Had a similar one where I pulled it into some trees pin high. The ball went in, disappeared for about 3 seconds then from the ground level pops up and out about 10 feet in the air in a perfect little arc onto the green about 8 feet from the hole. Turns out there was a slanted rock on the ground and the ball plinko’d through the trees and dropped straight down onto the rock.

Had one where I bladed my 7 iron. The ball never got more than twenty feet off the ground. It bounced 20 yards short of the green and rolled up and in. My friend I was with said “you’ve got to be fucking kidding me!”. I’ll take the ace however it comes though!

Congrats!

And that’s why I’m not impressed by HIO’s. I have two and both were mediocre shots on days when I was playing mediocre golf and got lucky. I’ve hit 100’s if not 1000’s of better shots than my HIO’s.

I hope he hugs that tree.

but are there alignment concerns?
(yes, severe)

ha, i hit a building, dental office and it shot back onto the course and into the hole at NTC Sail-Ho in 1977…haven’t had another since!

I’d have to get a picture with the tree

Playing a men’s club match play 170’ par3. Snap hook into left cyclone fence. Reaching down to retee shot 3 & my ball has hit a cross beam, bounces out in front of the green! Made bogey & lost to a par. Would have legit felt bad to win that hole lol.

The real pro move is to see that you missed and then say “aiming right at that tree for a bounce into the hole”. Nobody remembers all the times you were wrong but everybody will remember the time you called it

I always wonder if I did this would I be happy or just bummed that that’s how I got a hole in one. I’m honestly not sure

Falling upwards. Scorecard doesn’t keep keep picture and this is quite the story.
Yesterday I was on a par 3 and hit it left into a tree that hangs over. It shot down, took the hill and started rolling right at the pin. I was like, is this going to be how it happens. Stopped about 8 feet short.
I also saw a hole in one after it bounced off a tree, on the pre-updated Golden Gate Park golf course #7 (current #3). It’s pretty much the silliest thing I’ve ever seen in golf, but it makes sense, if it’s bouncing off a tree, it’s going to have a lot of roll, which means it’ll cover more surface area on the green if it ends up there, which means it has a higher probability of going in than a normal shot.

That’s 2 drinks for everyone and he f’n knows it.

I see one shot and the ball in the hole. Do yall draw maps on how it got there or just write down a score?

The dude perfectly executed his 20yard pull that he’s had all his life

I almost had a similar hole-in-one story, mine stopped about 2 inches from the hole.
Elevated green with a rock wall in front of it. Green was probably 20 feet above the level of the tee box.
I hit my shot too short. It actually kind of bounced in the crevice of a couple of the rocks about half way up the wall and miraculously bounced upon the green within 2 inches.
I won closest to the pin that day of our friend golf outing (3 foursomes). The win did not come without some protest though…..😉

Wow… that is the closest to home i’ve seen on reddit in almost 10 years! I grew up 30 min from there and didn’t even know that course existed. I played the course in town though…

Never had an ace, but I remember the pin seriously getting in the way once . Short par 4 , huge drive, just a flip wedge, middle pin, no sand in front . We all know low shots can still have spin, but this was skulled 100%……Hits the flag dead on and comes to rest 4 inches from the cup. I was 19-20, guy I was playing with worked with my Dad, and a real prick. He was on the green first, just chuckled and flipped my ball to me. I always liked to finish up my birdies, even if they were true gimmes
