to slow it up and uses the shot tactic to the glove side of
Hoer. Beat Hoer couldn’t beat the post. Pavl Buchavic first goal in 14 games for him
tonight. Moving in. Uses the DE and a good stop from Comry who read that well. similar tactic to
try and go to the blocker side and extend Comry the same as what Thomas did. And again, look
at Comry at that great athletic ability. Kicks the right pad out. It’s Kyle Connor’s turn. Number
81, Kyle Connor. 6 for 18 in his career. As Connor moves in, wrist shot. He scores. It’s the first
goal of the shootout. Kyle Connor has it. Well, he does a great job here and I think if you’re
hoper, you think he’s going to drag it to the back end, but instead opens up that blade and goes
to the top shelf on the blocker side. Braden Shen, the Blues captain, moving in. A lot of speed
going wide. It stays out. And there you have it. The Winnipeg Jets with a franchise record
ninth straight victory. And Carry absolutely brilliant. gets a little help from the post on
this Shen opportunity who again tried to go to the blocker side to beat Comry. All three St.
Louis shooters went that way. Two of them stopped by the right pad. One of them stopped by the post
and the Jets win it. Chely starts things 12 for 30 in his career. 0 for one this year. Save made
by Fedotov. Good job by Fedotov to maintain his gap and and not get retreating too quickly. Watch
where he ends up when this shot is taken. Right at the top of the blue. That’s really good stuff
right there. Nothing to shoot at. Travis Connecti who was two for 18 in his career coming into this
year, but he’s three for six this year. He will deliberately move on in from the right wing and
he couldn’t get it past. try that little flip shot but just couldn’t get it done. That’s one of his
patented moves on the shootout where he just kind of comes in slow, gets the goalie to move and then
flips it over the glove. Just not able to elevate. Maybe he was trying to go low there. Maybe
thinking that Helluck knows he likes to go high. He tried to go low and is one step ahead. Kyle
Connor as you would expect dynamic on shootout. Seven for 19 almost 37% and is one for one this
year. Here he goes. Save for Ivan showing poke check and I think Connor maybe it forced him to
do something he didn’t want to do. I think he sees the poke check and then he shoots trying to go
five hole but alertly gets down now one for four in his career this year. of course in shootouts.
So with a little more speed cuts to the middle and he scores. Oh my Beach, Silky and he gives the
Flyers the lead in the shootout. Oh, this is good stuff. Get in the middle of the ice and then bring
it back. Look at how far he brings this puck from his forehand to his backand. It’s going to move
about 4 and 1/2 ft. Then he elevates. What a goal. Fires a save from a win. Now Dave Valardi for the
Jets has to score. He’s four for 14 in his career. Straight on in. Save. Fenottov and the Flyers
win the hockey game. They come into Winnipeg and knock off the top team in the NHL. 2-1 the
final. Foss off. He played so good through the 65 minutes and then you get to the shootout and
you have the opportunity to have your mark on the game by shutting the door and that’s exactly what
Fedtov does there. Valardi the puck rolls off his stick but never mind that. The two saves prior
on Shely and Connor with Travis Green looking on. Dubois closes forehand deep stopped. Very
well played by Lenus Olark as he tracks that the entire time. Dubois cuts out to the right side and
handles the puck. You can see how far is out as he pushes across, gets the pad down, the blocker
out. There’s nowhere to go for Pierre Loop unless he pulls it to the backand tries that old Forsber
play. Bath 0 for one this season in the shootout. Bath with speed to the backand glove save. Logan
Thompson. He looked like he borrowed Charlie Lindren’s glove on that one as Bathson bellies out
to the right. Comes in here and sneaks across and does the old backhander and there is that trapper
by I should say the glove of LT. Great work LT. John Carlson in his career four for 13 in the
shootout. Carlson with speed forehand carry. No five hole there. Stopped by Omar. John Carlson’s
got a head of steam here and he there’s looks like there’s a lot of five hole from the press box and
on that angle but he hits the pad on that one not so much with the save more like John Carlson just
missed his mark by about 5 in in the shootouts in the pasta one for one against Thompson snaking
his way to the cage fires another terrific glove save by Thompson LT’s in one if he can see it he
gets that glove out there. Great battle by him and Stoutla. Such a talented, speedy player. So
decisive with that puck. LT tracks it the entire time. Stro 0 for three this season. Two for 11
in his career. Stro off the Dick. He scores. Dylan’s got the building rocking and as this
one everyone in the last few shootouts with the Capels, no one’s gone to the backhand play
and Dylan just with pis patience puts that one back. Sheru 0 for one this season. Must score
to keep the shootout going. Stopped by Thompson. Washington ends the three-game home ice losing
skid. Logan Thompson was absolutely spectacular in this game under siege on the power play. 2021
shots from the Ottawa Senators on that power play. And here went perfect in the shootout as Jaru
comes down, bellies out to the right and just he plays big and he takes away everything. There’s
not a whole lot. He bet on five hole, gets that left knee down and pushes it outside. I love the
reaction. Mitch Martner starts the shootout for Toronto and scores. Makes the save as Martner’s
stick breaks and it must have been compromised before the shootout started. I can’t imagine what
else could have happened there. So, a bad stick for Mner and he didn’t get a quality opportunity.
No. Here’s celebrating for the Sharks. Mlin attacking Stallards. And Stolars
makes the stop. I’m not sure if he made the stop when the puck just hit him there as
he stumbled and Mlin trying to come back the other way. Maybe I should give Anthony a little
bit more credit. Ah, he he kicked it up. Nope, he does. I thought he just fell. He made that
save awkwardly, but made the save nonetheless. Next up, Austin Matthews for
Toronto against Alex Gorgv and Gorgv with the stop. Nice feet check. Well, you talked about a Randy already. Alexander
Gorgv has played a very good hockey game, especially in the third period. Very
calm and relaxed. Will Smith now to give the Sharks a lead in the shootout. [Applause] And Stallar stopped it. You’re kidding
me. I thought he had him. I thought he snuck it underneath, but Stallar has made the save. How
tall is he? 66, 6’5. Every inch of that frame of Anthony Stler’s really terrific patient. Oh,
look at him stretch. Oh, off the leg and up to the other leg. Oh my goodness. Here’s Kneelander.
Third round underway with speed scored. Other two guys came in slow. Knander
who is their overtime guy yesterday in Pittsburgh right there gets that five
hole. comes in with a ton of speed. Pretty simple. And now Tyler Tofoley
must score to extend the shootout. To Foley against Stallar’s attacking
from the right, scores. And the Sharks are still alive here in Toronto. Look at
him. He’s just chirping at the bench going, “Come on, boys. Let’s go. Let’s go.” This is
a veteran. veteran player slides one way and uses that shot. They send out a murderous row of
shooters to make. Here’s Tabaris now. Round four and Gorgia makes the save there. And
now the Sharks with a chance to win. Tvaris comes in again. Hey, that
stick that stick by Alexander Gerv. Fabian Zetterland. If he scores, it’s over. Here’s Zetterland. Scores. The Sharks come into Toronto and take down
the first place Maple Leafs. They win it two to one as Fabian and Zetterland helps the
Sharks end an eightgame losing streak. This is why you watch from the bench. You watch
what the other guy did. Was he successful? Tyler Trafoley was by shooting the puck where?
Glove side. Fabian Zetan comes in the other way, but still shoots the puck glove side.
Kee will shoot first for LA. Adrien Kempe up the middle on Bington. Here
he comes and a save by Bennington. Jordan Bennington stays with Adrien
Kempe the whole way. Kempe, by the way, one heck of a goal scorer for the Kings. He goes
backhand there. Then Jordan Bennington just with a nice little push. He makes it look easy, John,
which it isn’t. And Jake Neighbors, the first shooter for the Blues. He scored the first
goal tonight. He goes wide on Keer. Neighbors in and he scores right through the legs of Keer.
Well, Jake Neighbors, he takes the same pattern, the same path every single time. And he’s got
a couple of plays where he goes low blocker 54 or he’ll pull it backand based on what he’s
feeling when he gets in there and he snapped that one home. So, the Blues lead by one. Here
comes more for the Kings and a right pass saved by Bennington. And now the Blues could win it with
a goal. Again, John, he’s just tracking the puck so well. He makes it look easy, which it isn’t.
It’s crazy how good he’s playing. And now Shen, the former LA firstrounder in ’09, could end
it for the Blues. And here comes the captain, Braden Shannan, waiting. And a post check
by Keer. And we go to round three. And the Kings now must score here to keep it alive. The
captain just got in a little too tight here when he wanted to make his move. That allowed Keer
to get the stick on the puck and disrupt him. And Kevin Tho, the shooter for LA. Here he comes
on Bennington quickly. He comes in and he scores. And the Kings tie it and the Blues have
one more shot with a chance to win it. Kevin Fel is a great goal scorer. Comes in and
just snaps it up over the blocker. A really wellplaced shot by the Kings forward. Yeah,
that was a 10-point shot. Now Robert Thomas, the shooter for the Blues and he could end
it with a goal. Here comes Thomas in Wade. He shoots and he scores Thomas. Goodbye. Good
night. Blues win in a shootout. Talk about being a clutch player right there. Robert Thomas
ends it for the Blues. They get the two points. Just a gritty effort by the entire team. And
we’re ready to go. Scored earlier in the game. And Wall awaits him. Schwaltz with absolutely no speed. So he’s
just waiting for Joseph Wall to make the first move. and good good on wall having that
patience. You have to remember here knander you’ve got a right-handed goalender here. So
it’s a different mindset than coming in. He he likes to make that shot under the blocker
out but that’s now a glove on this side. So interesting to see if he gets a deaker or
a shot here. Scored the goal against San Jose. Looked like it might give the Leafs
a win in with speed and with the stop. I I like bringing the speed and why you’re
doing that is you’re forcing Vala to back up and you try to get the timing to move him
laterally where you can open up the pads. He did a great job of keeping the stick down.
Well, here’s the 20-year-old Logan Culie. his first shoot out to tip. [Applause]
Mentioned he has scored twice against Wall in his young career. And Wall has another answer.
Really like the patience of Wall. You know, I I got to think that’s twice now. A slow gate
to come in. So no movement at all. But Wall, you see the difference. Vla had to back up.
Wall stood his ground and just moved laterally. Well, the captain had his
chances in the third period. 13 of 38 in his career. He has speed and scores. That’s filthy for a goalender. He’s thinking
a hard shot and maybe a move across. This is just a little change up. just gets Valka to just
bite a second. It ends up putting it underneath. You got to think the goalender is thinking
this is coming firing off the stick. Instead, it’s halfway and fooled. So, Clayton Keller has
to score. The Leafs are going to leave with a win here. Keller 15% in shootouts. cuts back and
what a move. Turn inside out to keep Utah alive. That’s a good read by Keller. I said that Wall
hasn’t bid on anything. So you fake that you’re going to shoot. Get the goalender to go down. He’s
got no movement going backwards. Excellent move. So it’s on the stick of Mitch Marter. and of 33.
One here for win and scores. Mitch Carter will send the Leafs home with a win here in a shootout
against Utah. Got to tell you how difficult it is when you go to your forehand like he did there
with not a whole lot of speed. It’s hard to get that puck up. Coming in from the left side, faked
it like he was going to go back. The pad was there from Vala, but watch at the last second. MNER
able to just pull it and elevate it about 15 inches off the ice. This last play there is how he
gets it up and in. That’s an excellent goal. Well, he’s been the talk of the town for the last
24 hours. Had an assist for his 80th point and a gamewinner. Shootout deciding goal. And
this is an interesting dynamic right now with Zukarelloo having scored on a breakaway earlier
in the game. See if he goes to the same move or changes it up. Luke will open the shoot out and
he scores. This time he went stick side beats Blackwood and Minnesota has the early advantage.
Yeah, we’ve seen that before. That stick right there. He’ll hang on to the very last minute and
at the last second he just flicks his wrist and that one beats Blackwood five hole. The Norwegian
made that one look pretty easy. Here’s [Applause] M. And just denies the league’s leading
scoreer. That’s as good as it gets right there. Gus holding his ground, staying
patient. All kinds of stick movement, but no movement from Gus. tried to go quick over
top of the glove and just puck rolls up on Nathan McKinnon. Now it’s Matt Baldy for Minnesota
assisted on their only goal of the game. Baldi moves in and scores and the Wild are a
save away from a shootout win. What a move by Matt Baldi faking like he’s going to shoot
low blocker. Blackwood fights on the low blocker shot. Pulls it quickly to his backhand.
Has the whole net able to get it up over the pad of McKenzie Blackwood. [Applause] So it’s
naturous from Colorado. Augustus saved it for the Wild. Natures in. And Minnesota wins it.
The Avalanche 16 win streak this snap and the Wild inch two points closer to the Colorado in
the Central standings. What a game we witnessed here tonight. What an effort by the Minnesota
Wild. Here’s Marty Nas with the game on his stick. Loses the handle on the puck. Very similar
to what we saw from Nathan McKinnon and the Wild pick up that extra point. Sharon Govich trying
to find the separator in the shootout for the Flames. Caught him wide now back to the middle.
Delays diggs backhander robbed by Lanin. What great footwork by Lankin. You can see him with
his right foot just pushing ever so slightly to his left trying to make sure that he’s square
to Sharon Govich. And then Sharon Govich can’t get it over the left pad and len it. Garland 40%
shootout accuracy in his career. wide again on Wolf now to the middle. Shoots, scores Connor
Garlet and the Vancouver Conucks come back to beat the Calgary Flames in a shootout. Then let’s
take a look at the move by Connor Garland going to go wide. Looks up a couple times and then just
shoots glove side. Kind of freezes Dustin Wolf. Beautifully finished by Garland and the Canucks.
4-3 shootout victory. One more look at it. You can see Garland look up a couple of times right
there. He knows what he has in mind and beats the Flames goalender. He’s in from the left wing.
Takes the shot and he didn’t score. It ran off both posts and stayed out. Boy, is he snake B.
Wow. Yeah, he goes the opposite way. Not down the right side, but down the left side. tries
to go against the grain and one rep three post post crossbar. Wow. Wow. You will never see that
again this year. Yeah, that’s the definition of snake bitten right there. So now it’s Gensel for
the Lightning. They’re checking to make sure that that did not go in. That’s why they’re holding up
Gensel here. That’s a one for one this year. Nine for 24 in his career. Sam Harrison a six and three
record in shootouts. Getel in digs in the glove. Save for Yeah, Sam takes a real patient approach
here. Some goalenders like to get way out and back in, but he stays relatively quiet while Gensel’s
winding up. And good read, good glove positioning there. Good save. Matt Feichkov will be next.
two for five as he moves in on Johansson who’s 0 and3 in shootouts in his career. Hitchcock
scores and the Flyers lead in the shootout. One of the toughest saves to make on a left-handed
shooter is when he comes down the right side because that left hand stick sees the far side
of the net. You got to respect glove side, but if you put it above the pad, below the
blocker, virtually unstoppable. Mechov the finish and the celebration with some fans on the glass.
Yeah, he loves to celebrate. Braden Point 0 for one this year but 18 for 41 in the square. In with
speed and he scores. He ties it back up. Wow. You don’t see players going with that kind of speed
very often. You don’t and it will it will mess you up as a goalender because guys typically take
their time. So now here comes a guy with speed and he had his mind made up the whole way. He was
going to go to that glove side. Here’s a field pick by John Torell. He goes with Bobby Brink.
One for five in his career, but having a hack of the night. Swerves in to the right wing deep and
I believe Johansson got a piece of it deflected wide. I wonder if Brink was trying to do the play
that connecting does and and he lost the puck and maybe had to improvise at that point right here.
He loses it right there or a little sooner. He lost it and yeah, you know, Hans gets it with the
glove. Victor Hedman, a defenseman. Yes, he’s 11 for 37. He also goes in with speed, but got a
piece to deny it. Well, he tried to go to that blocker side the way Beach did, but Harrison was
on top of it. That left hand stick. No, Harrison all over gets that blocker low enough. That
blocker’s higher. That puck would go above the pass. Overtime now in the shootout. Sean Couturier
0 for two this year. And he goes deliberately sneaks. Couldn’t jab it at home. Johansson
held his ground. Good patience by Johansson. He goes down at one point but then recovers with
with the right pad. That left skate able to catch an edge and able allows him to get over across
and make the right pad save. Agel a chance to win the game. He’s 0 for two. And he goes deep save.
Harrison trying to go against the grain on him, but Harrison was there. Yeah, he tried to open
him up and go five hole, but Harrison able to get the stick down. Watch the stick of Harrison
paddle down and that seals up the five hole. Great stuff there. Johansson had allowed eight
goals on 10 shootout shots coming into this game. But he’s looked pretty good so far. What’s the
practice? Here’s Owen Tippet. Two for eight in his career. Two for four this year. comes in from
the left wing, fees and scores, fires heavily. Oh, it’s all about the pump fake for Owen Tippet here.
He gets Johansson to bite. And when he bites, he’s in trouble. Watch here. Pump fake out.
Look at how out of position Johansson was at that point. You got to sell the shot. Tippen
certainly did there. Alra Burkstrand, a newcomer. He’s 6 for 23 in his career. In he goes the save
and the Flyers win the hockey game. Oh, the Flyers needed this one here. You think about this home
stand and how frustrating it’s been. Erison, who’s been so good at shootouts in his career,
comes through in a big moment. And we talked about him in the open as far as needing to elevate.
You get in a situation like this where you can be a difference maker. Erison certainly was at the
most important time. Tippet with the gamewinner in the shootout. Er with the game-winning save and
he’ll start us off here. Tage Thompson weaves his way in between the half. Marks off the post.
Chipped some paint but did not bend the twine. You see him just coming in slow, deliberate here.
He’s trying to get Eden Hill moving a little bit and then as soon as he gets squared up backhand
to forehand the quick release and right off the outside of the post. Victor Olson 0 for one so far
in the shootout this year. Carries it in scores. Familiar quick release. He got off a stick in
a hurry once he decided to let it go. Yeah, you got to know that Vick Rosson knows Pekka
Lucan in as well. So taking plenty of shots on him in practice and right there he’s able to
beat him on the glove side. Shooting second for the Sabres. Number 22 Jack Quinn. Jack Quinn 0 for
one. Wants to change that. Quinn holds it. Scores. Nice patience there. The Savers get one here
in the shootout. Ah, this is nice hands. that goes down left side and then he
goes to forehand and pulls it to the backhand with a crit release. You see
Hill going out and he’s got C moving to his left and we’re going to let the
crowd call this shot. You know who it is and you know Pekalukan just made the stop. Great
call by Sabres fans at Kebe. Now Michael tries to come in slow here, but he’s going to reach
out. We always see this. He likes to reach out and wrap it around the goalender.
But you see that left pad of Lucan and he pitched it right off to the post there
and Michael not able to elevate it. Alex Tuck takes the puck at center to the right
circle. Tuck works in, scores. What a move. Just some nice hands down low. Look at
the feet work. He just kind of throws the goender off. The stick and the feet
are going all different directions here. And Alex Tuck totally in control. Gets
us to a forehand and slides it underneath the pad. Doraf Lucan in oneonone.
Dorv stopped by Lucin. Sabres win. The Sabres did not count themselves out and
they dig deep. Yep. Doria coming in here. He’s going to pull the backhand and he sees the five
hole. But you see just as he tries sliding five hole right there that left pad bang down to
the ice traps that puck underneath. Excellent job. Savers say thank you to Tomas Hurdle who
appeared to have an empty net goal on the end of his stick but he opts to pass instead. Dallas
will shoot first and here comes Jason Robertson. He’s in. Scores. [Applause] Vasilei knew right
away. Nothing fancy about this. He just beats Vassie down to getting down. Vassi doesn’t
protect the five hole with his stick enough. a tad late going down and Robertson whacks it in
there. Last time the Lightning won a shootout, this guy got the game deciding goal. It is Jake
Gensel trying to respond for Tampa Bay. Scores. Okay, you got a quick release. I’ve got a quick
release. Jake Gensel terrific. He doesn’t get in too close here. Look where he pulls the trigger
from. He’s not even at the second hash mark. He’s already decided what he wants to
do. Over the pad, under the glove. Round two. Matt Duchaine weaves his way in up the
middle. Scores. Same thing. Could work once, it can work twice. Matt Duchaine beats
Vasalevki before he can get down. It’s It’s the release, of course. When you
release, Duchain’s got some good moves. Bassie’s ready to go either way, but doesn’t get down in
time. And here comes Point with speed straight ahead in stopped by Smith. A totally different
tactic. Braden Point likes to use this. This is what he’s used to. He plays his game at high
speed. Why not do the same thing in a game? The five hole looked like it was open, but the Smith
wasn’t fooled. He was in good position. Big save. This place is on its feet for Wyatt Johnston who
can win it right here. Johnston in on Bariski and he is stopped. Good job by Vassie there. You
see how he went down a little quicker. Take away the five hole. You’re not going to beat
me again. Three in a row. So he’ll go down but he keeps his glove up. There he is. He’s
down. Got the glove up. Nice save. And now it is up to Nikita Coutro to keep this game alive.
Cut off slowly in. He’s in onto Smith. Scores. Unreal. That’s his shot. I mean, he
he’s just really good at this one. High blocker. Maybe it went under
the blocker. Looked like it was high blocker at first. It was rising,
that’s for sure. Great shot, Branson. stopped by Vaselovski. Yeah, I think he missed
his shot. I don’t know if he changed his mind. He missed the five hole for sure and didn’t have
it on the corner. Vassie was quick with that left leg. That one really didn’t have much of a chance.
Vassie out on the edge of the crease. And now with a chance to win it is Gage Gonzalez. Gonzalz in
onto Smith and he scores. Gage Gonzalez wins it for the Lightning in a shootout. Two huge points
for Tampa Bay against the Dallas Stars. As the season’s gone on, Gage Gonzalez’s confidence level
has grown and grown. And that is a remarkable shot. Under pressure, they give it to the kid.
It doesn’t look like there’s much room. The Smith looked surprised that that one actually had
some room there. Gonolves waits and waits. I don’t even know how he threaded that one through. Big
extra point for the Lightning in the win. Cfield picks it up, swings it to the near side, turns it
toward the net and the slot, looks and shoots it wide to the net. McKenzie Blackwood waited him
out. Did you see Blackwood just stay with the shooter who came out challenged and just froze
Cole Coughfield. Look at how calm and composed he is. Stays on his two feet, forces him to shoot
wide. Charlie Coyle will be first for the Adams. Jerry Bendard must know something. Here comes
Coyle in as he works it through the top of the circle. Looks down deep. Coyle a backhand flip
and he scores. Charlie Coyle. Beautiful move and a beautiful backhand flip. Top shelf. Holy po. Soft
hands to do this move with rough ice at the end of the game. Forehand backand think of beauty. Stick
Suzuki this season. 0 for three in the shootout. Here comes the Montreal captain. Weaves in
down the blue line. Suzuki looking into the slot. Dusting it off. Back hand shot and a save
by Blackwood. And so now the ABS can win it right here. Who will Jared Bor send out? What a job by
Blackwood to wait and wait and wait and watch the right legs. Good to be 6’4 and kick. Oh, what
a save. Valuskin. It’s on his stick to win it. He’s the only one that’s besides now Coyle who
scored a shootout goal this year. He picks it up at center ice. Nitushka looking down the
slot. Picks up a little speed and shoots it wide to the net. Oh, that puck wouldn’t rest
for him. He picked it up at the center line and he spent all the way to the top of the
circles just trying to flatten that puck and then when he does he’s clearly going glove
high. Just missed the shot. Here’s Patrick Lennick. One for two in the shootout
this year. Blackwood makes the save. The ABS win. Lennick brings it down the slot.
Looks to the floor, back inside, and scores. That’s ridiculous talent. Mo, one
of the most talented players in the National Hockey League. Struggles to find
consistency, but to have a backhand shelf, watch where he starts the move. I mean, he
buries that under the bar from a foot outside the crease. Not many guys can do that. Here’s
the leading score in the National Hockey League, and Nathan McKinnon, he can win it. He
gets the go-ahehead. McKinnon looks in down the slot. A couple of moves.
McKinnon shoots a save by Martin. That shot was there. I think he tried to put
that on the ice under the pad or maybe to go over the pad and somehow mock the ball. Watch the
right pad. just catches that puck. Oh, the glove. Caught it too. Nice save. Now it’s Christian
D’vorak. Has not taken a shootout this season. Works it in. D’vorak backhand opportunity. No, a
forehanded is saved by Blackwood. Now the ABS can win it yet again. Blackwood’s doing a great job
of holding patience, trying not to make that first move. And then once again, size and staying out
the front of his crease just stuffs D’vorak out. Brock Nelson can win it. Has a tally tonight. Here
comes Nelson in. Swings it way wide down the wing. Nelson looking down the slot. Shoots and scores.
Brock Nelson gets the ABS the extra point. They win in a shootout by a final score of five-4.
A rather difficult way to get there, but watch this. Patience. Patience. Hold. sees the corner
and Brock Nelson that sweet release in great hands puts it right under the glove and over the pad. It
was like Super Bowl in real time. Oh, back of the net. A win is a win is a win. Jared Bettar never
looks. One of the best in the league this season. He’s three for four looking to get the Panthers
on top. Barov does it again. Oh, it’s just deadly. Boy, he came off that puck. It looked
like he was going to slow down and then all a sudden he took off and then made
that move. Brings it to his back hands, opens up Jarry’s legs and slips it in.
Ricard Raquel against Sergey Babski. Raquel goes all the way to the boards and then
moves in. Oh, Sergey staying right with him. That’s just all reflexes. Look at how he just
kicks it out. Make sure Ricardi makes the first move and just stuffs them. Anton Landell two for
three this season looking to put the Panthers in charge. And on the back hand Oh, what a
save. Looked like Mundell may have had Yeah, just maybe just didn’t elevate that puck just
enough, but number eight. Give credit where credit is due. Jari just stuck with it right here.
Little offbalance, but then recovers by sticking out that glove hand. Look at these two Warriors,
both Stanley Cup champions. Crosby against Broski. Future Hall of Famers. One-on-one in the
shootout. Crosby stopped by Sergey Babroski. Reinhardt can end it right here. Panthers
going to be third shooter. Here’s Crosby. Slowed it down. It looked like he was
trying to go five hole. Babroski made the save. Reinhardt. Two goals in the game.
Looking to finish it up for the first place Panthers. Everybody on their feet in Aaron
Bank Arena. Reinhardt hit the crossbow. Wow. I don’t think we’ve seen that move before
by Reinhardt where he drifts over to the right side and then comes back in, drags it,
waits. Oh, he had beaten Jar cleanly, but put it off the crossfire. Babski has
stopped eight of nine in shootouts this season, including tonight. If he stops Rust, the
Panthers get the extra point. Here’s Rust. And Babroski stops him. Let’s go home,
baby. The Panthers come from behind and pull it out. Sergey Babroski’s had this
habit where he just says enough is enough. He gave up three goals and then he just
shut the door. The rest of regulation into overtime and then in the shootout as
well. Sergey Babroski sticks out that left leg and drags the right leg across making sure
that puck never went over the goal line. Oh, we’re going to be seeing this one, Randy, about
a hundred times over the next 24 hours. Two for two. That’s why he’s patting first. Here he
comes delaying and Demco had none of that. Yeah, Dempo there stared him down and Connor with
a good move. It’s a little too late to get on the attack right there. He had it moving but
look at Demco stay with him. That was a toast. Jake De Brusk will lead it off for Vancouver. One
for three this season. De Brusk with speed scores. What a bullet by Jake De Brusk and Muck strike
first. I love the speed there brusk. He comes up the ice. He bellies out to the left there.
Left-handed shot. He picked that spot. You can see it there and he got it up in a hurry and
Marstrom says just a little too quick. A little late reaction for him. So Jasper Brat, he was
0 for two in the shootout. He’s the facilitator with 61 assists. And he’s in the two-hole for
Sheldon Keith. Here he comes quickly. A tangle. Sick miss. You said it. Sick miss. And
a full tool box there. And he went right to it with authority. He’s so strong on his
edges. Strong hands. You can see him moving around. Everything’s shifting here. And then as
Demco bites on one, he takes him the other way. And Deco did get a piece of it. Just not
enough. Is Garland. His D were just laughing, guys. Just missed he’s able to do that. One
for two. He takes a wide route. Stare down and Marstrom gets a piece of it. Sweeping
across. Yeah, Marstrom here. He walks in on the first move by Garland. The right-handed
chunk down the right side. A little patience there to freeze Bstrom and then a backhand. But
that stick just gets it away. Almost chopped it out of the way there. Teemo Meyer. Two goals in
regulation. Teemo. One for one in the shootout. Listen to this crowd. Oh. That’s not the plan.
Here he comes. Denied by Demco. You wonder, Jody, if that threw him off. Did he have something
else in mind? Right. Because you lose the puck like that as you’re coming down, maybe it changes
the course of everything. A little too casual on the pickup and then he really limited his space to
go to work. You know, by the time he got it back, he just had a tight angle. H Sudter 0 for one. Two
goals in the game. Markstrom’s 0 for one in the shootout this season. Here comes the Swissborn
receiver. Great shot again by Jacob March soon here. He picks what he he picks
the blocker side as he comes down the right side. He locks it in right
there and it’s a hard shot. Just tries to feed him with a fast ball,
but Mark focus in his eyes there. Two goalenders at one time were teammates. They
have put on a wonderful show tonight. Luke Hughes, it’s your turn. He’s 0 for one this season in
the shootout. And Demco says no again. Good job by Demco here. He just he’s out at the edge of his
crease. He reaches the speed of Hughes. See Hughes there not happy as he tries to go far side now
after that little backhand play. Tries to beat him with that quickness, but Demco stays right
there. You got to be thinking shot with Leeraki out here. We’ve talked about it all night. That
quick release. Maybe a similar move to Hughes, but wouldn’t be surprised. Couple of stick
handles and a quick shot called See the Here. Leer Mackey. What a goal. Jonathan Leer Mackey.
Hey. Hey. What do you say? Vancouver gets it done. Vancouver. Boy, a hardfought effort as they came
into New Jersey. They were down a couple times here tonight. They battled back. a goalender
with some big saves here tonight for them. And how about this? Leaki, you said it, Hicks. He’s
going to shoot the puck. Boy, that was deceiving, wasn’t it? It looked like he was going to go
far side. Mark reaction says it all. He goes short side. Yeah, we’re talking about a really
good goalender that wasn’t even close on that. And Anthony Duclair taking it wide, skates in
on goal, and he fumbles the puck. Doesn’t even get a shot off. Well, that’s frustrating for
him. Elvis says thanks. And now Kent Johnson steps on the ice with some of his wizardry. He’s
he’s he’s you never know what he’s going to do. I don’t know if he knows what he’s going to do, but
he makes plays that beat goenders. Ken Johnson. Johnson is three for four this season in the
shootout. Can he do it again against Sroen? Here he is. Stopped by Sroen this time. thought
he might make a move. He didn’t. He went and saw a spot he tried to hit. Sroen’s a goodsized
goalender. Just waited it out. Waited out. Right-handed shot. The second shooter puts it I
maybe he was trying to go between the arm and the body. I’m not sure. And Palari now with a shot.
22% in his career. Kyle Paul Mary skates it down the middle. Stopped by Mleakens. Oh, he has been
so good JD this season. Only one guy has scored on him in the shootout. Well, maybe it just takes
one then. And Adam Fantelli steps over the boards. He’s a shooter more than a deaker. So, we’ll
see what happens. Fantelli one for five this season. Winding on in against Sroken. Makes his
move. He is able to beat Sroen on the back hand. The puck got stuck in behind the
webbing there. I wasn’t sure it was in, but the red light came on and he gets it done.
He’s a shooter this time. He uses the deak to the back hand and that is one nice finish.
Oh, there’s the puck stuck up high before it dropped down. Here we go. Here’s Lincoln
makes the save. The Blue Jackets win it. Paul Horvat makes the move. He misses high and
this one is over. They had to have it and they got it in the biggest win of the season. The
Blue Jackets are victorious on Long Island. [Applause] We apologize, but the Toronto Map
Police while we were in break the shootout started a little prematurely
and William Knander has scored. Here’s the first Shark shooter. It’s Will
Smith in on Joseph Wall and he scores. [Music] The bench just got up and everybody
went, “Whoa!” earlier. This is the first one. Beautiful backhand, but
Will Smith said, “Anything you can do, I can do way better.” Now Austin Matthews
as we begin round two in a 1-1 shootout. Matthews in on Gueorgv and Gorgv with
the save off the Toronto captain. Now Mlin Celerrini will be San Jose’s second shooter. And here’s Celerbrini
against Toronto’s Joseph Wall. and he scores. Celebrating that reason. [Music]
Patience, right? Patience makes the move, fakes that shot, holds on to it just that little
split second longer and goes upstairs. And now Mitch Martner, one of the best in the business
at the shootout, has to score here for Toronto. Martner takes it from center ice. Save by the Sharks win and they are
the most fun last place team you will ever see. Lead off shooter is Ken
Johnson skates in and he takes it wide. It’s KJ in on goal. Makes
the move. He scores. A beauty. Full control the whole way here.
He sets the table by going wide. Pulls Lankin into his Lincoln’s
right and then comes back across. Third shooter for Vancouver is Jake De Brust.
Pretty impressive. 36% in his career. Stares down at Elvis Mleakas. Oh, he’s got speed.
He is flying over the line. De Brass skates on in. Denied by Mers Leakens. Tried a little
flip shot there. Try to get Elvis moving with that speed. Just a little See that little
flip. Elvis just says get out of here. Adam Vanilli scoring that beautiful deak on
Monday night. The backhand to beat Ilia Sroen. Here he is against Lanken. Vantilli
in. Makes the move. Stop. Getting a piece of it. Lank in and it remains one- nothing
in a shootout. Good quick hands from Adam Fantily. He’s in full control here. You see he
changes gears and then locked in on that one. Garland’s winding it up down in his own end. He is
41% like opening. The big wind up and it’s Garland against Murakens. And nurse Leakens makes the
save on the ister trying to go five hole there. Skated the full length of the ice and
he was a little ways out. Ash marks tries to beat him in there in tight
but all he goes scores. Blue Jackets win. He’s two for three this season in the
shootout. Can he put it away for Columbus? Carl Marenko slowly winding his way in.
stopped by Lankinan. And now the Jackets need a save. Who are we going to see here?
It’s not Quint Hughes. It’s Leer Mackey. The rookie Jonathan Leer Mackey. One
for one in his young career. This is only his 21st NHL game. Got a lot of skill.
Jackets get the save. They win the hockey game. Lucker Mackey skates in on goal.
Makes the move. Elvis verse and says no. Well, it’s a celebration here at
Columbus and it wasn’t perfect, but they found a way again of back-to-
back games to get it done. And Elvis Merik outstanding in shootouts this year as
you mentioned. Only one goal against and none here tonight. Too much here. And Elvis is
no not biting at all in all those moves. Carter drives hard, digs, and scores. How
sweet it is. Filthy miss from Paul Carter as he goes backhand, forehand,
backhand, back to the forehand, opens up the blade and chips it past Gustoen.
Matt Zukarelloo leads off for Minnesota. He’s one of the best at it for a long time. 4% in his
career. Jacob Marstrom in goal for New Jersey. Zukarello patient, slow shoots and Marstrom says
no. Well, that’s huge when you stop Zukarelloo who’s almost 50% Bill and he’s had a lot of
shots and Marky stays with him, stays patient, makes a great pad save. Jasper Bratz scored
a beauty in the shootout against Vancouver a little more than a week ago. He’ll look to put
the Devils in full control here in round two. Pratt cuts inside. Back hand. What does he do? He sticks it in and it’s two
nothing. Oh, what a beautiful backhand shelf. And again, filthy mitts there. The little juke
by Jesper Bat and gets Gust and Lean and puts it up top. Matt Baldi is a 57% shooter in the
shootout in his career. He needs to score. Jacob Marshmall can win it here for New Jersey.
Baldi in the slot shoots. He hits the crossbar and this time the two points go the Devil’s
way for good. Well, it’s just a terrific win and two filthy goals by Carter and Brad where
the Devils haven’t had as much success in the shootout. Marky gets the job done as well. Huge
two points for the Devils. And on the tie and goal, it happened. But Baldi there, you see,
beautiful shot. And Mark, he fortunately says, “I had everything covered.” Organ Frost is one
out of three in the shootout. First baseman, one huge point on the line. A stutter
step at the layer. A stop by Ridgeway. Lacrosse got a lot of little deep
on this first move and then he tries to cut back. You see Wedgewood’s patient. So Ross Colton, shooter number one for Colorado. Now he knows a thing or two about pressure with
a Stanley clinching goal on his resume. Just wow. It was all speed and power here, Hicks.
Yeah, he he had his mind made up, right, Jody? Coming up. Watch him open the hips
much like Morgan Frost does. That change of direction and the stick coming out by Varie.
The wedgie chant going on here. Jagor Sharon Govich. He can really He can really shoot the
puck. 0 for four this season in the shootout. Take a wide route and a goal. Oh, dandy
of a shot by Jagor Sharon Govich. Well, that was smooth by Sharon Govich. And you
mentioned the shot and right here it’s along the ice. He gets good balance in the middle. He picks
his spot. A little patience and then a whip. Oh, right over the pad actually. Good shot there by
Sharon Goic. Coyle. Charlie Coyle. One for two. Stare down with Dan Ladar. Calgary up by one.
Calmly in his coil. Shut down by Vladar. How about the poise of Adar there, Jody of Dan Vladar just
coming in. He didn’t he didn’t flinch the entire time. His coils coming in. Yeah. The first save
of the night for me on the car. This guy settled in early. Ladar. And here we go. Here we go. It’s
right. Jonathan Hoober. It’s been a great season. He’s had a great career. This is his best year
as a Flame. Here he comes. The game on the line right now. Hubbero creeps in. Denied by Ridgewood.
Man, it looked like he had his spot picked early. While to the left is a left-handed shot. He’s get
back to the middle. Keep it on the five hole. Oh, he tries to go along the ice there. He
just missed his spot. Rich breaking up the choo choo train here in Denver. One for
two in the shootout. Here comes the big guy. Off the goal post. Calgary wins the shootout and
picks up a huge point in the standings. Incredible effort here by the Calgary Flames and Vadar kept
them in this game. These guys are something. Joel Hanley’s got the rally cap on right now.
The big foul. Nushka comes in. You talked about Var. I mean, when we talk about the Calgary
Flames, we talked to them. Talk about Dustin Wolf automatically first breath. Dan Liddar is right
included in that. Such a big part of this team. And what a gutsy performance. Just backs against
the wall. You needed to have it and you went out and found it. Point total. They will both add to
it here tonight. Who will get the extra point? Trevor Ziggress realizes the Ducks
have to travel tomorrow, right? Hit the goal post. Almost unfair. I I keep
repeating when players move in that slowly, you move the puck around that quickly, you’ve got Gorg
beaten, and it’s dead center on that goal post. Will Smith, the rookie out of Austin
College, the first shooter for the Sharks, spins the stick, picks up the disc, right hand
shot, sweeps in off the left side, goes stall way out, and he steers it aside. This is just
being in the right spot for Lucas. Goenders, you have to time the retreat. You want to
be at the top of the blue paint when the shot is released. That was perfect by Dost
Stal. So Leo Carlson, we know his move, right? Does Alexander Gueorgv know his move?
Push to the forehand from in tight. Here comes Leo and Gueorg was wise to it. Got the right
pad over there. Yep, he knew it was coming. [Applause] Mlin Celabbrini. The
second shooter for the Sharks. The 18-year-old picks it up with speed. Left shot
swings in off the right side. Poke check by Gold. Good job by Lucas. Really patient. Really patient.
And at the right moment. Watch him extend the goal stick here. He’s going to push forward with it.
And that was enough. Whether he got the puck or the stick of Celibbrini, it was enough. Mason
McTavish double digits in shots on goal tonight. He likes to go low glove and this is an important
shot. He’ll slowly sweep in off the left side. Sneaks it under the left pad. We
see Mason do this all the time in practice. He actually pulls it back
to the forehand and jams it through the five hole. Watch this quick
move and jams it. Quick hands. We see him do it in warm-up most
nights. In the end of warm-up, he and Lucas stall to a shooter and Zebras
always go one-on-one. Now Tofoley needs to score to extend the shootout. fires it wide
and the Ducks prevail in a shootout tonight [Music] of a game. And we’ll see if he starts
looking off the right post as you said. That’s kind of a unique scenario for Wedgwood. What’s
he going to do? Not this time. And here we go. Donado picks it up. Winds down the left wing
slowly through the top of the circle. Looks down the slot. Donado hits move. Backhand shot
at the side of the cage. Wedgewood waited him out beautifully. That’s the patience goalenders
have to have. You have to sit and wait and wait. You want the forward to make the first move. And
actually Wedgewood bit on that quick little move, but Donado could not get the back end where
he wanted. Brock Nelson one for two in the shootout this year. Here he goes. Nelson picks
that one up. Looks in at Spencer Knight. Walks toward the slot. holds and shoots and a save
by Knight of the Walker. And that looked very comfortable for Spencer Knights. Brock Nelson has
such great hands and patience. He comes in, tries to outweight Spencer Knight. He wants to pull
him over and slide that up on the blocker. Knight does not take the bait. Beautiful blocker save.
Here comes Connor Bard, one for three this year. The outstanding sophomore comes in little
speed. Shoots it off the iron. Wow. He held that out. 71 goals his last year of junior
hockey. Back-to-back 20 goal seasons. Holds it out there. Hoping to kind of phase Wedgwit
by it. Comes back and hits the post. McKinnon is 0 for three this year. He’s so do. Here comes
the AB superstar center. Slowly looking into the forehead. He looks McKinnon. Holds. McKinnon sends
it in past the skate of Spencer Knight. Gives the ABS the lead. And now Wedgewood with a save
can win it. I think there were 39 stick handles coming in. McKinnon such great hands. Back,
fourth, over, left, right, and just outreaches him to the post. What a goal by McKinnon.
Terrain is three for three this year. He’s the third shooter to keep it alive for Chicago.
Terrain looks down the slot, shoots, and scores. Well, you can see the finesse in the hands of
Terrain. This guy can get it done. Back forth comes in just looking for a hole. Goes down early.
Carvina makes him pay. Artory Luckin can win it. He has not taken a shootout opportunity this year.
And here he goes. Luck in through the circle, looks down the slot, shoots and scores. Arty
Linen, wins it in a shootout and the ABS beat the Chicago Blackhawks by a final score of three-2
as they come back in period number three and the third shooter rips it past Knight. Lechinan
gets it done. Well, this might get him off the Schneider. Hasn’t scored in 10. Makes that look
way too easy. He just kind of sees the top corner. Knight can’t get the glove up there and this is a
great feelgood comeback for the Avalanche. Perfect shot. Taage from left to right has the puck
at center in the black and red jerseys. 72 up the middle dig. Samuel Henson got a piece of that
one. And now James Rhymer who’s been stellar for the Sabres again in this game. It’ll be his turn
to step up. Yeah, Tad’s coming in there. He goes backhand to forehand. Then once again trying to
get it up and over the glove of Jansen and just just catches the top of it
and it’ll deflect up and over. Jakeel 66 plus% into the Buffalo zone. Fires
rubber makes the stop. Shot coming from the circle off to his left. Yeah, Gansel looking
to go five hole here on this one. He sees it open at the last second. You see how quick
James shut that up. Kind of baited a little bit standing up. baits him and then bang, right
down and shut it quickly. Jack Quinn. All right, Jack Quinn’s been shooting the puck really
well lately and when it comes to shootouts, this guy’s got some moves. Let’s see
what he’s got for Johansson here to the right circle. Quinn cuts to the
middle, holds it, fires, scores. Lightning off of that stick from Jack Quinn and
the Sabres get the first in the shootout. He comes down this side, so it’s on his forehand. He cuts
in the middle and then as soon as he turns his body right there, he can put everything into it.
And you see how much of the look at the left side of the net. Hansen didn’t track that across
very well. He left that whole left side wide open. Braden Point, he’s been speed all night.
Right up the middle. Ryder with the stop again. Braden Point, he’s come flying down through
the middle there. He came right at James Rymer as fast as he could try to catch him. And that
glove once again. Right place, right time. Alex Tuck’s got a chance to win it right here in the
shootout. Sabres with a goal so far. Rhymer stop both. Alex Tuck against Johansson. Tuck to the far
circle. Walks in. Deak scores. [Music] [Applause] Dorv will open it up here with the first
shot. The Russian winger, 24 years young, a team leading 33 goals this season against
Wedgewood. Dorafia is stopped by Wedgewood. Dorafia tries to go five hole. Wedgewood is able to get his legs closed quick enough and
to hold it. And here comes Brock Nelson. Nelson’s got a long reach. Is able to move the
puck side to side. Well, lights to Dee. At 6’4, Brock Nelson maneuvers in. Nelson is stopped
by Schmid. Wow. Schmid is look so confident in there as both players decide to shoot. Dorav
and Brock Nelson. Nelson comes from the left wing and he wants to go under the glove
of Schmid. He doesn’t get it all the way over there. That’s a good pad stop. And now
Victor Olivesson signed a one-year deal for just a little more than a million dollars.
Bruce Cassidy has been telling him recently to shoot more. He’s got his chance here in
the shootout. Olivesson stopped by Wedgewood and the goalie’s got to hold his ground, not
make the first move and read the release point as Victor Olison comes in from the right and wants
to go over Wedgewood’s pad and under the blocker. But Olison is able to make the delivery
of the shot. Blocker stop. Well done by Wedgewood. And then the crowd activates
once they saw 29 come over the boards. Nate McKinnon on the move against
Akira Schmid. McKinnon off the iron. You know, talking about the release point that
the goalie is trying to read. McKinnon starts to move the puck quickly. Where does the
release point come from? And you can see he beats Shme Schmidt with it. Schmidt doesn’t
react in time, but it hits the post. And with Michael and Hurdle out of the lineup, here’s
Shay Theodore. Shay Theodore will step up to go third for Vegas. [Applause] Shay Theodore
stick handling and he is stopped by Wedgewood. Scott Wedgewood has been massive down the stretch.
That attempt was muddied when the puck started to roll right about here. Look, the puck’s never
flat. Whoops. Now you can’t do anything with it but try to deep. Wedgeworth makes the save.
And here’s Charlie Coyle with a chance to win it. Ton of experience in shootouts in his
career. The deadline acquisition from Boston. Charlie Coyle. Coyle scores to win the shootout
for the ABS. [Music] [Applause] [Music] At the end, Wedgewood outdo Schmid
in the shootout. Six shooters, just one goal. The last shooter, Charlie Coyle. And he sticks this up in the top corner
for an Avalanche win here at home. He had two assists on their goals in regulation.
And now he decides the shootout with this. When he gets to the forehand, he’s now got Schmidt
deep in the crease. So the way the only way you’re going to beat him is up high. You’re not
going to beat him down low. And Schmidt’s a big guy and can cover the bottom. Look at the
delivery of this puck. It’s perfect. Coil off the back bar and in. And it’s a 32
Avalanche win. number 80. Has had four attempts this season in the skills. Scored
once. Moves in right side, holds and scores. A good start. Yeah, perfectly accurate. You’ve
got to have accuracy against big goalenders, especially butterflyers. That one rifled over the
right pad and under the blocker. Very difficult to stop that as a goal. Jackson Blake, three goals
in two games against Washington. Getting back to eight days ago in the first cuts in on Lindred
and a glove stop by number 79. It looked like Charlie knew that was coming because that club
was cocked and ready to make that stop. I mean, Blake was trying to go top corner, but Charlie
had the answer. Look at the catching glove. Look at the positioning. Absolutely
beautiful. Carlson trying to give his team a real leg up in the skills. Carlson
goes to the forehand and cannot get it by Anderson. Ran out of room on that last deep
to his forehand. Was too tight to the paint, too tight for the goal line. Here’s the fake.
There’s the draw that allows the big pad to come across for Frederick Anderson. Carlson now
0 for three on the season in the shootout. And Carolina will turn to Henry Fchnikov looking to
get it level here in the last of the second round. Dancing east west middle shooting wide now
trying to take care of business in the third round and Dylan Stro will try to take care of it
and get the win for Washington. had a tough season when it comes to scoring goals. That shot just a
little bit wide trying to go over that left hand with a game on his stick. Vanst standing. Stro
catches up. Looks backand stops by Anderson. And it’ll need one more stop at the other end from
Charlie Lingren. Really good fake pair by Dylan, but didn’t draw Anderson out enough. Look at the
room above the right pad right there, but he was too tight to elevate that puck up into the top
floor. Sean Walker, he’s got a wicked shot on his stick. Just five on the season, but good against
the Caps. Walker in shooting and it’s off late and the Capitals have clinched the Eastern Conference
with a shootout win over Carolina. And another 50 win season for the guys in the red. That is a
very difficult task and the Caps have done it this year. A turnaround game for Washington against a
very tough opponent in Carolina. The fans stayed to the bitter end. They love their boys and they
love this two points tonight. The sixth time to 50 wins in Capitals history as you look at Walker’s
last chance. Yep. And he knew it. It looked like he was biting on that to go bluff side. Lingren
already had it there off his pad under his and the shootout is underway. Schwaltz brings it in on his
backand and he is stopped by Sorrowos. Schwaltz almost fumbled the puck. It looked like he’s
coming in slow there but great patience by Soros and and they scout they prescout every shooter on
the opposition team. Ben Batterclaw gives Soros an on and an iPad. So you can see some tendencies.
He tried to just wrap it around and then quickly get it up and over Sorrowos’s arm. He stayed up
and lifted the arm. Good patience there by Jussi Sorrowos. First up for the Predators is the factor
Ryan O’Reilly. He gave Nashville a 3-2 lead in the third. Here he comes against Carell Velca. Save.
Vela snared it with the glove. Just tried to come out wide, bring it to the middle, and then
catch Vamela with a quick shot. But Vamela, you talk about the patience. He matches Sorrowos
there. Glove in good position. A lot of times the goal you’re going to drop your glove the closer
a player gets in. The Milka did a good job and that’s again he catches with the opposite hand.
So keep that in mind. It’s a different optic for the shooters coming in. Now the young captain
Clayton Keller the speedster. He’ll come in for the opposite side of Schmaltz. He’ll bring
it to the forehand. Save by Soros. Completely outweighed him. Complete good patience there.
When Keller’s coming across the middle like that, he’s trying to get Sorrowos to bite. He’s trying
to get him to go down or flinch. He doesn’t flinch. He stays all the way. Keller runs out of
room. Sorrowos made it look easy. Now the wy vet. Steven Stamos in round two for the Pred. Stampos
stopped by Vlo. The job is a right hand shot. You see a lot of lefties, they go the low blocker,
over the pad, under the glove. Stampos is trying to do that on Vulca here. He’s not trying to go
five hole. Valka timed that perfectly. Didn’t bite. Stayed patient. Bam. Right down. Cover
the hole. We will go to round three. A deafening level of crowd noise. Dylan Gunther stopped
again. Jussi Sorrowos three for three. Man, the ability of both of these goalies right now not
to bite and and Gther was trying to Gunther was trying to get him with a quick hand. He’s going
to take it to the backand forehand really quick and then get it short side, but Sorrowos stays
up gets the blocker on it. That was a good shot, but a better save by Sorrowos. Philip Forsber a
chance to be the villain to win it. He scores. The sorcerer quiets the crowd.
Nashville wins the shootout. back-to back overtime victories. What a
performance by Jussi Sorrowos. He faced 40 shots. He stopped all three in the shootout and
Forsber puts it into this one. I mean that that was that was a great game. That was just all in
all just an incredible hockey game. The effort. Watch Forsber’s quick hands here. Quick little
stick handle. Power backhand and elevation. He lifts it. He gets Vamela to fall forward. He’s got
the whole net. He’s three for eight this year and five for 26 in his career. Let’s see if he does
that chip shot over the glove. He’ll swing wide right and come on in and he tried to go five hole
but Iberg knocked it down. Times connecting likes to go high glove. Oh, you’re right. It was five
hole. I feel like he was maybe trying to do that and didn’t get it up but still a good save there
by Hogburn. So now Borvat connect his second cousin. He’s one for four this year. 32% for his
career. Going to go in with some speed. Save. Watch Eri’s positioning when he shoots
this puck. Look where he is. Top of the blue. I mean that that is as textbook as
it can be when a guy is coming in that fast to be that patient. All right. Matt Feov
three for six. Crowd excited to see what he has up his sleeve here in from the right
side and no sir. Hogberg held his ground trying to go a little low blocker. Hogberg gets
a piece of it very much like he did in that first period. Same type of save. So now Max Ziplov 0
for one in his brief career in the NHL. Deaks. Oh, Harrison got the bat across. It did not go.
Siplov thought he had him. He sold shot. Got Harrison to bite, but Harrison’s flexibility
wins out in the end. Tyson Forester now. B. He’s got two on the game. He’ll try the shootout.
0 for one this year. one for seven in his career. Again from the right side save Hogberg Forester
Hogberg’s a big body and I’m sure these guys don’t see a lot of net coming in. They’re trying
to go 5 on him. There was something there. That that left pad was not all the way down, but
the stick was able to keep it up. Holstrom a chance to give the Islanders the win. He’s two
for five in his career. One for one this year. swerves on in and he couldn’t get it
through. Harrison got enough to make the save. Flexing that left leg a little bit.
He hurt himself. Sam hurt himself on that play. Owen Tippet. Watch Maro as he as he gets
up. Something tweaked. He’s hanging in there though. Meanwhile, Owen Tippet goes to work
at the other end. Three for five this year. Tippet with a dink and the backhander is denied
by Hogbird. I think Tippet has him here if he’s able to elevate this backhand. He just can’t
get the puck over the pad. He’s got a lot of daylight upstairs. If he’s just able to elevate,
this will tell us more right there. Just get it up and you have a chance. Local product Tony
D’Angelo tries to end it and give the Islanders the victory. And he goes save with authority
with a glove. Well, clearly Er’s not hurting that bad. He looked like he got up slow after
the last attempt by Holmstrom. This one here, beautiful glove positioning. Nice grab there by
Er. Bobby Brink in round five is one for six for his career. 0 for two this year. Brink
taking his time going in and he scores. Well, Brink is able to get Hogberg to move back in
the blue paint. When he does that, it opens up the blocker side. And look at how deep Hogberg is. The
patience by Brink. And then even though he’s a big body, there’s still some net to see and he buries
it to the blocker side. I playoff hopes rely Kyle Pal has to score to keep the game going. In he
goes. Palmary stopped by Harrison. The Flyers win the game and the Islanders playoff hopes are
dashed. Sam Harrison once again phenomenal in the shootout and the Flyers move to five and one under
Brad Shaw. The deciding goal of those five wins against Look at it. And Juan Dell beats him clean.
He does his markoff in pressure to start the shootout. Well, he likes to come in on the right
side. does Anton Lendell left-handed shot and then he just sets himself and I think Lucinan maybe
had lost his angle there and that far side was open but what an accurate shot by Lendell Sweet.
Here’s Quinn. He’s two for three this season. He’s good in these shootouts. Vanichek stays with him
and the Panthers have a one- nothing lead after round one. Yeah, just one too many moves I think
and Quinn decide to go back to the forehand. Look at the concentration there on Banichek. He leaves
the top part of the net open but a missed shot. Evan Rodriguez one for one this season. Looking
to give the Panthers a big leg up. Rodriguez. Oh, that’s a good save by Lukan. He played that well,
the big body and he just covered the bottom of the net. Here’s Rodriguez. Makes the move. goes back
to the forehand. Just there’s no no room unless he flipped it over that pad. Jurka, he’s the one
that scored to get the game tied in the third. Two for three on the season against Vanachek
and VTEC is there again. Couple of chances coming up to win it. Yeah, I’m not quite sure
about Purkas. He slowed it right down and then watch how he takes off here and shoots from
the angle. All right, Panthers can win it. And look who it is. The rookie Mackie Samoskevich
has had such a good season. Big anticipation. Everybody on their feet. Here’s Mackey.
Couldn’t put it home on the back hand. Oh, he had that puck. I don’t know if it it went up on
end, but he had the upper part of the net there. He made a nifty move. Went to that back hand. Keep
an eye right here. There’s plenty of room. Oh, I don’t know if Lucan got a piece of it or
not. Well, interesting they tamed Tuck for last because if Sam scored, he never would have
had a chance. Tuck is four for five on the season. Vanachek trying to come up big. Let’s go home,
baby. Vtech Vanichek slams the door for the win. Vanichek has owned the Buffalo Sabres and it
took all the way through overtime and then the shootout and he goes three for three on the
Buffalo Shooters. 31st of the season earlier in the game. Tied the game at three. He will get us
going here in the shootout. And if you’ve just joined us, the Winnipeg Jets with one point
that they’ve gained here after regulation, they have clinched the Central Division and
the top seed in the Western Conference. So, here comes Ryan Donado coming in wide, slowing
down, making a move, but that one wide of the net. Well, so much of what we’ve seen in the shootout
here in the National Hockey League is getting to that dot, slowing down, trying to pull a goalie
from one side to the other. Donado does that, but Hellabuk’s so big he doesn’t have far
to move to get to the far post. First for the Jets. It’s Mark Shley. Shifley moves
in, slows down, the shot off the iron. Spencer is so calm and so good at staying
square in these situations. break down Broadway for Shley. He had this opportunity
earlier. A little bit of a piece off of Knight. The rest of it off the bar. And
here is the Chicago Blackhawks superstar Connor Badard. Bedard moves in, gains
speed, puts on the brakes, and he scores. First goal of the shoot. It goes to Connor
Bernard and his Blackhawks. comes in with a ton of speed and then slows it right
down and looking for that opening to beat Halleach down low and is able
to beat him on that golf side low. Looking to return fire for the Jets. Kyle
Connor 7 for 20 in his career. He walks in, scores. Kyle Connor goes top chef shelf
on the left side and ties the shoot up. just looks so easy for Connor. This is
unbelievable. He pulls Knight to the middle of the net and just flicks it up over that
blocker shoulder with perfect perfect accuracy. Tavo Terrain, third on the team in points
this season. Terrain and moves in with speed backand and he couldn’t put it upstairs. So
tough to outlast Halabuk. And when you do, he still covers a large part of the net as Tavana
goes to the backand. There’s no room to put that puck in. Here’s Cole Perfetti. [Applause]
First career shootout attempt. Beautiful move and he scores. Cole Perfetti wins it
for the Winnipeg Jets. Final score here, five- four. Well, that was nifty. He looked
like he was going to shoot it. Pulled it back. Nope. And then waited a little delay.
Opens up the five hole and this thing is over. And you can put it in the win column. For
the first time in Winnipeg’s NHL history, the Jets have clinched the Central Division
and will finish the season as the top seed in the Western Conference. their attempt to get to
the postseason. They’re as close as you can get. Bennington staring down shooter number one.
It’s Ellie Tolvin. He’ll take a wide route. Stare down the goalender and hit the mark
beautifully. What a goal by Ellie Tolvin. Excellent job selling the backhand. gets
Bennington to bite. Quick move back to the fore end. Able to elevate that one up, but an
excellent move. Patience there. Jake Neighbors is shooter number one for St. Louis. He’ll
go wide two and score right along the ice by Grubower to tie it off center forehand.
One little backhand stick handle and then just fires a dart along the ice. The captain
in the two-hole for Dan Bilesmouth’s Jordan Everly moving in on Bennington. A stutter
step, a deak and a shut down by Bennington. Well, Everly had a couple of fakes there
trying to get Bennington to go down and bite on it. He stays strong, keeps the glove
out and cuts out that angle. Robert Thomas, who extended his point streak to 11 games tonight.
He’ll move in. Clank it off the goal post. Yes, it did. Yes, it did. It crossed
the goal line and back of Grubower. Capo Ko is the hope for the Kraken as he picks up the puck at center. Bennington
out to attack. Ko gets it done. I like the change. He comes in with
a little bit of speed going straight through right above the pad and blocker on
the left side there. An excellent shot. The captain of the St. Louis Blues, Braden Shen
moves in quickly. Clankton off the plumbing. Groovy out on top of the blue paint is beaten but
not off the post. Remember both goals scored by the Krakens so far in the shootout have been
to the stick side of Jordan Bennington. Okay, Beners, the high priest of head
fakes is denied there by Bennington. You see that the head fake moving it around
trying to pull it back to the backhand and Bington stays just down long enough
to get the glove out and gets a piece of that one. Zack Bulldook the rookie with
speed. He slows down. Kicked out by Gower. Beautiful save there by Grooby. Love his
positioning. Not a lot to shoot at. How about it, Mr. Rightight? Is he? We’ll see. Shane
Wright turned away by Bennington. Alzo, he listened to you on that one trying to pull
the puck in. Change the angle going towards that stick side of Bennington. See it go off
the stick and get a good look. Pavl Bhnavic in. What a move and stop by Gau. Oh, tremendous. Forced him as wide as possible.
No angle. Right. Here comes Jared McCann. Just wide. Remember both goals JT for the Kraken two were like deaks.
They weren’t shots. They were fakes. Get lateral and then elevate the puck. Round number six will
continue with Jordan Cyro. Cyro quickly in wide. Life goes on. might get to nine
innings here tonight. We might leading goal scorer shooting. What was
that? Six. Yeah, this is seven. Top of the seventh. Chandler Stevenson swoops
in on Bennington. He scores. [Music] Oh, the way Stevie comes in wide, nonchalant. give an opportunity. Make me think he’s going
to pull that backand. Nope. Stick side JT again. Seventh inning stretch. The rookie
Jimmy Snugaroon looking at Philip Gower. And Grubower says no. That’s Kraken Hockey,
baby. It’s a 43 win over the St. Louis Blues. Cfield Cfield up first. Round one. Shoot out. Cole Cfield in on Solder
Bloom and he makes the save. Trying to go five hole. Shut down with a stick. Good stick
position in there by Solder Bloom. A lot of times the goalender when moving that that
heel of the stick maybe gets off the ice and I think that’s what Cole was waiting for here.
But great patience and obviously technique shown by Arvin Solderblown. Another strong performance
in net for him. Frank Nazar has been flying. He has a goal in the game. Up first for the Hawks
in the shootout on Montbo. Got it back. Makes a move and scores on the backhand. Lots it for a
second. Recovered in time. Goes upstairs and draws first blood in the shootout. Nobody can find the
puck right there. What a play after he loses it. Maybe that changed his mind a little bit
too cuz his momentum was going one side and that that fools the goalie. The goalie
leans and he makes a great backhander. Round two. Patrick L against Solder Bloom
as Lane works in glove save. Sold snags that one. Thanks for coming. Give the
old glove and take it away just like that against a guy that can really fire it.
And you can see that curve of the stick of L and doesn’t go up high enough. Goender’s
glove is right there with a good save. And that’s Brian Gallagher. He’s over at the
talking to the referee at the penalty box. Are they still debating whether or not that
Nazar puck was in the net or not? Remember, they never found the puck. I bet that’s
what it is. Look at Monal is still looking underneath and he’s looking for the puck.
Okay. A long discussion. The referees are Shiron and Graham Skiler. Let’s take a
look. There’s the lost control forehand. Oh, it’s in. Oh, it’s in for sure. It’s in. It just got lodged up. There’s
going to be a shot in that. Yeah. Yeah. There it is right there. Yeah, you can see
it. Check behind the potted plant. There you go, boys. There you go. Oh, yeah.
Easter Bunny hit that one good. [Applause] I can never hide the eggs that well for the kids. Seem to always find them. I don’t
know how that happens. All right, mystery solved. Carolina’s got a chance to win
it. They’re checking if it was offside. Just Caroline’s going to have to do some squat
thrust to get his blood going again. All right, here we go. Chance to win it for Tavo Terivine
in a round two of the shootout in Al Montto. Put it high on the backhand. That’s up into the
netting. And the shootout continues. That one did not go in. The old forehand forehand backhand.
Forehand shimmy shake. Forehand high hoister. Suzuki. Dick Suzuki. That’s the
score. Sonner win it with a save. Montreal captain zigzagging in way wide. Here’s
Suzuki off the post off the back of Solder and it stays out. No goal. And the Hawks win
in a shootout. 4-3 your final. Isn’t that great? Look at the reaction of these boys
on the ice celebrated. Great stuff right there after Slapovski tied it on the power play
late. Threeon three. Had many chances both ways. And Arbert Solderblum gets the W in net with
that backhander going off the post. It came up high and it landed on his back and to the side.
That close. Solder Bloom stops all three and the Hawks win. They sweep the season series. Here’s
that chance. Watch the post on the right side of your screen. Fake the shot right there. This
a beautiful move. Beautiful move. And there, I mean, it had the opportunity to go off the
pad and in the net. And that was that would be a goal. Referee was right behind. And that’s how
close it is. Wow. For the Montreal Canadians to secure a playoff birth or to fight another day.
Pad post. And then right in between his pad and his thigh there, Pangers, he was down on his
knees. Element of surprise. Sherangovic one for five this season. He comes in on Samsonov.
Waits, shoots, blocker, stop blow by Samsonov. Well, he’s trying to slow down
right here, Sharon Govich, and see if anything opens up. And he did have far
side. Just missed the shot. Oh, Olivesson. Okay, Victor. Victor Olivesson moving in on Wolf
forehand. Wolf gone up. It was either Wolf the blocker or the post crossbar. Olson does
a nice job here slowing down and then in tight elevating. Yeah. Goes off the crossbar. Cornado
looking for his first shootout goal this season. comes in wide on Samson Coronado off the post. Had him beat and rings the iron. So three of the the three shooters actually had a
spot. They just couldn’t beat the iron. Strangely, Dorafia 0 for five this season in
the shootout. FS himself and Wolf stays with him. Wow. For a guy that confident, as you
mentioned, he ran out of room pretty quickly. It looked as though he was really undecided and
barely even got a shot off. [Music] Morgan Frost has a goal tonight. Looking for one
in the shootout. Frost puts on the brakes. two scores and a little after the bat. Let’s take a look at Samsonov on this play. Frost
puts on the brakes right here and Samov gets just a tiny bit deep in his net if you ask me and
maybe loses net just a hair. St. The 0 for two back and the still celebrating 54 the shootout finish right to
the bitter end in the game and on the season. And the Flames continue to
play for one another and their fans. And you’re allowed a little bit of luck.
Pegasus hit the post twice on Golf in the shootout and that’s okay. That’s part
of the game. Well victory for the Flames. Just love the way in which this team never gives
up. Flames playoff hopes dashed in game 81, but not their spirit. [Applause] What a group
full of determination and what a future.
