President Donald Trump is feeling fine.
Amid rumors that the 79-year-old had died after several days without a public appearance, he shut down the speculation ahead of an Oval Office announcement Sept. 2.
“NEVER FELT BETTER IN MY LIFE,” Trump wrote in an Aug. 31 Truth Social post. “Also, DC IS A CRIME FREE ZONE! President DJT.”
During his on-air press conference Sept. 2, Trump said he’d “heard” about the social media rumors regarding his death.
“I didn’t do any [news conferences] for two days,” he said, “and they said there must be something wrong with him.
The topic of Trump’s health had been a cause of concern in recent a slight decline in appearances and a recent cryptic statement the president himself made about his faith.
“I want to try and get to heaven if possible,” Trump said during an Aug. 19 appearance on Fox & Friends. “I’m hearing I’m not doing well. I’m really at the bottom of the totem pole.”
Less than a week later, Trump’s right hand had noticeable discoloration in photos taken at an Aug. 25 White House briefing, which some online users considered an indication of a more serious health issue. Others pointed out that his lack of public appearances in the last week—opting to not speak to reporters while leaving the White House Aug. 30—could indicate his declining health.
